U310 - Does it have an SSD? Should it appear in BIOS?

Hi! Can anyone verify whether the Lenovo u310 has an mSATA SSD? This is to help settle an argument between myself and the retailer I purchased it from who are claiming that they misadvertised the laptop when they said it contained an SSD.
The cause of this problem is that my u310 no longer starts quickly and cannot wake up from sleep. Intel Rapid Start claims an invalid configuration as well, so will not start. This appears consistant with some people's problems on this forum, and would appear to be caused by faulty SSDs. The only hard drive shown in BIOS is an st500lt012-9ws142 -  a Seagate Momentus Thin with with no onboard SSD. Hence if there was a working SSD should I expect to see it listed in the BIOS?
Many thanks!

Hi UnhappyConsumer ,
The U310 has an optional SSD upon purchase,
If you want to check it on your computer this can be your guide
http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_u310_u410_hmm_1st_edition_mar_2012_english.p...
But if the system is still within Warranty Period I strongly suggest you contact Lenovo Technical Support for assistance.
Checking if the SSD is detected or not:
Yes BIOS should list it down

  • Rejected items of RFQ should not appear in PO

    Dear Friends,
In a given RFQ i will select/ reject some items but while processing PO with Reference to RFQ system should display only selected RFQ items (RFQ items which have rejection indicator should not appear in PO).
validation has been kept for RFQ rejection items should not be converted to PO, but user has to delete the rejected line items manually which is time consuming.
    please suggest how to proceed.
    Thanks

    Hi,
In ME21N, you receive message 06 050 - "Purchase requisition & item &  already deleted".  This message can be changed to an error message via IMG transaction OME0.  The checks for the messages can only take place,
after adopting all positions (as well deleted ones).
To prevent this, please check to see if one of the following will help:
    1) Select the checkbox 'Open only' on the selection screen for the overview. In this case, the deleted items will not appear on
the overview and therefore they cannot be adopted. Or,
    2) If you do not want to have the purchase requisitions with deleted  items selected in ME21N, you can use the field "deletion indicator"  in the variant for your purchase requisitions, by excluding it in   the dynamic selections.
P.S. If you have maintained message 06 050 as E (error), the user will not able to save the PO (he can only hold it)

  • Z68A-GD80 (G3) - does it have SSD Caching?

    Hello everyone,
As far as I know two of the principal features of the z68 chipset are the SSD caching (that allows you to use a SSD drive as cache of a normal HDD or raid of HDDs) and the Logix Virtu.
Now, all motherboards I've seen so far have the SSD caching feature and some of them have also the Logix Virtu feature.... until now..
I took a look at the product description and I was unable to find the SSD caching feature, so I was wondering if MSI didn't include that feature in the motherboard or just in the webpage.
Is there anyone here who could confirm that?
    Thanks!
    Product webpage: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/Z68A-GD80--G3-.html

Ok, this is what the MSI Technician told me:
"It should support Intel SSD caching. Please refer to the below for introduction of SSD caching. Thanks!"
    http://www.anandtech.com/show/4329/intel-z68-chipset-smart-response-technology-ssd-caching-review/2
I'ld prefer "it does" rather than "it should", but the link he gave me says the SSD caching feature is a SOFTWARE feature and not a hardware one.
That all chipsets that work with sandy-bridge processors are capable of SSD caching, but Intel has made his software check for Z68 chipsets and enable the feature only if it is in the motherboard.
Did anyone read something like that somewhere else?
I'm trying to find out for sure, before going to buy that motherboard.
    Thanks!

  • HT4623 I have IPAD 2.  i want to update to a more current version of IOS, but I don't have a "software update" option.  Does anyone know how I should go about updating my ipad.  I bought it in April, 2011.

I have an IPAD 2 that I purchased two years ago.  I would like to get a more current version of the IOS so that I can download games, etc.  The instructions say to go to General and select Software Download.  I do not have that option listed in my General area.  Does anyone know how I should go about getting the more current IOS?  Also, will the download hurt my IPAD.  I was told it might damage my operating system.  Thank you, Marilyn

No. The Download is the operating system. It won't damage it because its released by Apple and signed to work on it.
It will update the Operating system to the newer version.

My ipad was stolen this morning; can Verizon track the location of the device an assist the police department in recovering the device? I am filing a police report does Verizon have the serial number of the device for me to include in the police report? I have Total Mobile Protection and need instructions for filing a claim.  Is here any other steps I should take?

If the iPad was running iOS 7, the thief/finder will not ever be able to use it.

  • Does anyone have experience of the OWC Mercury Extreme SSD?

    Hi everyone
I read Lloyd Chambers [interesting article|http://macperformanceguide.com/Reviews-SSD-OWC-Mercury_Extreme.html] about the Mercury Extreme. In particular he seems to have found very little performance degradation with heavy use.
I guess this would make us Mac users very happy since TRIM is unsupported by OS X (or have I got that wrong?).
Does anyone have real-world experience of this SSD yet?
    /p

I could be wrong - but my understanding is that GC and TRIM are two separate things (and the need to do them with the new OWC drive as well)
GC is a way to re-organize the data to avoid using blocks that were marked as part of the write amplification done on the drive. (i.e. to write 1mb, you had to actually write 1.3mb on the device - and how to re-organize the .3mb when the file is overwritten)
TRIM actually clears the blocks that are no longer in use when a file is overwritten or deleted. The problem is that the device has no way to know what to clear - it needs to understand what the OS requires and what it does not require... and so it can't do it by itself as it needs to be aware of the filesystem. (NTSF/ZFS or in our case, HFS+). Instead the firmware just makes available the ability for the OS to go ahead and clear the bocks... that is TRIM support - the OS has to now delete the file (from the FS table etc) and then issues a TRIM on that file, allowing the device to clearing the blocks that are excessively used by the operation.
In the case of the OWC - there is no much technical information out there to describe how it trims without knowing anything about the filesystem. Mind you - its not been out long enough to get tested by a large number of people. Some think that its using part of the cache to handle these cases - (if you know the ratio of amplification, then you could build a large cache to deal with the physical space)
I think the secret for the OWC drive (and the OCZ Vertex 2 Pro) is the write amplification - which is less than the one from Intel. The less write amplification - the less need for GC and less blocks you need to clear by TRIM. A Harddrive has an amplification ratio of 1, OWC has (I think) 0.6 and Intel 1.1 - how do they achieve 0.6? On the fly compression and deduplication of data streams... (similar to what ZFS does at the filesystem level). I think part of the OWC 56Gb cache is used for the deduplication reference table as well... but when doing this - you have to be 2x carefull - if you loose part of the deduplication table for example, you loose not one file to corruption, but a huge chunk of your harddrive... as that pattern could be found in a lot of places... BTW - that is also how they achieve better longevity, they have to write less data that is produced... less writes, more life.
Now - as of experience - none... I think it's a nice drive... It seems they have taken some thought on setting apart a large (18%) of their drive to avoid problem and try to suck all the performance possible. But its still the basic SSD drive - just with hardware compression to minimize the impact. OWC obviously does not make them - some one is OEMing them for them. The support is what I would wonder on this drive. But based on Lloyd's experience, it seems to be a good contender on your list.
    Just remember to backup often..

  • Hi all, I've got very unpleasant  issue with my iPhone 4s on ios 5.1 - it can automatically turn on the 3G even if my local operator does not have the 3g coverage. What I should do to solve this problem? (p.s. even want to jail it!!!))

    Hi!
I've got very unpleasant issue with my IPhone 4s, it can automaticaly turn on the 3G even if my local mobile operator does not have 3G coverage.
I hate it, 'cause my battery dies in a couple of hours. How can I solve this problem. It is very annoying. I just thinking about jailing!!!
    Thanks in advance.

There are NO carriers that legitimately offer the iPhone in Ukraine according to this list: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1937
I'm not talking about carriers that support 3G, I'm talking about AUTHORIZED iPhone carriers. There is NO SUPPORT available for iPhones on networks other than those who are authorized BY APPLE to carry the iPhone.
The iPhone should work with any compatible GSM carrier. If your carrier is not on the list I linked to, you will have to work with them to resolve any problems. There is nothing else anyone can do for you.

  • How often should the Cisco 6509 and 3750 switches be rebooted? Does Cisco have a best practice recommendation?

How often should the 6509's and 3750's switches be rebooted?
Does Cisco have a best practice document on this and recommendation how long the switch should be up before it gets rebooted?
Why is a reboot needed if there are no indications of issues on the log?

    I'd agree with Larry here.
If you're not seeing any issues with your IOS revision and there are no relevant PSIRTs (security notices applicalble to features and or exposure of your device requiring an IOS upgrade) then you can go a very long time without rebooting, if ever.
I'm sure it's far from a record, but our corporate distribution router that supports >1000 downstream devices day in and day out has never been rebooted since installation just over 5 years ago. I have a top of rack Layer 2 switch (2900 series running CatOS) that's almost at 10 years.
That said, you should have some monitoring scheme that assures you everything is healthy. But as long as memory and cpu are happy, the device will run forever.
