U310 Error Message on Boot Up

I recently purchased an Ideapad U310. But after closing the laptop and opening it up I get an error message. I have tried to reset, boot into safemode, and pressed the Lenovo Recovery button on the side of the laptop, but the screen stays on the error message until I click ESC which leads me to boot order options, bios setup, and Diagnostic splash. These three options don't really lead me to anywhere with the error screen.
The error message reads as follows:
Recovery
Your PC needs to be repaired
The Boot Configuration Data File is missing some required information
FIle:\BDCD
Error code: 0xc000000d
You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any intallation
media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.
Press ESC for UEFI Firmware settings
Please help me solve this. Thank you!

Firstly, to confirm, see if one key recovery works anymore. Follow the instruction in this kb
http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-and-U-series-Laptops/How-to-do-System-Recovery-on-Lenovo-z580/...
If you arent able to use one key recovery or you dont want to loose your c drive data, then you could use windows 7 repair console and use command prompt to rebuld a new bcd for booting.
For creating bootable windows usb drive, use  Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool. Install the program then choose the iso file of windows 7 downloaded officialy from here. After making a windows 7 usb, boot from it and follow the suggestions given in this link. However i suggest you use oneky recovery once.

Hi Bettybee2, and a warm welcome to the forums!
As for deletion, feel free to switch iDisk Sync off and then toss the disk image. If you see a warning that the file is busy when you try to empty the Trash, log out and back in again and then empty the Trash.

  • Laptop mode -- where to find error messages on boot

    Hi guys,
I get some error messages when booting. I have the time to read that they are related to laptop-mode, but they quickly disappear.
I have activated the ENABLE_LAPTOP_MODE_TOOLS in my laptop-mode.conf file, but I can't find the error messages in /var/log :

  • Error messages when booting up

Receive 3 error messages when booting up PS using Win 8. "Could not load the FastCore Routines Module, could not load the MMX Core, could not load the Multiprocess Support Module." Any explanation?

Ah-ha! Seems there are two Adobe program folders, one under Program Files and one under Program Files (x86). I did not know about the one under Program Files.
    According to System Info:
    Required Plug-ins folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit)\Required\Plug-Ins\
    Primary Plug-ins folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit)\Plug-ins\
Creative Cloud app keeps wanting to update Photoshop CC but keeps failing. The error code is U44M1P7.
Following is all of the System Info, showing the third-party plug-ins that I installed a few hours ago from onOne and Topaz. I can't see anything odd in this, and System Info says all the plug-ins loaded.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Getting weird error message when booting up our computer

when booting up our iMac, we get a gray screen with an error message in 4 languages saying: "you need to restart your computer"
upon restarting, we keep getting the same message.
at the same time we noticed that the screen was very fuzzy... I re-starting holding commandoption+pr to re-set the pram. that worked to get the screen clear, but i still ended up on the same message.
after a few re-starts, the screen went back to the fuzzy view.
I have also already checked the led lights on the back to assure that the power supply was working appropriately, and i got all 3 lights ON and solid. the 4th light (overheating) was not coming on...
    any ideas or recommendations??
    Tks

What you are seeing is called a 'Kernal Panic'.
    What is a Kernel Panic?
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106227
    Try this:
Repairing permissions is an important part of regular maintenance, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two.
    Background information here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751
    and here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302672
If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

  • Error message saying "Boot cam x64 is unsupported on this computer model" Anyone can help?

Hi! After Windows is installed, (step 3 done) I get an error message when installing Windows assistance software (step 4). It says "Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model". Anyone can help?
Caro

copy the entire folder off the DVD to some where like Desktop (Windows) or flash memory drive
Now find "BOOTCAMP64.msi" and control + click to see pop up menu and select "TROUBLESHOOT COMPATIBILITY"
It has to do with Apple and Windows support for 64-bit OS using EFI and GPT (such as your Mac).
Some MacBook models were and then were dropped from the list of "supported Macs"

  • Error Messages when booting up Pavillion ZV5014EA

    Hi there,
I have been having  trouble with my HP Pavillion zv5014EA laptop. I replaced the harddrive with a Western Digital Blue Eide a couple of years back after the original hard drive failed.
On boot up I've been getting one of three messages which I've detailed below. Trouble is I'm not sure whether they relate to components of the HP notebook or the WD harddrive! I've tried installing the WD Lifeguard Diagnostics program for the harddrive and it passes both the quick and extended test.
Could anyone help me interpret these error messages?

    You're very welcome, Emma:
Either the hard drive is bad (even though the tests say otherwise), or the hard drive controller on the motherboard has failed and the motherboard would need to be replaced.
I'm really thinking the drive is bad, or you wouldn't even be able to run tests on it, but I am not a computer repar technician by trade.
Replacing the motherboard on that old notebook is not worth the money.
Even if you cannot afford a new notebook (or don't want to spend a lot of money on one), you would be better off getting a refurbished notebook that would be newer and better than your current one for the price of replacing the motherboard.

  • Udev-acl error message when booting after removing consolekit

    Hi all,
I remove consolekit (using pacman -Rdds consolekit) after the announcement, but when I reboot I see a lot of error messages (although my system boots OK):
    Nov  1 19:43:42 localhost systemd-udevd[1122]: failed to execute '/usr/lib/udev/udev-acl' 'udev-acl --action= --device=': No such file or directory
Sure enough, no udev-acl executable under /usr/lib/udev
any idea on how to get rid of this annoying message on booting?

Interestingly problem not there on my 32 bit system on my netbook, only on my 64-bit [multilib] desktop

  • Error message on booting in Windows

    Dear Sir,
Since updateing to Adobe9 I get an error message which halts the boot process until I click the "OK" in the error message. This interruption of the otherwise automatic boot process is very inconvenient.
Could you please advise what steps I should take to solve this problem?
    Thanks
    David Robb

Looks like this is part of the Adobe download manager, which has been deleted, but not removed from startup.
Remove it (getPlus_HelperSVC.exe) using msconfig (Startup tab), or with a more comprehensive tool like
    Startup Inspector.

  • Error message using Boot Camp

I am getting the following error message while trying to install Windows 7 via Boot Camp:
"Your disk could not be partitioned.  An error occurred while partitiioning the disk"
I selected a 20Gb partition for Windows, leaving 150Gb for OS X (Mavericks).
    Not sure how to proceed.

the fix is below but you need more space for windows, the absolute min should be 40gb (assuming you don't need windows for any big files, pictures, videos, gaming and are ok with disabling hibernation and your pagefile), i.e. we use a lot of 40gb partitions but only use is for business documents and spreadsheets so all files are relatively small
the appropriate size all depends on your usage but 40gb should be the min
to fix the error, restart your machine and do a PRAM reset and try installing windows again

    Hello jayparks41
There are a few things to try and the article below can walk you through them before trying to hunt down a Snow Leopard install disk. I will say that it may come down to reinstall Snow Leopard but also before any troubleshooting, make sure to have a safe copy of your data.

    A disc read error occurred

no matter what i do, i cant get past it. ive had this error before and i solved it by pressing f12 during startup and selecting the farthest option (to the right of network)
now im just stuck, if there is any way that i can get past it without having to reformat my hdd it would be great since i have a lot of valuable stuff on there.
    thanks a lot,
    Jordan

    Hi
that sounds strange! At first you should try to save your data with a Boot disk or Boot CD (www.bootdisk.info).
Then you should try to sett your BIOS back to default settings.
Next step is to try to recover your notebook! If there is a error message your HDD is damaged!

  • T500 Fan issue; error message at boot

Am seeking help with the prospect of replacing the cpu fan on my T500 [2243-8YM].
Have done similar repair on a DV9000 so with manual and time on my hands; off I went.
Got the unit out; fan rotor was very stiff [did try to manipulate rotor as laptop was booting, got it moving but still error message] Tried blowing out all vent holes, dab of light oil on shaft and reassembled. Although fan started on its' own accord, it was not enough to stop the error message.
My concern is after having the unit in my hands and looking it over closely, I cannot see how the fan unit itself can be changed [the DV9000 had 2 very small phillips head screwa retaining the fan]. Cannot see any screws attaching fan to heat sink, but if new replacement fans are available on ebay, and they are, then they must be able to be replaced, n'est pas?
My only guess is that the small copper coloured tabs on the underside of the heatsink unit are pried open and voila` - away we go. But if that is the method, does the foil need to be retracted to gain access to any other retainers? Am really worried about causing damage to the foil, and the sealing foam around the vents.
Am attaching a picture, left image is the heatsink unit [where only 1 tab is visible] and the other image is a photo of the underside of a new fan. I have added arrows to indicate 4 likely tab locations. So am I right in assuming that the foil not only seals the vent but also secures the fan frame to the heatsink unit?
