U330 - Intel X4500MHD not recognizing external display

I have the U330 (win7 x86) fully updated and an LCD w/ max resolution of 1920x1080 and dvi/vga ports
The issue that I have is that when using the intel x4500mhd via the hdmi dvi cable, it does not recognize the monitor. It works if I use the ATI card, but it is louder than the Intel counterpart, so I would like to get use the Intel if possible. I tried rebooting, unplugging hdmi dvi cable, bu **bleep** doesn't work. The lcd is set at its native resolution/refresh rate.
Now, I thought that maybe each graphic card use a different port, intel=vga, ati=hdmi, and that's why i'm not seeing anything, but i'm just guessing
Any help?

check bios and/or graphic drivers updates, if it's available, try to flash/update them first.

  • Mbp not recognizing external display

I have a 2010 MBP 2.8 and I'm trying to connect to a 24" Samsung LCD display to use as a 2nd monitor.   I'm using the mini display to DVI.  And plugging a DVI to HDMI cord to that.
When I plug it into the tv and computer.  The screen on computer flashes blue a couple times then nothing happens.   The computer is not recognizing the display.    I'm running Mountian Lion obviously and theres no option in "Displays" in preferences.
Am I doing something wrong?  I had a old Powerbook G4 that I did this with all the time with Leopard OS.    Whats changed?

Hey all, did a software update on my partner's mbp yesterday (10.5.8, security update 2009-006) and had the same thing happen where our external viewsonic display was no longer being detected. Plugging the cable in and out of the mini display port had the same effect already mentioned here where the mbp screen flashed blue like it was about to recognise the external display, but then nothing. Selecting detect displays from display preferences also had no effect. Tried resetting the PRAM and also the PMU, still nothing. So I shut down the mbp; disconnected the mini display cable; then turned off the viewsonic monitor at the power outlet and left it off for 10-20 seconds. Then I turned the viewsonic's power outlet back on, started up the mbp, turned the monitor on and plugged the mini display port cable in and the external display was back and working properly. Have shut down/restarted numerous times since then and it's all still working normally. Not quite sure how/why this busted in the first place, or why turning the viewsonic off at the power outlet seems to have fixed it, but it might be worth a shot for those experiencing similar problems... and it sure beats having to install/reinstall a different os version (which was going to be my next option)!

  • Thinkpad Edge S430 - Windows does not detect external display connected via HDMI

On a Thinkpad S430 with HD4000 integrated graphics, an external display connected via a HDMI cable is not detected at all when using Windows. The system is fully updated as of the time of posting this message, both via the Lenovo Update tool as well as Windows update.
The Intel driver version is 8.15.10.2696. It appears that this is the latest version, since it does not offer an update when I try to auto-update it via Device Manager.
NB: I am running Ubuntu 12.04 with kernel 3.4.0 on the same machine, and the external display works perfectly fine with this software configuration.
Hence I think that it's very likely that this is a Windows-specific driver issue.
Would Lenovo happen to have a driver update in the works? Alternatively, I will be thankful for any suggestions about possible resolution of this problem.

  • MBA mid-2012 does not see external display on wakeup

My mid-2012 MBA does not see external displays on wakeup. VERY annoying
I have a BenQ 24" HD display connected by HDMI and it is not seen by the Air on wakeup. I have to open the laptop, pull the mini-DV plug out 3 or 4 times before the display is recognised - some of the time. Most of the time requires a reboot with multiple cable/plug inserts.
What an absolute POS this mid-2012 MBA is! Apple finally fixed the garbage colours on external displays in 10.8.4 but the issue of recognisisng external displays remains. Its a crock. Totally regret buyiing this POS.
Have reset PRAM, SMS, cleared prefs etc etc ad nauseum. No solution with any of them. After almost a year of this garbage, the laptop is close to being thrown out as e-waste.

  • MacBook Pro not automatically recognizing external display

I have an ACER 2216W LCD display connected to MacBook Pro with DVI cable. When I first plugged the ACER display into MacBook Pro, the ACER started right up -- nice plug and play. I disconnected DVI to bring MacBook Pro to school, and when I reconnected it at home, I received a "NO SIGNAL" error message on the Acer. I sent the Acer to their tech support in Texas after receiving no support from Apple (in Canada) and it tested fine on their PC. (They do not support Mac). When I attach the display, or turn it on, MacBook Pro screen goes blue and comes back quickly, as if it is trying to id the display. When I push "Detect Displays," I get nothing. System Profiler is not showing an external display. Any ideas -- is there a start up command I can try? Thank you! My Photoshop homework is building up.

  • 6465b - Bios and ssd issue. Intel 520 not recognized by BIOS.

    Hi,
I am writing with 2 issues.
    First, BIOS issue.
BIOS F.20 for 6465b and 6565b is no longer available. The current version on HP support page is BIOS F.03. Anybody know why it was changed?
When will be released F.22 which should enable support for SATA III, as F.22 for 6x60b notebook?
Second, ssd issue, which I believe is connected with Bios.
I've bought Intel 520 120gb SSD and it is not recognized by BIOS. When I put it as primary hard drive and turn notebook on,i go 5 blink of caps + num lock, and al stuck.
I can't install system. But ssd works when in external eSATA enclosure. So it isn't ssd related problem.
I know for sure that 320, m4 are perfectly working on 6465b. Other SF drives, Force GT and Agility 3, too.
What is wrong with 520, and how it can be resolved. I think only new BIOs, unfortunately.

I can confirm that an Intel 520 SSD in combination with an HP 6465b is an issue.. The CAPS + Scroll blink 5 times while in POST. This indicates a general mainboard issue, but I am 100% sure that there is an incompatibility between the two
I have installed BIOS F.21 and the firmware of the Intel SSD is standard (errrr 300i if I'm not mistaken).
Right now the laptop is useless (it has to have a SSD drive for our developer-dudes) so I'm hoping HP will release F.22 soon.. Where did you find that F.22 will add support for SATAIII?
Stupid thing is, when I put the drive in a really old beast (HP nx7400) the SSD works without hickups.

  • MBP Not Recognizing Any Display Neither Internal Graphic Card

    Hi Guys:
Here's the problem, i got a MacBook Pro 15.4" 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB Ram (Late 2007)(specs http://support.apple.com/kb/SP13), and i was using it and everything went perfectly normal, last night i turned off with the DVI to VGA adapter connected, cause sometimes i use it to see movies in the Projector, this morning i tried to turned on, (still the adapter connected),  and the display never turned on, stayed all black and not sent image to any external display. I Have tried everything, i know it's probably just asoftware thing cause i can acces it thru screen sharing with my other computer, I have tried reseting the PRam, put it on target mode, starting it with the Snow Leopard Original disc by pressing C, etc. then i access it again thru screeen sharing and i went to system profiler, and there in the Graphics/Display Section it tells me that my VRAM is 64 mb and that it's shared with the System memory, but thats not true this computer came with an NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB of GDDR3 SDRAM and dual-link DVI wich is not shared and obiously not 64 mb, i'm trying to figure out if it's a hardware failure or a software failure, and if it is hardware what do i need to replace.
I left a picture of the system profiler taken thru screen sharing so you guys can see what i'm talking about.
Hopefully somebody  will know what to do.
As Always Thanks Very very much!!
I'm Running MacOS 10.6.8, 160 GB HD, 15.4" TFT and 2GB RAM, all factory settings except for the glossy display.

OK!! I found the problem, the thing is now an issue of guaranty, it seems that this particular model of graphic card (NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB of GDDR3 SDRAM), comes with a factory faulty processor, so Apple has granted a replacement program for all the mother board within four years of the original date of purchase, and here comes the problem, i bought my computer in November of 2004 and the problem came in early december, still it's a factory issue, i never did anything wrong with my computer, it was working fine, one morning simply didn't turned on the display, so now im supossed to throw it to the trash can?? i can't afford a newer Mac if were i already had a new one and i wouldn't be working with a four year old computer, but I have to it's my work i eat from there, so... now that you now my pathetic position, ¿What in the world can i do?, is there a way to talk Apple into changing my mother board, cause they have the exchange program running right now, my computer jus took a bit longer to fail, but i'ts having the exact problem they describe here:  http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2377
It's factory faulty and i have the exact graphic card, as far as I have searched there's an air bubble in the graphic processor, wich leads to an overheating, so if there's anyone who can help me it will be much apreciated.
    Thanks again

  • Not detecting external display after waking up MBP from sleep mode

I am a recent owner of a MBP and enjoying it. However, one problem that I can't seem to find a solution to is the external display problem after sleep mode.
When I first boot up the Mac and plug in my Dell external monitor via the mini adapter, there is no problem with detection or display. However, every time I put the MBP in sleep mode and then wake it up again, the external monitor does not "wake" up and my MBP only displays my normal screen on the Mac.
I tried to 'Detect Displays' to no avail and the only solution is unplugging the mini connection and plugging it back into the MBP for the MBP to re-detect the external monitor.
Although this is a quick fix in itself, I do not want to wear out the mini port by doing this every timeI come out of sleep mode. Any solutions so that the external monitor will detect the MBP waking up from sleep and display properly? Thanks!

    And same problem here.
Using a MBP 2.66 i7 with a Dell 3008WFP that's connected to the MBP through DisplayPort. It works some of the time but once in a while (only been using the new MBP for a couple of days now) the monitor won't come out of sleep mode. Turning it off/on causes OS X to completely ignore the monitor. I was able to get this setup to work again by pressing 'Detect Displays' in the System Preferences pane but most of the times that doesn't help. The only sure way to get the monitor working again is by booting into Windows through Bootcamp, Windows is able to use the monitor, if I reboot after that OS X sees the monitor again.
Also saw a magenta line/stripe on the left side of my monitor and the monitor sometimes makes a buzzing sound when connected to the MBP through DisplayPort. That's what you get by using bleeding edge tech I guess :\ Only alternative is buying the mini-DP to dual-DVI connector but paying $99 just to be able to use an external monitor is rather insane. Besides that lots of users are having problems with this adapter.

  • Powerbook G4 is not recognizing external HD

Hi. My computer is dying. I can feel it. It's doing all these weird things it never used to do, like suddenly lapse in to a grey screen where I can do nothing but restart it in order to get it working again. I have about 60 gigs worth of music and pictures that I absolutely must back up. The problem is, some time in the last 6 - 8 months, my computer suddenly stopped recognizing external HD devices. I've tried it with three separate devices now. The first two were loaners but this last one I bought. I know I meet the system requirements, and I can't think of any reason why this would be happening. I've tried 3 different devices, which rules out the problem lying with the devices. My computer used to recognize external HD's just fine. I have no idea why it stopped.
Two things worth mentioning: My battery is dead. Someone stole my battery and replaced it with a dead one, so my laptop is no longer portable. But it shouldn't be an issue of the device not receiving enough power because the computer is plugged in.
The light on the device is not a solid green; it's blinking with orange, and the device keeps making a faint clicking sound.
Any help would be much appreciated. If I can't figure out the problem here I'm going to have to take my computer to the apple store and that's always a hassle.
    Thanks

    Oh my ....
First, if you have the original OS X disks that came with the system, insert the first one (should say in small print on the label 'AHT Version x.x'), reboot, holding the alt/option key down, and choose the Apple hardware test, and when prompted, choose the extended test. If you have either of the TechTool programs, they can do similar testing. Does that point out any hardware issues?
Faint clicking normally suggests a hard drive about to die. You could always download Smart Utility from http://www.volitans-software.com/smart_utility.phps to get a readout of your SMART sensors. If you're hard drive is 3-5 years old, it may be on it's way out, and causing issues.
Have you reset the PMU? And while you're at it, might as well reset the PRAM. PMU reset is: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1431 and PRAM reset is:
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    6. Release the keys.
    After that, what the status?

  • Usb port not recognizing external drive

When I plug my external backup drive, Lacie, into either USB ports on my MacBook Pro, it is not recognizing the drive. Not sure if I powered down incorrectly. It use to recognize it. Help.

Start by looking for the drive in the Apple System Profiler (from the Apple menu's far left Apple logo>About This Mac>More Info>Hardware (in left column) >USB.) If the drive is correctly powered and connected, it will show up here.
If it doesn't show up, the problem is with the drive. With the drive plugged in, put your ear to the drive and listen for the whirring sound the drive makes when it is powered up. If it isn't making any sound, ot's either a bad drive or a bad power supply.
If the drive is making sound , then the problem is probably the USB cable or your USB port. Try a different USB cable. This should fix the problem; if all the above tests were good and the drive still doesn't mount, it may be the USB controller in the Mac. That's a serious problem that requires repair or installation of an aftermarket USB controller.
    Hope this helps

  • HDCP error on MacBook Air (NOT using external display)

I just downloaded a HD (720p) movie through iTunes, and cannot play it on my Mac becuase of a HDCP non-compliance error.  I am running it directly on my MBA, not through an external display... I would have thought the MBA integrated display would be HDCP compliant!  Is this an error or am I wrong in assuming my MBA could play legally purchased HD movies?

Try a System Management Control reset (SMC)
Whilst the machine is plugged into power, Hold down the left side shift control and option buttons at the same time as the power on button.
Hold these down for 4 seconds and relese all at the same time.
If this fails then you may need to clear the caches folder for your user too.

  • MBP not detecting external display

I encountered a strange problem today when I tried re-connecting my external monitor: it is not being detected by OS X.
I tried everything I could think of; I selected "detect displays" in preferences, I restarted the computer, I dis- and re-connected everything, I reset the PRAM, I tried connecting to a different monitor, and nothing seems to work. When I disconnect and reconnect the DVI cable, the laptop's screen flashes blue like it normally does, but nothing appears on the external monitor's screen. For the record I'm using the Dell 2209WA, and I haven't had any problems like this yet.
If anybody has any other suggestions as to what I should try doing, please let me know. Thanks!
