U410 Webcam Activation

How do I activate the webcam/camera on the IdeaPad U410 ? My F9 hotkey doesn't have the camera image on it as per the maintenance and user guides but a little box with an 'X' next to it. Purchased my U410 in January 2013 in the UK which may account for the different picture on the F9 key. Clicking on this key only makes the screen go blank. My OS is Windows 8.

hi simonj,
Thanks for using Lenovo Community Forums!
F9 is Actually the Screen ON/OFF
Webcam is Already ON on default, You will Need a Camera Software to Launch it like Skype to view it.
On some Lenovo Models there is a toggle Switch for webcam and that was Fn+Esc.
But it will not launch an application to view it it is just an on and Off, you would still need an application,

  • Webcam active?

    Hi Folks,
    first of all sorry for my bad english
    I made a project with Flash CS3 and AS3 about taking live
    snapshot from webcam, encoding JPG snapshot and send to server.
    Everything work fine and the result is good.
    Now my problem is:
    In some user cases, after they click ALLOW in the security
    panel, the CAM area is full white until they will not select from
    the same panel a one valid webcam driver installed.
    This because they can have multiple drivers or sometime in
    the MAC safari need to specified as well.
    In real i know how to show that panel to let them to select,
    but this means for the rest of 90% users they must select as well,
    when in real is not necessary because after hit ALLOW
    (unmuted=true) in most of the case is working correctly.
    So if the cam is no displayed but only a white screen, a user
    can take the snapshot as well and send to the server a white photo.
    How i can be sure, before take a snapshot, that the cam is
    really displayed and working ?
    I tried a lot, consult many webpages and tutorials, but still
    not clear about the concept.
    I must check the ActivityEvent.ACTIVITY ?
    I must check the motionDetect ? I must check what ?
    I am missing some properties ?
    About my source code is pretty similar to the help guide in
    flash (for CAM class)
    Can i have a tip with a sample code, suggestion, or some help
    Really thanks in advance, it will save me a lot of
    time.

    Press the option key down and launch Safari.
    This suspends the Resume feature.
    Best.

  • Help recording a webcam

    Hi,
    I am planning on creating an application that will need
    webcam activity recorded and then uploaded to a database, I know
    that flash media server will be needed, but how do I go about
    recording a webcam in flash and linking it with flash media server?
    Any help would be much appreciated
    thanks
    Gavin

    Thanks!,
    have found this code in the documentation, but having a
    slight problem
    The following example shows how to publish and record a
    video, and then play it back.
    /* This script publishes and records video.
    The recorded file will be named "allAboutMe.flv". */
    var my_nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    my_nc.connect("rtmp://localhost/allAboutMe/mySpeech");
    var publish_ns:NetStream = new NetStream(my_nc);
    publish_ns.publish("allAboutMe", "record");
    publish_ns.attachVideo(Camera.get());
    /* This script plays the recorded file.
    Note that no publishing stream is required to play a recorded
    file. */
    var my_nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    my_nc.connect("rtmp://localhost/allAboutMe/mySpeech");
    var subscribe_ns:NetStream = new NetStream(my_nc);
    subscribe_ns.play("allAboutMe");
    my_video.attachVideo(subscribe_ns);// my_video is a Video
    object on the Stage.
    For this line
    my_nc.connect("rtmp://localhost/allAboutMe/mySpeech");
    I am having trouble with the location, what do I need to put
    in here?, When I entered admin details for fms2 I didn't enter a
    server address?, what needs to go in there? and is that meaning
    this code won't work at the moment?
    thanks
    Gavin

  • Know about vga driver

    sir,
    i hv purchased hp-d009tu laptop.
    i hv installed windows 7 32 bit, i need VGA driver to make webcam active, i hv downloaded so many drivers but none of them worked.
    plz give me correct VGA DRIVER for the same...
    thnx.

    Hi prateeek, welcome to the HP Forums. Unfortunately HP does no offer 32 bit drivers for your notebook. Windows 7 and 8 64 bit are available on the download page for your notebook: HP 14-d009tu Notebook PC Drivers
    What if I Don't See My Operating System?
    You can try Intel and NVidia for drivers, but since they weren't designed specifically for this notebook they will probably not work properly.

  • V7.0.0.100 on Win7 - video button IN current call ...

    I'll be IN a call, individual or group, flawless connection, and someone decides to switch to video. Fine, I can see them in video but they can't see me. On my end the video camera button is ghosted. If I go to Tools/Options/VideoSettings, after a moment it brings in a live view of me on my webcam. Returning to the call window, the button is still ghosted, so people cannot see me. Quitting the conversation and returning doesn't help, neither does rebooting the whole Skype program. BTW, in the Tools/Options/VideoSettings I have it set to Contacts-only but changing it to Anyone doesn't help. BTW#2, yes we are all in each other's Contact lists. Another thing, this is only true around 90% of the time, the other 10% it works fine. Is there some kind of toggle on my side? Could it be some toggle in the call HOST's settings?

    Thanks for sharing your feedback and coming back to confirm video calls are working in general.
    The icon on the button indeed should reflect "Webcam not activated" / "Webcam activated". If you move your mouse cursor above the button the tooltip should state what the button does in each state.

  • Flash Crashes when activating WebCam

    I'm having a problem across all 3 browsers (IE, FF and Chrome) where Flash will crash when I try activating the camera for recording video (and audio).
    It doesn't seem to matter what webcam I have installed (I've a few to choose from) and even crashes when there isn't a webcam installed.
    It seems to be failing when doing a search for an active video source.
    When IE crashes I get this data for the Error signature.
    EventType : BEX     P1 : iexplore.exe     P2 : 8.0.6001.18702     P3 : 49b3ad2e
    P4 : unknown     P5 : 0.0.0.0     P6 : 00000000     P7 : 06371370
    P8 : c0000005     P9 : 00000008
    I installed and ran Adobe Flash Media Live encoder - and it doesn't crash so it's something about the browser plug-ins that's failing.
    Any suggestions?

    I have the same problem. As soon as the prompt comes up asking for permission to access camera, I click allow, then crash. Every time. Every browser.

  • WVC54GCA can't connect with Active Webcam

    No matter what I do I just can't get the WVC54GCA to make a basic connection in PY Software Active Webcam.  I've searched this forum and the entire web and see some similar posts.  Can someone confirm that at this point it is just compatible with this software so I will stop trying.  I've got a static IP address and have also tried using port 1024 after enabling it, in case the default port 80 was the issue.  I have a Linksys wireless g router as well.  If there are settings in the router I need to change, I'd like to know that.
    I have confirmed that the camera itself does work with the included monitoring software and can also administer it ok from it's web page.
    Thanks - Greg

    First thing I should say is that I'm brand new to the forum and just mistakenly accepted your reply as the solution, which it is not for me.  A coupel of follow up questions for you.  I'm new to this camera and Active Webcam, the recent verison is 11.4.  I'm wondering why you are quoting 9.x since that would be a very old version by now.  In addtion to that, what do you mean by supports this model?  This model is not in the drop-down list of camera's for this sofware, at least in the new version.  Are you saying it was in the drop-down list before and they have actually removed it?
    Regardless, I think I've learned my lesson and will not use Active Webcam as it seems to be so much of a hassle.  I searched a lot last night and am trying out Webcam Monitor / Security Monitor Pro.  This software already has a superior user interface (matters a lot to me) and natively supported this camera immedately without any problem.
    Thanks - Greg

  • Adobe Flash 10.1 web Player Crashes when Activating Webcam

    Hi Everyone,
    I installed 10.1 Adobe Flash Web Player for Firefox, IE, and Chrome. We have applications we use where it activates the webcam and the mic and now when I click accept the flash player always crashes. I have made all the changes asked of me from the support forum including uninstalling the flash player and reinstalling it. I also tried installing the 64bit flash player and using IE 64 bit on my laptop and it still crashes. It prompts you to allow flash to activate my mic and webcam and when I click accept it always crashes. This did not happen with the previous version of flash. I have looked for new drivers for my computer and there are none, I have tried so many times to fix this with no luck. Can anyone please help me as I did not have this issue until 10.1.
    I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I also am running firefox 32bit and IE 64bit and none of them work. I have uninstalled the 10.1 flash player and reinstalled it with no luck. Please let me know what to do. I even did the firefox (-1) option to shut of the firefox flash protection they have. Please please please help this is very frustrating. Thanks!

    Hello there.
    If you're having a problem with a specific plugin, you need to contact its author for support. If you have problems with all your plugins, then it's a different matter. Is that the case?

  • Webcam not active in tochsmart video application

    when i start my touchsmart video application the webcam button on bottom of screen will not highlight or not activate on my hp IQ500

    I'm having the exact same problem and have figured out what caused it for me.
    VISTA Service Pack 2  caused my issue.
    Restore your computer back to before the Vista SP2 and your webcam will work again.
    Hope this helps ... I have an IQ506 and that's what worked for me, and I currently have a post trying to resolve this as well.
    I believe the only fix will be an update by HP to correct the conflict.

  • Activating / Deactivating webcameras with actionscript

    Hi there. My customer has a small LAN and he asked me to
    connect them also through a webcam, so, everytime I press a button,
    the camera turns on at both sides (the two computers) and when
    conversation comes to end, you just click on another button and pc
    goes to sleep or goes back to main menu... Any idea ? thanx in
    advance !

    At a minimum you would need Flash media server (FMS) . FMS
    uses a form of actionscript as well. So you need to script an app
    for that as well as the flash clients. There's probably some
    existing code in the demo/samples that you could adapt, but it
    would require some work there. Search in Adobe.com for FMS.
    Also to turn on webcams, I believe you need to show the
    settings panel from actionscript (or it would happen automatically
    each time you try to use the webcam) and get the consent of the
    client at each end.
    For a small LAN it seems like a lot of work and (if using
    FMS, expense - there is an open source option, but it requires java
    programming I think).
    For actionscript settings panel info use this as a starting
    point.

  • Active X or appropriate Webcam software

    This questions seems to have been visited a while ago without a resolution. I am checking whether developments have taken place since.
    I am attempting to view feed from a web cam via a router. The system works perfectly well via a windows machine. It uses Active X.
    However on the mac, I haven't been able to find a solution as there is no active x available. I don't know if there is another software available that can substitiute for active x. I have tried to run url through Quicktime and VLC without success.
    Thanks for your assistance.
    Message was edited by: kap_australia

    Hi Anthony
    Apple does not support Active X though.
    For clarification, ActiveX is Microsoft proprietary software unavailable to the Mac platform It was Microsoft's decision to preclude the Mac OS from accessing content.
    With regard to your question, this thread implies Mac OK/Windows not. Perhaps you'll find something at that thread to answer your question.

  • Activating Webcam causes Flash to crash

    Whenever I try to use my webcam with anything involving Flash, i.e. the youtube Webcam uploader, it crashes everything Flash related. It even crashes if I go to the Adobe flash test page and go to the "settings" in flash, and click the webcam tab. has happened ever since I installed webcamXP, but continued even after uninstalling. I've reinstalled Flash and Firefox, using the uninstaller and even going to my Appdata folder and making sure all remnants were deleted. I don't know how to get a crash report to post here, so if someone could help with that, I'd appreciate it, unless they know the solution off hand.

    You should be able to remove it from your Control panel.
    There's an entire forum for this software: http://www.networkcamerareviews.com/forums/about1545.html
