U510 Win 7 neu Installation Wie SSD nutzen

  • E130 - Migrate WIn 7 Pro to SSD

    Hi!
I have a Lenovo Edge E130 and I have recently inserted a 128 GB SSD into the extra mSATA slot in addition to the 500 GB HDD. Now I want to migrate Win 7 Pro 64 bit and my programs from the HDD to the SSD, in order to start the laptop from the SSD only in the future. The 500 GB HDD will just be used for data storage.
However, my migration efforts from HDD to SDD so far failed  I attempted it twice, using a) the migration option in Easeus Partition Master 10.2, and b) an image of partition C: from an external USB drive.
I assume that it could have failed due to the Lenovo setup of Win 7. There is a partition "Windows_7_OS" on C: and a "System_Drv" partition labeled with a "*". I don't have Win 7 installation CDs/DVDs, only those for Win 8.1, but I want to keep on using Win 7.
What do I have to do to successfully migrate Win 7 Pro 64 bit and my programs to the SSD?
    Thanks for your answers!
    Solved!

    Dear Alex5723,
thanks a lot for this helpful link. Now that I am back to a running system and to the Windows desktop, I will go on following the suggestions for optimization of SSD performance suggested there.
But first I had to solve some other problems. Here's the story how I succeeded to migrate Win 7 and programs from an HDD to an SSD, both of which now run parallel in my Lenovo E130 with Win 7 on the SSD:
    1) I installed the 128 GB SSD into the additional mSATA slot.
    2) Using the existing Win 7 system on the HDD, I chose Acronis True Image 2015 (free demo version available) to save an image of partition C: (OS and programs) to an external USB drive.
    3) Next I created an Acronis rescue CD.
    4) I have shut down the laptop and removed the HDD.
    5) I booted from the Acronis rescue CD and copied the saved image to the new SSD.
    6) Then I restarted and changed the boot sequence to first boot from the SSD and started windows. This stopped after a while before getting to the desktop with a blue screen telling me Windows was not genuine (build 7601). My Win 7 Pro 64 bit is genuine (pre-installed OEM version). The problem was that the new OS was not in the C partition. Apparently, you can avoid such a screen when you don't assign a partition and a partition letter to the new SSD, so that the space on the SSD just remains unallocated. That's what I did (made the SSD a primary partition, partition letter was E). The very easy and quick solution to that problem is nicely described here: http://www.anotherwindowsblog.com/2011/02/windows-7-not-genuine-after-disk-clone.html
    7) Now that my desktop is back again (everything looks and works like on the HDD before), I have shut down the laptop again and reinstalled the HDD. I went on deleting the old operating system partitions on the HDD and reallocated this space to my data storage partition, but you might prefer to do something else.
    8) Next step I will take is to follow the optimization of SSD performance suggestions that are included in the instructions Alex5723 referred to:

  • Re: Win XP Installation on Portege R500 12Q

    Hi,
I would like to install Microsoft Win XP on my Portege R500 12Q (128GB SSD drive)
If I start the installation from CD, there is normally the possibilety to install a third party driver through pressing F6. But the problem is, that nothing happens if I press F6 in this moment (tried out more than once).
Ok if I wait i get the possibilety to specify the mass storage because installation program did not found any. If I want to install the drivers now, the only possibilety is to instal it from Drive A: (Floppy) but I dont have a floppy drive.
Over all I did not found the SSD- Driver at the Hompage but I think it is included in the Matrix Storage Manager, isn't it?
Is it really that difficult to install Win XP on a SSD? Please help me.
    Thanks in advance.
    greetings
    Stefan

    > Ok if I wait i get the possibility to specify the mass storage because installation program did not found any. If I want to install the drivers now, the only possibility is to install it from Drive A: (Floppy) but I dont have a floppy drive.
If you want to include the SATA driver using the F6 option then you HAVE TO USE the floppy disk drive. But if you dont have a USB floppy disk drive then you could use the software called nLite to include the SATA drivers into the new created XP CD.
The SATA driver is a part of the Intel Storage Manger and you can download if from here:
    [Intel Storage Manger 32-bit Floppy Configuration Utility (201KB) 8.6.0.1007 |http://downloadcenter.intel.com/download.aspx?url=/17061/eng/f6flpy3286.zip&DwnldId=17061&ProductID=2101&lang=e ng ]
For details about nLite search in the internet!
    > If I change the setting again in the bios I always get a blue screen, but I can not install the Matrix driver (SSD) as long as I dont change the setting and I think I dont use the possible speed of the SSD.
This is clear. You will get always a BSOD if you would change the SATA mode in the BIOS after installation of any OS. If you have installed the OS you cannot change the SATA mode in the BIOS.
But if you would like to change it again then you will have to install the OS again using the SATA drivers

  • Cannot recover Satellite to factory settings after Win XP installation

I was running windows recovery then I choose option "delete all data.... "something like that.
Then in the middle by mistake I turned off the system.
After I tried to started windows if was giving error "operating system missing". I manage to install WINDOWS XP so I might able to access HDD RECOVERY but nothing happened.
I tried pressing "F8" key and also "0" key when computer start at "toshiba" logo but it's still not giving me option to recover my computer back to windows vista or you can say "out of box state".
One Important things is, while installing windows XP its showed me that HDD recovery exists and only 973MB is free out of 5665MB. It means I still have all the windows and drivers on HDD. Now please help to recovery system back normal or OUT OF BOX STATE.

    > After I tried to started windows if was giving error "operating system missing". I manage to install WINDOWS XP so I might able to access HDD RECOVERY but nothing happened.
The Win XP installation has damage and deleted the boot manager and the options preinstalled by Toshiba and supported by Toshiba image.
This means that if you will not be able to recover the unit using the HDD recovery option.
You could recover the unit back to factory settings only using the Toshiba recovery disk!!! But I assume you didnt create such disk is it right?
Well, in such case you could order such disk from here:

  • Install an SSD in a Macbook - Installer un SSD dans un Macbook

Bonjour à tous et à Toute,

Car je ai vu beaucoup de truc qui parle du Kext signature Qui bloque le mac au démarage du systeme. Si ce est sa je vais finir sous de Windows Avec Un Virtual PC de OS X verser le prix ous le paye ce est produit de la marque à la pomme!

It sounds as if you've all the bases covered.
    Just two small things:
Make certain, after you've installed a bootable OS on your SSD, that you go to System Preferences>Startup Disk and select the SSD. Many folks have missed this step and been less than pleasantly surprised when bootup is 45 seconds rather than the expected 15 seconds.
Use Time Machine wisely. Don't rely on monthly backups but rather daily or hourly (if you're close to your external). Since you'll have a USB 3.0 machine, be certain to get a good USB 3.0 external drive for Time Machine backups - maybe even two external drives if, like myself, you're paranoid about disk failure. When I'm at my desk, I have my Firewire 800 drives connected to my Apple Thunderbolt Display and backup to a 1TB FW drive and a 2TB FW drive. And I have hourly backups. Once a month just isn't good enough.
You'll need to download and keep a copy of "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app" to make your USB flash drive stick. With this in your Applications folder, you can use Lion DiskMaker to make a USB flash drive using a 8GB+ USB stick. You can also make a bootable dual-layer DVD (but the USB drive will be faster).
As I said, it sounds as if you've everything in hand otherwise. Good luck with your new MBP and your SSD - I love the speed on mine and I'm sure that you will as well.

  • Win XP installation failure on MEGA 865 PRO

    I'm fighting with my  MEGA 865pro, Celeron D 341,2x256 RAM, HDD Maxtor 200GB SATA , DVD-RW LG.
Everything went ok up to the XP installation, i.e. I installed instant-On on an empty disk (it runs and works). Then I boot a Win XP install CD, and it hangs a second after displaying the initial message: "..detecting hardware....". The HDD access led stays on. The same for XP SP1 and SP2. Any BIOS tweaking does not help.
After XX tries, I found out the SATA HDD is the bad guy, as the XP setup goes ok if I use my old ATA disk, or even if I use both the SATA and the ATA disks.
Interestingly, Win 2000 installs *without any problems* (but then InstantOn does not boot)!!!  Gentoo and Ubuntu linux work as well.
I'm trying to install the absolutely standard and ("only") recommended configuration, so what ... :(
I've seen few posts about this here and there (e.g. https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=85690.msg616103#msg616103), but no solutions so far :((((
    Thanx
    viz

Dunno if you allready did, but you need to have the latest BIOS to run Win XP SP2 on the MEGA 865 Pro. When i bought mine, Sp2 wasn't out yet and things worked fine. When i tried installing SP2, everything went fine, untill i boot. Black screen and nothing, after a while MSI released a new BIOS fixing the problem, newest BIOS i think is 1.30

    Hello,
Sorry for a newbie question, but I need to reinstall Win 7 Professional with my new rig.
    I would appreciate your help.
What are the procedures for the windows installation?
I would like to set up AHCI and RAID controller, as someone had suggested that Intel recommends RAID setup even for non-RAID configurations.

    CPU:  Intel Core i7 2600k
    CPU Fan: CoolMaster V8 (180W)

  • P55-GD65 - SATA port and driver installs for SSD ?

    Please can anyone help...
I have a MSI P55-GD65 mb (AMI BIOS v1.2/012.020.000.015) and am about to do a clean install of Win 7 64 bit onto an unused Crucial M4 SSD (firmware rev 010G). After disconnecting my existing HDD from SATA1.....
Q1 Should I update the mb BIOS? I currently have no probs....if it aint broke....
Q2 Which SATA port should I connect the SSD to?
SATA 1-6 ports are Intel P55, SATA7 is supported by JMicron JMB363
    Assuming the next steps are:
plug CD/DVD drive into SATA 4
boot into the BIOS, enable AHCI and set the SSD as the primary boot drive after the CD/DVD drive
boot from the Windows 7 disc and install the OS,
Q3What do I do about installing drivers?
Allow any default drivers to install from Win7, then install drivers from the mb disc (starting with chipset drivers), then update them with the latest from MSI. Or what?
I understand that rebooting after installing each driver (and the updates) is a good idea (NickN from SimForums), but this suggests a lot of reboots !
If some reboots can be left till several drivers are in, at which points should reboots be done if there are 5 or 6 drivers+updates to install? I wouldn't be bothering with any RAID configuration or the floppy drivers.
    Finally..
Q4 At what point do I perform the firmware update of the Crucial SSD (to rev 040H) ? I'm assuming a driver install will be required for this.
    Thanks

If all is well don't do anything.

All of the ports are SATA II, so any port 1-6 would be fine. I suggest port 1 or the purchase of a sata III card. IE:

Although I won't make a huge amount of difference.

I leave the internet disconnected until I have loaded all of the drivers. I also generally do an F6 installation with the most recent AHCI / Raid drivers available if applicable.
Once all of the drivers are install, I connect the internet and let it update.

If there is a firmware update available, the best thing to do would be to install the ssd in another computer, update the firmware, then place it in your computer. (or keep the existing hdd in for a moment to do this)
Data loss is very possible during an ssd firmware update.

You can test the memory by downloading this program,
    http://www.memtest.org/download/1.40/memtest86+-1.40.floppy.zip
Creates a bootdisk which you must boot from. (Disk cannot be read in windows)
If the PSU cannot provide enough power then running the memory at a lower frequency can help, as 333Mhz uses less power than 400Mhz.
Test the memory at 333Mhz and see if you get any errors, maybe ask a friend to run the memory at 400Mhz with memtest.
If it does run at 400Mhz (200Mhz) without any errors then it is not faulty.
From this point forward you will always test any memory modules that you buy with memtest.
It is a very useful program.

  • Satellite U940 PSU6SA - Win 7 installation ask for HDD drivers

    Hi
not sure whether to put this under 'Windows 7', Mods please move as needed.
I have a Toshiba U940 PSU6SA-02K002 ultrabook which came with Windows 8 (not Pro) and I would like to install windows 7 on it. It has a 500 GB Hitachi and a small 32GB mSATA SSD.
It is already running Toshiba's latest BIOS 1.30.
I have turned off secure boot and UEFI, can boot and start the windows 7 install from USB but it is looking for extra drivers that I can't work out. I have tried various windows 7 drivers that Toshiba had on their site for the 940 Ultrabooks but without luck. (Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver, Intel Chipset Software Utility, USB 3 driver and Intel Display Driver).
I'm unziping the drivers onto a separate USB and the install is finding them but they don't seem to be what it is looking for.
Any suggestions or a guide? Thanks

What you need is SATA driver that must be loaded before Win7 installation starts.
Please download it from here .
Ive used it to install Win7 on my U940.
