U530 Touchpad is not responding

My touchpad started not responding this weekend, and I can't figured out what happened. I know you can press Fn+F6 to disable and enable it but that key never worked in the first place. I tried it again today but my touchpad is still not responding. Is there anything else I can do?

  • Keyboard and touchpad do not respond temporarily

    Hi all!
While working on my Macbook Pro mid 2010 (Mountain Lion) the keyboard and touchpad sometimes don't repond. Everything else on the Macbook seems to work as usual, e. g. the power button works and I can see how the logfiles are updated on the console. Currently this problem occures about one time a week
When I close the lid, the Macbook goes to sleep and when I open the lid again, keyboard and mouse work as before.
In the logfiles the only that sounds to coorespond to the problem is:
    AppleUSBMultitouchDriver::validateChecksum - 512-byte packet checksum is incorrect
But the time when it occures doesn't correspond to the time when keyboard and touchpad stop responding.
SMC and PRAM reset did not solve the problem. Maybe I have to mention that the logicboard was replaced 2 month ago and can't remember that htis problem accured before.
    Any help is appreciated.

  • Touchpad touchscreen problems (erratic behavior/not responding correctly/etc) temporary solution.

I bought a HP Touchpad about a month or two after it came out. It worked pretty much as you'd expect it to until some time ago. I started getting a problem where the screen would go crazy and not respond correctly to my touch inputs. Web pages would jump all over the place, cards would zoom out, etc, in other words, they would behave erratically. After some testing I noticed that certain areas  of the touchscreen would NOT respond at all to inputs while others would make the screen go crazy like I mentioned previously. I looked for information on the web to see if other people where having the same problem and found reports of the same behavior. Unfortunately there where no solutions offered. At that point I tried turning on and off the Touchpad which did not resolve the problem. My next step was to try to reinstall the OS with WebOS Doctor, but I read a post where the user reported similar behavior and reinstalling with WebOS Doctor didn't fix the problem. Needless to say I was bummed out since I figured it was a hardware problem with the touchscreen. After more testing I found a temporary solution to the problem which seems to suggest that the probem could be software. The solution when you get the problem is to hold down the power button and the home button at the same time and keep them pressed until the screen shuts down and the touchpad restarts. Once the OS comes back up it works like it is supposed to until you get the next episode of screen epilepsy. At that point you need to do the procedure again and it will fix the problem temporarily. Usually the fix lasts for a few days in my case. The fix also solves other problems I have with the touchpad. Problems like, videos not playing fluidly or freezing every few seconds although the sound plays fine (youtube), sound gets messed up (sounds are played in a robot like pitch), and others. If anybody has questions or other suggestions let me know, I will answer the as best as I can.
Post relates to: HP TouchPad (WiFi)

I think the YouTube and sound problems are separate from the other erratic behaviour.  Recently my touchpad won't play YouTube videos beyond certain points, starting a few seconds in possibly due to the advertising pop-ups - I can skip forwards, but that means I miss crucial parts.  My sound also goes 'robot-like' until a reboot, which is incredibly annoying!  Your touchscreen problems may be specific to your device - try going to Device Info / Diagnostics and see if that tells you anything.

  • Touchpad not responding. Cannot shutdown since I can't swipe to turn off. It also won't charge. Help!

iPhone 5s Stopped responding right after I finished a call. Touchpad doesn't respond and I cant shut down since I can't swipe to turn off. I updated to latest OS 8.1.3 a few days ago but it worked fine until now. I tried charging but it isn't responding to that either.

Thanks. I forgot to hold them longer. Is this because of the software update?
it still doesn't show that it is charging though. I Hope that fixes itself. Now my IPad is acting up. I think I'll reset that too!

  • I have a strip on the touchpad that does not respond when I touch it.  Is there anything I can do?

I have a strip from top of the pad to the bottom where it does not respond to touch.  It makes it difficult to type or draw on my iPad.  Is there anything I can do?

You can try this - it will not hurt - not sure if it will help.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Zen Micro touchpad not respond

Hi everyone I bought my Zen Micro just after Christmas and have not had problems with it until recently. Each time I turn the player on, it is playing a song but the touchpad is not working meaning I cannot change song, change volume etc. I've made sure it is not on 'Hold' and also removed the battery for a number of hours but this has not resolved my problem. Anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions as to how I can fix it without having to send it to Creative? If not how do I go about contacting Creative and sending them my player to be fixed?Any help much appreciated?Cheers

try to update the firmware first, even if you have the latest version, that's the first thing the support is gonna ask you to do anyways
That would be a good idea if it is possible to actually scroll to the Reload firmware option and select it...
Do try it though, you never know...
If not however I doubt it is a firmware/software problem, probably the touchpad was somehow damaged...
Just contact Customer Support (see support at the top of this page?)

  • 'Save As' Not Responding

I just bought an HP ENVY Touchsmart All-in-One desktop two weeks ago and I'm having an issue with saving PDF files from online.  Sometimes it works, but often I get this Save As Not Responding message and IE and Adobe both lock up and I have to open Task Manager to shut the programs down.
Microsoft was zero help.  Surprise, surprise.
They said it was HP's responsibility since it is new.  I don't believe it to be an HP issue at all, and frankly, it's annoying and time consuming to have to go through hell everytime something happens with a computer, especially if its BRAND NEW. Microsoft and HP both want to charge me money for service on a new item that's under warranty and should work fine out of the box.  Saving files should not be an issue with the $1300.00 I've paid for this computer.
How do I solve this issue.  Please...I'm not looking for a work around to the problem, I'm looking for a fix.  If I could waste my day away searching through trillions of forums to try to find some help I would, but unfortunately, time is precious and I need this solved simply and quickly.  Enough of the BS.
The issue is not Adobe or IE as I can save the same files from the same locations online with my other laptop which runs Windows 7 32 bit.
Perhaps this is a 64bit Windows 8 issue?
    Please help...for real this time.

    Matt, welcome to the forum.
I believe that it is an Adobe issue.  I suggest uninstalling it and reinstalling it to see if that helps.  Just because it works on one computer doesn't mean that there is not a problem on another one.  I have had similar problems in the past and used my suggestion.  Sometimes it is the easily solution that does the trick.

  • 2D28TU touchpad is not working

    Hi,
I have purchased 2 HP laptops with serial number [Personal Information Removed] before last 10 months. After 6 months of proper used ,  both the laptops got serious issue touchpad and keyboard are malfunctioning. It's majorly happened for  some keys of the keyboard.
I have raised two different support  tickets to HP tech support. But not got satisfied resolution  for the problem.
For one of my laptop  I am using  OS :-O7 with 32 bit configuration. Its malfunctioning daily.
I lost my entire hopes for this issue , related support from hopeless HP support team.
Could you please recommend me something better for me.
    Thanks,
    Swapnil.

    Hi there @swapni,
and welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I am sorry to hear that you have been having the same problem with the keyboard and touchpad on two identical computers, but I am happy to help you with this.
If you are using the two notebooks in the same type of location, it could be something related to that. Over time, dust and other debris can collect or fall between the keys and cause them to not respond or behave erratically. It is possible that some cleaning or the use of a can of compressed air could prove effective. Please see the following pages:

Have you updated the drivers on your devices at all? If not you can find the drivers here:

Please let me know if any of that helped with your problem. If not, please post any more details you can, about what is happening with your touchpad/keyboard.

  • Satellite L450D not responding after installation of camera software

    Hello,
I've just this month bought a L450D back from the UK. Yesterday I tried installing Olympus Digital Camera Software but once installed wouldn't work. Olympus site claim is compatible with Windows 7 but I decided to uninstall software. I'm wondering if I uninstalled something I shouldn't have because not responding now.
I've got a message - Windows Explorer has stopped working with 2 options: Check online for a solution and restart the program or Restart the Program
Problem is curser wont respond with the touchpad. Tried FN + F9 a couple of times with no response. Connected mouse, curser moves but wont respond to comand
    Any ideas?

    Hi
That means the Olympus Camera Software is causing this problem?
Hmm Have you tried uninstalling the software in safe mode? Therefore go in advanced boot menu (F8) and select safe mode. Then try uninstalling Olympus software usual.
Furthermore you can try uninstalling with special tools like CCleaner. I often use it because it cleans the registry and others.
    Check this!!

  • Compaq CQ60-104TU keyboard not responding

    Hi experts,
I have been facing this problem of keys not responding or responding in erratic fashion on my Compaq CQ60-104TU laptop. Because of this I'm not even able to login into my system.
Can somebody please point out to the problem and also the solution.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Himanshu

as far as i know, if you can type in your password on the log-on screen then the keyboard is working, if the problem would appear after logging in or it will appear when you are on your desktop screen then it may be an operating system problem or a user account corruption issue
the keyboard would only be a hardware failure if when you turn on your nb, there will be no ligts on teh keyboard, capslock key will not lit or no response at all from the moment you turn on the nb
for the touchpad, try to check if its off or on... if there is an orange light above the touchpad then its off, toggle the switch on that light to turn it to blue..
so before anything else.. TRY THIS FIRST!!!!
    1. remove the battery
    2. disconnect  the power adapter
    3. with no power supply at all, press and hold the power button for 1 min.. make sure it will be 1 min...
in technical terms we call this HARD RESET.. this process would release static charges that might be contained on the power button bec sometimes those static charges causes harware malfunctionalities..
then it this step will not work.. do this...
try to go to safe mode by continually pressing F8 when booting (press F8 when you see hp invent screen), then you'll be directed to advance boot options... choose last known good config.. then it will boot to last known good settings....
please let me know if this will not work..
if not "choose repair your computer" on the boot selections.. choose keyboard layout as US.. then if asked for a username and password.. you can cahnge the administrator username to  your username then put in your password.. if you are not using any password leave it blank.. then choose start-up repair...
please let me know if this will not work..
    Hope this helps.....................
