User,
What is your name?
It sounds like you've been configured as a developer, not a workspace administrator. You'll need to talk to the person that created your account.

  • Creating or copying application express users from development environment

    Hello,
Hope someone can answer my question soon.
I am kind of new to the application express development and to Oracle database too ( about 8 month). I developed an application on development environment at my work. Now it's time to deploy this application to test and production environment. This application is secured so I had an ACL page were I setup 2 users that they can view and edit data, and I setup myself as an admin for this application.
I succsessfully deployed the application on the test and production environment but I cannot login and not other users. How do I setup or to copy same users from Development to production environment.
I am using apex 3.0.1 and database 10g.
on Development I have workspace called development and the schema is DEV. For production I have a workspace called production and the schema called prod. So I am dealing with different 2 workspaces and 2 different schemas but one database instance.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
    Kind Regards,
    Sofia.

    Hello,
APEX has a utility to export the workspace and the users. In the application, go to export/import --> export --> workspace users (this is not the default view, and you’ll need to choose it). This will generate a SQL script you can import into the source instance.
In general, it’s best to keep the same environment in the development (test) and production instances – The same workspace ID, name, and application ID. These are pre-condition to be allowed to import single page/components between the instances. Otherwise you will have to import the entire application, each time you need to update the application.
In case you can’t maintain the same environment in your instances, you’ll need to manually edit the exported script. If the workspace already exist, you need to delete the ‘Workspace’ section. Then you’ll need to edit the user details, setting the default schema correctly.
    Hope this helps,
    Arie.

  • Access Remote DB Object using Public DB Link in Application Express -HTMLDB

How to access and list remote database objects in HTMLDB - V2 (Application Express).
I can query using Public DB Link with SQL.

It is not possible. To create reports or forms on remote objects, create local views of the remote objects.

  • Apex repository to manage application users.

    Hi Guys,
I'm using Apex repository to manage users/passwords, should it bother me which Workspace and Default schema to allocate to application users to?
will it be better if I create one empty workspace and schema called app_users. and allocate all of them to this workspace?
the thing is it wouldnt be me who will be creatring those users, it would be WorkSpace administrators, so will they be able to allocate front end users to workspace other than their workspace?
in my case there will be users who need access to multiple applications from diffrent workspaces, ideally we shouldnt end up having multiple accounts for those users ...
    Thanks for the advice.
    Ali

    Hi Ali,
Why do you want to use Application Express users for that?
Isn't it easier to have your own table with the users and a custom authentication scheme that queries that table?

  • Application Express 4.0.1.00.03 -   ORA-01841 error when attempting to edit

I am logged into a development workspace and am able to add new users in HOME|ADMINISTRATION|USERS but when I try to edit them afterward I get the following error:
    Application Express Users
ORA-01841: (full) year must be between -4713 and 9999, and not be 0+
Obviously APEX is looking for a date value and not finding it. Anyone else encounter this or know where to look to resolve this? I got the same error in APEX 4.0 so the patch didn't resolve this error. I've done some research in the tables but couldn't find anything that looked like a missing date value.
I'm using an 11gR2 database on OEL 5.5 running in VBOX on my laptop.
    Thanks.

    FIX:
    Cause
The issue appears due to a problem with the PASSWORD_LIFE_TIME.
    Solution
Using the apex_admin application, navigate to Home > Manage Service > Security then enter integer values for:
    * Account Password Lifetime (days) - enter 11688, for example
    Apply Changes.
Looks like it is a bug in apex 4.0 which has also affected previous versions (known about since version 1.5)........

    Hello,
If you go to your parsing scheme in SQL Developer for ex. SCOTT you'll see a node Application Express.
That should list all the applications that have the SCOTT parsing scheme defined in your APEX application.

  • Error ORA-01785, while viewing Application Express views in Utilities tab.

    Hi,
I am unable to see data in Application Express Views in Utilities tab. I am using APEX 3.1.2.
I am getting the following error,
    failed to parse SQL query:
ORA-01785: ORDER BY item must be the number of a SELECT-list expression.
There is no sort by in the SQL query. select WORKSPACE, APPLICATION_ID, APPLICATION_NAME
    from APEX_APPLICATION_BC_ENTRIES .
Can anyone throw some light on this?
    Thanks

No, It is not that view I get the same error whenever I am in the Utilities Tab of APEX and trying to query Application Express views.

  • Application Express API

Guys, sorry for silly question. I'm sort of stuck. How can I access APEX API's packages? I mean where they are?

In the apex editor, If you look in the "Application Express User's Guide" (i.e. the "help" section), there is a chapter headed "Oracle Application Express APIs". For the absolute avoidance of doubt, the user guide can be found at very top right-hand corner of the apex development page, next to the "logout" button - its labelled "Help" (rather aptly, I think).
As a more general point (i.e. not specifically you), everyone should browse through this or, even better, run through the 2 day developer course, before coming near the forum - it would save everyone a lot of grief in the long run! :-)

  • Muliple users in Application Express

Is there a way of creating multiple users in Application Express/htmldb without using the console? I need to create approximately 700 accounts. It's for our students who's requirements this year are to use it as part of their coursework.
I'm assuming it will be an SQL script.

  • How can you SELECT via Database Link CLOB data using Application Express?

    Customer Issue:
Developer using Oracle's Application Express 3.1. The Developer is trying to SELECT a CLOB datatype column from a remote (10.2.0.3) database, via a database link on her 10.2.0.4 based client Application. The Developer wants to be able to select CLOB data from the remote database which has limitation that she can't make any changes to the remote database.
    Developer's Comments:
I do a select and get the error. Getting error ORA-22992: cannot use LOB locators selected from remote tables. So she feels she can't use dbms_lob.substr in this configuration I can do a "select into" but that is for one value. I am trying to run a select statement for a report that brings back more than one row. I do not have permission to change anything on the remote database. I want to access the remote database and multiple tables.
This is not something I work with, would greatly appreciate help or ideas. Is this a limitation of the 3.1; or does she just not have this set up correctly; or should she be using a Collection (if yes, please share example)
    Thanks very much,
    Pam

    Hello???
    Would really appreciate an answer.
    Thanks,
    Pam

This may not be a perfect solution for you but it worked for my situation.
I wanted to grab some data from Grid Control's MGMT$JOB_STEP_HISTORY table but I couldnt' create an Interactive Report due to the existance of a CLOB column. I cheated this by creating a view on the GC DB, grabbing the first 4000 characters and turning it into a varchar2 column:
    create view test_job_step_history as
    select job_Name, target_name, status, start_time, end_time, to_char(substr(output,1,4000)) output
    from MGMT$JOB_STEP_HISTORY where trunc(end_time) > trunc(sysdate)-90
    In an APEX Interactive Report:
    select * from test_job_step_history@GCDB
Granted, the output looks aweful right now but I am only looking for a very particular output (failed, denied, ORA-, RMAN-, etc) so the formatting isn't the most important thing to me right now.
If anyone can improve -- and I'm sure you can -- on this I'd love to hear about it.
    Thanks,
    Rich

  • Credential manager to see credentials stored for all users?

Is there a way to see and manage credentials stored for all users on a server (we use 2008 R2) rather than just the user who logs on and uses credential manager (or the cmdkey command)? We have users using three terminal servers and some of them store
incorrect creds (wrong username or password), so would be good for myself as domain admin, if I could go to the servers myself, and remove any credentials that OTHER users have stored.

    Hi
    The cached credential are stored in a special location in the registry. (an example there;
    http://msitpros.com/?p=1029)
I doubt you can manipulate the string directly as it's encrypted (possibly "salted" with the user token), but maybe their is some workaround that I don't know of. (edited; to erase it's surelly easily doable)

  • Query to see what applications a user launched

We have setup a RDS farm and are wanting to check to see which users are using it.  I have been able to confirm user logons through the event logs.  Another thing we would like to check, is to see what applications that the user launched.
Is there any logs that can supply that information to see what applications a user launched during their RDS session?

    Hi,
Thank you for your posting in Windows Server Forum.
You can use command prompt with admin permission to check which user uses which application during remote session.
    Query process {Username} {/Server:servername}
