Ubd.exe generationalstorage.dll missing - How to fix?

I just installed the latest iTunes and iCloud control panel on my son's Windows 7 laptop. Now we get an error message on startup relating to ubd.exe, stating that the GenerationalStorage.dll file is missing. There is very little information on the net about this, but it seems to relate to iCloud. The only "solution" I've found is a blog that advises that I turn off automatic Windows updates, though I may have also run across one in a previous search that suggested deleting and reinstalling all Apple software. Has anyone run into this problem and, if so, found a solution?

It sounds like your computer might be infected with a Virus ([http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic446165.html http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic446165.html] )
I suggest the following resources:
[[Is my Firefox problem a result of malware |Is my Firefox problem a Result of Malware]] is a Mozilla Support article with some good tips on avoiding and fighting malware.
To double check your system is clean, do the following (Not official Mozilla advice, just good practice from personal experience)
Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. [http://www.malwarebytes.org/ http://www.malwarebytes.org/]
Download and Run TDSSKiller [http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363 http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363]
Download and Install Microsoft Security Essentials [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials] (not an official endorsement, but I personally recommend MSE as an awesome permanent anti-virus)
Double check for all Windows Updates.
If you are still having problems with Malware after that, I would recommend either [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/ http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/], or having your computer cleaned by a professional.

  • Windows 7 itunes error msvcr80.dll missing - how can I repair or fix to open itunes

I have uninstalled and installed itunes a number of times and I continue to get the same error message - making it impossible to open itunes on my Windows 7 pc.  I have run out of my bag of tricks.  How can I once again get itunes to run and work to access songs and connect my apple devices?

    This also 100% work
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components
If applicable, disconnect any iPod or iOS device and close Microsoft Outlook.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later).
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (see note 1 below)
    iCloud (if present)
MobileMe (if present) (see note 2 below)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot your computer. Delete any of the following folders where they can be found: (see note 3 below)
    C:\Program Files\Bonjour
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
    C:\Program Files\iPod
    C:\Program Files\iTunes
    also on 64-bit systems:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Bonjour
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iPod
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
Download the iTunes setup file and run it to install. Use an account with administrative rights. This can usually be achieved by right-clicking on the downloaded file and selecting Run as... or Run as Administrator. In some cases a combination of Shift or Ctrl keys may be required for the option to show, or it may not be necessary.
If you deleted iCloud and reinstalling iTunes doesn't automatically reinstall it visit iCloud Control Panel.

  • Elements 6.0 apdproxy.exe commapi.dll missing

On system startup the error message reports that apdproxy.exe cannot start because commapi.dll is missing. The exe is related to the starter album in PS Elements 6.0.
Lots of people are offering a free download of commapi.dll allong with some registry scanning/cleanup product which I do not want to mess with.
I found about 3 registry entries involving apdproxy.exe. It would be fine with me to disable the program but I do not want to cause any system problems.
Please point me to the correct procedure for disabling apdproxy.exe.
    TIA

  • Installing FireFox5 causes winlogin.exe mozsqlite3.dll missing popup

After I installed FireFox 5 I am getting a winlogin.exe popup on reboot with the message "An application has failed to start because mozsqlite3.dll was not found".
Previously I used FF3 and all was well. I know mozsqlite3.dll was introduced in FF4.
Uninstalling FF5 and rebooting results in no popup. I have uninstalled and reinstalled FF5 including deleting the Mozilla program files directory. Still the same issue.
    For now I uninstalled FF5.

Sorry I do not know anything about the details of this issue. mozsqlite3.dll may store preferences or something. I have no idea why winlogin.exe is involved but surmise it may relate to Firefox being the default browser.
I have checked my machine and fx 3.6 does not use this .dll fx4 to 7 do use it.
Firefox 5 itself could be considered a dot release of Firefox 4. I am using 6.0a2 right now, they have changed to a rapid release cycle with four concurrent channels.
If the result is only an error message on login it should not prevent Firefox being used, and hopefully has only a minor impact on other use of the computer, but it should not happen. I have XP and do not recall this problem occurring.
Maybe someone else can throw light on this, or sees the same or a similar problem.

  • Installing Photoshop cs6 trial but saying file is missing, how to fix it?

So I bought  photography certificate on groupon and I downloaded photoshop cs6 trial and after downloading, trying to install now and it says it can't find the file, which i don't understand... Confused why its not found. Anyways, does anyone know, what to do?

    Hi mizb90,
Please post the exact error message or the file it's referring to. A screenshot will be helpful.
What seems to me is that the download might be incomplete, so please reconsider downloading the package again and install.
Alternatively you can try downloading it from the direct download links available at : http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs6-direct-download-links.html
But make sure you follow the important steps mentioned on the page before initiating the download.

  • Ubd.exe why has it appeared in my Windows 7 start up programmes?

    Hello.
As detailed above: What is Apple, Mobile documents internet services ubd.exe and why and how has it appeared all of a sudden in my Windows 7 start up programmes?
    Is it safe also?
Any help would be appreciated; as all Google searches seem to relate this to Malware.
Also - I do own an iphone; should I disable ubd.exe at start up?  If I do disable this process what will it affect/ impact with regard to the operation of Windows and my iPhone.
    Thanks

This suggestion is a perfect example of what's wrong with the majority of software we are trying to use.
Basically, Badunit suggests I "try something" with no clue whether it will work, what the ramifications of doing so are, or any idea why it will work.  Even though
our computers are incredibly fast and do literally billions of things in a second, that doesn't mean it's magic or that there is some uncertainty about what will happen.
DON'T JUST TRY STUFF AND SEE IF IT WORKS!!!!
    Here's why:
How could you possibly test every scenario in every program, even just the important ones, to see what the effect of "trying something" could be?  You can't, so you may get unpredictable behavior later.
Because you aren't aware what any of this stuff is doing, you don't know what may be going on without any indication,.  Data corruption???  Who knows.
Even if you are brave, and are willing to "just try it", you can relatively easily get yourself in a situation where the environment becomes a mess and doesn't work, hangs, or crashes.  Yes, even from deleting the file.  It can happen.  If you don't make a backup of your system and test that backup method regularly so you know it works, you might be rebuilding your PC.
You are letting the software author off the hook for documentation he/she should have provided.
I've been developing software since 1978 and I've watched as the quality of applications has slid.  Microsoft and Apple write bloated, undocumented, relatively unstable code that only functions as it does because of the speed and efficiency of the hardware masking it.
Badunit even hints that he knows this because he wants me to post how it went.  I respect that, and I would happily share any information I get about this process.  But, I use this system and I'm not about to make it a guinea pig for the incompetent software developer who neglected to document their software sufficiently to troubleshoot it.
STOP THE MADNESS!!! STOP ACCEPTING THIS AS A VIABLE TROUBLESHOOTING METHOD AND INSIST THAT SOFTWARE COMPANIES DOCUMENT THEIR SYSTEMS!!!
We shouldn't have to do their job for them on our important systems.  One of the reasons Apple has an edge on Microsoft is that they have a relatively controlled operating environment.  Most software and hardware in an OS X environment comes from Apple and there are strict rules about how to code into the environment.  The downside is that you are really at their mercy to fix it.
In this case, Apple has little incentive to make this easy to troubleshoot because they'll tell you it works better on a Mac so you should buy one.  But if there IS an Apple guy on here who would be willing to share, could you give us some concrete technical information on ubd.exe, distnoted .exe and iCloudServices.exe and how they work together so that we can troubleshoot and/or make resource decisions?

I can not open itunes on my computer as msvcr80.dll is missing. How to fix?

Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer files from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?
If you still have the same error messages cropping up, then try the procedures from the following user tip:

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".
    Does iTunes launch properly now?
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post:
