  • I always have a problem with the silverlight plug-in crashing when I use Firefox 3.6. What is the solution to this?

The problem occurs when I try to respond to an email or forward an attachment with an email. I always get a message that "the silverlight plug-in has crashed". I send a crash report or reload the page but it does not solve the problem.

You can try to disable Out-Of-Process-Plugins for the Silverlight plugin to see if that helps. This may however cause Firefox to crash instead.

  • Silverlight plug-in update - can't get it to work

Silverlight plug-in disabled on Mac laptop: I tried updating several times - I get a message telling me that the update is installed - but the the plug-in remains disabled. How do I get the update to work? Thank you.

With the last Firefox upgrade, some plugins are no longer
    enabled until you enable it.
    Open the Add-ons Manager by
Pressing the '''Alt''' or '''F10''' key to bring up the tool bar.
    Followed by; '''Tools > Add-ons.'''
    Hot key; '''<Control> ''(Mac: <Command>)'' <Shift> A)'''
On the left side of the page, select Plugins.

  • Silverlight plug-in does not works in FireFox 4 - beta 7 ( Mac OS 10.6.6 ) !!!! What is the problem ? I don't have any installed add-on !!!

    Hi every one
    Silverlight plug-in does not works in FireFox 4 - beta 7 ( Mac OS 10.6.6 ) !!!!
I don't have any installed Extensions except "Better GReader" and "Video Helper" !!!
I have problem with Seesmic.com and installing applications that required Silverlight !
I installed latest version of Silverlight many times.
    Please help me.
(I don't have any problem with Safari or other Web Browser.)
    Thank You all.

Silverlight only supports non-64 bit versions of Firefox on OSX (and from Firefox 4 onwards we're shipping 64-bit Firefox to 64-bit OSX users) and unlike with other plugins, we can't just start a 32-bit process to run it because of issues with the silverlight plugin architecture. We're working with the Silverlight team at Microsoft to get those fixed but it's essentially waiting on them.
(Or you could try to pressure them into releasing a 64-bit Silverlight for Macs.)

  • Missing radio buttons on web pages, solution: remove Silverlight plug-in

    Missing radio buttons.
When trying to use a page with radio buttons..they were not appearing.
Cause: Microsoft Silverlight plug-in that was installed along with free Flip4Mac software.
    Solution: Remove file 'Silverlight.plugin' from /Library/Internet Plug-ins
(Also, the plug-in was taking over display of Quicktime movies replacing Quicktime's controls.)

Above is a solution to help others with same problem due to Microsoft Silverlight plug-in.

  • Is microsoft Silverlight plug-in safe to run on OSX 10.7.5?

Is Microsoft Silverlight plug-in safe to run on OS X 10.7.5  ?   Looking to stream download movies from Netflix

    berdel,
For now, you will indeed need Silverlight for Netflix on your Mac.  As rkaufmann87 suggested, you should always get any plugin directly from the manufacturer and keep it updated frequently for security reasons.
The good news is that Netflix is currently working on doing away with the Silverlight dependency.  Within a few months we should all be able to cellebrate when Netflix releases a new version that uses modern HTML5 instead of Silverlight, and will run on all standards-complient browsers such as Safari, Chrome, and Firefox.

  • Safari - Flash and Silverlight Plug-ins NOT working

Safari does not seem to recognize my Flash and Silverlight Plug-ins so that I can watch and stream videos. I might have messed it up, but I can not fix it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

There's no Auval or RA or Garritan Personal Orchestra in the Audio Units Manager in Logic Pro. Though Stylus RMX that I also use and Kontakt Player 2 are there and successfully validated. The RA and Kontakt Player component are exactly in the place you said they would be.
I've since discovered that RA does not in fact work in Logic Express. As for whether it's loading up in Rosetta or PPC version - how do I tell that?
I really appreciate your help but I'm still stuck at square 1. Any more suggestions?!!

  • What do I do when my silverlight plug quits responding

When I am on a website like facebook or netflix I get a message stating that the silverlight plug in has quit responding do I want to close it or continue. It has stopped responding when I am playing in a facebook game called farmtown and it has also quit when I am using netflix and watching videos. Is this plug in important and do I have to have it?

I have the most recent version of silverlight I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it to make sure. The trouble I am having still exists I am still getting the same message telling me that the silverlight plug in is either busy or not responding do I want to wait or cancel. When I click either wait or cancel mozilla freezes up and quits responding. I know I have to have the plugin but it is not doing what it is supposed to be doing.

  • Has anyone used microsoft silverlight plug-in on a mac mini?

Does microsoft silverlight plug-in work well on a mac mini?

Some of those who thought they needed it seemed to be able
to use it in Mavericks 10.9.2; not sure how well it works in the
    newer 10.9.3.
Be sure to get it from Microsoft site and not softonic or cnet
downloads where some files have been found to be of a
questionable content, or contain adware or malware.
    http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/
The plugin listed for Mac OS X (intel) says it will work from
Mac OS X 10.5.7 to present; nothing about upgrade version
for Mavericks 10.9.3 specifically, so there may be issues.
    Good luck!

  • Insert Bar in hotmail is greyed out and am unable to attach files; have silverlight plug in enabled; what's the problem?

the Insert bar in hotmail reply is greyed out and the icons such "Attachments" are not clickable. I am using Firefox 3.6.13 and have Silverlight 4.0.51204.0 enabled. What can be the problem? Also, in some instances cookies that store my address and other information that I need to populate when filling in online purchase forms on - say - eBay, are not working and I have to fill them in every time.

in mozilla firefox go to Tools/addons/plug-ins and '''disable silverlight'''

  • Problem with Microsoft Silverlight Plug-in on administrative account

I've tried installing, uninstalling and reinstalling Microsoft Silverlight onto my administrative account on my Macbook and it doesn't seem to work. However, when I started a new test account and installed Silverlight, it worked perfectly. Any ideas to why my administrative account won't let me install this plug-in?

I have the same problem, I think. I migrated to my new MacBook Pro yesterday and it won't run Netflix instant play. I get error code N8156-6013 that I have an internet problem. My husband bought an identical machine and his works. All I could find is that he had an earlier version of Silverlight. I updated mine even further to see if the version I had was just incompatible - and still no go.
Any great ideas? I would happily uninstall plugins, but I don't know which to try and how to get them back if I need them!
    Thanks...

  • Is MS Silverlight plug-in truly incompatible with pre-Intel-chip Macs?

I am on a PowerPC G5.   I'm in need of running a browser plugin called Silverlight from Microsoft.  The download site warns of incompatibility on pre-Intel-chip Macs, but then it lets me download it anyway.  Afterwards, though, I can't make it do anything.  Someone told me there's a software patch to get around this.  But they didn't know the name of it.  Can anyone here confirm there's nothing more I can do, short of borrowing or buying a newer machine.

With SilverLight, Microsoft attempted to create their own version of what a replacement for Flash could be - but not to universal acclaim. You can read more about it here:
    http://silverlight.net/
So, if you go to any sites that have been designed for this new Silverlight stuff, you can download the plug-in from here (but make certain that you are downloading SilverLight v.1.0 for OS X (10.4.8 upwards) if you are using a PPC Mac, but even this will not work with Safari 4. Version 2 only works with Intel Macs and does work with Safari 4/5. The solution is to download and install the latest version of Flip4Mac, which now includes a Silverlight component:
    http://dynamic.telestream.net/downloads/download-flip4macwmv.htm
But the latest news is that Microsoft will probably abandon Silverlight in favour of HTML5:

  • Can't update Silverlight plug-in - caught in a loop

Went to Plugin Check & Updates page and was informed that Silverlight plugin needs to be updated. Clicked on the Update Now button, but doing so just opens the same page over and over again.

hi momoney2, you should download the Silverlight installer and install it, and see if it updates the firefox plugin.

  • Had to work off safari to watch netflix via silverlight... tried uninstalling silverlight and reinstalling, but it appears the silverlight plug in will not work with firefox 4. anyone else experience this problem?

netflix support guided me through deinstall/reinstall, but that did not fix the problem. we determined silverlight is not firefox beta 4 friendly... anyone else have this problem? thanks.

  • Silverlight plug-in problem

Have just downloaded Silverlight which appeared to install OK but when I try to run it I get a window that says "need to check that the programme will work" but this step had already been completed during the installation. Has anyone got it to work?
    willjm

I tried during the Olympics and couldn't get it to work, so I trashed it and gave up on watching anything that requires the Microsoft plugin. I know there are users whose install works, but we could not find why it would work here but not there.
