  • Lenovo z400 touch (hard disk not detected in boot)

Greetings And Salutations.Laptop Specification:Lenovo z400 touchWin8.1 SGL1TB hard disk I seem to have problem with my laptop not being  able to boot operating  system. Before all this occurred, I was casually browsing with chrome.  Then  I noticed a freeze as I was unable to move the mouse pointer, or even  execute ctrl shift delete  command. This happened after I acquired a blue screen. But it restarted  fast into the lenovo white logo before  I could make of the error code.Afte that, I was not able to boot into operating system  I did bios setup but hard disk is not detected. Until now I am still stuck at not being able to boot my operating system due to hard disk not detected and not in  boot menu option..Help anyone? (my probable guess is hardware malfunctioned?)

(my probable guess is hardware malfunctioned?) If the hdd is no longer detected in the bios then the possibility is that you have a crashed hdd and therefore need to replace it. Just to be sure, go to bios and set everything to default. Save and exit. See if you can now see the hdd in the bios.

  • Lenovo Z400 touch Brightness Problem in Windows 10

I have just upgraded my laptop to Windows 10 and when I booted it up the brightness on my screen was very dim. I tried to adjust the brightess as I normally would (Fn + F11 (or F12)) but it doesn't change the brightness even though it recongnizes me wanted to change it.  I had this problem when upgraded to Windows 8.1, but the fix I had for that doesn't work on Windows 10. Any help?

I have solved it!so first you DOWNLOAD (again) the Intel video driver beased on your bit(32 or 64) HEREhttp://support.lenovo.com/fr/fr/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-z-series-laptops/ideapad-z400-touch-notebook/downloads/DS037399  then when you run it, it won't because it is not compatible with Windows 10 BUTNAVIGATE to C:\Drivers\Intel Video Driver\9.17.10.3223 RIGHT CLICK ON Setup.exeCLICK on Run as administratorThen SELECT compability AUTOMATED( don't search for it manually)RESTART  SOLVED! THIS IS FOR LENOVO Z400 TOUCH 64-bit. hope it will help others as well

  • Lenovo z400 no display and no charging battery.

Pls. help, lenovo z400 no display and not charging.... looking for solution

    Hi Jadebasilijoseph,
Remove the RAM and try to power on the system, if you hear any beep sound? If no beep sound then it might be issue with the board. Also suggest you to visit the nearest authorised service centre for further details.
Click here to open a link where you can select the country and get the exact contact support number. I’m sure they will be a great help.
Hope this helps. Do post back if the issue persists.
    Best regards,

  • [SOLVED] Bumblebee: Failed to initialize GPU with Lenovo ThinkPad W530

    SOLVED: See post #20
After years, I decided to come back to the wonderful distro, Arch and back to the forums. Yay!
However, I installed Arch to my new laptop - Lenovo ThinkPad W530 and it uses NVIDIA Quadro K1000M alongside Intel graphics with Optimus technology. Arch is running fine, but I cannot run applications through optirun and I get:
    [exitium@rambutan ~]$ optirun -vv nvidia-settings
    [ 485.536478] [DEBUG]Reading file: /etc/bumblebee/bumblebee.conf

[ 485.537223] [ERROR]Aborting because fallback start is disabled.
    [ 485.537229] [DEBUG]Killing all remaining processes.
As seen, it says "Failed to initialize the NVIDIA GPU". I have tried different solutions found from these forums and several other places but none of them have worked - the problem remains same. Does anyone have idea how I could fix this? I read somewhere else that there could be issues with newest nvidia drivers - is this possible?

  • Lenovo Z400 Battery will not charge

Hey Lenovo Forum: I'm having a battery charging problem that seems slightly different from any on this forum so far. I just acquired a T430 running Windows 7 (64-bit) like a charm. After a few issues with the audio drivers, everything has been running smoothly.  Abruptly, yesterday, when I plugged it into the wall socket (the same socket that it had sucessfully charged on earlier) it failed to charge. Thinking it was the outlet, I tested it. The outlet and adapter are both working fine (the adapter powers the computer no problem with the battery removed from the system). The lock switch on the battery is in the propper position (i've tried both). The battery is not overheated (it's cool to the touch). I tried removing everything and holding the power button (apparently that discharges some built up charge in the system) then reconnecting the battery and AC adapter, nothing.  I just downloaded the power manager which (when the laptop is, in fact, running off of AC power (the battery charge indicator hasn't draining in hours of continuous use) reads:                                          i have also tried reinstalling and updating the "Microsoft ACPI - Compliant Control Method Battery" driver in the Device Manager. Nada.  In summary, the machine is fully functional when tied to wall power, but the battery won't charge. The only thing I have yet to try is using the Energy Manager to perform a battery gauge reset, which I'll try tonight (but hopes are not high). Am not really looking to replace a battery that's basically brand new and seems to be in otherwise perfect quality.  On the off-chance that this is a helpful piece of information, I am using the power adapter to standard wall power in India. Don't think that should be an issue - the computer had no issues charing for a few days here and other devices have no issues.  Any thoughts? Thanks!aaron

Hey x220forme, Thanks for your response. Funny, you're right, not sure how that happened in the title. It's a T430.  I'm not sure about the battery, I bought the laptop (battery included) from a 3rd party refurbisher. If there's any other info from the battery that would be helpful, please let me know. Cheers, aaron

    Answer

  • Need help in diagnosing 1 long beep 2 short beeps

I know this usually means video card is bad. I need to know if disconnecting internal video cable on working system will give the same symptom to help isolate problem between display and video card
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

not exactly sure; the 1long + 2short beep diagnostic is somewhat generic, it could be almost anything (on the mainboard, including GPU).
and Lenovo ThinkPad Beep Codes and ThinkWiki Beep Codes have conflicting information about the 1long/2short
you haven't said what machine, but assuming it's a T6x series,  do you have it docked with an external video card?  the onboard GPU is not socketed (it's soldered to the mainboard), so the only way to disable it (that i'm aware of) is via the BIOS (assuming an external video adapter in a dock is also available for further troubleshooting).  i don't think that disconnecting the display panel (flat) cable is likely to help diagnose the problem, but while you're at it, you might want to make certain that it is seated/connected properly.  i know that where the display cable connects to the socket on the back of the lcd panel is a tight fit, and the connecter itself locks into place (when mated).  you've checked the lcd cable for damage and/or proper connectivity, i assume?  what about external monitor to the VGA port... have you tried that?  FN-F7 key presses may be necessary to toggle the video hardware b/w the internal/external displays.

  • Lenovo G550 Graphics Very Bad, want to install external GPU

    Hi everyone!
I own a Lenovo G550 (model 20023). It currently has a Intel Pentium Dual Core T4500, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator(That's one hell of a bad GPU!!!!), 4Gb DDR3 Ram(had 2gb DDR3 Factory Installed), with 3 operating systems(Yes, three!).
I can see that the Gpu bottlenecks the whole Computer. My objective is to run Prince Of persia:Forgotten Sands at a proper resolution and at medium Graphics Mode without High Resolution Textures(or Minecraft at about 100 fps At full setting, in 16x16 texture pack).
I see that the only way to safely increase without turning my computer into a paperweight si by using a External Gpu. But, I dont know anything about them(like Where to get them readymade, Will it fit into the PCI ExpressCard port etc.). Please give some Information.

    hi atreyabain,
The Intel Graphics Media Accelerator on the G550 is soldered on the motherboard and can't be upgraded. There's also no PCI / PCI-E slot on the mobo where you can add a discrete card. AFAIK, there's no ready made external GPU. You need to do it yourself . See the following:
How to make an external laptop graphics adaptor
How to Upgrade Your Notebook Graphics Card Using DIY ViDOCK
Although it looks promissing, it may not be practical and you're better off buying a mid/high-end rig for your gaming needs.
    Best regards,
    neokenchi

  • Lenovo G550 GPU temperature sensor

    Hi everyone,
I have lenovo G550 laptop and there is a problem with GPU (NVIDIA GeForce G210M) temperature sensor. So, when i turn on laptop the sensor is showing 'bout 70°C and when i run some programs like Chrome, paint etc. the temperature jumps over 95 °C. But the problem is that laptop is COLD , temperature is OK.  The air from fan is COLD, not warm.
I have opened it and cleaned it from dust, it's clean like in pharmacy store.  When temperature reach 100°C the laptop turns off automatically but it is still cold :/.
. I updated BIOS and it's even worse :/  sensor on start show 90°C and then raising :/. I also tried serval diferent versions of NVIDIA drivers.
So,  maybe it's hardware problem with sensor, and i'm wondering is there anyway to deal with it? Or how can i set the the max value of temperature where laptop shut down automaticallly (there is no such option in BIOS) ?
    Thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I solved it,
the problem was in thermal paste and some protective  nylon over GPU. The nylon was detached on some parts  and I removed it at all. Then noticed that there is a litle bit of thermal paste on one of the components on GPU. I cleared it, and temperature is 50°C. The thermal paste probably covered temperature sensor and cause a false reading of sensor.

  • Lenovo y40-70: Multiple issues with GPU :-( advice with at least one will be great help

Hi As you can see below, I am running battlefield 3. The AMD switchable graphics setting for battlefield 3 is set to High performance. So it the game should be running on AMD GPU. But As I have indicated the AMD GPU readings don’t show any value, so it not rendering game. Moreover, in the task bar it show Intel GPU is turned on. Game setting are set to Maximum. Also, the game run little (playable) slow. 1. Does this mean AMD GPU is dead chip? My ultimate intention is to disable the Intel GPU, preferably through BIOS.2. How to do this? Then use AMD GPU for Chrome. I want more performance with Chrome, battery n power is not an issue. But in catalyst application list, I cannot change the setting to high performance, it’s locked. 3.how can I over-ride this setting and run chrome with AMD GPU hardware acceleration  -Bluemoon

    Hi guys!
    in addition
This may not be possible "My ultimate intention is to disable the Intel GPU" Since the unit is limited to Auto-switch between the GPUs or IGP only.
The main concern Im seeing here is that it is not doing the auto switch.
    Here's what you can try:
Open Device Manager and Uninstall the Intel GPU, right click > Uninstall make sure to place a check under delete driver software for this device. Restart if prompt.
After the restart, Open Device manager again and verify if the Intel GPU turned into Standard VGA, If not perform another Uninstall to it.
Perform the same with the AMD Graphics. This is to ensure that both GPU is on its most basic driver before we install a new one.
Install the Intel Driver first https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/4eiv01ww.exe
         Restart if prompt.
         Install the AMD last https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/4eam01ww.exe
         Restart if prompt.
Now try the Auto switching with your tools.
Let me know if this works for you.
    Regards

    Hi i have these questions.
    1. Is possible to change nvidia gpu on this laptop model ?
    2. Can i connect 5.1 speakers to this laptop because in my windows 8 speakers configuration i have only stereo output option. If yes how.

    Hello there!
In the german forum, I found some more help.
This configuration now got 5.1 sound mixing to work via ALSA (without using PulseAudio).
    $ cat /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
    options snd_hda_intel index=-2
    options snd_usb_audio index=-1
    $ cat /etc/asound.conf
    pcm.!default
    type plug
    slave.pcm "surround51"
    slave.channels 6

    $ cat /proc/asound/cards

4 [ThinkPadEC ]: ThinkPad EC - ThinkPad Console Audio Control
ThinkPad Console Audio Control at EC reg 0x30, fw 7VHT12WW-1.01
But this doesn't solve all my problems.
I'm still searching for a way of how to use the internal intel sound card as default PCM device if the USB sound is unplugged or not available during boot.
    Any ideas?

  • Lenovo y480 GPU or CPU downclocking and AC power stopping while gaming

I have a lenovo y480 (Windows 7 64-bit).  While using it plugged in, with the power option high performance enabled, when running games the battery icon will either switch to "Not Charging" or act like the laptop is no longer plugged in (running on battery).  If I pull the plug out and put it back in it will recognize that it's connected to the power adapter again.  When this occurs, obivously the FPS drop significantly.  I can only guess that it's downclocking the GPU but it could be the GPU and the CPU.   Anyone know how to fix this?  I've already replaced the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU with arctic silver because I thought it was overheating but I don't think that's the issue.  I also made sure the cooling setting is set to Active and not passive.  Thanks!

Welcome to the Lenovo Community Paladyr !
In addition to ArchLinixOS's suggestions, try downloading and installing HWMonitor.  It is a free utility that will monitor your temperatures, battery and charging voltage.  From what you have described it is possible that your charger / adapter is dying under a heavy load which in turn is causing the system to go entirely on the battery which is throttling back the performance.  HWMonitor will keep track of the minimum and maximum readings and eliminate the guess work if your charger / adapter is bad.
HWMonitor comes in two versions.  The first installs to your hard drive.  The second is a portable version that can be unzipped on a flash drive.  Personally I like the portable version for working on computers.  Here is a link to that software..........

  • Lenovo g710 gpu

I have noticed on Lenovo's main sales website and You Tube that many potential buyers and gamers in particular; seem to be interrested in the upgrade ability of the gpu. Since I purchased my G710 and have lots of time to kill until it's arrival; I've been doing more research and think I have found the source of all of this gpu confusion. It seems that some models of the g710 have been released with NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 820M 2 GB dedicated graphics on top of  the integrated Intel® HD Graphics. The models available with the Nvidia card seem to be an early haswell realease 3550M cpu (possibly weaker integrated graphics?); While models with only integrated HD 4600 graphics all seem to be later releases. Why the version available directly from Lenovo only comes with the Intel integrated graphics I do not know. I am now curious if this Nvidia card is a possible upgrade for the G710?
    Solved!

    hi fldude,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
The Nvidia Discrete is a Mainboard soldered Feature.
This cannot be upgraded or be added to a non Nvidia Models.
    The Difference are the Motherboard.
The Models with the Discrete Nvidia Graphics I believe are currently Out of Stock, reason why the Website does not have the option with Nvidia.
    Hope this helps
    Cheers!
