Ubuntu One syncing is frozen

Hello folks,
I installed ubuntuone-client from the AUR and learnt to use the u1sdtool command to log in to Ubuntu One.
However, my syncing seems to have frozen. Here are the results of some common commands:
$ u1sdtool --status
ERROR:root:Could not find any typelib for Unity
State: QUEUE_MANAGER
connection: With User With Network
description: processing the commands pool
is_connected: True
is_error: False
is_online: True
queues: IDLE
$ u1sdtool --current
ERROR:root:Could not find any typelib for Unity
Current uploads: 0
Current downloads: 0
Nothing happens when I do 'u1sdtool --start' or 'u1sdtool --connect'.
Any help will be appreciated! Also, is there a way to somehow reset everything so I can start from entering my username and password all over again? I tried deleting the 'ubuntuone' folders in '.local' and '.config', but it didn't work.
Thanks!

Can you be a bit more specific as to the package you are trying to install? I don't see a package by the name you gave.
I am thinking I should close this ancient thread and have you create a request instead.
Also, you did not mention if you had searched the topic, but, in about 10 seconds, I found this thread

sudo pacman -Rs networkmanager

How does one sync music files from iTunes running on a MacBook Pro with an HTC Windows 8 phone?

One doesn't.
Itunes syncs with Apple devices.
You can put the music on your phone. You would have to read the directions for your iphone to learn how to put your music on it.

I read on some Ubuntu site that it might help to reinstall python-gobjects, though the package is different on Arch (which I guess is a given), and it pulled in python3, so, as you might imagine, it didn't work.
When I run `ubuntuone-launch` or `u1sdtool` I don't get an error, but nothing happens either (no prompt for login). I searched google and the forums and the wiki, so sorry if I missed something obvious. Don't know anything about python either, beyond "hello-world.py" (and that I had to put parenthesis around the print statement in order to "port my software" to python3)

I only had python2-gobject2 (well, and python-gobject, and python-gobject2). Installed python2-gobject and it works now.
Thanks!

• How many device can one sync with iPhone? I own a Mac Pro and an iMac desktop. Can I sync with both machines?

How Many devices can I sync with my iPhone? I own a Mac PRO and an iMAC. Depends on where I am, I will plug my iPhone to either of the machines. I haven't sync with either machine yet.

Dah•veed wrote:
Please explain how one would accomplish that feat.
There's not much to explain. When a device is connected, you see the row of different categories across the top: Summary, Info, Apps, Tones, Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Books, and Photos. For example, it is perfectly safe to sync one iOS device to the Music category on Computer A and no other computer, and the same device to Photos on Computer B and no other computer.
You might be confusing what I'm saying with one iOS device enabling sync to the Music library on multiple computers. That is a huge no-no and will result in the disaster being suggested. But I am not talking about that, I'm talking about the opposite arrangement. What I am describing preserves category exclusivity. It turns out that exclusivity at the category level, not the computer level, is what really matters.
As long as a device is synced to a given category on only one computer, it doesn't matter which computer it is or whether that computer is different than the ones synced to on other categories. The instant a given category is enabled for syncing on more than on computer, that is where the trouble starts.
KiltedTim wrote:
Trying to do so is asking for trouble. Don't do it. Move the content you need to one machine and sync only with that machine. If you don't, you'll be back here asking how to fix the mess and recover all the stuff you lost...
I will agree that it is something you should only do mindfully. But if you do make sure each category is syncing to only one device, there will be no data loss and no mess.

• How can one sync a) Albums to all my iOS devices and b) Photos

1/It is evident to me that only My Photostream is automatically uploading/ syncing ( within the number of 1000) pics;
but Each iOs- device may have a different Photostream ( eg: if activated at different times, previously)
2/ since Photostream will then delete ( algorithms unknown) an unknown number of photos, to stay<1000,
saving is necessary:
one would either save them in Photos/ . (?)
Someone here has suggested to take the content of Photostream and create a new Album ( eg: "From Photostream_ Date"),
and transfer ALL images thereto, from time to time (?)
- it would be helpful if syncing is also possible on the Album level ( via iTunes ??)
- OR: are the Albums strictly collections on the respective iOs - device, (and the Mac ?), eventually
containing different Photos (!), ie : Albums are on the device - level (?)
->> Having said so, Can one sync on the Album level ?
- OR somehow also on the Photo- level ?
3/ when is the best time, to save the My Photostream
Sorry , if too many Q's

My Qs were more specific
It is easier to answer specific question, when I know whch options you are having on your computers. I.e. I wondered if you would be able to use Shared PhotoStreams instead of My Photo Stream, but that would require MacOS X 10.9. at least, see: iCloud: Using and troubleshooting Shared Photo Streams
( pls see above): 1/ I was assuming that via iCloud only " my Photostream" is distributed onto all aktivated iOs- devices;
The Photostream "My Photo Stream" uses a buffer in iCloud: Each device will upload the most recent (last month) photos saved to the Camera Roll, if Photo Stream is enabled and any photo you share to the stream. The buffer in iCloud will only keep the photos for a month - it is meant as a streaming buffer and not as a storage. And the stream you are seeing on your devices is fed from this buffer. Depending on when you activate Photo Stream on the devices they will show different selections of photos - it depends on what is currently in iCloud. With IOS 7.0.4 you could also stream to Shared Streams, and they will keep all photos in iCloud, only you would need to upgrade.
- having said so: does iCloud then back up my Camera Roll ( Photos) in toto ?
Your Photostream is generated automatically from all photos saved to your camera roll, so if you keep all photos in your camera roll and save any new photos from the Photo Stream to your camera roll, they will all be backed up, inclding any videos in your camera roll. This list describes in detail, what automatically will be backed up in iCloud over Wi-Fi:
See: iCloud: Backup and restore overview
2/ the 2nd Q posed was: Is there a mechanism to save/ backup on the Album level ( I guessed it can be done via iTunes), but also through iCloud (??)
That is exactly, why I asked for your system versions: if you could create Shared Streams, you could use 100 separate streams just like albums, and all would be stored in iCloud.
But there is no way to structure "My Photo Stream".
But the iCloud backup of your devices will include all application data, so albums you define in the Photos app will also be included, only not the photos synced to your device using iTunes, unless you save them to the camera roll.
- Does one then HAVE TO make b/u via iTunes for EACH iOs device ( and of course the whole Library file
You can make your iCloud backup using Wi-Fi ( iCloud: Backup and restore overview), but you will have more control over it, when you create the backup using iTunes. And syncing using USB is faster than Wi-Fi.
4/ Does one have to save (B/U) as well via iTunes into the iPhoto library,
as also via iCloud (?)
It is recommended: the iCloud backup of your IOS devices will enable you to restore your devices directly from iCloud, but a separate backup in iTunes will make it possible to restore a new replacement device from the backup, if your iPad, iPhone will be stolen, lost, or defective. And you can access the iTunes backup even when the network is down, or there is a problem with your iCloud account.
iPhoto library: When you automatically import the photoStream into your iPhoto library on your Mac, any backup of your iPhoto library will be a backup of your Photo Stream photos as well. I'd create the albums in iPhoto on your Mac.

A remark about Photostream : its deletion logic for pics, once 1000 is reached is intransparent
This is explaine d by the fact that "my Photo Stream" is not meant to be a storage, just a transient buffer. You have one month time to grab your photos from the stream, and then they will be removed, consider it to be a stream of photos that you are viewing from a narrow window. You are supposed to download the photos to your camera roll or to an event on your mac, as soon as you are seein it in the stream. After a month it will be gone.

• Ubuntu One anyone?

****I saw another topic that was similar, but it was old and wasn't entirely the same as what I would like to accomplish.****
Hello there!
I just installed Arch yesterday and I love it so far!
My only problem with it so far is that it doesn't have direct support for Ubuntu One. I got the packages from the AUR, but it seems like they are terminal-only.
If there is someone who has a way to install Ubuntu One with a GUI as it would make everything a lot easier for me.
If you could point me in the right direction or link me to a How-to or flat out tell me it cant be done, that would be great.
Thanks a lot!

http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=30081 - Ubuntu One client
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ubuntuone - Wiki
Follow the instruction's and that should get you started. i cant say personally. because i dont use it
also you might find more answers in this post https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=96786
But i dont understand why you would want to use Ubuntu ONE on archlinux. why not just install ubuntu and use it because it similiar to Dropbox and based on ubuntu software. also used for commenting on packages in there software center. etc
Just setup dropbox in archlinux. same thing, but more useful towards arch and windows etc
Also id suggest posting on the ubuntu forum's. they have a section for other OS's and your more likely to find someone who knows ubuntu one inside out over there who might be able to help

• Ubuntu One: no systray icon

I have been using Ubuntu One since past one month on my Arch_Gnome-shell 3.8_64bit. Its working good.
However, there is no systray icon (the cloud icon) in the notification bar. Without it I am forced to open the GUI all the time. I don't know if this is normal for Ubuntu One on arch_Gnome or whether I missed something.

• Ubuntu One is ending Filelink. Will Thunderbird have a replacement?

I've received an email from Ubuntu One informing me that they will be ending file services as of June 1, 2014. I assume this means that Filelink will no longer be available on Thunderbird for the purpose of posting large attachments. If this is the case, will Thunderbird provide an alternative in the next version?

I believe they are working on it. Until then, Dropbox is an alternative.

• With Mavericks how does one sync calendars without wifi?

With Mavericks, how does one sync calendars and contacts with iPads/iPods without wifi?

Syncing with a cable via iTunes has been removed in Mavericks: you are expected to use iCloud or possibly another cloud-based service, which obviously requires you to have access to the internet - requiring wi-fi for the iOS devices. If you have a wired internet connection on the Mac it may be possible to set up internet sharing, where the Mac becomes in effect a wifi station to which devices can connect. I assume this facility is still available in Mavericks - you should ask in the Mavericks forum how to set this up.

I have 2 home movies. One will sync and the other will not. I have tried converting the file 1 billion times using MPEG Streamclip and Handbrake. Nothing works. They are both the very same format. Both are MPEG-4, 720x576, H.264, AAC. So, why will one sync and not the other?

Which default setting are you using for the conversion with HandBrake?
Since I have an Apple TV, I use the Apple TV default setting which also allows for transferring the video to my iPhone.

You need to start over with Music. On the iPhone Music screen uncheck sync music. Also, on the Summary screen uncheck "Manually manage music and videos", then sync and it should clear off your phone.
Next, choose the music you want to sync. If you want to fit more on check "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC". This will reduce quality slightly, but it won't be noticable unless you are using $300 headphones.
