UCCX 6.0 Restoration

Following is the enviornment:
Call Manager 4.3 Publisher and Subscriber
UCCX 6.0 (Primary and Secondary)
I want to know how to restore UCCX 6.0 in an enviornment where BARS is installed on Call Manager 4.3 and not on UCCX 6.0. Through BARS we take backup of both Call Manager and UCCX.
What exact steps should be taken to restore UCCX 6.0?
Regards,
SJSJ

Hi
In order to restore UCCX 6.x you will have to first install BARS as a target on the UCCX server and on the CUCM publisher it should act as a server.
Make sure to use the latest version of BARS and same version as BARS server and client.
More information can be gathered from the section "Guidelines on Restoring a CRS Server or CER Server" in the link below

  • UCCX upgrade, need to reload the data

I have just install 8.5 in the lab to test and I used a PUT file. I would like to reload that data without reinstalling UCCX.
Is there a flag that I can change to do this? or do I need to reload UCCX?
    Thanks.

    Hi Carlo,
    If I understand your query.
Now you have restored on UCCX 8.5  once using the PUT tool in the lab and will test it for a week.
After this you would like to take one more backup using the PUT tool on the older UCCX system, and Restore it again on the UCCX 8.5 system (built freshly), Yes you can do this. Provided that you have a License MAC (or you can request for new UCCX license incase if your license MAC is different from the previously build UCCX 8.5 system) matching your newly built UCCX 8.5 system.
Note: PUT tool version is very specific to each UCCX 8.x release, so please use the respective PUT tool to take the backup of the older UCCX system.
You can restore the sambackup of file multiple times also, but everytime you need to bring the UCCX 8.5 system freshly.
    Hope it helps.

  • UCCX 7x install

I built a lab test CallManager 7.0(1) from production DMA export, then a UCCX 7.0(1) server where we restored the scripts/prompt and setup Agents, etc. We got everything tested and working with UCCX 7.0(1).
Now I need to rebuild my test CallManager 7.0(1) with a newer production DMA export. My question is do I have to rebuild UCCX 7.0(1) from scratch to get the UCM 7.0(1) Enterprise Parameters to show IPCC Express Installed, or can I run the sql update IAQInstalledFlag, or run UCCX 7x Repair? I'm hoping I don't have to run a complete rebuild of UCCX 7x.

    Hello,
We sort of got it to work that way. It wasn't nearly as clean as I would have hoped and I ended up spending about 3 hours on the phone with TAC.
I pre-built everything and tested. We established a change lock-out window and I rebuilt the CCM Server during that window. Once I did that, the IPCCx Installed flag wasn't set. I ended up running a repair from the UCCX CDs and it set the flag. I was then able to install SR2. At that point, I did the rest of the configuration and everything was working.... Until I did the HR Data Migrator the morning of the move. I ran the HR Data Migrator and pulled the current Historical Data from the IPCCx server. I then ran the tool on the UCCX server and restored the data. When I did that, it blew away all of my RM config and I had to re-input it all by hand! It was very frustrating!!!
The last part was probably the worst part. We had spent about a day and half entering the RM and JTAPI Data just to have to re-enter all the RM data in about 2 hours...

  • Restore UCCX without CallManager on network

I am attempting to create a test install of my UCCX Expres 7.0(1) SR4.
I have gotten the software installed to my server, and am attempting the restore.  However, the restore fails, because the new test server is NOT on the production network (which has CallManager).
Is it possible to restore UCCX data WITHOUT having a connection to CallManager available from the new server?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
For both backup and restore the Call manager needs to be up and running and uccx should be able to reach CUCM.
If not, you can run into bigs like this below.
CSCsl87631    Unable  to contact Call Manager. PERMISSION_DENIED_ERROR: 1219
CSCsi10073    Restore  fails Call Manager Not in the Network
So, its very necessary for CM to be on the network.
    Thanks

  • UCCX HA Restore

    hello
i prepared a lab for uccx servers.
i prepared the first node (application and windows and sql) also prepared the second node (application and windows and sql) every thing went smoothly. (i am using the crstest.ini empty file on c: in order to avoide the hdd 72 mb and the 2 gb of ram).
the preparation is on a vm enviroment.
when i launch a restore process on node 1, it mentions that the node 2 is not available and i have to proceed adding to cluster node 2 before i restore on node 1.
i cancelled restore, i configured node 1 as First node in cluster and it was ok.
when i go to node 2 to perform the add to cluster procedure, i enter the ip address of node 1(that is reachable and on the same network vmnet with node 2) and i enter the credentials (that i am capable to login with on the node 1 machine prepared as first node). after waiting to add to cluster a timeout message appears on the node 2 and nothing proceed page cannot be displayed on IE.
if i try to re launch the crs application on node 2 it do not start. keep the page cannot be displayed error on the internet explorer.
what i did is to restart node 2 and then restart the add to cluster procedure. but also i am still in the same problem.
can you advise how to solve this issue?!

    any idea

  • UCCX 5.0(2) Restore Stuck at 87%

    Dear Team,
We do have UCCX 5.0(2) SR2 installed in HA model.
We backed up data, using the backup now tool of UCCX. we reinstalled both servers. Now we're restoring them.
During the erstore, everything is going fine without any error. The issue is that the restore window was stuck to the 87% without any error message (as you can see in the attached screenshot).
Checked the CPU and memory, no issues..
Any idea please ? Can you please advice ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards.

    Hi Anchoudh,
    Thanks for the reply.
In fact, u're right, it's at that moment that the system resyncs the data between CUCM and UCCX and asks for the login and password of CUCM AXL user. I have already entered the login and password with success and saw that the system is reassigning the Route Points to the CUCM application user with succes.
But the issue is that there is no progress after this action ! the browser is stuck like this, there is no other child window that need the user acceptance (checked with Task Manager), IE settings are also ok..
I really don't know what to do in this wierd situation.
    Can you please advice ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Wajih.

  • UCCX Restore Issue

    Hello All,
I am having an issue with a CCX system that failed and required a rebuild/restore.
Durring the Restore process, it prompts me for the AXL Service Provider Credentials, and when i provide it with either then WebUI credentials, or the console login credentials, it never seems to authenticate.
Obviously, I'm doing something wrong, any help?
    Thanks,
    mark

Just because you can log in to the WebUI (ccmadmin) doesn't mean that account has AXL rights.  Also, the platform administrator account (console), does not have AXL rights, and you cannot give it AXL rights.
Double check your user account that you are typing in, and make sure it has the AXL role.

  • UCCX 7.0.1SR5 to 8.0 upgrade while also adding LDAP integration for CUCM - what happens to agents and Historical Reporting data?

    Current State:
    •    I have a customer running CUCM 6.1 and UCCX 7.01SR5.  Currently their CUCM is *NOT* LDAP integrated and using local accounts only.  UCCX is AXL integrated to CUCM as usual and is pulling users from CUCM and using CUCM for login validation for CAD.
    •    The local user accounts in CUCM currently match the naming format in active directory (John Smith in CUCM is jsmith and John Smith is jsmith in AD)
    Goal:
    •    Upgrade software versions and migrate to new hardware for UCCX
    •    LDAP integrate the CUCM users
Desired Future State and Proposed Upgrade Method
Using the UCCX Pre Upgrade Tool (PUT), backup the current UCCX 7.01 server.
Then during a weekend maintenance window……
    •    Upgrade the CUCM cluster from 6.1 to 8.0 in 2 step process
    •    Integrate the CUCM cluster to corporate active directory (LDAP) - sync the same users that were present before, associate with physical phones, select the same ACD/UCCX line under the users settings as before
    •    Then build UCCX 8.0 server on new hardware and stop at the initial setup stage
    •    Restore the data from the UCCX PUT tool
    •    Continue setup per documentation
At this point does UCCX see these agents as the same as they were before?
Is the historical reporting data the same with regards to agent John Smith (local CUCM user) from last week and agent John Smith (LDAP imported CUCM user) from this week ?
I have the feeling that UCCX will see the agents as different almost as if there is a unique identifier that's used in addition to the simple user name.
We can simplify this question along these lines
Starting at the beginning with CUCM 6.1 (local users) and UCCX 7.01.  Let's say the customer decided to LDAP integrate the CUCM users and not upgrade any software.
If I follow the same steps with re-associating the users to devices and selecting the ACD/UCCX extension, what happens?
I would guess that UCCX would see all the users it knew about get deleted (making them inactive agents) and the see a whole group of new agents get created.
What would historical reporting show in this case?  A set of old agents and a set of new agents treated differently?
Has anyone run into this before?
Is my goal possible while keeping the agent configuration and HR data as it was before?

I was doing some more research looking at the DB schema for UCCX 8.
Looking at the Resource table in UCCX, it looks like there is primary key that represents each user.
My question, is this key replicated from CUCM or created locally when the user is imported into UCCX?
How does UCCX determine if user account jsmith in CUCM, when it’s a local account, is different than user account jsmith in CUCM that is LDAP imported?
Would it be possible (with TAC's help most likely) to edit this field back to the previous values so that AQM and historical reporting would think the user accounts are the same?
    Database table name: Resource
The Unified CCX system creates a new record in the Resource table when the Unified CCX system retrieves agent information from the Unified CM.
A Resource record contains information about the resource (agent). One such record exists for each active and inactive resource. When a resource is deleted, the old record is flagged as inactive; when a resource is updated, a new record is created and the old one is flagged as inactive.

  • UCCX upgrade 5.0 to 9.0

    Hello,
We are planning an UCCX upgrade from 5.0 to 9.0 on a UCS server. We're going to do a fresh install, and I would like to know if we will be able to use the old scripts and prompts on the new version, or will we have to build the scripts from scratch. If anybody has had a similar experience, I would appreciate the advice.
    Best regards,
    Ivana

Yes!  Scripts and prompts from older versions work on newer versions as well.  The opposite is not true however, so if you upgrade to UCCX 9x, and need to roll back for some reason, your scripts from the UCCX 9x will not work on UCCX 5x.  Not that I think your upgrade wont work, or that you couldn't just restore from a UCCX 5x backup though.  I'm just covering both scenarios here.
One thing to note, in UCCX versions 7x and lower, people could script incorrectly, and it would still work.  However, starting in UCCX 8x, there are additional restrictions and security measures in place, which will make those scripts fail.  Be sure to do your testing of all scripts before going live on UCCX 9x.  One of the major offenders of this is using the Write Document step to write files to the local C:\.  So, if you open all of your scripts, and do a CTRL+F "Write Document", to find this step, you may be able to correct it now, before you even go through the upgrade.

  • UCCX 8.5 to 9.0 Redhat Change in vmware?

When you upgrade from UCCX 8.5 to 9.0, the Linux operating system is upgraded from Redhat Enterprise 4 to 5.
If you were to deploy an ova for a new install of version 9, the OS would be red hat enterprise 5 (32-bit).
For similar refresh upgrades in CUCM, there is a documented process for going into VMware and changing the version.  The UCCX upgrade docs or ova readme do not mention any process.
I feel like a procedure needs to be followed however, I cannot locate any information to back up my feeling.  Leave it mismatched or change it?
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the reply.  The upgrade has already been successfully completed but I want to close all the loops.
Cisco TAC's response to the question:  "There is no need to change the OS in VMware. The OS is packaged and bundled with the UCCX application in a single installer. Refresh upgrade addresses the change in the RHEL version through the use of the cop file."
After I challenged his response, asked that he consult with his peers, provide a reference, and pointed out the refresh upgrade procedures for CUCM, I received a second response.  "I confirmed with the peers and got confirmation that RHEL OS is packaged with the UCCX. If you want your VM specs to match, you would need to take a DRF backup, build a new 9.X server by deploying the OVA template for that version and then restore.
I have to assume that the TAC engineer believed that I didn't understand that the OS/UCCX upgrade .iso was both the OS and the Application (obviously).  I think we are in agreement that leaving it this way seems wrong.

  • Can we take UCCX7.0 Backup and to Restore on fresh install of UCCX8.5(1)

                       Hi there,
We are doing fresh install of UCCX8.5(1) on Virtual Server ESXi 4.1. Currently client is running UCCX 7.0 on physical servers not VM as well as Call Manager.  Can i backup the existing data including historic reporting and restore on UCCX8.5(1) as it is on ESXi 4.1 server. As PUT did not help as Call Manager is also on ESXi 4.1 virtual server, PUT did not give any option to point to new Call Manager.
Any easy way please send me step y step or detail doc. Thanks

    Hi Hafiz,
Backup and Restore works only when you maintain the sam ip address and the same version.
As part of the UCCX upgrade you can not point it to new CUCM ip.
But on the existing UCCX 7.x system you can perform the Change CUCM cluster operation to point it to new CUCM ip,
You can refer the section "Modifying Cluster Information from Unified CCX"  from page 71 onwards in the below link,
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_7_0/configuration/guide/uccx70ag.pdf
Make sure that the CUCM and UCCX versions are compatible to make the calls go through.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_compatibility/matrix/crscomtx.pdf
Once this operation is successful you can do the UCCX upgrade using the windows to Linux upgrade method.
    Hope this helps.

  • Does scripts of UCCX 9.0.2 will work with UCCX 10.5

Currently we are having UCCX 9.0.2-10000-71 installed on MCS server. We are planning to migrate on BE7K UCS server with version uccx 10.5.
    1. Does scripts of UCCX 9.0.2 will work with UCCX 10.5
    2. How i can restore historical data from 9.0.2 uccx to 10.5 uccx as new server will be having different IP address hence we cannot restore the backup. We need to create all configuration manually. Also uccx 9.0 was supporting Historical Reproting but 10.5 supports CUIC, so there is any way we can restore the reporting data so that we can pull old reports using CUIC as well.
    Thanks & Regards
    Netplace

    Hi
Sounds like you have a lot to learn and should leave the upgrade to someone who knows the products.
    1. Yes, typically they work, but testing this will be part of your upgrade process. The script may contain anything from basic steps (that will work) to complex stuff or embedded Java.
    2. You would not restore the data. It's not possible. What you would do normally would be to change the IP address of the existing system either before or after the upgrade. CUIC and HRC are difference interfaces to the same DB, so it doesn't matter.

  • UCCX 8.0 - 1st node crashed

    Hi,
We have a 2-server UCCX 8.0 cluster running on UCS servers. Recently, when moving the publisher (1st node) to a new UCS server, we accidently deleted some files of the Virtual machine. (there are 2 folders in the datastore, named UCCX1 and UCCX1_1; my colleague deleted the UCCX1_1 folder as he thought it was not neccessary). After that, the ESXi kept asking for UCCX1_1\UCCX1_1.vmx file when we trying to boot the server. We had to re-add the server (browse to the vmx file in the datastore, and Add to Inventory); the server could boot up now, but I think we lost all the data (we cannot access to the Application web page).
Now we still have UCCX 2 running, could we force the 1st server to update its database to sync with the UCCX 2? If YES, how to do that?
If NO, what should we do? Re-install everything or is there a better way to recover the cluster?
    Thanks,
    hoanghiep

    Hi Hoanghiep,
You can not make the UCCX 8.x series second node as the first node, this was supported only on Windows platform (i.e. UCCX 7.x and earlier releases).
If you have taken a valid DRS backup, than yes reinstall the UCCX 8.x first node (with the same details as before like hostnema, ip address, DNS....etc) and than restore this backup.

Restoring only the Publisher Node in an HA Setup (with Rebuild)
In a high availability (HA) setup , if there is a hard-drive failure or any other critical hardware or
Software failure which needs rebuild of the Publisher ( first ) node, then follow the below procedure to
recover the publisher node to the last backed up state of the publisher. Run the below procedure if you
have a valid backup taken before the failure of the node.
    Procedure
Step 1 Perform a fresh installation of the same version of Cisco Unified Contact Center Express (using the same
administrator credentials, network configuration and security password used earlier) on the node prior
    to restoring it. 
For more information on installing Cisco Unified Contact Center Express, see the Installing Cisco
Unified Contact Center Express available here:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/custcosw/ps1846/prod_installation_guides_list.html
Step 2 Navigate to Cisco Unified Contact Center Administration, select Disaster Recovery System from the
Navigation drop-down list box in the upper-right corner of the Cisco Unified Contact Center Express
    Administration window, and click Go.
The Disaster Recovery System Logon window displays.
Step 3 Log in to the Disaster Recovery System by using the same Platform Administrator username and
password that you use to log in to Cisco Unified Operating System Administration.
Step 4 Configure the backup device. For more information, see Managing Backup Devices, page 7.
Step 5 Navigate to Restore > Restore Wizard. The Restore Wizard Step 1 window displays.
Step 6 In the Select Backup Device area, choose the backup device from which to restore.
Step 7 Click Next. The Restore Wizard Step 2 window displays.
Step 8 Choose the backup file that you want to restore.
Note The backup filename indicates the date and time that the system created the backup file.
Step 9 Click Next. The Restore Wizard Step 3 window displays.
Step 10 Select the feature UCCX.
Step 11 Click Next. The Restore Wizard Step 4 window displays,
Step 12 When you get prompted to choose the nodes to restore, choose only the first node (the publisher).
CautionDo not select the second (subscriber) node in this condition as this will result in failure of the restore attempt.
Step 13 To start restoring the data, click Restore.
Note During the restore process, do not perform any tasks with Cisco Unified Contact Center Express
    Administration or User Options.
Restoring the first node may take up to several hours based on the size of database that is being restored.
Depending on the size of your database that you choose to restore, the system can require one hour or
    more to restore.
Note Based on the requirements, you have the option to either retrieve the existing publisher node data
from the DRS backup to be available on all the nodes in the cluster or retrieve the more recent
data (if available) from the subscriber node to be available in the cluster.
Step 14 Run the following CLI command from the Subscriber node after the restore process is successful (restore
status indicates 100 per cent) to inititate restoring the Publisher node only (with rebuild).
    utils uccx setuppubrestore
Step 15 Run the following CLI command on the target node; that is if you want to retrieve the publisher node’s
data, then run this command on the subscriber node, but if you want to retrieve the subscriber node’s data
(which is more up-to-date), then run this command on the publisher node.
    utils uccx database forcedatasync
Warning In any case, you must execute this command on either of the nodes after restoring the publisher node.
Step 16 Restart both the nodes and run the following CLI command on the Publisher node to set up replication.
    utils uccx dbreplication reset
For more information on restarting, see the Cisco Unified Communications Operating System
    Administration Guide available here:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/custcosw/ps1846/prod_maintenance_guides_list.html.
CautionIf you have done some configuration or hardware changes while performing fresh installation in Step 1 that might impact the License MAC, then rehost your license again using the license rehosting mechanism before running the CLI command “utils uccx dbreplication reset”. For more information on the licensing rehosting mechanism, see the Installing Cisco Unified Contact Center Express available here:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/custcosw/ps1846/prod_installation_guides_list.html
Step 17 Your data gets restored on the publisher node. To view the status of the restore, see the “Viewing the
Restore Status” section on page 19.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPCCX 5.0.2 Backup restore stuck at 33%

    Hi,
I'm trying to restore the configuration backup on my IPCCX 5.0.2 cluster but I'm facing an error as the Print Screen attached. Also the MCVD logs are attached.
First I installed the first node and successfully integrated it with CUCM 5.1.3 without any problems. Then I added the second IPCCX into the cluster and they are now in synch.
When I tried to restore the backup using the regular procedure it got stuck at 33%.
Can anybody help me on getting by this error and restore the backup completely.
    Best Regards,
    Visar

    Hi Visar,
Looking at error message I am suspecting that Node ID of both nodes are changed. Seems to be BUG:-CSCuc21921
    <B>Symptom:</B>
When upgrading or restoring a UCCX 7.0 system, the restore portion of the operation hangs at about 33%, and doesn't complete.
    The MCVD logs show:
CEST MCVD-ARCHIVE_MGR-2-RESTORE_FAILED Restore of the cluster failed: BARS Address=null,Archive id=CRS_1345714352117_,User=Scheduler,Exception=com.cisco.archive.impl.ArchiveFailureException: CloseSession request received
    <B>Conditions:</B>
This occurs when the system on which the restore was originated is not using the default node ID's of 1 and 2. THis can occur when a node is removed from the cluster, and another node is added, causing a node to be marked as deactivated in the cluster data config object, and a new one added.
    <B>Workaround:</B>
    None
MCVD Logs are corrupted. can you please upload it again . We can verify if its same BUG or not .

  • UCCX 7.0 Scripts Folder

is there a folder in UCCX 7.0 that I could back up, where I could find all the scripts and audios that are part of the Contact Center configuration?
Since we're going to reinstall all the UCCX, and we don't have a back-up (and cannot do a back-up from the admin page) how can I back-up the audios and scripts? Is there a folder where all these things are stored?, What other things should we consider to back-up before reinstalling?. [The web administration page is not working, that's why we will re-install everything]
    Thanks.

    Hi,
all of the configuration, including scripts and prompts is stored in the configuration database of UCCX. There is no guarrantee that the C:\Program Files\wfavvid folder and its folders contain the most recent versions of prompts, scripts, documents etc. The only supported way of backing up and restoring data is using the built in Backup and Resotre application - unfortunately, it is accessible from the UCCX admin web, which is not an option for you.
I would reboot that server, hoping that UCCX refreshes the scripts on the file system (although I never knew why it does that if everything is already in the database), then I would zip up the whole wfavvid folder, reinstall UCCX and take it slow from there: importing documents, scripts, prompts.
There might be a problem with restoring custom Java classes, they should be available when a script referring to them becomes refreshed, otherwise it won't be loaded.
