UCCX 7 audio prompts problem - sound distorted

Hi,
We have a UCCX 7 system which holds many IVR prompts, lately we added a new audio prompt to be played if users are waiting in the queue of the IVR.
The prompt is being played normally but at some points of the prompt the sound is a little distorted, it is a music ad, and when the music gets high the sound is some how distored which is not accepted by our management.
The file specifications are like the rest of the prompts which is::
1. Bit Rate= 64kbps
2. Audio sample size= 8 bit
3. Channels = 1 (mono)
4. Audio sample rate = 8khz
5. Audio format = u-law
The codecs of the prompts is G.711.
Apreciate any assistance please, thanks a lot.

Hi
No, if you run G729 you will get poor quality music. It's just a function of the way that G729 works.
The option you mentioned makes UCCX run G729 prompts natively - if all communications to/from the UCCX server need to run G729, there's no point sending them out at g711 and having to transcode everyting. Conversely if you mainly use G711, you would have UCCX run G711 prompts so that you don't lose audio quality for no good reason.
If you need good quality, then you can do one of these two things IF your music is just played in between the prompts. If you have prompts created with background music embedded in it then you can't do this:
1) stream the music as G711 from CallManager by ensuring the MoH server is in a region that allows g711 between it and your PSTN gateways on the remote site
2) stream the music as G711 from the local gateway using multicast; there are lots of references on how to do this on this forum and on cisco.com.
If you have background music mixed in with the voice in your prompts, and you need good quality then your only real option is to stop using G729, or start again with voice-only prompts and an MoH solution as suggested above.

Aaron

  • Having sound distortions in games with M-Audio Revolution 7.1

I'm having sound distortion problems with a couple of games. I think this started a few OS X updates ago, but not sure which one. Two known games are Quake 3 and Quake 4. When I run either of them, the sound is deep and distorted.
I'm sure an update of OS X broke m-audio's revolution driver. I currently have driver version 1.4.1. I only have distortions when sending sound output to my sound card. Sound sent to internal speaker comes out fine. I also tried with a freshly created user and freshly reinstalled driver & prefs. Same problem.
I've tried M-Audio's site with no luck for solutions. It's been a year or so since they have updated it.
Is anyone else having similar experiences with their M-Audio Revolutions?

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59001-59500/sp59291.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow thisand then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Start the notebook and let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

  • Need help with audio sound distortion

    Hi,
I have a HP G60 Notebook PC with Windows 7 which I bought two years ago; recently I noticed when audio is being played, the sound distorts through my integrated speakers (no external speakers) in the laptop. I was wondering if this is a hardware issue or a software one and where would I be able to get it  fixed?

having problems with sound distortion, very slow sound as well as the image being slowed down as well. What can be done about this without having to get computer repaired?

  • Audio Recording Problem - distorted

    Hey all,
I got an audio recording problem here...
When I try to record audio onto my project, the sounds is very poor and distorted. Plus, there is a pretty ugly delay. But when I use garageband, the sound is great and how it should be. So this makes me think that Logic has some sort of problem with my driver (Firebox) or somethin'.
    Here's my Setup
    -imac G5
-Logic Pro 7.2 (Bought just a few days ago)
    -Presonus Firebox (audio interface)
    -Condensor Mic
    Cheers!

    Hi,
It is possible that your FireBox is not the audio card set up in Logic, and that you are accidentally recording the built-in mic.
If Garageband is seeing your FireBox corrctly, then it is the setup in Logic, and nothing else, that you should be looking at.
Check your audio hardware and drivers.
    Cheers

    JoBautista,
you still have the option (before your warranty expires) of purchasing an AppleCare Protection Plan, which will provide an additional two years of coverage. Once your warranty expires, you will no longer have the option of purchasing AppleCare.

  • Sound Distortion playing DVDs with Audigy2 Va

Last time I have problems playing DVD movies on my computer: The sound is distorted
by scratches like an old vinyl. I am using a SB Audigy 2 on Win XP. I have tried several software DVD players, reinstalled the old drivers from CD and cleanly installed teh newest drivers via internet auto update. I also tried to update my VIA chipset drivers, deactivated several background programs etc.
I found out that disabling the sound acceleration in DXDiag removes the sound distortion but then the sound (speech, effects) within a movie are extremly quiet compared to the music.
Another thing: First I deinstalled completely the software and drivers from my audigy to replace it with new ones. Then I had to notice that the new Audio Control Center does not support the option to send bass-frequencies to my subwoofer. I could set the speakers to 5. but had no chance to get my subwoofer working. At the moment I have status quo by using new drivers, but my old creative applications for configurating my speakers.

Ijust checked the preferences, go to Disc Setup and on the bottom in the Audio section, check off the box that says "Disable Dolby dynamic range compression" see if that helps.

  • Sound Distortion AP 11 and 12.

I'm experiencing sound distortion and weak signal after AP upgraded to 11. I downloaded 12 and I still have the problem. Windows 7.

    AP?  You mean Flash Player?
12 is a beta, so it's not a good idea to use that to remedy playback problems as it's a test product.
Are you experiencing audio issues elsewhere? Windows Media Player, iTunes, Quick Time or VLC for instance?

  • Sound distortion in most recent episode of Lost

    Hi all,
the most recent episode of Lost plays on my Apple TV with really bad sound distortion starting from 4.23 and continuing to the end.
I have a series pass so the episode downloaded onto my Apple TV. The file that has synched with my Mac plays fine in iTunes. I've changed the sync options to remove that ep of Lost from the appletv and then synched back, but it still does it. The episode is Lost s6 e6 'Sundown'. Has anyone else had this issue? I don't want to watch it on my laptop, I really need it to work on the Apple TV!
    Thanks
    Caspar

Not the best solution, but at least you'll be able to watch this episode on the Apple TV.
    Either:
Switch Dolby Digital Out to Off in Apple TV's setting. The episode will then play the Stereo AAC track instead (which is fine, btw). Problem is, you'll have to switch Dolby Digital Out back on if you want surround sound back for other content.
    Or:
    Download an App called Subler.
Open the HD Episode of Lost in Subler.
You'll see that subler lists the video track and two audio tracks. The Digital surround track is not ticked, but this normal and is not the cause of the 'static problem'
Select the surround track and click the delete button.
Save the file and re-sync to Apple TV.
It will now play in stereo.

  • Sound distortion issue when uploading iMovie

Each time I try to 'Share' a movie I created the sound distorts once it's uploaded.  It's driving me crazy!  I've read other posts re this problem but no resolutions given.  The sound just ends up a bit fuzzy - it's fine until it's uploaded to file or iTunes etc.  Does anyone else know what the problem may be?

Solved it by downloading win 8 drivers for audio from sony support... followed condor's suggestion http://community.sony.com/t5/VAIO-Windows-10/LAPTOP-VAIO-SVT15112CSX-audio-drivers-that-work-with-windows-10/m-p/516334#U516334

  • Why am I getting sound distortion when connecting iPad 2 to amplifier.

I am getting sound distortion when connecting iPad or iPod thru amplifier using AirPlay or 3.5mm to rca cables. Also the sound has far too much bass. No problems when connected in car.

It sounds like a mismatched impedence.  What are you connecting to?   the output from the jack is intended for headphones, and is not just an audio out.
Try turning the volume on the pad way down, and use the gain on your amp, and see if that minimizes the issue.
There is a pure audio signal for both channels on the 31 pin plug, but you would need a special cable to use it.  I would bet they are available if you google.  Although I have read that the 31 pin signal is not filtered like the headphone output, so while it is a pure audio output, there may be some noise in it that would need to be filtered.
Try google for a 31 pin cable.  ( the input for the car is probably built to take a signal from a headphone output, while your amp may be expecting a lower power signal)

  • Sound distortion - Pavilion DV6-3040sa

    Hi,
When i was at university, i had to connect my laptop via ethernet to gain internet access as there was no wi-fi connection in student halls. The sound distortion was quite bad. I couldn't even listen to music or watch video's as the sound would go distorted. It got worse if i tried streaming videos off the internet such as youtube. When i returned home, i connected to the internet via wi-fi and i didn't seem to experience any sound distortion. The sound was fine except for the odd occasional distortion but it wasn't a big problem. I assume it is something to do with the network cards? If someone could help me fix this problem, it would be much appreciated. I'd like to enjoy my music and videos without any distortion again
    Thanks,
    Kin.

Uninstall both audio and network drivers through Control Panel > Programs and Features, reboot the computer and install updated one from here

  • Sound distortion in iTunes and not in other players

    Hello,
I've been experiencing some terrible sound distortion with iTunes that I don't have with any other player (WM player for instance).
I installed version 6 and this doesn't fix any issue.
This doesn't cause any problem when transferring files to iPod but still, have to be fixed!
Has anyone a clue or already fixed this in windows XP?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I have same problem with my iTunes 6.
You can try this(Helps for me):
    1. From the Start menu, select Settings and open the Control Panel
    2. Double-click the Multimedia or Sound, Speech & Audio devices icon,
    3. Select Sound and Audio Devices, click the Advanced Audio button
    4. Select the Advanced tab then
    5. Select the Performance tab and find the Hardware Acceleration slider control
hardware acceleration should be set at full.
sample rate conversion quality should be set at best.

  • Mystery audio performance changes and distortion

I listen to a lot of rock, hard rock, and heavy metal on my 80GB Video iPod. In the past two months, I’ve been having problems with distortion and equalization. I do have the latest iTunes and iPod software updates installed and I have re-instaled iTunes and re-initialized the iPod.
Originally, I was using the iPod earbuds and upgraded to vModa Vibes. Most of my music sounded great with an EQ setting of “Dance” with the vModas.
After a while, I started to experience distortion and loss of detail, especially on the left side (crackling). I thought I had damaged the vModa Vibes, so I purchased a pair of Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro Earphones.
The Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro earphones sounded terrible with no highs or midrange detail and way too much low range. They seemed to distort easily and overload in the-mid range if there was a lot guitars playing (drowning the details out). I tried all sorts of EQ settings to no avail. The problems remained, even on treble boost, but I didn't have a problem specific to the left side.
I returned the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro earphones and switched back to the vModa Vibes for a while and finally decided, on the recommendation of a friend, to try the Bose TriPort IE earphones.
The Bose TriPort IE earphones were much better than the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro earphones, but still lacked high frequency and mid-range detail as compared to the vModa Vibes.
While switching back and forth between the vModas and the Bose earphones, the sound performance (or equalization) seemed to change at random, even though I kept the EQ set to off.
At one point, the vModas suddenly had incredible bass, while maintaining the other performance characteristics, with the EQ still set to off. Later, I played the same song again, and the bass was normal (all I did was charge the battery with the Apple USB AC adapter).
I’ve been using the vModas again for about a week now, and every time I listen to the same song, it plays differently, sometimes great, sometimes with extra bass, sometimes muddled and distorted. The same thing happens with Bose TriPort IEs, except they aren’t as clear as the vModas.
The performance issues seem to somewhat track battery charging (i.e. – after I charge the iPod up, audio performance changes and it sometimes improves as the battery drains).
I figure that either there is a hardware problem with the iPod or there is some type of EQ virus going around.
Anyone having similar problems or have a solution??

I went out and bought a 2 GB iPod Nano and loaded some songs onto it.
Everything sounds great with the vModa Vibe earphones so I guess my 80 GB video iPod might have a few twisted transistors.
I'll have to try to clear out the 80 GB video iPod and reinitialize/restore it again to see if it corrects the problem.
