UCCX 8.5 to 9.0 Redhat Change in vmware?

When you upgrade from UCCX 8.5 to 9.0, the Linux operating system is upgraded from Redhat Enterprise 4 to 5.
If you were to deploy an ova for a new install of version 9, the OS would be red hat enterprise 5 (32-bit).
For similar refresh upgrades in CUCM, there is a documented process for going into VMware and changing the version. The UCCX upgrade docs or ova readme do not mention any process.
I feel like a procedure needs to be followed however, I cannot locate any information to back up my feeling. Leave it mismatched or change it?

Cisco TAC's response to the question: "There is no need to change the OS in VMware. The OS is packaged and bundled with the UCCX application in a single installer. Refresh upgrade addresses the change in the RHEL version through the use of the cop file."
After I challenged his response, asked that he consult with his peers, provide a reference, and pointed out the refresh upgrade procedures for CUCM, I received a second response. "I confirmed with the peers and got confirmation that RHEL OS is packaged with the UCCX. If you want your VM specs to match, you would need to take a DRF backup, build a new 9.X server by deploying the OVA template for that version and then restore.
I have to assume that the TAC engineer believed that I didn't understand that the OS/UCCX upgrade .iso was both the OS and the Application (obviously). I think we are in agreement that leaving it this way seems wrong.

UCCX 9.x - Problem to upload DEMO License on vmware install

Hi Guys,
I am trying installing the UCCX 9.X in VMWare machine and am searching the following problem:

Validating uploaded license file...
Warning: No valid license feature lines found in the uploaded license(s).
Validation completed.
The license cannot be added because, either the license config repository cannot be accessed or the license is invalid. Please specify a valid product license to continue.
The demo license was download from Cisco, and I used the license MAC to generate the license.
Any have Idea about this issues? Where stay the config repository?

Subscriber IP Address Change - Any Impact to UCCX

Hi,
We are having to change the IP address of two of our Subscriber Servers. The two being are changed are not used by UCCX i.e. they are not selected as AXL Service Providers, nor as CTI Managers although they naturally appear on the right-hand side in the list of available servers.
1. Will the UCCX system automatically detect the new IP addresses and show only the new IP address in the 'Available...' window on the right-hand side?
2. Do we need to change anything on the UCCX/CRS system?
3. Will both UCCX servers require a reboot following the change of IP address on the two Subscribers?

I believe this won't be a problem for you since you're not even using the CUCM subscribers in question. However, if I were you I would take a maintenance window and bounce the UCCX services anyway to make sure there won't be lingering issues.

Horizon View is depended on AD and this task is not trivial.
What needs to be done depends on your setup and configuration and you will need assist from VMware Support and you should first replicate the setup in a test-environment.

i have setup my oracle 11.5.10 in redhat4 linux on vmware with win xp sp2 as my host OS
so not able to open the oracle applications manager from windows xp browser
i have given a loopback adapter for wixn xp with
ip 192.168.0.22
and gateway and dns as 192.168.0.11 ---- this is also the ip of the redhat linux on vmware
also i have give default gateway for the redhat linux as 192.168.0.22 -- i mean the loop back ip address
i able to ping to the 192.168.0.22 and 192.168.0.11 from the win command prompt
and from linux i ping to the loopback adapter it is not pinging
also one more observation
my oracle apps web address

http://shiva.hyd.com:8001 it is opening the home page and not opening the further login pages for OAM and EBS , but when i give the address
as http://192.168.0.11:8001 then it will open even the login page but will not log in to OAM or EBS

Error in db_read & db_get

Hi,
I'm performing a script modification which the scripts involved the db_read and db_get.
I've configured the neccessary DB Resource Name, Data Source Name and Field selection.
When i performed a "Test", CCx returned the below result:
And, when i right-click on the db_get, the below error shown:
The CCx editor (8.0.5) is installed on a laptop, with remote connection to CCx server.
My question:
1. Do i have to establish a network connection to the respective SQL server (DSN) from the laptop that installed CCx for the test?
2. Is the entire script has to pass the SQL query test before upload to UCCx server? I was unable to change the information under the Field selection on db_read as it prompted for Database Name.
Can someone share some light on this?

I think the error message indicated that i do not have the DSN specified.
I believe i need to refresh the Database schema, so that i can choose the DSN from the drop down list,
but as you said, we do not need a network connection for that, so how can i enter the DSN value?
The error msg pop out when i tried to refresh the database schema.

Clusterware/DB Setting For Low Resource System

I'm trying to Install oracle Clusterware on Redhat Linux Using VMWare and it Crashed twice after Successful Installation.
The Node Hangs Whenever I Start Clusterware and Database on a Node and try to change config of any clusterware resource.
Can Anyone help me in Setting proper Settings for
1) Linux Hangcheck Driver
2) RAC Timeout and Failer Detection parameter for CSSD/CRSD and VIP Parameters ?

What do you mean 'and try to change config...' Does it only crash when you attempt this ? If so what are you doing exactly.
On your un-support configuration you may as well leave the hangcheck timer off if you think that is your problem

Fedora 14 segfault

Hello,
is anyone trying VMware Server 2.0.2 on Fedora 14? After changing the vmware-config.pl so that the script gets the correct sources, it compiled perfectly. But now the hostd dies:

I also faced this problem yesterday, when checking the system after update to Fedora 14 was completed. And I was also in a hurry because I needed VMware Server in working order for my daily work.
It seems the libc library provided with glibc package in Fedora 14 is not compatible with VWware Server anymore. I used glibc and zlib packages from Fedora 13 and was able to restart VMWare Server in Fedora 14.
Execute as root:
mkdir fedorafix
cd fedorafix
wget http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/updates/13/x86_64/glibc-2.12.1-4.x86_64.rpm
wget

Restart VMware service. I got then VMware Server working again.
This problem drove me crazy, as I really needed to have this working again as soon as possible. I have posted in my blog the full story about the problem and the search for a solution (sorry, in spanish).

CUCM 8.6.2 Subscriber is down!!!!

Can anyone please help me in this I have got 2 clusters of CUCM 8.6.2 one is Pub and another one is Sub. In the cluster there are 4 nodes
1. CUCM - Pub
2. CUPC
3. UCCX
4. UCXN
1. CUCM - Sub
2. CUPC
3. UCCX
4. UCXN
This complete structure is in VMware. Today my Sub went down completely and all the phones are now registered to PUB. When I went to see in VSphare client to see what is going on I saw that in the CUCM node --> console it is rebooting automatically and is then giving error and asking to insert Recovery disk. When I tried to ping other nodes in the cluster they were completely fine no problems in it. Please see the attached error file. I will really thankful if any one able to help me out in this.

Download the recovery iso from this location and boot up the subscriber from this iso.

Once there it will give you the option to run an automatic or manual file system check. Try the automatic one first and if it does not work then try manual file system check. Thes kind of issues can occur because of improper shutdowns and may lead to reinstallation of sub in case the recovery disk does not fix the issue.

SQL Server 2005 Error Message - when Right Clicking a DB Properties

We are running SQL Server 2005 SP03, we have x15 databases (excluding SBO-COMMON, RSP, Coresuite), all x15 databases have Maintenance Plans setup, tasks ticked:
- Shrink Database
- Clean Up History
- Back up Database (Full)
- Maintenance Clean-up task
These Maintenance Plans have been running for over 5 months now, we have recently changed our VMware Virtual Server over to a Hosted VMware Virtual Server, now when I right click on a certain database and select "Properties" I get the following error message with SQL Server:
Property Owner is not available for Database '[Turquoise_Moon_Live]'. This property may not exist for this object, or may not be retrievable due to insufficient access rights. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)
Could the Maintenance Plan be preventing me to run the Properties against a relevant DB (I have tested this by restoring a DB that doe not have a Maintenance Plan and the Properties works, tested this on SBO-COMMON and it works as well)
Can anyone agree with me or let me know what else might be the issue as I have checked the Server Roles & the Users Credentials for SQL and all seems well.

This solution did not work, but I needed to delete the Maintenance Plans anyway to set it for 1 month instead of 2 Months. I am thinking as we have changed Domains, were the last one was IS Domain and the new one is Hosted Domain, the security issues are probably coming from this (as I am able to access the Properties of the IS Domain SQL Server even with the Maintenance Plans running).
Any thoughts on correcting this as we have changed Domains? (I have created a user as HOSTED\example, the old one was IS\example)

Solaris 10 with zfs root install and VMWare-How to grow disk?

I have a Solaris 10 instance installed on an ESX host. During the install, I selected a 20gig disk. Now, I would like to grow the disk from 20GB to 25GB, I made the change on VMWare but now the issue seems to be Solaris. I haven't seen anything on how to grow the FS in Solaris. Someone mentioned using fdisk to manually change the number of cylinders but that seems awkward. I am using a zfs root install too.

That's the MBR label on the disk. That's easy to modify with fdisk.
Inside the Solaris partition is another (VTOC) label. That one is harder to modify. It's what you see when you run 'format' -> 'print' -> 'partition' or 'prtvtoc'.
To resize it, the only method I'm aware of is to record the slices somewhere, then destroy the label or run 'format -e' and create a new label for the autodetect device. Once you have the new label in place, you can recreate the old slices. All the data on the disk should be stable.
Then you can make use of the space on the disk for new slices, for enlarging the last slice, or if you have a VM of some sort managing the disk.

How to erase a Partition?

I want to erase the secon partition of 32gb that is been used for windows, I changed to VMware Fusion so I dont need to have a second partition.(I think)
So I want to have in just one.
But How to erase that 32gb Partition? on Disk utilities doesn't let me click in any of the options to erase.
If I have to have to be an administrator account, there it is I am the only one that uses the computer, and in only one account.
So please If anybody can help me.
