UCCX HA deployment

Hi All, I can find the install and SRND documentation for UCCX Install but it doesn't actually tell me what is required and how it works. Basically if I have a HA environment, do I need 2 X route points and 2 X CTI ports, will I need to generate these seperatly from each UCCX serbver an hence re-install the applications and scripts and everything else twice, do I need to do a call forward no answer on the primary route point to go to the secondary one?
Many Thanks

Hi Paul
No - you get one CTI RP for each trigger.
You create a group of CTI ports (call control group) once, and if you specify 10 ports on a non-HA system you get 10 ports from the base 10 you enter.
If you have HA, then you get 20 ports after asking for 10 (10 for each server).
As the RP is single and is 'owned' by whichever server is master, you don't have to do any call forwards.
Scripts, config etc is all replicated so aside from the CTI ports for each server, nothing is server specific really.

  • Using Upgrade License on UCCX 8.0 with "Fresh Install" setup

    Hi all,
My situation right now is that I want to install UCCX 8.0 (on a VM environment) and I don't have any previous UCCX version deployed, but the licenses I have are :
    - an Upgrade License from ver.5 to ver.8
    - a PAK and SW kit license (also contains the seats licenses) for UCCX version 5.
Because I don't have any previous UCCX version deployed, I installed UCCX 8.0 and chose "Fresh Install". When I upload the upgrade license, the server returned a warning that said "The license for Cisco Unified CCX Premium Seat ESW or UCSS Upgrade is not a valid addition for the package None and therefore it will be ignored" and "The license for Cisco Unified CCX Premium ESW or UCSS Upgrade is not a valid addition for the package None and therefore it will be ignored".
    My questions are :
    - Can I use the licenses I have on a fresh installation of UCCX 8.0 ( the upgrade license and the ver.5 license) ? Because I've tried similar scenarios with the licenses on Unity Connection and it worked. I'm wondering if it's not possible with UCCX 8.0 and that's what caused the error.
    - If the answer for the "Fresh Install" path is No, does it mean I have to use the "Upgrade" path -what I'm trying to avoid if I can- meaning that I have to install ver.5 first and then upgrade it to ver.8 using PUT( ? Because on the initial setup If I choose "Ugrade from previous version" it will ask where the data from the previous version are located and right now I don't have any.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Regi

Thanks for the answer Hoai Huynh (and Aaron for adding the info).
Just what I was worrying about, I need to build a ver.5 first. I would appreciate it if you can answer a few last questions if you don't mind :
So, I need to install UCCX v.5 and also CM v.5 (because my CM v.8 is not supported by UCCX v.5).
Can the UCCX ver.5 data from the migration tool (PUT) be used on the UCCX v.8 that is integrated with different CM server (different IP address, different credentials, etc) ? Because the steps in the UCCX v.8 upgrade guide are describing a scenario where the CM is the same server and is being upgraded at the same time with UCCX.
Related to no.1 question, Is there anything I should be aware of when setting up the UCCX ver.5 and CM ver.5 ? For example : need to have same IP addresses with the version8 servers, same AXL / application user name and password, etc.
At exactly what point of configuration on UCCX v.5 can I use the PUT to migrate data from the ver.5 (the guide only mentioned to make sure that the server is up and running)? Can I do it right away after the first initial setup ? Or do I need to configure a working application to get all the subsystems in "full-service" first ?
    Thanks again.

  • NUmber of server in UCCX ctl service provider

    Hi
    I have a uccx 9 deployment.
I just want to know what is the maximum number of CTI ,AXL and RmCm provider can be added in uccx.

    From the SRND:
"Cisco Unified CCX has the ability to communicate with up to two CTI Managers within a Cisco Unified CM cluster, but only actively communicates with one at a time."
That's four total if your have HAoW.
I couldn't find the count for AXL in the SRND, but I do recall one point always being made on the forums:
No matter how you have the servers listed, UCCX will always send AXL requests to the Publisher.  I think I'll validate that right now in a lab.  Be right back.
EDIT: I guess I was either remembering incorrectly, the people reporting it were wrong, or it has changed in version 10.  But I listed my AXL providers in this order: Sub1, Sub2, Pub, and I saw all traffic (utils network capture) going to Sub 1 and not a single packet going to Pub or Sub2 for that matter.

  • "Warm transfers" to a queue using ad-hoc conferencing

    Hi all,
Just wondering if someone can help. We have an issue with a UCCX 7 deployment where an agent in a queue initiates what he refers to as a warm transfer to another queue. Essentially he he is transferring a caller to another queue by initiating a conference with the queue and then ending his side of the call once in there, leaving just the caller hearing the "your call is important" type messages. Think of it as holding the callers hand until they have been queued. The issue is that once their call is handed off to the next available agent in the second queue the caller, the new agent AND the queue are now conferenced together ie. the caller and the new agent continue to hear the in queue messages.
Is this the expected behaviour in this scenario? We have asked the agents to simply transfer the callers to the second queue if possible, but as they aren't very happy with what they see as a loss in functionality I'd like to rule out a possible solution before saying it can't be done. The part that I'm not wrapping my head around is how, once the agent leaves the conference, the caller, the new agent and the queue are being conferenced together. Surely the ad-hoc conference ends once there are only two participants, and if so what is initiating the new conference.
Any ideas will obviously be very much appreciated. Cheers in advance
    Jason

That's not the correct name, in my opinion.
The industry standard definition of a "warm transfer" or "consultative transfer" is that the caller is placed on hold while the first agent finds the second agent. Whether the first agent does this directly to the second agent, or does it through the queue, wherein he must wait for the second agent to become available and answer the consult call in the queue, is immaterial.
This is "warm" because the first and second agent can exchange information about the caller, producing a smoother handoff of the call. Once the second agent has been given the information and indicates they will accept the call, the transfer can be completed.
There is no need to do this as a conference - and it is detrimental to do so, as it uses up conferencing resources and bandwidth (a problem in a branch office environment). When done as a consult, and once connected to the target agent, one can even use the alternate-reconnect to toggle back to and forth to the caller and second agent to facilitate introductions. With practice, this can be done correctly without doing a conference.
Should no second agent answer the queued call in a REASONABLE time, the first agent gets the caller back (kills the consult leg) and explains the situation. This is what makes it "warm" - the caller is never left stranded.
Now what your blokes are doing is a bit useless. What is the point of the two parties being in conference to hear the queue message? If the agent wants to dump the caller in the queue, which is what they are doing (nothing "warm" about it), then they can start a consult to the queue point, hear the start of the messaging, and complete the transfer - dumping the caller into the queue.
Basically, they are messed up. They COULD do it with a conference as long as they WAIT for the 2nd agent to answer - then all three parties are in conference. But it my opinion it's not needed. But if they want to dump the caller off into the queue, just use a consult + transfer in the normal way.

    Geoff

  • UCCX 8.0 HA Deployment Type

    All,
I am testing UCCX 8.0 PRE HA and have the following questions about HA deployment Type.
Before UCCX 8.0, UCCX only supports HA on the same Campus LAN, i.e. two servers should be in the same subnet. UCCX 8 now supports HA over WAN. From UCCX 8.0 SRND, the deployment types are:
LAN:     Two servers are in the same Campus LAN
WAN:     HA server is in another site.
What I want to find out:
I would like to put two servers in separate Data Centres (different subnet). However, two data centres are linked by fibre. Round Trip Time is very short and the bandwidth is unlimited. Can I configure the HA deployment type as LAN, but with servers in different subnets?
    Thanks,
    Wenqian

    Hi Wenqian Yu,
I contacted the PDI Helpdesk and they gave me this feedback :
LAN and WAN in this context means delay and latency, not ip addresses and subnets. So, if the servers are in the same building or campus, then they are over LAN.The difference between UCCX over LAN and UCCX over WAN is failure detection and recovery."For HA over LAN deployment, heartbeats are sent every half a second and failover occurs if 5 consecutive heartbeats are missed. For HA over WAN deployment, heartbeats are sent every second and failover occurs if missing 10 consecutive heartbeats. These values are not configurable.""All ACD, IVR, and desktop services will failover within 5 seconds in a LAN environment and 12 seconds in a WAN environment.""It is not uncommon for agents to experience log time is excess of 1 minute in a LAN environment and 3 minutes in a WAN environment."RE: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_9_02/design/guide/UCCX_BK_C39FDB35_00_cisco-unified-contact-center-express.html
I had also a question regarding the CTI Ports Group but I still have no answer for it.
Anyway, thanks you for your experience !

  • UCCX 8.5 Silent Monitoring using Citrix deployment

    Hi all,
We are currently testing a citrix deployment in our contact centre and are looking to ensure we haven't lost any of the current functionality available to our managers when using a PC.
Unfortunately it would appear that silent monitoring doesn't work when using citrix - the option in CSD is greyed out
Does anyone have any experience of a citrix deployment and whether or not this functionality is supported on citrix?
    kind regards
    Paul

    Hi
The default mode (Desktop Monitoring) requires that CAD can 'see' the stream to/from the phone. The phone/PC must be daisy chained and configured appropriately.
Typically in Citrix your server is remote, and CAD software running on the Citrix server is nowhere near the phone.
The only option you have for this is to set up SPAN/RSPAN on your switches to mirror traffic to the UCCX server. This was the server-side services sniff the traffic for recording/monitoring purposes. It can be tricky to set up, especially if you have a WAN deployment...

  • Uccx lan/wan deployment requirement

    Hi All,
I have a ccx case opened with Cisco Tac.
The issue is that I have a CCX HA and my client needs to reinstall the ccx subscriber with the new IP address scheme.
After the reinstllation, I need to logon to the ccx subsricber for initial the ccx database replicatoin.
Unfortunately, I've got the error something saying that I've already had the second node on the HA cluster which I already deleted the node out from the uccx publisher administrator webapage.
The Cisco TAC engineer said that it's because the deployment type and the subnet scheme does not meet the requirements.
If the uccx publisher and the subscriber are in the DIFFERENT subnet, the deployment must be "WAN". But mine is "LAN".
I'm trying to find the deployment documents that mention this requirement but I can't find it. So curious, since the first Tac didn't put this in to concerns.
Does anyone know if this is really matter to the database replicatoin?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Global UCCX deployment - maximum network latency permitted?

We are looking at a global deployment of UCCX. The number of agents will be small, around 25 in total, but globally dispersed.
What is the maximum network latency UCCX can tolerate?
We would be looking to have the UCCX server, PSTN connection and CUCM in a datacentre in London and agents in London, Toronto, Singapore and Santiago.
There would be QoS set on the WAN but latency between London and Santiago could be an issue as it may be 200ms or worse.
    Any feedback would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Andy

Above 150ms, or esspecially 200ms your voice quality will begin to degrade. This is not a CCX limitation.
What will really get you is the amount of CAD signaling. It is a "chatty" application; delay will slow it down. Here is an excerpt from the CCX SRND:
Impact of delays inherent in the applications themselves. 25 seconds is the initial Cisco Unified
CCX agent login setup time with no WAN delay. The overall time to log in agents and base delay
adds approximately 30 seconds of delay per 30 milliseconds of WAN delay.
From page 108 of the Solution Reference Network Design for Cisco Unified CCX and Cisco Unified IP IVR, Release 7.0.
I do not recall there being a documented maximum in the SRND because the BU likely expected the voice RTT delay limit of 150ms to become a problem first.
Also remember that all reporting in CCX is recorded and displayed in server time. Global deployments could be somewhat annoying because all reporting for an agent in another timezone would have to be mentally offset by the person viewing the report. There are similar issues with time-of-day/day-of-week code within scripts but these can be overcome with some work at least.

  • UCCX Upgrade wit CAD deployment task

    Hi All,
As we know that after we do the uccx upgrade, CAD also needs to be done.
The problem is I have around 300 agetns with CAD and doing a upgrade one-by-one is not a good idea.
is there anyway to do a batch deployment ?
    Thanks in advance,

Bear in mind that if you want to allow users to auto-upgrade, they must have administrative access to their PC; that's not usually the case.

As you would aready know, the UCCX will send an AXL request (within the SOAP envelope) to the CUCM to create this RP. Looking at the existing code, there does not seem to be a method where we are differentiating between CFB_internal and CFB_external while sending this request.
We have taken this as an enhancement request and also spoken to the business unit about the same. It has been added to the roadmap, we will reach out to you offline to understand the business case so that the process can be expedited if needed.

  • UCCX finesse email queuing without deploying Socialminer

we had a question as part of a UCCX upgrade to 10.5.
Is it possible for us to use Finesse as an Agent to do Email queuing, without needing to setup Socialminer ?
In that case, how would email integration/relay work ? how would Finesse connect with Exchange 2012 ?
    Thanks

    Hi
No - if you are using Finesse, you need SocialMiner to add all multi-channel capabilities (e.g. chat, email)
If you are using CAD you don't need SM as it uses the legacy service for CAD.

  • UCCX forward to voicemail with additional information

    Hi ,
I'm just looking some other precision about the following question .
I will deploy a script with several languages and if no agent are logged or if we are on closed state. then to send the caller to unity voicemail . On this one there is no issues to perform the script .
My question is the following :
As all my agents are sharing the same CSQ and as we are working with skills ( languages skills ) is possible when the UCCX will forward the call to unity voicemail , to send also the language information collected on the menu via the variable to Unity and push this information into the subject as my agent will use voicemail to email to read/listen their voicemail.
I don't see any way how Unity can handle this information as we want to preserve also the caller identification ( if it was not the case , I was may be able to change the caller id in UCCX so that agents can look at the caller id to know which language is the voicemail )
The other way that I can see is to have 2 voicemail depending the languages and in Exchange/Unity to make an automatic forward decision from a voicemail to the other voicemail and try to present the information of forwarding ( ex: FW from Language_A - Caller ID )
Have you already encountered this question ?
    Many thanks
    Olivier

I would setup a mailbox for each language and send it to the appropriate mailbox based on the language in UCCX.
If you REALLY wanted all of the messages with different languages to show up in one mailbox, you could use Forward Routing Rules in Unity Connection to change the language of the call based on extension number and send it to one mailbox with multiple language greetings recorded.  Personally, I would separate them out.

  • UCCX 10 - running Finesse and CAD simulatenously

Cisco's documentation indicates that CAD and Finesse cannot be run at the same time and that one has to deploy/use either CAD or Finesse. However, the CAD service is never shut down when Finesse is activated and remains running. On my test server, I was able to have both, CAD and Finesse, running and have agents use both clients on the same server.
Is there any additional information that explains in more detail the impact of running CAD and/or Finesse and why they can't be run at the same time? Or if they are, what the side-effects and possible negative impacts?
After I have upgraded to UCCX 10, I would like to gradually switch users over to Finesse. But instead of forcing everyone to switch to Finesse at the same time, I would like to switch one department at a time so I can work out any issue with a small subset of users first. Does anyone have any experience with this?
    Thanks.

    HI,
Pls see the below question and Answer from UCCX Chalk-Talk UCCX 10.
4:Since from UCCX 10 , we can only use either CAD or Finnesse at one time, whats the impact of changing this after some time in production, let say , i used CAD for 2 months and then i decided to move to Finesse, whats the impact ? or is it a smooth change as switching CUIC and HRC in previoius release ?
Ans.For the scenario you mentioned, there is absolutely no problem. The point to note is that the Finesse services are activated/deactivated but the CAD desktop services are ALWAYS running. The only condition to keep in mind is that you can use ONLY ONE type of agent desktop at any time. Also if Finesse is not used and CAD operations are used extensively, it is advisable to shutdown the Finesse service.
