UCCX MOH Problem, multicast

here is the setup :
We have Music on hold box that have an output to a 2911 E&M card.
The 2911 is configure as multicast and the CUCM use this as a Fixed MOH.
At first we saw that MOH on phones was working fine but UCCX MOH was working only with the CUCM sample.wav music on hold.
We did many tests and we found that ;
UCCX ( cti ports )  doesnt support multicast and we need the Music on hold on the phones and on the UCCX.
To fix this issue cisco recommend :
" Configure separate media resource groups (MRGs) for the same MoH server, with one MRG configured to use multicast for audio streams and the second MRG configured to use
unicast. "  ...
" When deploying a single MoH server for both unicast and multicast MoH, configure the server and its audio source for multicast. Assign this same audio source to both the
unicast MRG and the multicast MRG, and check the Use Multicast for MoH Audio box for the multicast MRG. In this case, an MoH stream is unicast or multicast based solely on whether the MRG is configured to use multicast. "
We did it and it doesnt work;  it's a silence for the MOH.
note :
- it seems that the configuration of the E&M only work with multicast.
- we cannot upload the prompt file to the CUCM/UCCX as there is a marketing team who daily change them.
Anyone ?
thanks

Appearently you have drawn the ASA-BE-SPO in the wrong direction.
I noticed a difference in the access-lists on the WAN-side for both ASA's.
ASA-VLD allows traffic from 10.100.0.0 255.255.254.0, this is required for the multicast traffic to operate.
In the other ASA, there is no entry for traffic with a source of 10.100.0.0.

Leo

  • UCCX scripting problem

    Hi,
I am trying to develop a script for UCCX 7.0. I opened Unified CCX Editor started new script, put an accept step and a terminate a step with delay step between the a two of em, uploaded my script to the appadmin page and created a new application for it and. When dialing my application trigger i got "soory we are experiencing problems now please call later". When I try to use the default "aa.aef" script instead of mine It works great. what should I check to have my script work.
    Best Regards

Is the timestamp close to the time of your issue?  I would imagine that it's not the cause of the issue as you're getting to the UCCX server and hearing the standard error message about the system problem.  I think that looking in the MIVR logs will shed a bit more light as to what is happening when you call into your application.

  • UCCX MOH

    Hello All,
I am changing the MOH file in my telephony environment ( CUCMBE 7.1.3, UCCX 7.0) and just had a quick question regarding MOH files.  Once I add the new MOH file to CM and make it available to all of the phones is there anything I need to do on the UCCX side?  Just resync maybe?  Just curious.
    Any info would be great.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Hello Jeff,
At the UCCX side you don't need to perform any change as long as the agents has access to the proper MRG no changes needs to be perform.

  • A networking problem (multicasting)

I think that's not the place to ask this, but i couldnt find a suitable forum here. Anyway, the problem is i create a MulticastDatagramSocket and join to a address. And receive and send with two threads. But when i send a packet, the same socket receives that packet also. Is it normal? What is the most effective way to prevent this?

That is normal, each socket is a member of the Multicast group and each member receives all packets. Its down to you really, say the packet was a chat room message, you just send the user name with the message and if a client receives a message with its user name it ignores it.

    Hi,
Have you try to install the cop file for the refresh upgrade?

Apply COP File, so that when you upgrade later, the system can detect whether the upgrade is an RU or not.
I did an upgrade a few months ago and I installed the ciscouccx.refresh_upgrade_v1.3.cop file and worked fine.
Just keep in mind that there was a bug when you try to upgrade to 10.5. When you try to run the switch version command, the server never change the partition. I had to open a TAC case to handle some configuration as root user. I think the bug is the CSCup83263

  • UCCX Script problem

    Hello Everybody,
I have big problem with one small part of my script in UCCX 8.5 (Std).
I have one String = "aaa, bbb" and I want to split it to two strings first "aaa" and second "bbb"
I set new variable: String one dimension array.
    When I add "Set myStringArray = myString.split(",")",
my script has completly dead, I cant debug it, and after some seconds I hear error message.
What is bad with this line of code?
    Regards.

Thank you aaronharrison  for quick reply.
I'm still reading documentation and digging in net, and few minuts ago I added:
    Do myStringArray = new String[2]
    Exactly as you wrote:)
I checked that I can put some data in particular variable in array, as example.
    Set myStringArray[0] = "something"
and it works fine, but "split method" doesnt works.
Could you please tell me something about how to get logs and exceptions?
    Best Regards.

  • CME MOH Problem

    Hello guys!
So i want to change the moh on a CME, but when i do this change, the new song sizzle when i put de the caller on hold.
I put the new song on a tftp server, i download the new file on the voice gateway from the tftp.
    conf t
    telephony-service
    moh newsong
I go on the CME, MOH File, i write the name of the new song and "set".
I try all of convert ->
    .au 8bits 8000hz
    .wav 8bit 8000hz
    Like write here :
"The file can be in .au or .wav file format, but  the file format must contain 8-bit 8-kHz data; for example, ITU-T A-law  or mu-law data format".
    But still d'ont work
Thanks for u help guys !
    Regard

The WAV/AU file must be encoded in G.711 u-law. Setting it to 8bit, 8000hz mono isn't sufficient. I have attached a screenshot of Exporting a recording to this format in Audacity.

  • UCCX CSD problem

    Hello guys,
Recently we started facingt this issue that whenever a supervisor logs into CSD, after a while he receives a message saying: "Another supervisor just logged in with the same ID you are logged in with. You will be logged off and the Supervisor Desktop will close".
What I have noticed is that when a new supervisor logs in to CSD, it kicks the already logged in supervisor out of CSD with the above message and vice verse. But all supervisors have unique ID's and extensions.
    System version: 8.0.2.11004-12
Any idea on what could be causing this issue?
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    Thanks for the reply.
I don't know how, but the issue got resolved on it's own and we are not facing it anymore.
The only thing I did was to restart the whole system, but I did noticed the issue was still there even after that.
But I did checked the supervisor logs during the time the issue was there and I couldn't find any error related to this.
    Regards,

  • Probably simple question on how UCCX works

Does UCCX actually handle the phone call, or does it drop it off to Call Manager when an agent takes the call?  The reason I'm asking is because we're having complaints about queue calls dropping and Agent Desktop loosing connection and then reconnecting a few seconds later.

OK, that's what I thought.  The others in IT think that UCCX handles all of it, but I told them that when an agent answers the call CUCM takes over.  The dropped calls aren't UCCX's problem as much as it would be CUCM's problem, but the issue seems to only be happening to our tech support people who are using 7925g phones.  One other person with a 6941 in the same area reported a couple of dropped calls as well.
    Thanks for the quick response!

  • Ringback not working when call is offered

When a call is offered to an agent the caller hears dead silence on their end. I have the Call Control Group configured to use the correct MOH source. I have verified that the file will work by changing my MOH for my device to it and it plays. I have also changed all of the CTI ports to use this file for MOH and restarted the CUCM IP Media Voice Streaming Service still without any luck. Anyone know of something I am missing? I am running CUCM 9.1.2 and UCCX 9.0.2

One common cause of silent MoH is multicast not working. CUCM sends SDP with a multicast address (because the audio source, moh server, and mrg all are set to allow it) but either the router doesn't have multicast enabled or the group isn't being propegated from CUCM to the router.
Turn off multicast on those three places, reset the moh server, and see if you get audio. If you do, you may still want to fix multicast and turn it back on since it provides far better scale.

do the Cache, CacheStore, and CacheLoader all need to run in the same JVM?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

they can be in differnt DP with no problem.
    Now question:
1-MOH multicast/Unicast? (Multicast MOH ONLY support G711, so that could explain changing the DP fixnig the problem)
[You can create a DP/region for MOH if multicast to talk G711 to everybody and the problem will get fix]
    Please Kudos/rate if this help!

  • No Music on Hold

Hi, We have a MoH problem. When we place a call internally direct from Phone to Phone or a call from external over a CTI routepoint thru an IVR to a phone MoH works fine. In the Wireshark trace you could see following message for starting multicast "StartMulticastMediaReception".
But when we make a internal call from one phone over a CTI route point thru an IVR to a phone then we get no music on hold. In this case the Wireshark message for starting Multicast is different "StartMediaTransmission".
    Thank`s

Martin, did you ever figure out the solution to this?  I am having the same issue.

  • Device Weight: Route Pattern Vs IP Phone

Hi, we are starting the planning for removing two CO class GTD5 switches that route 28,000 DID numbers for the County. The switches are +16 years old and maintenance is expensive. Our Callmanager cluster is designed to replace the existing phone infrastructure (2 CO switches, +60 PBXs, and +20 key systems). Here's a quick overview of our Cluster:
    - Publisher only running database services (MCS7845H2)
    - Two TFTP servers only running TFTP service and MOH streaming (multicast) (MCS7835H)
    - Two subscribers configured as 1-to-1 backup (MCS7845H2)
    - CCM version 4.1(3)sr3b
We are planning to add the additional six MCS7845H2 subscribers as we need the capacity.
The first step in our migration is to move all the DID's to new T1/PRI's on a set of six Communication Media Modules (CMM) spread out over four Cat6513 switches.
Essentially our CCM cluster will be acting as a Tandem switch until we get all the trunks moved off the GTD5 CO switches to the CMMs.
Unfornutately all of the 28,000 DIDs are pretty much shot gunned all over the County. So, we will have +20,000 route patterns in the beginning. Over time we will also be converting sites to IP Tel and removing the route patterns as we migrate.
My question: Does a route pattern for one directory number carry the same device weight as an IP phone with the directory number assigned to a line?
We are thinking it does and if it does, then we need to scale up our CCM cluster for 30,000 devices before we start the migration.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
    Tom.

Thanks Greg for taking the time to reply. Our cluster design is following the "Cisco Callmanager Best Practices" book. The Publisher and TFTP servers are not running the Callmanager service. This allows 8 subscribers running the Callmanager service in the Cluster.
Our research is trying to understand the cost of a route pattern in terms of the dialing forest and the impact on the subscriber's memory and CPU.
We own two complete prefixes plus another 8,000 DNs from a third prefix. We fortunately do not have an overlapping dialing plan. Each directory number will either be assigned to an IP phone or it will belong to phone on a PBX.
All directory numbers for IP phones belong to the same partition and we also followed the Best Practices book for our dialing plan and use the line/device CSS design.
All +80 remote sites connect back to our GTD5 and the GTD5 routes all the numbers to the remote sites.
We are first migrating all the DID services to our new PRI's handled by the Callmanager cluster. We when start the migration it will be a simple process of a route pattern such as [4-5]XXXX to route the 874-xxxx and 875-xxxx numbers to the GTD5. Then as we disconnect the tie-lines from each remote PBX and re-connect it to the CMM for Callmanager to route, we will need to add all the specific route patterns to route the numbers for the site.
It would be ideal if we did not have to retire the GTD5 switch. We would follow our 5 to 7 year plan to migrate the entire County to IP Tel and leave the GTD5 in place routing the numbers to the remote PBXs. However, we have been directed by management to decommission the GTD5 switch within 12 months.
So we are trying to understand the impact to the subscribers when we begin adding 1,000's of route patterns. We are planning to consolidate as many of the route patterns as possible to reduce the number of route patterns. However, we inherited a design that we refer to as "Number-lose-ability", where individual numbers are routed and not blocks of numbers. Over the years of adds, moves, and changes the numbers have been scattered to all the sites. We have very few sites with consecutive numbers.
Another question that we are trying to answer: what is the cost of a route pattern such as 5555x compared to 10 individual route patterns for the same number range. Again, in terms of memory and CPU on the subscriber doing the digit analysis. We are asking this question because we may have 6 of the 10 numbers going to the same PBX, but the other 4 numbers each going to a different site. To consolidate route patterns we would add the 5555X pattern and the four individual route patterns. What we do not know is how the 5555x is added to the dialing forest. Is it expanded to 10 patterns or just one expression.
    Thanks again for any help,

  • UCCX 7: Network MoH ringback not working with Multicast MoH.

    Hi All,
I have a CUCM and UCCX installed in a Data Centre serving a site across a WAN,  on the site there are agents using CAD and a backup SRST router, unicast MoH was streamed across the WAN from CUCM in G729 format and network MoH (ringback.wav file) from the CTI ports to give ringback to calls been transferred to agents in the call centre.
To conserve BW and have better quality MoH, Multicast MoH was configured to stream the User MoH from the routers flash instead of a G729 unicast stream across the WAN. To get Multicast MoH to work I had to change the MoH streaming codec from G729 to G711u on the CUCM. This enables the CUCM to get signal to the phones to join the Multicast stream on the SRST router when a call is placed on hold but as this is a cluster parameter it stopped the ringback MoH on the CTI ports resulting in no ringback when callers are been transferred to the agents in the contact centre. Is there any way I can get the script to play the ringback.wav file when transferring calls to agents or get the call manager to stream the ringback across the WAN while Multicast MoH is implemented?
Any help or ideas would be really appreciated
    Thanks
    Neil

    Hi,
When the call is ringing on the agents phone CUCM should be sending the appropriate commands to the endpoints to join whatever multicast stream you have configured for network hold. The issue is that no multicast stream is available on that IP address/port number combination. (I assume that you have set the SRST MoH parameters to match what is sent for user hold).
SRST versions up to 7.x only support one MoH stream. However SRST 8.0 has extended this to five streams so I think this could be a solution to your problem. Check out the document below.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/voice_ip_comm/cusrst/feature/guide/MOH_srst.html
You will need IOS Release 15.0(1)XA to support this feature.
An alternative would be to stream the MoH from another multicast source. This could be a PC running VLC if things were tight.
Please let us know how you get on.
