UCCX upgrade 5.0 to 9.0

Hello,
We are planning an UCCX upgrade from 5.0 to 9.0 on a UCS server. We're going to do a fresh install, and I would like to know if we will be able to use the old scripts and prompts on the new version, or will we have to build the scripts from scratch. If anybody has had a similar experience, I would appreciate the advice.
Best regards,
Ivana

Yes!  Scripts and prompts from older versions work on newer versions as well.  The opposite is not true however, so if you upgrade to UCCX 9x, and need to roll back for some reason, your scripts from the UCCX 9x will not work on UCCX 5x.  Not that I think your upgrade wont work, or that you couldn't just restore from a UCCX 5x backup though.  I'm just covering both scenarios here.
One thing to note, in UCCX versions 7x and lower, people could script incorrectly, and it would still work.  However, starting in UCCX 8x, there are additional restrictions and security measures in place, which will make those scripts fail.  Be sure to do your testing of all scripts before going live on UCCX 9x.  One of the major offenders of this is using the Write Document step to write files to the local C:\.  So, if you open all of your scripts, and do a CTRL+F "Write Document", to find this step, you may be able to correct it now, before you even go through the upgrade.

  • UCCX Upgrade wit CAD deployment task

    Hi All,
As we know that after we do the uccx upgrade, CAD also needs to be done.
The problem is I have around 300 agetns with CAD and doing a upgrade one-by-one is not a good idea.
is there anyway to do a batch deployment ?
    Thanks in advance,

Bear in mind that if you want to allow users to auto-upgrade, they must have administrative access to their PC; that's not usually the case.

  • UCCX UPGRADE

    Hi Everyone
I wanted to know can someone tell me if I'm ordering the correct software for my upgrade. We are currently in the process of upgrading our CUCM to 9.1(1a) and we have to be at version 8.5.1 SU3 inorder to keep it running when we move to 9. We have 2 UCCX servers and I want to make see if this is what I need, I'm looking at ordering CCX-UPG-P-85-85K9= CCX PRE 8.5 to 8.5 PRE ESW Maintenance Upgrade. Is this the correct version that I need or should I be looking at something else.

  • UCCX Upgrade Query

    Hello,
I need some assistance while upgrading the UCCX 8.5.1 to 8.5.1 SU4
    1. What should I upgrade first Master or Slave ?
    2. While upgrading a node should I switch the version of the server and then move to the other node OR swtich version should be done after upgarding all the nodes ?
    3. How does the database replication happens ?
    Thank you in Advance.

Upgrade the Publisher first then the Subscriber (Master and Slave terms not really relevant as they just refer to which server is active for a process not the database setup)
After Subscriber upgrade is complete switch versions on the Pub then, after all the services on the Pub have started, switch versions on the Sub.

  • UCCX upgrade from from Release 7.0 to 8.5

Planning to upgrade from Release 7.0 (1) SR04ES02_Build023 to Release 8.5.11003-32 (SU3). Does anyone have a simple step-by-step guide, powerpoint they can share? I understand first I have to apply a SR5?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated -

    Hi Lewton,
You need to bring your current system to UCCX 7.0(1)_SR5 and than perform the upgrade to 8.5 version.
Unified CCX 8.5(1) offers a direct solution for Cisco Unified CCX 7.0(1) SR5 or
7.0(2) to upgrade to Unified CCX 8.5(1).
    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
Have you try to install the cop file for the refresh upgrade?
    Upgrade Scenario
    Tasks
    10.0.x to 10.5(1)
    Single Node Setup:
Apply COP File, so that when you upgrade later, the system can detect whether the upgrade is an RU or not.
I did an upgrade a few months ago and I installed the ciscouccx.refresh_upgrade_v1.3.cop file and worked fine.
Just keep in mind that there was a bug when you try to upgrade to 10.5. When you try to run the switch version command, the server never change the partition. I had to open a TAC case to handle some configuration as root user. I think the bug is the CSCup83263

    Upgrade steps
Current Version – 9.0.2.11001-24 upgraded to intermediate COP version
ciscouccx.refresh_upgrade_v1.3.cop.sgn - Used for upgrades from Unified CCX 8.5(1)SU4 or Unified CCX 9.0(2)SU1 or Unified CCX 10.0(1)SU1 to Unified CCX 10.5(1).
    Added 10.5 to inactive partition
Then increased the memory to 8GB and then done switch version

Now the services started up..Not sure why it took so long.
I have uploaded the demo license comes with ISO file , i could see it in the licences list but when i start new session it shows like this
Could see the installed licensed as above.
Please help me to find what exactly needed to be added to make it to work.

  • UCCX Upgrade Directions

Does anyone have a link to documentation to upgrade UCCX from 7.0(1) to 7.0(2)?

Is there a reason to upgrade to this version?   Im assuming to be used with Windows 7.  If not, then maybe hold off until you are ready for a big upgrade to 8.5.    But here are the release notes for 7.0.2

  • UCCX upgrade licensing

I will be doing a UCCX 5.x to 8.02 upgrade. The current 5.x systems is licensed with 33 premium seats. I have the major upgrade 5 to 8 PAK already, but the customer does not have the 5.x premium license file, and it it is not on the server. All UCCX 8's I have done have been new builds. Am I going to need to apply the 5.x licenses after the upgrade? I will be doing the Pre Upgrade Tool converted backup, and the subsequent restore after upgrade. Will that automatically license my agents? Thanks in advance.

I know I would have to go to licensing to get a copy, but I wanted to know if I had to have them. Ia ssumed I did, and I probably want them anyway even if I don't in case it needed to be reinstalled on teh old release. Thanks.

  • UCCX upgrade to v8.0

    Hello Guys,
To begin with, I'm a newbie, so spare my "not so technical language".My team has been running a 500~ Agent UCCX & we're planning to upgrade to v8.0. My task here is to upload the prompts / scripts from old system to the new one. However, since the new system is a Linux system ( If I'm not wrong ) , I'm unable to locate the path where I uploaded the prompts in the webview &  I'm unable to edit the location of the Prompts.
In short, the files are usually located in C:\Program Files\wfavvid
What is the path in linux?

CCX is probably the most difficult VTG product to get started with. The product documentation is solid but does a poor job of bootstrapping someone new to the product. To my knowledge there are no CBT or videos out there for the product. The only training available are the UCCXD and UCCXA courses offered through Cisco Learning Partners. If you can't get budget dollars for the courses directly be sure that cisco training credits are included on every Cisco order you place. Many customers "sneak" training credits in the margins of each purchase order to get them.
The general principal to understand with CCX scripts is this: You are programming in Java. The more you know about programming and the Java language the better off you'll be.
Lastly, TAC is a break/fix organization and not a Cisco partner who offers professional services consulting. While they will help you fix a broken product they won't help you plan out the upgrade and identify potential problems ahead of time. Also be aware that TAC will not support your custom scripts at all.
PS- When we say CCX 8.0, I mean at least 8.5(1)SU2. There are so many bugs that most of the 8.0 releases are not viable. The 8.5.1(SU2) release is the first build the BU will even attempt to label as stable.

  • UCCX Upgrade Media

Could someone please tell me how to go about getting UCCX 7 upgrade media?
I recently got a UCSS contract which should allow me to upgrade but cannot figure out how to get the media. The PUT tool only allows upgrades to version 8.x+.
TAC was no help and told me I needed to buy it? Isn't that what I bought UCSS for?
Anyway, this has been going on for over a year now, if anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.
I am currently on 5.0.2 and would like to go to 7.x.

    Hi,
as far as I know you can order media kits, for 20-30 dollars if I am not mistaken, but you won't have the licenses.
And as far as I know you can't upgrade to something that has already past its EoL date.
    Take a look at this:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/custcosw/ps5693/ps7236/end_of_life_notice_c51-627280.html
The last day to renew your support contract was April 17th this year (2012).
Is UCCX 8.x not an option for you? I mean UCSS is great because you can have all the latest stuff as long as you're at the party.

  • UCCX Upgrade to SU4

i am upgrading UCCX 8.5 to SU4. how much time it will take to install Service Update 4. also whether the Service Update installing will affect the current working of UCCX version.

FYI 8.5(1)SU4ES02 doubles the memory available to UCCX.
UCCX has, for as long as I can recall, had 256MB available to it to process your scripts.  This increase takes it to 512MB.

  • UCCX upgrade, need to reload the data

I have just install 8.5 in the lab to test and I used a PUT file. I would like to reload that data without reinstalling UCCX.
Is there a flag that I can change to do this? or do I need to reload UCCX?
    Thanks.

    Hi Carlo,
    If I understand your query.
Now you have restored on UCCX 8.5  once using the PUT tool in the lab and will test it for a week.
After this you would like to take one more backup using the PUT tool on the older UCCX system, and Restore it again on the UCCX 8.5 system (built freshly), Yes you can do this. Provided that you have a License MAC (or you can request for new UCCX license incase if your license MAC is different from the previously build UCCX 8.5 system) matching your newly built UCCX 8.5 system.
Note: PUT tool version is very specific to each UCCX 8.x release, so please use the respective PUT tool to take the backup of the older UCCX system.
You can restore the sambackup of file multiple times also, but everytime you need to bring the UCCX 8.5 system freshly.
    Hope it helps.

  • Upgrading UCCX version 7.X to 10.X

I am little confused ,since CCX running on 7.0 in windows platform, how can i upgrade to 10.0 in Linux platform,
CCX is running on MCS 7825 server,what is possible way to migrate and upgrade!!!

    Hi,
    As per the following link
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/customer-collaboration/unified-contact-center-express/116797-technote-uccx-00.html
UCCX Version 10.0 does not support Windows-to-Linux upgrades. This means that any UCCX version from Version 7.0(2)ES3 and earlier cannot be upgraded in a single step to UCCX Version 10.0. Windows UCCX installations must first be upgraded to the latest Service Update (SU) on Version 8.5(1), or to the latest SU on Version 9.0(2). Then, that version can be upgraded to UCCX Version10.0. As of November 15, 2013, the interim versions for Windows to Linux upgrade to UCCX 10.0 were 8.5(1)SU4 and 9.0(2)SU1.
Refer to Cisco Unified Contact Center Express (Cisco Unified CCX) Software and Hardware Compatibility Guide for the latest information on UCCX upgrade compatibility.

  • UCCX 8.5 to 9 upgrade in vm environment

    Hello
We are looking at upgrading a UCCX 8.5 running on VM4 to UCCX 9 with VM5.
Is a licensing server required for this upgrade? (And side quesiton also for
    Call Manager and Unity?)
    Thanks
    Mike Kana

By VM4 to VM5 I am assuming you mean VMware ESXi 4.X to 5.0. If so no licensing is required for VMWare portion, UCCX upgrade needs to be ordered via PUT. Same with UCXN and CUCM, keep in mind that licensing for those apps has changed with version 9 and ELM instance is required to license the users, ELM is installed by default during the upgrade and license upgrade process is documented in the upgrade guide.
