UCM and video convert?

I need UCM configuration for automatically converting video when users check-in. I’ve susccesfully configured plugin flipfactory but software’s license was too expensive to use, so I’ve been trying writing application which automatically scans new file and uses ffmpeg to convert video, then I didn’t know how to check-in converted file into rendition information in UCM like plugin flipfactory.
I also don’t have much documentary about conversion component.
Can anyone suggest me what to do in this case?
Regards

This is a problem iTunes/Quicktime has converting muxed video files. Try using iSquint to convert them instead.

I need easy audio and video converting and editing software that wont cost $400.

I highly recommend you try Video Monkey. It's free, though donations are certainly accepted, and does an excellent job of converting .mov to .wmv. Choose Best (2 Pass) for Encoding Speed and depending upon the size of your original file, uncheck 320 pixels wide to create a larger converted image. I set Quality to "Go Nuts".
Another good commercial program is Video Converter Ultimate for Mac. It works as video converter and editor. The version for 2 Pass conversion is approximately $69. , which is considerably less than the $400+ that Adobe Premiere is asking for its editor. I'd still prefer a freebie though, but there's little choice...

There is at least one way on each operating system (windows and mac) to rip your own dvds and then transfer them to itunes and finally put them on your ipod. A mac is the easiest of the two ways. If you have a mac, then you download a program off of the web called handbrake (just "google" >handbrake rip dvds< and its homepage should pop up or try <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://handbrake.m0k.org). Handbrake allows you to copy and convert your dvds to ipod format. On a windows operating system the most effective way i have found to rip my dvds is quicktime pro($25-$35). You can buy it at quicktime's website. It basically does the same thing as handbrake. I, myself, have simply converted some videos, like sports shows and commercials, to ipod format using itunes and both the video and audio worked fine.

  • Latest version itunes and video converter

so i downloaded the new itunes, and installed it. everything is good. it has a new feature to convert videos into the mpeg4 format to put onto the ipod video. here is where my problem lies, i have converted some videos i have on my computer and after they convert, they dont have any sound. I was wondering if anyone else encountered this problem and if there is a fix to it?
    cheers

iTunes and Quicktime don't much like muxed MPEG files, they lose the sound when you convert them.

  • Best Mac video converter (file based) - Search is down...

    Greetings,
I was planning on doing a search, but it's down at this time...
I'm looking for what's considered to be the best and most flexible file based video converter for the Mac. I need to convert VCD's to a format iMovie 08 can edit to output a DVD (yes, yes, I'm aware of quality between the two, this is what my friend needs...)
With the same software I'd like to do all of the fancy conversion file to file be it FLV, MOV, DAT, MPEG etc.
I've been looking at Aimersoft, iSkysoft, and Video Converter for Mac so far.
Any suggestions and personal experience would be wonderful!

There seems to be no need to rename the file extension. I just selected the file from inside the VCD folder and was recognized as a video file.
It's currently converted, but looks glitchy (not on the original). Maybe this is just a product of playing a high demand file on my MacBook?

  • Video Converter settings

I want to bring an assortment of video clips into FCP. Since the settings and sources of these clips is so varied, I decided to run them all through Video Converter so they'd all have the same settings when I bring them into FCP. I'd also like to set things up so I have little or not rendering in FCP. I thought I had the settings in Video Converter matched to my sequence settings, but when I drop the clips onto the timeline I get the message "This clips does not match the settings of this sequence or any of your sequence preset." I suppose I could just say "Yeah, go ahead and change this sequence to match the clip," but this doesn't seem like the optimum thing to do.
When I set up FCP, I used the Easy Setup and chose NTSC DV.
I see the following settings in the FCP sequence:
    Frame Size: 720x480
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: NTSC - CCIR/DV (720x480)
    Field Dominance: Lower (even)
    Editing Time Base: 29.97
    QT Settings
    Compressor: DV/DVCPRO - NTSC
    Quality: 100%
    Audio Settings
    Rate: 48 Khz
    Depth: 16 bit
    Config: Channel Group
In Video Converter, I entered the following settings:
    VIDEO
    Encoder: Xvid
    Frame rate: 29.97
    Resolution: 720x480
    AUDIO
    Encoder: ACC
    Sample rate: 48 Khz
    Channels: 2 channel stereo
    Bitrate: 96 kbps
What settings should I use in FCP and Video Converter to make them play nicely together? In case it makes a difference, this will eventually be dumped to Mini DV tapes and also built into a DVD project.
    Thanks!
    Bryce

These are just a bunch of clips from lots of sources. Most of them say they're mpgs, but when I was dealing with a similar issue in Motion, I got following reply in the Motion forum about mpgs:
There are a LOT of different kinds of files that could be called mpegs. It would help to know exactly what you're dealing with. What is the extension (.m2t, .mpg, .mp4, .m2v, etc.). The important part of this is to understand that mpegs in general are NOT meant as an editing codec. They are primarily a delivery or capture format. Most times, this means that they need to be transcoded to a format for editing like .mov.
If these files are AVCHD files, then chances are FCP can transcode the files into an editable codec/format for use in Motion. The transcoding process doesn't even take that long since FCP is essentially just rewrapping the file in a QT wrapper.
Motion is pickier about what it will work with than even FCP.<<
In addition, I'm using some streaming clips I downloaded using "Download Helper" from my Firefox browser. Video Converter was the reliable way I found to convert these files to mp4's.
I don't use Compressor because I've never learned how to use it. I was unaware it could do something like this

Having problems connecting iMac(late 2006) running 10.7.5 to a Samsung Flat Screen TV using separate audio/speaker cable and HDMI standard cable, mini-DVI to HDMI video converter.  TV displays generic Apple galaxy background and "some" windows (e.g. screen resolution choices).   It does not show Mail or Safari menus.  System preferences'  display "gathered" the Samsung and chose its resolution.  I did not find a way to select the Samsung as my display.
In addition to having old hardware, we have Verizon FIOS providing internet and TV access.  Is there any way to make this work for us?  We would like to stream video (Netflix) and view shows from the Web.  Do we need Apple TV to do this?  Or is it not possible with our old iMac?  My husband thinks that our Airport could be a factor.
    Thank you

Lately, I have been seeing a lot of posts with users trying to use their Macs/iMacs to mirror their streaming video from their Macs to an HDTV.
There are, actually, many alternatives to choose from than just from a Mac.
You need to have or invest in a WiFi capable router for all of these examples.
Apple TV only integrates with WiFi and newer Mac hardware. So, if you want to have total integrated experience, if you have a 2011 Mac or newer, you might as well pay the $100 for the AppleTV box.
If you have a older Mac, like I have noticed many users do, then you have other options.
If you want to elimate long cable clutter and having your Mac at the mercy of your TV all of the time,  you can still use the AppleTV box independently or purchase cheaper alternative media streaming boxes from Roku, Sony, Boxee or any number of electronics manufacturers that now have media streaming boxes and media streaming capability built into DVD/Blu-ray players.
These eliminate long cable clutter by being close to the HDTV where shorter, less expensive cables can be used.
Another alternative for iPad users is to use an iPad with the USB/HDMI video adapter and use your iPad as the streaming box. This ties up your iPad in much the same way as it does with your Mac, but again the iPad can be close to the TV and use minimal cables to the TV.
Another alternative to is to use a combination of an iPad and your Mac to stream content that is only available to stream online from a computer. In this case, you can use a desktop remote app on your iPad and Mac. A good and cheap Desktop Remote app is Splashtop Remote. This allows you to completely connect your iPad remotely, over Wifi, to your iMac desktop. The app streams both video and sound to the iPad which is still connected to your HDTV. The resultant stream video picture will be smaller than the size of your HDTV, but it will still be plenty large enough to watch. Again, if you own a iPad and an Intel Mac, this method also allows minimal cabling to the TV.

  • Converted VOB file to mpeg with Freemake Video Converter and still not able to load same file in Premiere CS6

I have this project where I needed to change the audio part from a dvd so first tried to load VOB file but Adobe Premiere did not support VOB file so then used Freemake Video Convert tool to convert in to mpeg file so that I can import in premiere timeline. Still no success so I guess its not supported either.

Maybe you are missing some codec. CS6 does support mpeg.

  • And the smartest video converter out there is…?

Video conversion has always been a pain for me. Its one thing that has kept me from putting movies on my iPhone 3g and now iPhone 4. I have practically never used my iPhone(s) for watching movies! reason… i only wanna watch movies on my iPhone when i'm travelling and then there is too little time to convert them.
what i have learnt so far is that videos have two encodings, container and codec (if i'm not wrong). i noticed, as i mentioned in another post of mine, that most of my videos have the codecs that are supported by idevices, however, they have containers that are not native, eg. flv, avi. So far, the video conversion softwares i've used, like handbrake & miro (from the mac app store), tend to encode the whole video again which takes about an hour for a 700 mb movie. is there a converter out there which would take the effort to first analyze the video and then convert only the necessary components (container, codec or both... if necessary)?
i dont know if such a thing even exists but i'm not willing to spend money on getting an all format video player for iPhone since the lite versions of many itself have some glitch in playback. instead i would spend some more on a decent converter.
please tell me what is the best path i can take. my movie collection spans 200gbs!
    Neerav

I don't know if you can separate the container and codec so easily, but the most complete converter I've found so far (and I tried many over the years) is iFunia, available on the App Store (about 12$ for a limited time). For many containers you can choose between a variety of codecs within.

  • Audio and video out of sync after converting to mp4

I've tried 3 converters (ImToo, Xilisoft, and Videora) and for 2 videos I really want on my ipod, the audio and video are offset. Infact, on Xilisoft, one wouldn't even convert (to anything ------as both are WMV and I thought that might be a problem--but I found I had another WMV that had the audio matching the video fine). For the other vid., I tried on Xilisoft making it an AVI first, but that AVI also had messed up audio/video
This is a really broad question, but what can I do and what programs can I try to get the videos to convert properly??
(I've tried uploading the wmvs to itunes to have itunes "convery for ipod", but they wouldn't even upload to itunes)

  • Audio and video out of sync on converted AVI file

I am trying to convert a DVD to an AVI for playback on a device. When I import the DVD and publish it as an .AVI the output audio and video are out of sync. After about an hour of playback the audio lags the video by a full second. How can I correct this problem?

If you have Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 8 and you want to rip VOBs from the DVD-VIDEO to export subsequently to DV AVI, here are the details....
    1. Do you have DVD-VIDEO standard or widescreen? Set the Premiere Elements 12 project preset manually.
File Menu/New/Project. Set the project preset to NTSC or PAL DV Standard or NTSC or PAL DV Widescreen depending on what you have.
Before you exit the new project dialog, make sure that you have a check mark next to Force Selected Project Setting on this Project.
    2. In the Premiere Elements workspace, use Add Media/DVD camera or computer drive/Video Importer to get the VOBs (only the ones in the series VTS_01_1.VOB. Set to a folder in the Save In: location. Check mark next to Insert in Timeline. Hit Get Media.
    3. If you have an orange line OVER the Timeline content, press the Enter key to get the best possible preview of what you have on that Timeline.
If after all that, the audio is out of sync, then use the Command Prompt method to get the individual VOBs into a single file with all the VOBs seamlessly merged. This worked nicely for a recent user here. See details in my blog post how to for the Command Prompt way.

Please do not hesitate to ask if you need clarification on anything that I have written.
Depending on your results, more information may be requested about the specific properties of what you have on that DVD disc.
    Thank you.
