UCM Data Control (getItems)

Hi All,
I am trying to display Webcenter content data in Tree structure using Data Controls getItems function.
I am able to display folder/subfolder and files in ADF tree.When I click on any file in Tree node , i am able to see corresponding file in same window and its Metadata info. I am able to update the corresponding selected file metadata information using RIDC library.
Isuee i am getting, When i click on file on any sub folder in Tree , I could not see corresponding file..But I select top folder files in tree , i can cooresponding file and metadata info.
When I drog drop the getItems function in ADF web page, i just select Tree component and custom data field in data control.
Any idea , Why i don't see subfolder files in my page when i select in tree node. Do i need to logic on Tree to onSelection node?
Thanks in Advance.

Hi Daniel, Thanks for quick response.
I am able to display Correct Tree of webcenter Content Folders and files.
The problem is when I select any file in sub node , i don't see corresponding node data(i.e file content and metadata field) in page. But it works fine when i select top node file in Tree then it display corresponding file and metadata info. It there is no problem for refreshing file and metadata dispaly area.
Thanks

  • Using UCM data controls in ADF application

    Using *.6 Jdeveloper/UCM/Protal Application/UCM
    Calling all the experts in Webcenter/Spaces/UCM/ADF.
    We have a requirement to design search inteface for Documents stored in UCM for Webcenter Portal and Spaces application.
    Our approach is
    Design simple ADF application (no security/templates)
    Bounded task flows using fragments.
    Framents to use UCM data controls (provided by oracle)
    UCM data control definition is extended to use custom metadata.
    package the application.
    Added as ADF library jar to portal application
    Added as Shared Library to Spaces application.
    Question.
    Is this approach sound?
    Does UCM data controls provide all the functionality, for example if we want to read a option list for custom metadata or need custom metadata in return table?
    Can we add other methods to UCM data control provided by Oracle or should we create different one?
    Is there good documentation for such requirements. We have acces Webcenter developers guide which throws some light on UCM data controls.
    Let me know if more clarity is needed...

    Hi.
    One of my last components was a custom "Document Explorer" and I used for first time JCR Data Control (Custom UCM Data Control provided by Oracle).
    Sharing my experience I did something similar to you:
    1) Create a ADF Bounded Task Flow and test it individually.
    2) Add generated ADF JAR Library to WebCenter Spaces shared-lib.
    3) Add your Task Flow to Resource Catalog.
    Challenges that I found using custom Data Control:
    1) When items retrieved are content/files all custom metadata can be retrieved OOTB.
    2) When retrieving folders don't provide custom metadata like files. I used RIDC with JCR Data Control to provide all the information relative to folders. If you don't need more information about folders than the name, URI and icons then is OK :).
    3) Using JCR Data Control registers in DataControls.dcx UCM Connection name used when generate JCR Data Control. After deploy your ADF JAR Library in WebCenter Spaces you'll have problems if you don't have a WebCenter Content Connection created with the same name. (Not talking about export UCM Connection with ADF JAR Library, Data Control uses a Connection name by itself :)).
    I added extra functionallity with RIDC (not extending JCR Data Control).
    I hope this help you.
    Regards.

  • How to used a JCR Data Control in Java class?

    Hi,
    I created a JCR Data Control to my UCM to obtain a treeTable with the datas. But it's impossible to create a treeTable like i want to.
    So I know how to create a treeModel to obtain the treeTable I want.
    Is there a way to used the getItems method of the dataControl in a Java Class?
    I tried this :
    BindingContext bc = (BindingContext)JSFUtils.resolveExpression("#{data}");
    DCDataControl dc = bc.findDataControl("UcmDC");
    But dc is null.
    There are some xml files (UcmDC.xml or getItems_return.xml). Is it a way to resolve my problem. And if so, how do I use?

  • Manipule a lista in data control

    Hi everyone,
    I have a data control from a oracle component and I don't have access to this code, so I used it in my page, the data control returns a collection of items, so I can use adf tree and other thinks like that.
    The data control is a data control from a UCM component and I'm using getItems method.
    So, as I say before I don't have access to the code of data control but I need manipulate the return with java operations, I need sort this list.
    I was thinking about call this method in my java method and create my custom data control, but I don't know how "call" the data control method in my custom method.
    I would like to know if it's possible cat the result of this oracle data control in a java method and so I can manipulate this.
    Thks in advance,

    Is it possible to which type of Object, the list returned by the datacontrol contains?
    If yes, you could create a custom comparator,
    (The below sample NavigationTreeNode is the type of each item in the list)
    import java.util.Comparator;
    public class NavigationTreeNodeComparator implements Comparator<NavigationTreeNode> {
    public NavigationTreeNodeComparator() {
    super();
    @Override
    public int compare(NavigationTreeNode navigationTreeNode1,
    NavigationTreeNode navigationTreeNode2) {
    int displaySequence1 = navigationTreeNode1.getDisplaySequence();
    int displaySequence2 = navigationTreeNode2.getDisplaySequence();
    if (displaySequence1 > displaySequence2) {
    return +1;
    } else if (displaySequence1 < displaySequence2) {
    return -1;
    } else {
    return 0;
    After getting the list from method, you can use the custom comparator to sort the list as follows:
    Here, the navigationTree contains the list of navigationTreeNodes
    NavigationTreeNodeComparator navigationTreeNodeComparator =
    new NavigationTreeNodeComparator();
    Collections.sort(navigationTree, navigationTreeNodeComparator);
    Thanks,

  • Include the Content Released status flag in default WC data control

    Hi,
    We have integrated custom webcenter portal application with UCM for documents integration. The integration was done using default data control.When we change the document which is getting displayed in the portal from UCM and check it into the system, wokflow gets triggered properly and the content status shows review status. But when we access the document in the portal, at that point of time new document is visible even though the content is still not released from the system.
    Can anyone of you let me know how to include the released status of the content in the default data control so that we can avoid this situation
    Regards,
    Boopathy

    First of all, I think this is more a question to WebCenter Portal, because it is how WebCenter Portal components are written.
    Another thing is, that this is probably 'works as designed' and there might be good reasons for that. Since PS3, WebCenter (Portal) exposes some of UCM's functionality, among them ability to approve items in a workflow. This is the reason why it makes a good sense that items are available. Of course, they should be available only to approvers; also unapproved items should not appear if an item is displayed via Content Presenter (compare to a document published on a website via WCM). If you found such a behaviour, please, report it to MetaLink as it might be a bug.

  • Web service data control with complex input parameter problem

    Hi!
    I'm making ADF web app, using JDev 11.1.1.2.0. I have to call a web service (using a data control), which has complex input parameter (array of complex objects).
    I followed steps from Susan Duncan blog: http://susanduncan.blogspot.com/2006/09/dealing-with-complex-input-params-in.html , but I ran into a problem.
    As Susan wrote, I changed submit's button action binding to an operation in a managed bean, which returns array of objects and everything works fine. I can call a WS and my table shows the result.
    The problem is, that after I change button's action binding to my manage bean, row selection in result table doesn't work anymore (I allways get NullPointerException).
    What can be done here?
    Can somebody please help?

    Hi,
    I also have similar type of problem where I need to invoke a Web service with Complex input parameters.
    I followed Susan's blog but I stuck at a point where methos getItem is created.
    Can anyone tell me how to get that method for my requirement.
    If possible can you guys share your solutions here.
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to create content based portlet in 10g using JCR Data Control.

    I have created a webecenter Application (portlet,content repository,jsf ) in jdeveloper 10.1.3.4.
    and created a DatacontrolRepository connection for conent server , so inside the data control pallette I get all the methods such as search, AdvancedSearch,getItems.
    Now I am trying to drop the getItems() method return value from JCR data control as a Table inside my JSR 168 standard portlet which i created.
    But I am not able to see any of the content in my portlet.
    If I drag the same method getItems() on to my jspx page ( inside my ViewController) its working as expected.
    Please guide me how can get the content on portlet.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply..but i already have this demo and it doesn't contain an example for a pie graph..if u know where i can find any example for a pie graph and how to pass data to it i would be so thankful
    Thanks again.

  • Support for JSON type data in ADF URL data control

    Hi,
    We are trying to migrate from a bindows based UI to ADF.
    Our current architecture relies heavily on JSON type data for communication between products.
    Is there a way an URL Data control can handle JSON type data?
    Any help in this regard would be of great help.
    Cheers,
    Raj

    Hi all,
    Is there any news on this issue? I would also like to be able to call a REST web service (non-SOAP) and use the JSON formatted response in ADF. (The use case here is to call UCM services from WebCenter without the SOAP overhead).

  • Clear all rows in a Bean Data Control

    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6
    In my use case I have a screen that interacts with a Bean Data Control I have followed the steps in the following URL to create a Bean Data Control
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18941_01/tutorials/jdtut_11r2_36/jdtut_11r2_36.html
    My screen successfully interacts with the Bean Data Control. This screen lives in a Bounded Task Flow (BTF). I can add rows using a Create Insert binding and can delete Rows as well. Once the user gets all rows into the Bean Data Control that they want inserted to a DB table, I can iterate through the Bean Data Control and post those records to the DB. It is possible for the users to add rows to the Bean Data Control and then link to a brand new screen which is in a different BTF which leaves rows in the Bean Data Control. Now the user goes back to the original screen. Upon returning, I want to empty (clear all rows) for the Bean Data Control so that they have a fresh start. Could you please provide guidance on what I might need to do to be able to clear a Bean Data Control when entering a BTF

    Hi,
    You can create a method to clear your Bean Data Control and call it with an invokeAction with property refresh="ifNeeded" and refreshCondition="#{pageFlowScope.isTimeToClearAll}", so pageFlowScope.isTimeToClearAll must be true only when you need to clear the BDC.

  • Not able to drag new data control to my jsf

    hi am not able to drag Queriable Attributes into the new query.jsf page and abl to Create it as a Query > ADF Query Panel.
    this is what i have done
    1.In the Application Navigator locate the adfc-config file under the Page Flows node in the ViewController project. Double-click it to open it in the editor. This is where you are going to define the application's navigation.
    2.Drag the DeptEmpPage.jsf file from the Application Navigator into the empty adfc-config diagram.
    3.From the Component Palette drag and drop a View component into the adf-config diagram, and rename it query. This represents the new JSF page that you are about to create.
    4.From the Component Palette select Control Flow Case and then click on the DeptEmpPage and drag a line to the query page.
    Name this line goQuery.
    5.From the Component Palette choose another Control Flow Case and then create an opposite flow from the query page to the DeptEmpPage. Name this flow back.
    6.Double-click the query view in the diagram to create the new page. In the Create JSF Page dialog accept the default Facelets radio button, and with the Quick Start Layout radio button selected, click Browse.
    7.In the Component Gallery, retain the default One Column category, type and layout, but check the Apply Themes checkbox in the Options pane.
    Click OK and OK again to create the page.
    8.To add the employees search functionality to the page, open the Data Controls accordion, and locate EmpDetails1. (If you do not see it click the Refresh button).
    am not able to Select All Queriable Attributes and drag it into the new query.jsf page. Create it as a Query > ADF Query Panel.

    Many thanks for your reply, kindly find attached screenshots for the two installation of Jdeveloper 11g I have (release 1 & 2), it shows clearly that the “Data Control” is available for release 1, but not available for release 2, even we are talking about the same application!

  • Not able to Control the Data Control

    Hi, I have a bar chart which is bound to datacontrol through one iterator and one access iterator, and is placed on one splitter. Now on moving splitter and resizing the chart datacontrol re-fetches the data from the server. Why ? Cant it just re-size the chart without any connection with server. Also, i tried putting refreshCondition, and as it get calls two times everytime (one for JSF and another for ADF) and set refreshCondtion to false after second call. In that case i got no data. Also i tried refresh Ifneeded in both interators/accessIterator, still No Data. Is there any way i just execute data control only one time and henceforth can avoid its execution ?

    Hi Shay,
    PageDef Entries :
    <accessorIterator MasterBinding="Query1Iterator" Binds="Query" RangeSize="-1" DataControl="Query1" BeanClass="testing.test.datacontrol.definition.Query1.Query" id="QueryIterator" *RefreshCondition="#{pageFlowScope.myEditor.refreshNeeded}"* xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/uimodel"/>
    <iterator Binds="root" DataControl="Query1" id="Query1Iterator" RangeSize="-1" xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/uimodel"/>
    <graph IterBinding="Query1Iterator" id="Query6" xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/dvt" type="BAR_VERT_CLUST" ChangeEventPolicy="none">
    This was the RefreshCondition i was talking about, but after putting this i am not getting any data. And removing this condition will invoke the datacontrol each time i move the splitter. I want to be it like when i order to refresh then only it should execute.
    Everytime execution till the server unnecessary makes my application very slow, and i want to be as faster than we see charts in other technologies.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks-
    Mangal

  • Refresh the object associated with a Row in a Data Control?

    I am using EclipseLink & have an issue with multiple updates of the same Row. During an update, a new instance of the entity is returned by the update method. The instance bound to the Row is not updated with this new version and subsequent updates fail with an optimistic locking exception since the entityVersion hasn't been updated.
    Question: Is it possible to refresh the instance associated with a data control Row? I can remove rows, create rows, but it is not apparent to me how to update a row. I am trying to avoid doing a full retrieve on the bound iterator.

    Hi!
    The issue here is, by my opinion, a gap between ADFm and EJB 3.0 in use-cases with large data sets. If you search this forum, you may find related thread by Pedja about problem of feasible "scrollable" af:table with large number of entities in EJB finder result list. Unfortunately, the ADFm "paged" fetching is in mismatch with EJB support for "paged" (or scrollable) results lists. The all results of EJB finder method are retrieved from data source, stored in memory (thus breaking the heap) and transferred to ADF datacontrol. Then, and only then, ADFm paged fetching and caching mechanisms are employed – but they are just cosmetics as the main data set is permanently stored in memory as List<?>. The workaround is, as Pedja discovered, to write completely proprietary TableCollectionModel which completely evades ADFm and is implemented by set of EJB Session methods for paged acces to datasource through TopLink and native database queries (enabling retrieval of particular range of rows instead a complete result set). Of course, this is very complex coding experience and I find it a not acceptable for efficient development of modern applications on ADF + EJB stack, especially as it brakes a technology independence promoted by EJB and EclipseLink and other standards-based technologies (as you have to use database-specific native query implementation for paged /scrollable access!).
    What I want to say is that I have feeling that ADF support for EJB is not complete in full extend and that ADFm is still much better suited for BCs then for EJBs. I hope that this will be solved in future as this issue may pose a significant issue on application development in enterprise-level area where it is supposed that we are dealing with BROWSING also a large data sets.
    Yes, I emphasize a BROWSING as I strongly oppose a dogmatic approach that SEARCHING is a solution for every use-case. From theory of information, the system SHOULD NOT limit the user in accessing ALL information (based on access rights, of course). So the idea that SEARCH forms should be used to bridge a architectural gap between a ADFm and EJB is not acceptable, as the search MAY limit the user in acquiring the information he (or she) is not able to describe in adequate manner based on search criteria offered by the developer. So, the developer may be responsible for misinformation of user, by limiting his access to information, jus for technology limitations of ADFm which forces a development of purely SEARCH-based functionalities.
    I hope that development team would appreciate and consider this remarks, and invest effort in closing (not bridging!) the gap between ADFm and EJB.
    Regards,
    PaKo

  • Bind an inputFile value to a data control methods parameter

    Hello I am trying to create a InputFile (ADF Faces) which is linked to a data control method. The method reads a specified file and returns the content which is then displayed in table form.
    <br><br>
    I have a filereader Class with the following method:
    <i>public List<FileInQuestion> returnFileContents(String fileName)</i>
    <br><br>
    I have created a data control based on this Class. From the JSF page, under the data control palette I can drag on may parameter 'FileName' (as input text) and my method (as command button) and finally the return type 'FileInQuestion' (as read only table). This all works fine and when I type a filename in and hit the button it displays the contents in a table.
    <br><br>
    Now the problem is that I want to base the input parameter on the value of the InputFile component. But when I drag and drop the 'fileName' parameter onto the canvas, it doesn't give me the option to create as an input file!
    <br><br>
    Please could someone tell me how I manually link (bind) the inputFile component to the 'fileName' parameter?
    <br><br>
    Sorry if a bit long winded!!
    <br><br>
    Thanks Dan

    Thanks Frank but I need to get at the text value returned from the inputfile component. I did what you said with the following results:
    <br><br>
    I started with a inputtext field, command button and read only table. When I entered a value (in this case 'C:\data\contacts.txt' ) into the inputtext field and hit the command button the table displayed the expected results (for logic please see my 1st post).
    <br><br>
    I then convert the inputtext component to a inputfile component in the way you suggested. I now rerun the application, browse to the same file and hit the command button, and then nothing!! no results.
    <br><br>
    I'm I missing something here?
    <br><br>
    Thanks
