UCM portal vs I/PM

Hi,
I understand that both UCM portal and I/PM are used to interact with Oracle Content Server. But both are having different user interface and provides different way to users for dealing with the content.
I am not sure or confused, if I need to provide UCM portal interface or I/PM interface to users. Providing both to users would be confusing to them.
Is there any differences or advantages of I/PM over UCM. Please help.
We would be having URM and EBS adapter for integrating the EBS with UCM and little bit of workflows. Keeping these in view, could anybody suggest me what to be given to users.

My article inside have a container that contain a HTML/JS web content.
Once I edit the html content and update the article, the container is empty.
I remove the article and upload again still get the same result, it is empty.

Hi.
To enable Site Studio features for Web Content inlne editing you have to:
- Enable Site Studio components in UCM.
- Install and configure OHS to access UCM and Portal with the same port.
- Enable authentication propagation when configure UCM-Portal.
- Add a cookie to weblogic.xml with the context path of the Portal application to prevent lost session between Portal and UCM.

BPEL Integration- Process configuration

I am trying to invoke a bpel process from UCM Portal. While configuring the connection, during process connection i couldn't able to find the list of bpel of process available which are deployed. But I could able to see those bpel process in SOA server. And the status for the BPEL Connection in connection configuration is valid. How to get list of bpel processes.

Interesting issue. Do check the below things
- SOA server is up and running at the time of configuration
- you are connecting to same SAO server and the port where you are looking deployed omcposites

Steps to recreate my error:
1. Copy and Edit... the "Dynamic List Generic" Fragment.
2. Properties
a. Name: IGBU Training Request
b. ID: IGBUTrainingRequest
c. Language: idoc
d. Type: dynamiclist
e. Library Name: SS_FRAGMENTS_EX...
3. I only changed the Default Value of my ssQueryText Parameter (this is my first Fragment that I'm creating). I am going to have another Form Fragment where consultants can request training classes by filling out some fields, but first I need to make sure my second Fragment will show that content. The Default Value for my ssQueryText Parameter is: (dDocTitle <contains> `Training Request`) <AND> (xWebsites <contains> `igbu`) <AND> (xWebsiteSection <contains> `igbu:6749`). When I run that query in CS, I see 2 records.
4. I hit the "Save" button, and "New..." to create a new Fragment Library.
5. When the "Assign Info Form" appears, I fill out the following:
a. Type: SystemObject - any component of the Web site (fragments, .css, .jsp, etc.)
b. Title: IGBU Training Request List Fragment
c. Author: [email protected]
d. Security Group: Public
e. Account: EMPL/IGBU/CSLT
f. Web Sites: IGBU (igbu)
g. ConsumptionServer: MYO
6. I click the "Assign Info" button.
7. I receive the error above.
I have tried filling in a value for Content ID and leaving it blank when completing the form, thinking that I should let CS assign a CNT***** ID for me, but that did not help.

Hi mikeyc7m,
I'm trying to resolve this issue, but I can't tell what to correct...I'm at a complete loss. The Assign Info Form has required fields (red, with asterisks), and I'm filling in values for each of those. Do you have any idea where I can go to verify against a database config setting, or do you have any other ideas?

How to Run both UCM Server and Webcenter Portal Services on single Weblogic

First i have installed Oracle UCM and configure it on Weblogic Server successfully. But after the installation of Webcenter Portal on same machine and Weblogic Server. UCM Server is not running it shows Forcefully shutting down error. Kindly help me i want to run both UCM and Webcenter Portal Servers on one Weblogic server.

Make sure that you dont have same port numbers on both servers.
If it then try to avoid them.
Secondly also check nodemanager log server log to verify why it went to shutdown mode.

We are using weblogic portal 10.3.1 framework and UCM 10gR3. Now we want to use Jdeveloper (because we can integrate site studio using plugin) instead of weblogic workshop.
So my question is does the existing code works in Jdeveloper (because it supports Webcenter portal)?.

No. Eclipse/Worskhop is the development IDE for WLP. While you can probably edit many of the WLP artifacts in JDeveloper, since they're mostly XML files, JDeveloper won't understand the WLP project structure, understand many of the libraries or know how to deploy to a WLP domain.

Ucm connection configuration on webcenter portal app

Hi All,
We create a webcenter portal application and connect with Webcenter content using Application Resources --> connections --> content repository connection.
The parameters that we provided for the connection are:
Socket type: socket, Hostname, Port, Admin username and Password. We havent given the Webserver context root and Url of the webserver plugin.
In enterprise manager console while we check the webcenter connection configuration, the Web server context root /cs is automatically availble eventhough we havent provide them while creating our connection(checked on connections.xml also), because of which while using content presenter contributor mode, the UCM environment is opened inline.
We want our UCM enviroment to get opened in a new window as normal one and not on inline and may i know why the webserver context root is automatically available eventhough we didnt provide it explicitly

Faces messages are displayed in a pop-up by ADF. This is the default behaviour.
If you want to display Faces Messages inline, then include the af:messages tag in an appropriate place with the inline attribute set to true. Add this to your home page.

Does any one has idea working with oracle UCM with Weblogic portals. Can anyone suggest any tutorial in online.

Provided you are using the Oracle UCM Content Adapter for WLP (UCM SPI), using content sourced from UCM in WLP applications is not different from using content from other Repositories.

UCM Access with Peoplesoft Portal and CIS?

Hi,
Can someone point me to any links about integrating PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal with the Oracle UCM? Has anyone had results using PeopleCode Java Objects to communicate with the UCM via CIS? With other portlet-compliant environments gaining access to UCM server commands via the UCPM API is well-documented.
I am developing with PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal 9 as part of my thesis for a MIS degree from University of Nevada. My focus is IT consulting and Business Intelligence. Any information would be of great help.

I have done this using a variety of technologies, but mainly using the UCM search web service and Integration Broker. I am not aware of any documentation specific to PeopleSoft and UCM, but there is documentation for UCM web services and PeopleSoft web services.
I have also used Java and some WebDAV Java classes I wrote myself (I extended commons-httpclient), but web services is the easiest.
Using UCM's folders and attributes, it is relatively easy to loosely integrate PeopleSoft with UCM. By loosely, I mean using search URL's and folder views to display UCM content. For tighter integration, I recommend web services.

Render and Edit image from Oracle UCM into a Webcenter Portal application

I am trying to render an image uploaded in Oracle UCM as well as give some editing features like crop, zoom, annotate, redact (an can save it as well) into my webcenter portal application. I tried Content presenter, Document viewer options but nothing is giving me the editing features as per my requirements.
Can anyone help me on this. Providing some link also will serve my purpose.

you have to create custom taskflow, there is no OOTB taskflow to do that.

How to read xml file present in the UCMS from webcenter portal application

I'm new to webcenter portal and would like to know how to read an xml file which is present in UCMS 11g(contributors folder) from webcenter portal application.

I guess I had mentioned that I want to read it via my webcenter portal app rather than login to ucms and searching it via url.
I want text labels and button names being stored in the xml file which I'm going to keep in the UCMS.
After reading that from the xml will be placed at appropriate locations like the button values and label feilds, so that we dont need to deploy entire app for this kind of simple changes.
Now can anyone provide some help with the api's related to this?

Since only folders_g can be used for integrating with Webcenter Spaces/Portal we are not sure of what our strategy should be. Is there plan to use framework folders with Webenter in the future?Certainly there are. Unfortunately, no exact date/release has been communicated so far. If you need a quick implementation (following few next months) I'm afraid you will have to go with folder_g

Webcenter Portal and UCM - Content Presenter Error

Hello,
I get an error while I'm adding a Content Presenter over the default resource catalog of my webcenter portal application and try to create content.
When pressing the create content button a new browserpage opens and after beeing logged in to the Content Server the cs/resources/wcm/custom/sitestudio/contentwizard/webcenter/contentwizard.hcsp is called and this error message appears as an alert:
"*this placeholder is restricted, but no region definitions have been specified*"

Looks like the configuration of UCM (SSXA) is not completed in your system. Take a look at this manual http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e13650/toc.htm to understand the relationship between region definitions and placeholders. Note that Content Presenter is just a client here (it's a matter of WebCenter Content configuration).

Error when trying to run UCM from browser -The portal page for your Content

When I try and run the UCM in a browser using "http://localhost/idc", it showing
"The portal page for your Content Server needs to be rebuilt. Start the WebLayout Editor as a standalone application and select Update Portal... from the Options menu."
I did see a previous message that says to go to Weblayout Editor Applet - Options - Build Home Page - Update -Ok, but I was not able to see the Build Home Page option in the drop down.
Any ideas what may be causing this issue?

I have installed this product on two environments following the same kind format.
In our dev environment I am able to type in the following to get to the Welcome to Content Server Page
http://devenv/idc/
In the other environment I use the following and I get that the error "The portal page for your Content Server needs to be rebuilt. Start the WebLayout Editor as a standalone application and select Update Portal... from the Options menu."

So the only way to get to the Content Server Page is to type the full path as below which I don't want to do, because I want the welcome screen to appear first.

Is there a way I can configure the application to get to my welcome screen instead of getting the error message detailed above?

Weblogic Portal + Oracle UCM

Is there any way to connect Oracle UCM content repository to Weblogic Portal 9.2 or 10.2? Is it through Virtual Content Repository? If so, how to add a new repository to the virtual content repository. It is asking for the SPI class, username and password. It will be great if anyone elaborate on this.
Let me tell you the scenario I am working on. I am implementing federated search (first source is HTTPFetch, second source is FileSystemFetch and the last source is Oracle content server). I have tried and tested the first 2 sources. They are working perfect. I am stuck with the third source. I do not know how to use Oracle content server as a connector to IDOL server. Is there any way for this? Also, I would like to know the purpose of BEACMRepoFetch.

I have no hands-on experience with it, though so maybe someone can share some practical experiences.
There are quite a few ways to hook UCM and WLP together. JSR-170 is the standard way, I believe the above adapter is based on that. Additionally, you could have a [Service Provider Interface implementation|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13155_01/wlp/docs103/cmspi/index.html] that plugs UCM to WLP's Virtual Content Repository interface through UCM api.
Yet another option is to use UCM API directly from portal app. This way you're obviously losing all the nice content related features in WLP such as content selectors, campaigns, content queries, tags, etc.
