UCS support for ISO install LMS 4.1
Hi,
can we install the ISO LMS 4.1 directly on a UCS platform?
What platform UCS is supported?
Do you have install experiences you can share?
Is the ISO LMS 4.1 a Linux implementation?

I installed it onto of Windows 2006 R2 on a UCS C200 M2.
You can turn anything into an iso, it just a format of how things are writen on a disk. That's why you can mount and iso file as a disk.
The linux version comes as an ".ova " virtual appliance you can load into a VMware host.
I think the machine could probably run an ESX server and run 2 or 3 LMS servers depending on the number of devices to manage.
For performance reasons buying a bigger box won't help. I've installed LMS on pretty heavy systems and GUI performance remains bad.
I think the problem is with the tomcat part of things. That process is responsable for the web gui. AFAIK Cisco provides no guidance on this.
Cisco says performance will be better in the next version as usual.

OWB support for ISO Week number?
Is there any way to get the Time dimension wizard to support the ISO standard for Year and Week numbering (formats IYYYY and IW)?
I need to set up a time dimension for our data warehouse and our company uses the ISO Year/Week numbering schemes (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_8601) if you don't know what these are.
Failing that I can try to create my own but it looks like a tedious process calculating all of the durations, start and end-dates.

the problem is that Calendar's idea of what the first week in the year is differs from the ISO standard
the problem is that the ISO standard defines the first week of the year as that containing the first Thursday (ie some days may become part of the previous year's weeks)
and Calendar defines it as the docs state - so to change the value returned would mean you having to change the "FirstDayOfWeek" or the "MinimalDaysInFirstWeek" - which (without checking recently) I think the ISO standard also defines so you can't safely change these
I might raise a RFE against Calendar about this in a week or two since it seems quite important?

If yes, then how do i change the default character set in Labview from ASCII to ISO 8859-5?
If no, then which is the simplest way to display russian characters in Labview 6.1 (Labview 6.1 on SuSE LINUX)

There is a very easy way to do that in Windows. Start>Settings>Regional and Language Options. Make sure Russian is included as an input language language on the language tab, as well as on the advanced tab where you can specify the language for non-unicode programs.
I have attached a screenshot that demonstrates cyrillic fonts in LabVIEW. The example is done with Bulgarian font, but it should work the same way with Russian. As you can see I have also specified Arial CYR as my font for the front panel and the block diagram.
Try to use the same logic for a Linux system.

ISO-2022-JP support and ISO-2022-JP-2 escape sequences
I have a mail generated by Outook with some Japanese text in. Outlook has set the charset as ISO-2022-JP. The ISO-2022-JP encoded text of the mail can be found here.
Java 1.5 and 1.6 fail to load this text properly when using the ISO-2022-JP charset. The description of this charset is JIS X 0201, 0208, in ISO 2022 form, Japanese. I'm guessing that the problem is due to the use of an escape sequence that is defined in [ISO-2022-JP-2|http://www.mhonarc.jp/RFC/rfc1554.txt]. The escape sequence is hex 1B 24 42, which means that the charset is JIS X 0208-1983.
There's no ISO-2022-JP-2 charset support in Java 1.5, not sure about 1.6.
I'm thinking about writing a filter reader as a hack to add support for ISO-2022-JP-2. I guess that if I remove the escape sequence, the text should load properly using one of Shift-JIS, EUC-JP or ISO 2022 JP. Any suggestions?

There are some ISO-2022-JP "variants" that are supported under different encoding names with compatibility workarounds. Please refer to Sun's bug ID 6173388 for details. -
Can CUCM 8.5 version be installed on a DL 380 G5 server in Virtual environment (Vmware Esxi 4.0 or 4.1)? Or does it have to be only installed in UCS boxes for VMware?
1. If the installation is possible for the Vmware instance on a DL 380 G5/G6 server , will that be supported by Cisco ?
Similary is the case with CUIC 8.5. Has anybody worked on these do suggest ideas.Virtualized UC applications from Cisco are only supported on the UC on UCS platform using ESXi 4.0, 4.0 Update 1, or 4.1 - hypervisor support may vary based on application.

Cisco advise UCS 1.4 supports PVLAN. But i see the following comment about PVLAN in UCS 1.4
"UCS extends PVLAN support for non virtualised deployments (without vSwitch ) . "
"UCS release 1.4(1) provides support for isolated PVLAN support for physical server access ports or for Palo CNA vNIC ports."
Does this means PVLAN won't work for virtual machine if VMs is connected to UCS by Nexus1000v or vDS although i am using PALO (M81KR) card?
Could anybody can confirm that?

This works fine to and from VMs on the same ESX host (PVLAN port-profiles work as expected)...If I move a VM over to another host, nothing works...pretty sure not even if in same promiscuous port-profile. How does the 6120 handle this traffic? What do they get tagged with when they leave the 1000v? -
Cisco Prime LMS 4.1 - Support for Cisco Catalyst 3560-C Series Switches

I have a customer which uses the following switch. Last year I have installed LMS 4.1 for him to manage the switches. Unfortunatly the switch model is not supported. According to the information found on the following site the switch is supported for most of the modules in LMS:

The oid object of the device is the following: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1465
Supported Software: 12.2(55)EX (Customer has 12.2(55)EX3
Version Support Type: Device Update
So I updated all device updates I was able to find.
Step 1: For that I went to Admin > System > Software Center > Schedule Device Downloads and created a job where I have downloaded the latest versions of all packages.
Step 2: Installed the downloaded packages Admin > System > Software Center > Device Update and installed all the packages.
Unfortunatly I don't see the same result like described in the Supported Device Table for LMS 4.1.
- Cisco View -> works
- Inventory and Config Collection -> works
- Fault Monitor not working -> Error Code Unsupported
- Network Topology Layer 2 Services -> Device Type ciscoProducts.1465, Symbol Question Mark
- VLAN Management -> Doesn't work
- User Tracking > seems also not to work
When I open the report for supported devcies (Reports > System > Device Support) and search for C3560C... I find the following devices, but not mine which i need:

I've asked him to verify his answer for me.
Is your answer based on real world expereince (the best there is)? That is, are you running Prime LMS 4.1 and does it indeed use up a license for each light-weight AP it discovers & manages?
Thanks for mentioning options 1-3 but I do not wish to employ any of them. I don't mind buying the additional licenses for APs ... I just need to know if I have to or not.

I am trying to install iTunes on my PC (using Windows 8.1), but I get this error: "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." The iTunes file (64-bit) I am trying to install, is named "iTunes64Setup.exe". What seems to be the problem? Help!

I am trying to install itunes 10.5, but during the download I get the following message, "There is a problem with this Window Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personanal or package vendor." If this is my personal computer and was able to upgrade to the previous version (pre 10.5), why not now? What is my "package vendor"? And what is it I need to do to fix this? The message is unclear. Unfortunately, I deleted my itunes program, thinking that in doing so, 10.5 would finally load. Now I have no itunes on my computer and unable to sync my iphone. Help!

by "repair" I mean I went to the control panel, option - programs and features, and in the list of all my installed programs I selected "Apple Software Update". On top of the screen you find the options Uinstall, Change and Repair. I clicked the repair button and that did the trick. After the repair I could uninstall the program. I also uninstalled iTunes, Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support en Bonjour, thus all Apple programs. Then I installed iTunes 10.5 again and everything went fine.

I just try to install the setup download from apple website for iTune and iCloud.
During the installation, there was error message prompt out "There is a problem with this Windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
I am using Window 7 32 bit. I have try several time for install, but the result is getting same error message.
Anyone can help on this??????

JustinI have also tried extracting the individual components to the temp file and attempting to install them individually despite being unable to remove the previous install of Apple Software Updater. The outcome, both Apple Software Updater and itunes encountered the same error message during the install process.

I'm trying to install iTunes 10.3 on my PC (windows vista) and I keep getting this message, "There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. I accidentally removed the Bonjour service from my system a few weeks ago, but my iTunes continued to work. Now I have no iTunes and I don't know how to fix it. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!

also saw 1 marked as correct answer... (just browse the discussion pages before you ask, this answer appearantly was sitting there from oct. 14...)

Trying to install iTunes 10.7, first attempt; downloaded and ran with everything closed, seccond atttempt; just click on run, third attempt; ran upgrade with iTunes open. All of the results were the same.
