UDA for automic installations of packages during OSD?

Hi,
I posted a question some time ago on howto deploy mandatory/assigned packages(applications) in an OSD (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/1483f68b-c24b-49ea-9f56-3cb19b573bf2/osd-trigger-mandatory-installations-in-ts?forum=configmanagerosd).
The option UDA was suggested:  http://blogs.technet.com/b/inside_osd/archive/2011/06/20/configuration-manager-2012-user-device-affinity-and-os-deployment.aspx
and
http://blogs.technet.com/b/inside_osd/archive/2011/06/20/configuration-manager-2012-user-device-affinity-and-os-deployment.aspx
However, or  I don’t get the concept or it isn’t really what I’m looking for. So before I dive into it, I’d like to know if this is really what I’m looking for:
*install mandatory and/or assigned packages as a last step in a task sequence *pakcages are assigned to collection with
computers NOT users and this cannot be changed (UDA = user device affinity whereas we don’t have any user-pc relation in our sccm server) or can a generic user be used? *it should be available with PXE as well as bootable media/prestaged media
Please advise.

As was stated in the previous thread, it is not possible to force mandatory computer-based deployments during a Task Sequence because the client is not functional with respect to evaluating and enforcing application deployment policies while a Task Sequence
is running.
If you have MDT integrated, you have some additional options as far as forcing additional applications to install without having to explicitly calling them out in the Task Sequence, but you still have to define the list(s) of applications and/or select them
in a wizard interface such as the UDI wizard.
But as far as forcing the computer to install applications deployed to a collection it is a member of, this cannot be done during the Task Sequence. If the deployments are set to Required, the computer will install them after the Task Sequence once the client
has had an opportunity to register with the site and evaluate available policies, but this is not an immediate action.

  • Applications installs 'clashing' during OSD

I have discovered that my Office 2010 installation, via an 'Applications' package fails if I also deploy .Net Framework 4.5 via a 'Package' package during an OSD TS using MDT.
What would be the best logs to look at, and in which order to discover what's causing the failure?

    Hi,
I would start with the SMSTS.log, how do your TS look like? I would install .NET Framework 4.5 before office and then reboot the computer before the office installation as well. Or you have already tried that?

  • UDA set wrong during OSD

Hi, I have MDT 2013 + SCCM 2012 R2 Environment. I am using a UDI task sequence. I provide option to set computer using UDI wizard and set user device affinity. All work well, untill, someone changes the name of Computer using UDI wizard. In case the
computername is changed, the new computer object in CM does not have user affinity set. Instead, I see that the old object (before rename using UDI during OSD) in CM console get the UDA set(OSD defined).  I did try deleting the old name from CM console
after starting TS, but this also did not help set the UDA to new object in CM. How do I get around this problem. We want to have a functionality of setting OSD defined UDA even for computers where the user might change the name using UDI wizard.

    Anyone??

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

  • SCCM 2012 OSD; Not finding driver package during deployment

I've been having some trouble setting up my OSD deployment using SCCM 2012 and hope someone can point me in the right direction.  Specifically I am having trouble with device driver deployment while deploying my reference image.
I am running SCCM Config Manager 2012 SP1 CU2. This is running on a Server 2012 VM with SQL 2012.  I am building an OSD deployment and have successfully captured my reference image.  I am not sure if it matters, but I manually built a reference
PC and using capture media (USB stick), I successfully captured my reference image.  I have imported my drivers for the target PC into Config Manager and into a driver package.  The driver package has been deployed to the distribution point
(DP).  I checked the status of the driver package within the console and verified it has been deployed to the DP.   I created a new task sequence (TS) to deploy the captured wim.  Within the TS, I added an "Apply
Driver Package" step and pointed it to the aforementioned driver package.  I added a WMI query to the step as follows
select * from Win32_ComputerSystem where Model like "HP Probook 6570b%."
Incidentally, I did a wmi query on the target PC to verify the model.  I deployed the TS to the unknown computers collection and PXE booted the target PC.  I ran through the OSD wizard and while OSD is verifying the deployment prerequisites,
the deployment fails with the error, "The task sequence cannot be run because a package referenced by the task sequence could not be found."  I checked the smsts.log log and found the following:
    Failed to find CCM_SoftwareDistribution object for AdvertID="CT120043", PackageID="CT100044", ProgramID="*"
After some research I found this error means Config Manager cannot find the driver package (PackageID="CT100044")
for deployment.  After more research I have done the following:
Deleted the Driver Package and recreated it and updated the TS step to point to this package.
Deleted and recreated the TS along with the driver package.
Recreated the driver package and distributed content, only importing the NIC drivers as a way to make a simple test.
When distributing content I verified it was successfully completed each time as per the console.
Each time I recreated the driver package and the OSD failed, smsts.log is showing the appropriate package ID in the error.  If I disable the Apply Driver Package step and configure a Apply Device Drivers step to install the best matched compatible drivers
and limit the driver matching to the specific driver package, the OSD completes but the drivers do not install. It is as if Config Manager is not seeing the imported drivers at all.
I have run out of options to try and hope someone can help point me in the next direction to take.  After reading numerous forums and guides, I am sure I am doing the OSD steps correctly but I am apparently missing something.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike G.

    Thanks for responding.
Yes after I posted the question I right-clicked on the driver package, and selected to update distribution points.  I checked now (about 12 hours later) and the package is showing it has not finished updating.  I checked the content status and
it is "waiting for content."  I looked at distmgr.log and I found an error "Failed to start DP health monitoring task for package 'CT100044'. Error code: -1".  This error would occur every 30 min after each time the DP retried to process
the package. After some research I found a post stating a file called "Microsoft" or "Program" on located on the root of the site server could cause this and renaming or deleting the file would resolve this. I renamed the file and after the next time
it retried, the error cleared, however the package status is still waiting for content.  I tried doing a validation on the package but so far there has been no change.

  • Migrate certificate for native installer packaged application

    Hi,
I need to migrate certificate (to new certificate) for my air app, which is a native installer packaged application. The certification migration steps in the docs mention migrating/ signing the .air app with old and new certificate.
But it doesn't mention anything about the natively packaged air app (the .exe)
How to migrate / sign certificates for native installer ?
    Thanks,
    Brijesh

    AIR run time :2.0.3.13070
Yes,I am using the old certificate for migration. However I noticed I was getting following error while migrating.
    a) first I got the "Could not create time stamp: timestamp.geotrust.com"  exception.  I am completely unsure why this error. I didn't use timestamp while generating the old version of the app using the old certificate few days back (before old certificate expired).
    b) then I tried to migrate using   -tsa none  option so that it could migrate to new air.
If this is causing the problem,  I need to figure out why I get the timestamp error mentioned in (a)
    Thanks,
    Brijesh

    Dear all OTN Members,
I wonder if there is/are any Installation Deployment Package for Oracle just like Deployment Package I ever saw in Visual Basic ?

    Dear Andrew,
Thx for your suggestion, but actually I had try Project Builder for building the deployment package and I only can install from from Oracle Installer, also I can't create custom shortcut nor icons on desktop (not mention the registry settings yet). For information, me and my customer are using Win2k, so I try to find an executable deployment package. Any further suggestion ?

  • Design for development of solaris package (installer)

    Hi,
I am new to solaris. As I am assigned to a new task to develop a installer for an application on solaris10 machine, I need to prepare the design document for the installer. ( I came to know that in solaris all the instllables will be considered as packcages and and are not like .exe's).
So if any one who has previous experience of developing such packages , I Kindly request them to advice me with some tips.( I have refered to Application Packaging Developer's Guide from Sun microsystems which is excellent, now I got an idea how to develop, the question is about preparing design document. )
If possible can you please give the Table of contents of the design document.
If possible please recommend any books as well.
    Thanks in advance..

    in similar scenarios this is what we have done;
    1. Request the sending application to limit the number of messages per call. Hence each call will have a lesser number of data and your response time will be met
    2. what is the relevance of the response to the sender? Is it a mock ack to say that the receiver system has received the data or do you need data back from the receiver system to be send to the sender? If it is only a ack and the data in the response is not relevant then use a Syn to async scenario. That is create the response from PI itself and send it to the sender while you can do an async call to your ABAP proxy to push data to R3
