Hi,
Does anyone know what the staus is of the above ?
Also what else would I need to achieve Blu-Ray movie playback from my Blu-Ray drive ?

Beside a UDF 2.5 driver, if the content is protected (pretty much everything), then you would need a player that understands ACCS (see:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Access_Content_System ) and for right now that means you are stuck.
It is extremely weird to this day that Sun is in the bluray consortium but doesn't provide bluray playback (even for a fee) for their own OS.
BTW, with UDF 2.5 support, HD DVD titles would also be accessible, but again with the ACCS limitation.
Once the content is on your hard drive, decrypted (assuming you can get to that point), all you need is mplayer. You'll need a good video card with a supported driver (usually that means nvidia) and a fast enough CPU (core 2 duo of sufficient clock rate), particularly on VC1 titles. On MPEG2 titles (uncommon now) you dont need as much horsepower.

Internal blu-ray for new mac mini?

I want to use the mac mini as a media server, DVD player, blu-ray, music ...
and use the mac mini as media centre because it is very ergonomic and beautiful.

I believe I've seen slot-loading Blu-Ray drives that would work, but there is at this time no software for Mac OS X to play Blu-Ray video disks. The only way to play a Blu-Ray movie would be to run Windows on the Mac mini and purchase software, available from one or two Windows developers, that will play Blu-Ray movies. So you may wish to rethink your strategy if you're looking for an all-in-one-box solution.

No, unfortunately I can't. I have the same error....I tryed it... I tryied even with no menus..just the video...always the same.
Now, I tryed with the competitor software, DVD Architect by Sony....same video (same files), guess what! It worked! So..do I need to switch to Vegas and DVD Architect to get my work done?
The upconverts I need to do, are for my workplace, not for home projects. So I reallly need to do upconversions! I have a lot to do!

Mounting UDF 2.50 2.60 Blu-Ray discs on Solaris 11

Is it actually impossible to mount UDF 2.50/2.60 file system discs on Solaris 11.1 x86. Such as blu-ray discs. Not that blu-ray movies, but BD-R discs with files burned on Windows.
There is no any SUNWudfr / SUNWudfrx / SUNWudf packages available in Package Manager.
Mounting like 'mount -F udfs ...' returns an error 'is not an udfs file system'. Seems that is wrong way.

system/file-system/udfs is installed on my system
As it is described in Package Manager:
ISO 13346 Universal Disk Format (UDF) 1.50 File System module and utilities
That means DVD support only. Blu-ray discs are all UDF 2.50 or UDF 2.60 by default.
Seems Solaris does not read them.

Blu Ray for DV7-6120tx

I have a HP DV7-6120tx which comes with a stock standard DVD Writer optical drive. I know some other models of the DV7 range come with Blu Ray writers. Is it possible to purchase one of these drives and have it fit mine?

The first replacement optical drive in the list on Page 53 of your Maintenance & Service Guide would seem to be a good choice, however I would always recommend confirming this with HP when ordering the part.

Does Apple support Blu Ray for video storage?

I have heard conflicting reports whether Blue Ray discs can be used for date storage of video. If so, how are Blue Ray discs formatted on iMacs?

We're talking apples and cigarettes here. I'm relying on information from the sales clerk.
He says I can use the Blu-ray discs as backup for data. I buy. Go home. Make burn-folder. Insert disc.... Reject. Disk-pop out. Go on forum. Realize I bin had...take back to Retail chain. Give refund.
But question I still asks is: smaller video companies need easy way to store HD quality video as data. Cheaply. And Blu-ray discs have that capability.

WinDVD Blu-Ray for Windows7

I installed Windows 7 Professional (FULL EDITION, not RTM) on my SL400. Previously I had made a system backup using the Lenovo Rescue discs. The installation is now working well but I cannot play Blu-Ray discs on my drive. I looked in Lenovo Q: drive SWTOOLS folder and do not see a way to reinstall WinDVD. I put my restore discs in and could not find it there either.
Where can I locate this program or will there be a new edition for Windows 7 from Lenovo?
I know this question has been asked before and I've searched the forums. I have not found a solution.

Which MBP do you actually have? An Early 2009 (aka unibody) or a pre-unibody model?
If you have a unibody, no, for 2 reasons. First, it's a 12.7 mm drive, and the 17" unibody needs a slimmer drive - 9.5 mm. Also, the unibody MBPs use a different connector for the optical drive than previous models; the drive you link works with computers as far back as the PowerBook, so it has the old-style connector.
I don't know of any 9.5 mm slot loading blu ray drives (there are 9.5 mm tray loaders, but those will not with in an MBP). You can get an external drive, though.
If you have an older 17" MBP, then yes, the drive you link will work.
Either way, you'd need 3rd party software (e.g. Toast) to read/write Blu Ray discs, and even then I'm not sure there's a player for OS X that will allow you to watch movies (if that's your intent). There are Windows players, which would likely work via Boot Camp.

Blu Ray for home cinema?

Has anyone been able to get Blu ray to work on their mac?
I use Plex on my intel mac as a data source for my home cinema set up which works really well after I have ripped my DVD's to hard drive. I notice that Plex can also play .MKV high def files very well.
I currently play blu ray discs through my kids PS3 which is in the other room but I really want to play them from the hard drive on my mac through Plex onto my big screen.
So my question is - is it possible to get an external blu ray disk reader to connect to my imac ? and if so which one ?
Also, what is good software - eg - handbrake/mac the ripper etc to convert the blu rays so I can store them on my hard drive?
I read somewhere about Macs not being able to handle bluray ? I also have linux ubuntu but no windows PC's !
Any ideas much appreciated ?
Please don't waste your time telling my to move my PS3 and other such solutions... and yes I do own the disks.......

I have a modest bit of experience as I RIP Blu-Ray, and produce Blu-Movies from FCP from my own source HD material.
for ripping commerical Blu-Rays, bite the bullet and use SlySofts, software. Yes it runs on WinXP; but it runs. You create an ISO image and can then txfer to your Mac and burn using, wait-for it, Toast Titanium (with BD plug-in).
As for Blu-Ray Burners, I recommend Plextor. They come with fireWire 400 and USB2, so you can use them cross-platform. OS X 1.05 will see it, and as I said above, Toast can burn to it.
Yes they cost twice as much as an LG or similar; but I very rarely get a duff disk. I burn about 20 disks/month, both video and data, and lose about 1-2 disks. Other BD Drives I've tried have almost 3 times that failure rate. It's still not what I would call a stable technology, much like DVD writing was 10 years ago.
If you want to rip and then play on a Mac, you will probably need to transcode to Quicktime. Not sure how to do this, but you've got me thinking....

Thought You should know the Panasonic UJ-225 is a 12mm IDE drive and therefore won't work in the latest Unibody MacBook Pro 17" series cause they are using SATA interfaced SuperDrives which are 9mm (same unit as found in the Unibody MBP15".

The UJ-225 will however work in the older Aluminium MacBook Pro 17".

Still no fix for Chapter Markers exporting in H.264 Blu-ray for Encore import Error

Why didn't this fix take place in the recent PPRO 2014.2 update?
I still get the error in Encore that I can import the movie file due to chapter markers.
Does this mean we cant any more use Encore for authoring DVDs or Blurays?
Really don't like the Delete the chapter reference file to do this.

The bug appears fixed to me.
First, I updated only AME to 2014.2. I exported directly from PR 2014.1, and, as expected, the xmpses file is malformed and import to Encore fails. Export using the queue (and therefore clearly AME), the export shows a corrected xmpses file, and import to Encore works.
Then I updated PR to 2014.2. Now, direct export from PR also works.
I did not test updating PR and not AME, and that might present a different result.
What are your versions of PR and AME?
Edit: couldn't resist. Rolled back AME to 2014.1 with PR still updated to 2014.2. Direct Export from PR works.

HP desktop computer can not play Blu-ray DVDs. Who is responsible for this?

In 2010, I blought an HP Pavilion Elite HPE 250-f desktop computer (running Windows 7). This computer was advertised as having a Blu-ray DVD player, as well as players for regular DVDs and CDs. All these years, I've been successfully playing regular DVDs and CDs. Until now, I have not attempted to play a Blu-ray DVD.
I recently rented the "Divergent" Blu-ray DVD (as well as the "Divergent" regular DVD) from my local library. When I tried to play the Blu-ray DVD, the HP MediaSmart software and the Windows Media Player detected the Blu-ray but were not able to play the Blu-ray.
I then downloaded the Media Player Codec Pack, http://download.cnet.com/Media-Player-Codec-Pack/3000-13632_4-10749065.html    This Codec Pack was supposed to help Windows Media Player play the Blu-ray. That did not work. When I got rid of the Codec Pack using System Restore, HP MediaSmart and Windows Media Player became unable to detect the Blu-ray in the Blu-ray drive. After another System Restore, HP MediaSmart and Windows Media Player were once again able to detect the Blu-ray (but were still unable to play the Blu-ray).
I then downloaded Cyberlink PowerDVD 14, which played the Blu-ray for only about 7 seconds before crashing. I then got rid of Cyberlink PowerDVD 14 with a System Restore.
I downloaded TotalMedia Theatre version 6.0.1.123. However, this software did not detect the Blu-ray. I then got rid of TotalMedia Theatre with a System Restore. After that, I was not able to play ANYTHING, including CDs and regular DVDs. CDs and regular DVDs were not being detected by playing software. After another System Restore, I was once again able to play CDs and regular DVDs. However, I do not want to risk trying to play the Blu-ray again.
So, what's going on here? HP advertised this computer as having a Blu-ray DVD player. Wasn't HP responsible for providing software that could play Blu-ray DVDs? And why is the Blu-ray DVD, sometimes detected, and sometimes not detected, by playing software? Is there some kind of hardware issue?

You're not going to get any help from HP or Microsoft on a 4 year old computer.   Maybe your optical drive is no longer able to play Bluray discs. Windows 7 Media Center with Bluray playback was not included in all versions of Windows 7. Each computer with Bluray has an individual license; yours may have expired after not using it for 4 years. Best advice - don't flog a dead horse. Just get regular DVDs.
