UDP Furewall setting in 10.4.6 - What does it block?

I'm unclear about what I would be blocking if I activated the UDP setting in Firewall.
I am not networked to other computers except through a router for internet access in which my MAC is the primary. There's no direct file sharing or intentional remote access at this time. I may in future do FTP.
Is UDP of any concern in this case?

What does a blocked caller hear?

Yes, I am using the latest version of my OS and Skype. I use the "premium" version with a Skype phone number. I have managed to block several marketing callers...only to have two new ones start showing up for every one I block. My question is, what does a calling party hear when they call after I block them? Is it just a "hang up" or is there some sort of "you have been blocked" message?

It makes your phone line busy to them 24x7. I just blocked myself and reset all my Skype clients and that's exactly what it did. I have had a Skype number for over eight years and I still get the occasional standard spam calls you get with any phone line (especially published/listed) except that I can block them when I couldn't with a standard provider. I generally get auto dialer calls in pairs. One to test it out followed by another within 5 minutes or so as a follow-up. Most of the time I block those I don't get any more incoming for a while though some weeks I get a few sets of those. Blocking helps even if it doesn't appear that way due to the unfathomable amount of fake number combinations.

What does a "Block Agent" Job Actually Do?

In the Job Activity tab of a 10.2.0.5 OEM, we now have the ability to create a "Block Agent" job. However, I can find no documentation on this job type (including within OEM online help). Can anyone explain what this does or why I'd want to create such a job. Thanks.

You would use it on agents that fail to upload properly. You would then block the agent until you can resolve the upload issue.
The good thing is when an agent is blocked, OMS will "ignore" requests from the blocked agent so you reduce workload on the OMS.

What does a blocked number hear when trying to contact me?

If they try to text, do they get an alert or does it appear to them that the text went thru? Or, if a blocked number tries to call me, do they hear a message that says something? Will it tell them they've been blocked? I'm just curious what my ex-boyfriend will receive when he tries to call/text.

I am not able to find any doc on this vm option. We are having a issue with this VM ( without the disablefatspin option set ) running weblogic, where after a few hundred requests ( on a SMP machine ), the VM does not respond. We are forced to restart. Thread dumps show a "lock chain" although no deadlocks.
Somebody in this newsgroup ( archive ) had suggested setting the "-XXdisablefatspin option. What does this option do ? Any docs related to this for 1.4.2_04 VM ?

Without your printer model numbers, readers can only give you vague general directions.
System Preferences > Print&Fax > ...
... shows a list of all set-up printers.
If you are having serious problems, it makes sense to "Reset the Printing System" (which also removes all printer set-ups) and add back each printer. It only takes a few minutes.

I have been trying for hours to extend my Extreme Gen 5 network with an Express Gen 2. But no matter what I do or try, it doesn't work. What does happen is my internet gets blocked somehow when the Express is online and looks like it's set up perfect and 'green' - but no internet connection for anything even though the Extreme is green and the modem is good. Once I disconnect the Express, everything is good again.
I've tried LAN, WAN, though a switch, direct connect, Extreme set to Extend the network, the Express set to be an extension. Most of the time I get an error trying to update the Express. But when it seems to be set up perfect, the entire house can't get to the internet. Just when it looks right, it is so wrong.
If anyone can give me exact steps (e.g., "...from the Base Station menu, select the Restore Default Setting option" vice "...just restore the defaults..."), I would greatly appreciate it. I'm left to the conclusion that the Express is faulty. I've been using Airport Utility 6.2 from Mountain Lion on one computer and Airport Utility 5.6.1 from Snow Leopard on another computer (the latter give more control while the former just want you to 'forget' the Express).

I finally got it working. I was trying to set it up ethernet. My biggest mistake was when the new Express came on, I did not select 'Continue' - I went straight to manual thinking that I would get the most setup options in manual mode. So everything I initially tried always resulted in 'wireless'. Even when I would update or restore default settings, the Express would not completely restart. Or sometimes I would get an error. So most of the time I had to unplug it. So when it came back up, none of my changes were retained. But there were a lot of times when everything was green and appeared to be fine. But anytime the ethernet cable was plugged in, no more internet.
So here's the weird part. When I finally tried 'continue' (vice manual), I would get 4 options. One would be 'ethernet' extended. So I would select it, it gave me green lights, all looked good, and still the same problem. This is when I got frustrated. I thought I had exhausted all possible combinations.
But somehow when trying continue again after another restore, I only got 3 options. One was the same ethernet extended option (can't remember what the missing 4th one was). And this time it worked - it gave me the big green circle with the checkmark saying it was successful. I don't know what I did different, but I know now that it won't work if 4 options come up to choose from. It will work if only 3 options come up. And success if only verified by the big checkmark. Had anyone anywhere said the checkmark declaring success is validation, then maybe I wouldn't have gone down so many rabbit holes thinking it should have been successful.
As for which Airport Utility I prefer, 6.2 looks nice, but it would just ignore the Express and would want me to 'forget' it and would not let me edit it. Airport Utility 5.6.1 was the one that I ended up using the most and finally had success with. It still strikes me as odd that there is no manually way to pick ethernet, it can only be choosen following a 'restore defaults', and only from the 3-option list (the 4-option list had the same ethernet choice, but it no worky).

Using Airport 5.6.1
1) Restore Defaults from Base Station menu
2) Following restart, Select Continue
3) Of the 3 option presented, select 'ethernet.... extend network...'
- if 4 options are present, may not work
4) Wait for the green circle with the big white checkmark.
5) Connected Express to the switch where a cable went to other end of house - works.
Dead-zone went from 2mbps to 24mbps.
I probably spent 4 hours chasing my tail in anger. The correct way took about 5 minutes total.

If the Time Capsule is operating normally, the light will be green.
If the amber light is blinking, something is not adjusted correctly, or there may be an update available for the Time Capsule.
Do you have the device that was used to set up and configure the Time Capsule there? Is this a Mac? If yes, we need to know what operating sysem it is using.
If you are not sure, click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen and then click About This Mac. Post back with the OS X Version number that you see there.

Quite probably, or it may just be off and out of range of a network. In order to find a missing iOS device it has to have had the app enabled, and be on, not wiped, and able to connect to a network.

Try to change your Apple ID back to your old email address (http://appleid.apple.com) in order to set up and activate the phone. After the set up please sign out of iCloud and turn off "Find My iPhone" (Settings > iCloud) - do that on all your devices -, then change your Apple ID to your new address again and then add your iCloud account on you devices again.

I think he means to set up the main extreme as the main router or "main base station", and then use the express to "extend" the network.
