UDS Control Panel is Read Only (Newbie)

Hi All,
I have just installed a Central Server Node on a Solaris 8 Environment,. When I open the UDS Control Panel (using the fcontrol command), the UDS Control panel pops up - but it is marked read only. I cannot change anything in the control panel.
Can anyone help me out with this
Regards
Mano

The behavior you are seeing is explaned in the UDS System Management Guide, appendix B.
If you use the utility on any platform other than the Windows, you cannot change
any of the settings, so the Control Panel simply displays a Close button. Click the
Close button to close the dialog when you have finished viewing the settings.

  • Failed to bring up UDS Control Panel

    Hi,
I have installed FORTE-UDS 5.0.3 on a Windows 2000 professional machine. The problem is, when I tried to bring up the UDS Control Panel, I see the start up screen flashed by and nothing happened.
From the DOS prompted, I manually invoked the command:
    C:\forte\install\bin\ftexec.exe -fs -fss -fi bt:c:\forte\USERAPP\ENVIRONM\CL0\FCONTROL
and got the following error message:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Roberto for your reply. I could not find "windows sockets.dll" anywhere. This .dll file does not exist even on the Win 2000 machines that I had no trouble invoking UDS Control Panel. My machine has wsock32.dll in the C:\WINNT\system32 directory and the system path is also set to point to that directory.
By the way, when someone else logs onto the same machine, he has no trouble bringing up UDS Control Panel. The problem occurs only if I logon. I also compared the environment variables with that person's environment variables and they are exactly the same.

  • ICloud Control Panel Sync - Calendar only

I use the iCloud facility in 1.6, to sync a shared icloud calendar with outlook on a desktop/laptop. This allows my wife and I to have a shared calendar.accessibleon the iPad's and the Windows machines we use.
The fantastic feature of 1.6 allowed me to just sync Calendar's/Tasks and not email.
This allowed me to sync our Shared calendar to my WORK OUTLOOK and also to my Home Laptop.
Since 2.0 Apple have merged the settings so now you have no choice but to sync email too. I cannot sync my home email and my work email to iCloud. Nor do I need to.
Does anyone know if there is an intent to split these features back out.  2.1.1 doesnt seem to do this.

Mmmmm.... this could work but not without first sending/synching email accounts.  Seems to me as soon as you check the box and hit apply, it goes into auto synch mode.... until it is set up.
SInce I have 2 compeltely separate Outlook environments (Work and Home) I have no idea how it will handle the email synching.   For calendar's I know they are in separate locations/folders so work well.
But I may have to just try it.
Problem is...  unchecking may not display, but does it still synch anyway.
There is also security issues of my work email becoming part of my home icloud account.
One thing Windows and Apple  have never understood is how to keep these two separate.

  • Cant access quicktime control panel

I may be stupid or somethin, but I can't find the **** quicktime control panel to upgrade to the pro version.
I looked through my computer's control panel, there is only one user on it, but it looks like there is also an old administrator user there too.
There isn't anything about quicktime in my control panel, and I looked through the quicktime files in the c drive and didn't see anything about a control panel there either. Somebody got an idea? Because I just spent a worthless 39 dollars, and am seriously considering making the switch to linux.

Thanks. I do have a lot of appreciation for the macintosh-expecially since they came out with the os x. There's no doubt about it, it will be my next computer. If only I could get one at work.
But until I can afford that new computer, it's easy to convert my windows machine into that friendly linux that I'm getting used to.
There's no mistaking that Apple is the best in the business. But with windows, it's always one thing after another. I bought a new computer a year ago, the one I had lasted me 6 years, was expecting this one to do the same. But alas, a few viruses later it was toast. HP didn't give me the software to start over, so I had to do a system restore. Needless to say I don't have time to dig through my entire hard drive deleting the remains of the virus. But hey-no problem, because I have another one on there now.
And AIM is causing some wierd things to happen with the ui, among many other problems I constantly have.
So, instead of buying a new version of windows xp, which I can only re-install twice, I'm switching to my friendly linux. Then when I can, it's apple.
I really think the only reason people don't switch to the mac is because the first time you use it, it's different enough to be confusing or even frustrating. But after the first week, anybody should be using one with confidence. Some people might need some kind of tutorial or something.

  • When checking the icloud control panel I noticed that there is no 'mail, contacts ect' option to activate, it just indicates to go to the icloud, so cannot update. When I go to the icloud, these apps have nothing in them from my phone.

When trying to back up to icloud from phone, have followed instructions but there is no option to select the tick box for mail, contacts, calendars and tasks. It just refers me to the icloud. When I go to the cloud, the only thing that's backed up is my contacts. Any ideas?

I meant to say when in the control panel!

  • Windows BUG: Can't change file types through control panel Quicktime settings

I am running the latest version of Quicktime on Viista Home Premium 64-bit.
When I into Control Panel -> View 32-bit Control Panel Items -> Quicktime -> Browser, and I click on "File Types" or "MIME Settings", I get a blank page that looks like this: http://oi40.tinypic.com/hvbbia.jpg, and Quicktime momentarily freezes.
I have no issue adjusting file type settings when bringing up Quicktime outside of control panel, or when using "Default Programs" within control panel, it's only when I do it within "View 32-bit Control Panel Items" that it does this.
This is a minor bug but still weird. Can anyone else verify the issue? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that didn't help.

This could be caused by damaged QuickTime preference files (or possibly a permissions problem on the preferences files).
We can try rebuilding one set of your preference files to see if that helps with the greyed-out stuff.
First, quit QuickTime if you have it open.
Next, you'll need to make sure you are set up to view hidden files and folders in Vista (or 7).
    1. From the Start menu, click Open.
    2. In the Organize menu, click Folder and Search Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected.
    5. Click OK.
Next, you'll remove the QuickTime preference folder (and contained file).
    6. In Computer, open Local Disk: C or whichever drive your documents are stored on.
    7. Open the Users folder.
    8. Open the folder with the name of the Windows 7 user account in which the QuickTime file types are "greyed out".
    9. Open the AppData folder.
    10. Open the Local folder.
    11. Open the Apple Computer folder.
    12. Drag the QuickTime folder out onto the Desktop.
Now you'll rebuild the preference folder and file.
    13. Launch QuickTime. Check your file types again.
Are they still greyed out, or can you change them now?

  • Can't find Quick time control panel to enter in Quick time PRO registration

I just bought Quicktime Pro 7. I installed Quicktime 7 and can't find the quick time 7 control panel. The only way to download quicktime Pro is if I can access the Qucktime control panel???? How do I locate the quicktime control panel if it is not actually located in MY Control panel?? I'm confused.

David's referring to the Preferences in QuickTime Player, just so it's clear.

  • Icloud control panel hangs

We are behind a corporate firewall and an authenticated proxy server and I suspect that is the cause of this issue, but the iCloud Control Panel will not startup.  You click on the panel and nothing changes.  Perhaps the control panel should use only very standard ports and protocols and prompt for proxy security when necessary.
Environment Windows 7 (64 bit), Lenovo Thinkpad

I had the same problem. Examining the console log showed that I needed to agree to some terms of service, but no terms of service showed up to agree to. On the iCloud panel I signed out and then signed in again. I had to agree to remove a bunch of stuff to sign out. When I signed in again the terms of service panel showed up and I was finally able to log in. Hope this helps!
    Some error text from console:
    com.apple.iCloudHelper:
    ErrorID = "MOBILEME_TERMS_OF_SERVICE_UPDATE"
description = "This account needs to accept the ToS"
(even though mobileme is gone, I guess the errors haven't been updated)

  • Removing access to "PC Settings" Modern UI app (but allow Control Panel access)

    Hi all,
I have just deployed Windows 8.1 Pro to a  number of machines and am having an issue with the "PC Settings" Modern UI app - this allows users to modify local users (i.e. create new local users, modify existing local users) and play with settings
that they shouldn't be messing with! This happens even when though the "Show only specified Control Panel items" policy setting has been configured (which works correctly with the classic Control Panel).
The only way I can get this blocked is by enabling the "Prohibit access to Control Panel and PC Settings" policy setting; however, this also blocks access to Control Panel, which is required for users to access
    keyboard, mouse and printer settings.
Is there any way to block access to the "PC Settings" Modern UI app? (I have already removed all Modern Apps (and provisioned apps) possible by using the usual PowerShell cmdlets).
The users need to be able to add/remove printers and modify keyboard settings (nothing else), hence minimal Control Panel functionality is essential. I need to be able to block all settings being accessed from the PC Settings Modern UI app though!
    Has anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Kim

    Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, AppLocker is only available in Windows 8.1 Enterprise / Ultimate. We are using Professional.

  • ICloud control panel for Outlook not working

The panel of iCloud tomsyncronise on outlook doesn't work. It not appear in control panel.
    Thank you

I don't really know what you mean by 'tomsyncronise'. Are you saying that you can't check Outlook from the Control panel? Did you install Outlook 2007 or 2010? The Control panel does not support Outlook Express.
or are you saying that the Outllok checkbox is missing from the Control panel?

  • Unable to download iCloud control panel to my PC.

I have attempted several times to install the iCloud Control Panel to my PC.  Each time, an error message has come up saying "An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft,VC80.CRT,type="win32",version="8.0.50727.6195",publicKeyToken="1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="amd64"'. Try uninstalling iTunes and all of it's components as explained here: Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8.  (Uninstall them in the order specified in this document.)  Then reinstall the 64-bit version of iTunes for Windows and try installing the control panel again.

  • Windows server 2008 can't access control panel and can't choose "properties" under "my computer"

    Hello everyone!
Today after a schedule restart on the night I thought everything was normal with my server. But When i go to "start -> control panel" it show me "empty". And if I try to lunch "change/remove software" via search window in
    "start" then nothing happen.
I know also that I can't right click on "computer" and choose "properties" in the start-menu.
Also another problem. I did install Fbackup to make schedule file backups on the night. The software worked well to launch when I had installed it, but after the night, this morning it just crash on launch.
I can also tell that I did add from 4 CPU core to 6 CPU cores.

    Hi,
Have you tried to see if the issue persists when you boot into Safe Mode? Since you it shows blank when accessing Control Panel, please check if the policy setting below has been
    configured.
Please choose Start – Run - type (gpedit.msc) - click on (Administrative Templates) - (control Panel) -
Prohibit access to Control Panel and Show only specified Control Panel applets. If they were configured, please disable them to see if it could resolve the issue.
In addition, the issue may also be caused by the virus, please run a system scan to see if there is any virus. At this time, you can also launch Control Panel apps from the command
line, and here's a list of .cpl files for your reference that you can print out:

  • Why does the iCloud Control Panel say "Install Outlook to use Mail, Contacts, and Calendars?"

I've just successfully installed the iCloud Control Panel on my PC (runs with Vista). Why does the iCloud Control Panel say "Install Outlook to use Mail, Contacts, and Calendars?" The Bookmarks (with Safari) and Photo Stream options are active, but the Mail (with Outlook), Contacts (with Outlook),and Calendars and Tasks (with Outlook) are not. I'm using Office Outlook 2007. I used to be able to synch my iPhone with my PC's Outlook through iTunes without any problems. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Windows explorer crashed when I try to open control panel

I have a Linx 10 tablet with windows 8.1 installed.  my daughter downloaded a fake chrome installer and when she tried to install it nothing happened (apparently).  I installed AVG 15 and it immediately detected a load of files infected with a
virus which it removed.  Now I cannot open the control panel.  The window opens but is empty and then it hangs and I can only close the window by using task manager.  I tried to perform a system recovery (Full factory reset) using the recovery
utility but it just sits there preparing.  I have tried to open a number of control panel utilities nut they either don't run or open a window the same as control panel and can only be closed by using task manager.
I suspect that some of the files infected were system files used by windows as some of them were dll files.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
Since this problem caused by virus infection, first of all, we need to use anti-virus software scan your system to make sure the virus were killed.
Secondly, to fix this problem, you can try to use SFC /scannow
command to fix system componments dll files lost or corrupt.
If no use, try to use DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    instead for test.
