UE-V Black Wallpaper

Hi
We have implemented UE-V, I have noticed that on occasions when logging onto a W7 workstation and then logging onto a W8.1 workstation the background wallpaper on the W8.1 workstation becomes just a black wallpaper.
Another thing which is even more wired is that when you click the start menu on the W8.1 workstation, the desktop tile shows the correct wall paper as it is on the W7 workstation??
But when you click the desktop tile to go back into the desktop it only shows a black wallpaper? has anyone else experienced this??
Does anyone actually know why this happens?

Networking blip?? When logging in UE-V tried to det the Desktop Background but something went wrong. Likely a network issue. I've noticed this happen in some companies with GPO too.
Personally, my preference is to set a default desktop background as part of my image and then re-enforce using Group Policy.
If you'd like to carry over Users set desktop backgrounds, I'd suggest looking through logs and see if there's any problems causing the hiccups

  • Vista just updated and now we have a black wallpaper - Satellite P300

Windows Vista updated last night on our P300 laptop and now acts rather weird.
We get only a solid black wallpaper and a lot of the icons we had are no longer there, and it wont change the wallpaper. Most programs arent loading at startup like normal (only the anti virus) and most things are missing from the start menu... has this happened to anyone before? It almost sounds like what they do when you have a pirate copy of Vista (and of course this one IS legit as it came with the lappy)...
    Any suggestings?
I havent physically got to see the laptop and wont be able to til tomorrow myself... Though knowing my mate its probably only something simple but thought there check around before I get there incase.
    Thankyou :)

    Solved the problem..
A windows update some how damaged the register.
I hit log off in windows, then tried to click the user name to log in (we have it set to just auto log in) and while trying to load the profile, we got a The User Profile Service service failed the logon.
A system restore fixed the issue... :)

  • Black wallpaper on log-on screen after wakeup.

Apols, but I can't find anything realting to this elsewhere. Am still a newbie with macs (though I'm loving it!). Have set my wallpaper to the MAc pictures within OSX, but every time I wake my MBP from sleep, the bakcground is black - note this isn't a crash or "black screen" as I still get my log-on ID boxes etc. When I start up from turned off the Aurora background appears at log-in, so I don't know what's gon on with the wake up log-in screen... Anyone with any ideas?
    Many thanks!

Have a look here "Topic : Desktop Wallpaper Issues" (http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2132964). Of particular note is if you have EarthDesk installed.
If nothing there works, may also want to look at "Topic : Desktop picture reset on startup (Missing com.apple.desktop.plist file)" (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2482650&tstart=2).

  • Black wallpaper after gnome upgread

    Hello everyone
Since I upgread gnome I have a black thing that cover my wallpaper.
I still have the menu bar, gnome work like a charm and when I am in "exposé" mode I can still see my wallpaper.
I found a temporary solution : at each startup I run "xkill" and kill the black thing.
Doesn't anyone know how I can get rid of it forever?

    Hello,
I had the same issue at each boot (but with a white background instead). Instead of xkill, I restarted gnome-shell each time (Alt+F2 r). I just disabled autologin and now it works like a charm.

  • Fixed black wallpaper - any ideas?

My son's 3G wallpaper can't be changed. It's always black. This happened when he was on OS 3.1. I updated to 4.1 and didn't help.
There was a problem with the update. I think having App Install restrictions enabled breaks the 4.1 update/restore process. This is a bug which I'll try submitting to Apple.
I worked around that and tried a range of fixes including erasing the phone from iTunes, erasing from the internal iPhone reset menu, and even forcing a DFU (firmware update to reinstall 4.1).
Nothing worked. His wallpaper is still black and cannot be changed.
Curiously the phone doesn't complain about this, it will let me choose wallpaper but it doesn't ask if I want to update the lockscreen, background, or both.
The only two things I can think of now are *** and looking through the file system, or trying a genius store. Or just live with it and look for more reports.
It could be hardware problem of course. Maybe the images are stored at a memory location that's failed.
    Curious.
    Any ideas?

I was really hoping I'd get to delete my question before anyone read it.
    Sniff. Sob. How humiliating.
It's been a while since I've used a 3G. As you point out, the wallpaper is black ... because you can't set the wallpaper. It's always been that way. Only **** 3G phones had changeable wallpaper.
It's not a bug. My son misled me when he asked me to fix his iPhone so he could change his wallpaper.
Oh well. Now I know how to DFU an iPhone.
    Thank you.

  • Changing background colour of W995 (when you don't have wallpaper)?

    Hello,
If i set my phone to have no wallpaper the background colour for the main screen is grey.  Sorry if this is a dumb question, but does anyone know how to change this to black?  I think it was black to start with but somehow it got changed and I can't see a straightforward way of setting it back to black using the Display options because on my phone (W995) there is option here for colour change.
Many thanks for any help anyone can offer

What I really want to do is to set the background to black, then have a picture that i've taken in landscape as my wallpaper.  Because it's in landscape some of the background is still seen at the top and bottom and i want this to be black rather than grey.  I'm sure it was before, I just find it crazy that it has changed and there is no easy or obvious way to change it back - especially as the default setting must have been black.  I tried doing a reset of setting but it still came up as grey, even though I had to reset the time and date and so on.
I wish they just had a menu so you could select a background colour, but it seems that doesn't exist.  Sorry to be seeming so difficult, because I appreciate your suggestions - I should have explained before that it isn't so much that I want a black wallpaper as a black background to put an image on top of as wallpaper.

  • GPO for custom html wallpaper doesn't work on Windows 7

    Hi Guys,
I have 3 organizations with Windows 2003 server and many clients (Win XP/Win 7).
I created a new GPO to set a active wallpaper to the OU and set there html file to be the wallpaper.
It’s works excellent on Win XP clients, But in Win 7 clients I recieved black wallpaper instead.
I even tried to set JPG\BPM wallpaper to check the GPO – and it’s work great on Win XP and Win 7 both !
The problem is only with html wallpaper in Win 7 clients.
    Someone have an idea?
    Thank you !

    Hi Yaakov-l,
I agree with Denis. Active Desktop is not supported in Windows Vista (including Windows 7). Since, Windows
Vista has replaced the Active Desktop with Windows Sidebar (Called Windows Desktop Gadgets starting with Windows 7). This seems to be the root reason why html wallpaper isn’t applied to Windows 7 clients correctly.
In Windows 7 client, please open Registry Editor and navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WallPaper.
Then create a String Value to set wallpaper and then check if can help to solve this issue. You can apply the registry setting to multiple computers via GPP (In GPME: Preference->Windows Settings-> Registry).
Please note: before modify any regsitry, please back up. It will help us to avoid some unexpected issues.
If anything I misunderstand, please don't hesitate to let me know.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Justin Gu

    No effect.
To summarize, I face to 3 differents situations:
after boot, whatever I have inside my autostart>black wallpaper, no wallpaper picture, no desktop icon, it seems not to be pcmanfm desktop, but I dont have nitrogen (even feh) wallpaper active.
after launching "nitrogen --restore", nitrogen remembers last selected  wallpaper
after launching "pcmanfm --desktop", pcmanfm remembers last selected wallpaper from pcmanfm utility, it seems to be pcmanfm desktop.
after launching again "pcmanfm --desktop-off", i find again my previous nitrogen wallpaper
    In conclusion
I don't know why pcmanfm is off after launching lxde, and doesnt allow to use nitrogen
I dont' know why nitrogen is not launched after lxde opening but it should be

  • How to change 9.0 background color from black?

The general display background for Acrobat 9.0 is black. How
do I change it to a more tolerable color?
I am not referring to in-document background, which is white
by default. I am referring to the black wallpaper that is present
when opening the program, before opening a pdf file to view. The
black stays behind the documents, giving too harsh a contrast.
Windows XP lets me control the color of my desktop

  • I HAVE A BLACK SPOT GROWING ON MY PHONE

Is this common ?! I have an iphone 5!!! I know it's a dead pixel but I never seen this EVER HAPPEN! Ugh.. If I replace the screen will this happen again?! I'm tired of it! This black spot is the size of an American quarter!!! It also has yellow, purple, blue and green around the black spot and when I have a black wallpaper on the phone, it's a glowing green In the middle. will apple do something about this?! I feel like I'm the only one that has this!!

Sounds like either a defect in the LCD, or physical damage to the LCD. Make an appointment at the genius bar and see what they say.

thanks and excuse my bad english

Hi, I've noticed the exact same thing on my screen... But it seems like a feature...?
To those who don't see it: Turn off the light and crank the brightness to Full. Check out the black border around the Macbook Pro logo at various angles. It looks like a square of light at each side.
..Anyone else got that around their screen?

  • Ipad wallpaper

Since I updated to ios8.1.2, my wallpaper keeps changing and I cannot reset it through settings

I'm just wondering where that black is coming from. I would think if you remove the wallpaper the screen should be bright not dark. A friend has black wallpaper and needed to use a black photo. Hopefully somebody else has heard of your problem, I'm stumped.

  • Top 10 Most Reasonable Feature Requests for BlackBerry 10.3

Real DNA wrote:- In this post I am going to list some of the most reasonable features that I think would be doable and useful for the next installment of the BB10 OS. I'm going to leave out any concept-like ideas and or major overhauls and focus on things that I feel could become a reality.
    1) Ability to hide shadow boxes around app icons on home screen
Michael Clewley already hinted that this ability would be in 10.2.1, but during some of the leaked builds and announcements, it doesn't really seem like it will be coming in this release. If it doesn't come in official builds of 10.2.1, then it should be very likely to appear in 10.3. In the meantime, an easy way to get rid of the shadowboxes is by using a dark or black wallpaper
    2) Ability to adjust App grid sizes on home screen
Following up on the first point, so far there are 3 app grid configurations for BB10 devices: 3x4 on Q devices, 4x4 on the Z10 and 5x4 on the Z30. Having the option to pick between those layout and potentially adding more (3x3 or 5x5) seems like something doable. Now for Q devices it might seem like something a bit unnecessary considering the already cramped screen size, well you would be right in thinking that except for this...is an image I will post in my album.
Granted, that's a bit impractical, but it was pretty nice having the option to basically have 4 or 6 columns. Since they've done it before and the BB10 phones have bigger screens, why not?
    3) Ability to hide icons
Another feature from legacy devices was the ability to hide redundant or just rarely used icons from sight. It would certainly be a good way for me and other people to not have a folder like this...also an image.
    4) Limitless Folders
BlackBerry, why are we limited to only 16 apps per folder? Something like this is pretty simple since you could literally put EVERY SINGLE app you had in one folder in PlayBook OS and BB7. (I've done it before)
    5) Customizable Fonts
Something I that I think was a bit underrated in legacy devices was the ability to customize fonts. I loved having a crisp and professional Times New Roman font or Sans Serif when I wanted to play around and experiment. I don't have a problem with the standard BB10 "Slate" font, but options are always nice.
    6) Customizable LED
I know this is something a lot of people have been wanting for a very long time, so 10.3 might finally be the time for it. There are plenty of very good apps that do this, but when I realized that LG's Android JellyBean skin on the G2 had the ability right out of the box, I figured now would be as good a time as any for BB (who's most notable for the LED notification light) to have it built in.
    7) Battery Saver Mode
Z10 owners, I know you would really appreciate this. Introduced in BB OS 7.1 was a battery saver mode to help increase the longevity of your device when it gets to a certain percentage. And with me having a Curve 9350 with a measly 1000 mAh battery at the time, this was a life saver.

I would be able to squeeze out a couple more hours of extra use with the mode enabled at 40-50%. For Z10 owners especially, this feature could potentially wipe out one of the biggest or only real major flaw: the battery life. This could also be great for the Z30 and Q10 owners already getting stellar battery life.
Universal Dark/Light Theme and Dark Hub option
This one would be huge in terms of aesthetics and potentially power saving. (Form and function at its finest) For all users having the ability to customize all of the native apps or specific ones to be light or dark adds a nice amount of customization to the devices. Having a Dark hub seems like a great way to increase battery life even more especially if the device is used mainly for communication. If you spend most of your time in the hub anyway, you might as well preserve battery life while enjoying the sleekness it brings.
    9) Landscape Home screen, Peek, and Flow
I'm not going to mention the fact that the PlayBook and Torches could do this because that would be beating a dead horse. I, however, will mention two great benefits it would bring:
    1) Playing games, watching videos, or typing using the landscape keyboard layout - Its a minor annoyance to have to turn the device back to portrait orientation or have to leave the app completely to view where and who my notification is from. BB Flow is arguably a way to differentiate from the normal way of doing things, the "in and out paradigm" if you will, so having this essentially nullified when the device is in landscape just seems counter-intuitive. Keeping the flow consistent enhances the user experience and it just seems more cohesive overall. Also its a bit weird returning to the home screen while your device is in landscape and its set to portrait. Granted the actionable notifications help, but the full solution is best.
    2) HDMI out/ Miracast "Mobile Computing" - One of the things that former CEO Thorsten Heins really talked about was the ability to simply plug into a monitor and have your phone truly be your home/ office/ mobile computer. That's great, but it doesn't really work when my output on a widescreen monitor only takes up maybe a third of the screen real estate (not that big a problem for Q devices). Having a landscape home screen just makes sense if you use or potentially want to use your device for something like that.
    10) Android 4.4 Kit Kat Application Support
BlackBerry is pushing this Android runtime really hard as far as getting more apps and making sure they run as smooth as possible, so it just seems like a no-brainer for them to stay as up to date as possible. Considering the BB10 upgrade cycle 10.2 in September/October and 10.2.1 in January/February it should be expected that a 10.3 release would be in Spring or an early summer. By then Android Kit Kat should have a decent amount of marketshare among android users, so most apps should be updated to support it by then.
That's my list so feel free to tell me what you think or if I missed anything REASONABLE. Some honorable mentions would be customizing the bottom dock, an equalizer, further pull down enhancements and integration with Skydrive and Google Drive in the native file manager.
