Is there a tutorial on how to flash the new BIOS?
Decompress the provided .rar archive with Winrar: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Then flash the desired file included with Nvflash for dos: http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/nvflash_download.html
To do so rename the included file to .rom and create a dos bootstick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0)
Put nvflash and the vbios file on it and boot from the stick. Then type nvflash -4 -5 -6 gop.rom (if renamed vbios that way) and hit enter. Confirm the questions and let the tool flash.

Also, what is the difference between normal and ln2, or witch one is safe to use?
normal is the pre-overclocked default vbios. LN2 (which can be chosen via the selector switch on top of your card) is not factory overclocked but allows more extreme manual oc without the limits of normal vbios (more voltage and power draw allowed). This is especially needed for extreme oc like if using Liquid nitrogen (LN2) cooling for oc records.

Any chance that my Bios is the same?
    And i can use it?
    Can i post my Bios.rom?
    Tnx for reply!
Em, we don't have a second sight... You need to at least supply some info on your card namely S/N and a copy of your vbios saved to file (that you uploaded to some file hoster and added link here).

  • BIOS needed for a K8D Master-3 FS(M)

I just got a K8D Master-3 FS(M) MB and while trying to solve a problem I have done something rather stupid!
I have replaced the BIOS with one meant for the K8D Master-F by mistake.  Interestingly enough the computer still works although things could obviously be better!  It only sees the RAM attached to CPU0 and it has a couple of minor errors, but other than that I can run Debian Linux fine.  Also the problem with the LSI Logic 21320-R card with SCSI disks attached hanging during POST is actually solved with the wrong BIOS!
I need to get a copy of the original BIOS (1.0a) to reflash with, and then I should be back to where I started!
If someone is able to help me get a copy of the original Master-3 BIOS, I would really appreciate it.  Basically the Master-F BIOS update program allows you to save a copy of the original Master-3 BIOS, which I should have done if I was thinking. Here is what you need to do:
    1. Go to this page http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/bios/bos/spt_bos_detail.php?UID=441&kind=3 and download the 9131v1.2.exe BIOS update program.
    2. Put the files on a bootable DOS floppy, except for the BIOS update file itself (A9131KMS.120).  This will ensure that there is room (4Mb, i.e. 512KB) to save your existing BIOS onto the floppy.
    3. Boot the DOS disk and run amiflash.exe
4a. Press Alt-F to bring up the "File" options
4b. Press the Down Arrow to go to the "BIOS Filename for saving..."
4c. Enter "A:\origbios.rom"   The program will save the original BIOS to your floppy.  Please send a copy of this to me!!!  I am really stuck at the moment, because MSI does not publish the original on their website.
    Thanks in advance,
    Brian

Just send an email to [email protected] for the BIOS, normally they are very willing to send you that version.

Don't bump your posts: >>Please read and comply with the Forum Rules.<<
I guess you mean ASUS Z9PE-D8 WS and not WD. That is a dual cpu socket XEON workstation board not meant for gaming (hardware). The NV282MS.352 vbios the vga uses is a current one. Contact Asus and report the compatibility issue and maybe they can help you with.
My use of my system is video editing.  It uses gpu heavily for encoding.  Hence, the hot GFX card I just purchased.  I have been in contact several times with Asus, since they also produce an N770 card, and they do not have any known compatibility issues with their own products, at least.  The card worked perfectly with this N770 card when it had the previous BIOS.  It was when I upped the BIOS to the latest version that I had the issue.  Other GFX cards do work.  The N770 wont finish POST.  100% fail.  I ended up purchaseing a new BIOS chip with the previous bios flashed, since they could not produce a procedure for me to downgrade.  However, I will not be able to use new CPUs with the later micro-codes until I find a way to update the BIOS.  Otherwise, I would be FD&H with the old one.
    Thanks for the reply,
    Rod

  • Install Windows 7 .. what setting in BIOS needed for it to read my flash drive first?

I just got the Erazer 315.  It comes with 8.1 but I want to install 7 Pro into it. Anyone know what steps I need to take?how do I install it? What settings in the BIOS should I change to  make it read my usb flashdrive first? Thanks

    hi luism60613,
You have two options in installing Windows 7
Option 1: Install Windows 7 in UEFI / GPT
    1. Follow this guide on how to create a bootable Windows 7 UEFI  installer.
    2. Boot into the BIOS and set the following (if applicable)
    Security Tab:
    Secure Boot = Disabled
    Exit Tab:
    OS Optimized Defaults = Disabled
    3. Boot from the bootable Windows 7 UEFI installer that you created in Step 1 (by pressing F12 on startup and selecting the flashdrive) and install it on the Windows 8.1 partition (you can format this partition if you like) and you should be able to run Windows 7 in UEFI (this also preservers the OneKey Recovery which you can use to re-install Windows 8.1).
Option 2: Install Windows in MBR (Legacy)
    1. Follow this guide on how to create a Windows 7 legacy installer.
    2. Boot into the BIOS and set the following settings:
    Security Tab:
    Secure Boot = Disabled
    Boot Tab:
    CSM = Enabled
    Boot Priority = Legacy First
    Exit Tab:
    OS Optimized Defaults = Disabled
    3. Boot from the Windows 7 installer that you created in Step 1 and on the Windows 7 installation screen, you will need to wipe all partitions or press Shift+F10 to open diskpart and issue the clean and convert mbr command to install Windows 7.
Note that this step will wipe everything so ensure you create a recovery drive (see this guide) just in case you want to restore Windows 8.1.

A bad thing.  But the card is still flashable no matter what the condition of the BIOS within.  For example, have a looksy here
