UFT-8

I'm having some serious problems with UTF-8 encoded pages, constructed with Dreamweaver CS5.5. The doctype of all the pages is DOCTYPE! html (--> HTML5).
My site contains HTML and PHP-pages an is constructed on a template. All the pages have the meta-tag "<meta charset="UFT-8"> in the <head>-tag.
When uploading new pages or altered pages those UFT-8-encoded characters (like ë, €, ...) will not be correctly displayed anymore, instead a diamond with question mark is shown on the online page.
I haven't used the corresponding html-codes (like €) because I don't want to use those codes anymore. For this we have UTF-8, don't we?
Under Dreamweaver -> preferences -> new document: the standard code says Unicode 6.0 - UTF-8, hereby I think my preference-settings are correct.
When I make pages outside Dreamweaver (like Coda) I also use the meta-tag with UTF-8 and have no problems displaying those characters.
Does anyone can help me with this problem?
ps: I've read something similar on these forums regarding an older version of Dreamweaver (I think Dreamweaver CS3 of 4). Can this be the same old thing?

As far as I read, this could be server-related, i.e. the server doesn't know how to treat UTF-8. I however have a lot of Wordpress sites running with UTF-8 with no hassle, only my handcoded UTF-8 sites suffer from the same. Did you get any insight in what to do to succeed ?

   Please upgrade UR windows 7 Service pack to Service pack 2.
   from my knowledge for SQL SERVER 2012 it requires Windows 7 service pack.
   And before installing SQL server 2012 Plz activate .NET framework for that,
   Put UR windows 7 Format CD then,
   Run Command prompt as Administrator and paste following cmd in that
DISM.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /All /Source:c:\net35 /LimitAccess
it will take 2 min. after that restart your PC and try to install SQL server 2012.
Note: Before installing SQL SERVER again format UR PC/lapy once.
After this if it gives error while installation then plz change ur setup and try again.

Getting a License Error while installing UFT 12.01 trial version

Hi,
I am trying to install UFT 12.01 trial version but its throwing a License error. I am clicking on "Install License" and selecting "Seat License" and clicking on "Next" It says "License Type set successfully".
But next time when i click on UFT icon on the desktop (after restarting my machine) it throws same License Error.
Please find the attached screenshots. Please help me to get UFT installed properly.

Anyone has success with UFT or Vugen 11.5 on WDA via portal?

We are in the process of evaluating UFT 11.5 and/or Loadrunning 11.5 to do both functional and load testing for webdynrpo ABAP(WDA) via the SAP portal. So far, both tools failed miserably. Some of the issues I saw are:
1) Both tools cannot capture selection of radio button in the WDA properly
2) Both tools cannot capture cut/paste actions properly in the webdynpro app
3) Both tools cannot recognize mouse clicks accurately within the webdynpro. A lot of times it ignores the mouse click action altogether.
4) Both tools rely on myself using the tab to capture the fact that I am clicking in differnet input box within the WDA.
I am not sure if anyone has any success using these 2 tools. I know these tools have been around for a long time. Maybe I didn't use the tool properly as I am new to them. Please comment and share your experience?

Thanks for your reply, Jansi. I am going through the UFT manual now. Are you aware of any SDN blog on UFT DP? How well does it work with WDA on the issues above? I found very little discussion on SDN regarding the UFT or Vugen on WDA testing.

Problem using SwfToolbar options in UFT 12.01

We are trying to automate a .net based windows application. We are using UFT 12.01 with .NET ad in loaded
We are having a problem using the swftoolbar options . In our application all the right click menus are identified as swftoolbars and context menus
This is the code we used to add a media item which gives rise to a dialogue box in our application
SwfWindow(...).SwfToolbar(....).Press "Add New Media"
when we use “ .press” or “.select” operator for any option present in the right click menu, UFT hangs after performing the operation and we have to manually close the dialogue box every time it appears in order to make UFT run again.
We have also tried the following ways but can’t find a way to solve it
Using select operator:
SwfWindow(...).SwfToolbar(....).select "Add New Media"
Getting the option in a variable and selecting it:
Var1= SwfWindow(...).SwfToolbar(....).GetItem(0)
SwfWindow(...).SwfToolbar(....).Press Var1
We have also tried using descriptive programming but it didn’t worked out.
We tried using the shortcuts for the right click menu options and it works perfect.
Our application contains a lot of such type of right click options and context menu options, so we can’t rely on shortcuts for every option
It would be a great help for us if u can give us a solution for this problem

I'm just facing exactly the same issue - we try to migrate our .net application probes to UFT 12.01 - but the swfObjects are not recognized. Even if i try to start a new probe with this application, UFT does not start to recognize the Objects as swfObjects.
Anybody knows how to get this fixed?

Reading file in UFT-8 format using OWB

Is it possible to read a flat file having data in UFT-8 format with OWB?

This should be fine, the character set can be defined for files, OWB can load a wide range of file based data from ascii, to binary, to single record to multi record etc..
The ascii based handling is simple, there is a post on the blog illustrating more complex cases;

UFT 12.01 compatibility with windows xp

Hi All,
I am installing UFT 12.01 on my laptop having Windows XP professional. But it is giving message that "Operating system not compatible". Is UFT 12.01 not compatible with windows Xp?
What are the minimum hardware and software requirements to install UFT12.01

HP UFT (QTP) Can't Identify Delphi Objects

We're using Delphi 2005 (version 9) with orpheous.
When we use the Object Spy in HP UFT, a generic name is shown instead of the actual delphi name. For example, our Report Screen would be shown as "DelphiWindow" and additional screens will be shown as "DelphiWindow_1", "DelphiWindow_2", etc.
Obviously this doesn't work when we try to run the test because it can't identify the correct window. What do I need to do to allow UFT to retrieve the name correctly? I have tried doing the same steps in TestComplete and it was able to identify the objects correctly. What's the difference between TestComplete and UFT with regards to object identification?

You can use the object repository to learn objects in your application.
- Click Object Repository Icon
- Click "+" icon to add the objects you want UFT to learn.
- Your screen will then get a pointing icon which you can point ot the application window / panel/tab you want to learn.
- Select "Learn All objects" on next window. This is preferred since you can later decide which ones you want to keep.
- All the objects will be learned and added to your object repository according to their hierarchy.
- You can now refer these objects in your test cases
Few points to note :
- You need to compile your test application using the MicDelphiAgent.pas in project DPR.
- Some Delphi custom controls such as DevX are still not detected completely. So you need to use the Delphi Add In Extensibility Guide or "HP Unified Functional Testing Add-Ins Guide" to see how to extend the Delphi Addin to recognize the custom controls you require.
- In my experience, all standard Delphi VCL, Windows, Raize are detectable.

UFT (QTP 11.5) does not record Chrome

I have recently installed UFT (QTP11.5) and successfully recorded scripts against a web app running in IE8. However, I have issues with Firefox and Chrome:
Firefox v16:
Will record in what appears to be the Terminal mode ie will record mouse clicks on objects via coordinates and when entering text in a field it will simply record this as keyboard input.
Chrome v22:
Will not record anything at all. No objects or low level Terminal mode script is recorded.
Has anyone else seen this? Note: I have installed the GUI Testing Web Add-In and checked it was active on launching UFT.

When I am trying to create a new test or trying opening an existing test it shows an exception with below message.
"An unexpected error occurred.
Click ‘OK’ to close this message. You may be able to continue working,
but note that this workflow may cause the error to occur again.
Click ‘Details’ to display technical details on this error which may help
you solve the problem, or can be used when contacting customer support."
Due to this exception I can't create or execute any test in QTP 11.5 (UFT).
Does anyone know how will I be able to resolve this issue?

HP UFT 12.02 does not support .object property for most of the objects in Chrome

Does not support .object property for WebTable,webList and So on.
It actually shows the native property in Object spy but when programatically we try to work on it, its unable to find the object.
I Know that for Browser Object .object property is not supported.

Slow response of UFT 12.02

Hi,
I am automating a .Net application using UFT 12.02 in Windows8 (8GB--64 bit) machine.Scripts run very slowly and laso UFT responds very slowly. I tried to run the scripts in windows7 machine and found that the scripts ran very fastly compared to windows8
*****Did not changed any defaults settings in both the machines*****
Also there are some web related objects in my application and they are identified as "winobjects" instead of window(....).page(....) . (Note: in previous versions it identified as required)
Please help to resolve my problem

The grid table is identified as SwfObject and its dynamic table. Hence we can’t perform any table operations inside table like get row() , get celldata() etc.,.We need to capture edit box inside a row which is enabled on clicking the particular row.

Converting uft-16 to utf-8

Hi All,
I have file to IDoc Scenario.
Message Mapping is working fine for xml encoding UFT-8.
However Source file I am getting from client has xml encoding UTF-16.
because which my end-to-end mapping is failing.
Can you please suggest me something by which i can change UFT-16 to UFT-8 before i execute my mapping.

Hi Manisha,
In your sender file channel Specify the File Type Text.
Once you have selected Text, specify a code page under File Encoding. The default setting is to use the system code page that is specific to the configuration of the installed operating system. The file content is converted to the UTF-8 code page before it is sent.
Following are the values you can use. I think in ur case use UTF-16.
○       US-ASCII
Seven-bit ASCII, also known as ISO646-US, or Basic Latin block of the Unicode character set
○       ISO-8859-1
ISO character set for Western European languages (Latin Alphabet No. 1), also known as ISO-LATIN-1
○       UTF-8
UTF-8 (BC-ABA)
○       UTF-16BE
16-bit Unicode character format, big-endian byte order
○       UTF-16LE
16-bit Unicode character format, little-endian byte order
○       UTF-16
UTF-16 (BC-ABA), byte order

Run code\function after stopping a QTP\UFT script

Hi,
I have a scenario where I want to perform some tasks (like zipping and attaching files to QC) after my UFT\QTP script is stopped.
The script can stop in all these scenarios:
1.) forcefully manual-stop the script
2.) run-time errors
3.) script test fail (exittest) condition
4.) script successfully ended.
I have tried calling the function (which zips and attaches files to QC) inside my script.
But, disadvantages are:
1.) i have to be very specific at what are the places of code i want to insert this code into.
2.) its a huge performance issue, each time i call this function: it does all these tasks "everytime"...zipping and attaching files.
I just want this function to be called just once, after the QTP script has been stopped.
Is this possible, please help me out.
