Ugh.  I've accidentally TRASHED my iPHOTO APPILICATION.

In one of my more boneheaded moves, I trashed my iphoto application and then emptied the trash...
Is there any way to download just iphoto from the apple websight?
What's the easiest way to re-install the application?
Any advice would be appreciated...
thanks.

Is there a way I can re-install only iPhoto from my old software discs without having to reinstall the entire OS?
If you have your computer's original disks or a Mac OS X 10.3 or earlier install disk, use Pacifist to extract iPhoto from it. If not, no.
Mac OS X 10.4 and newer retail packages don't include any version of iPhoto.

  • Accidentally trashed iPhoto Library - how to remake

    Hi,
I have a user who accidentally trashed her iPhoto Library and emptied the bin.
With the tool Photorec I am in the progress of finding all jpg on the disk system - it takes a lot of time and it is not finished yet. So far more that 85.000 files with the file type "jpg" has been found.
The good news is that a whole lot of deleted images from her iPhoto Library is showing up.
My question is: Since the iPhoto database consist of different sizes of the same picture I can see, from the files retrieved so far, that I will need some way to filter the original large jpg file from all the smaller dublets, face recognition files and other.
Any one know of a way to do this the easy way?
    Best regards
    Peter

Some duplicate detection applications can recognize duplicates in different sizes.
If Terence Devlin's recommendation of sorting according to size does not weed out all duplicates, you might try one of these helpers.

  • Can anybody help? Accidentally trashed iphoto library, emptied trash!

Can anybody help? Accidentally trashed iphoto library, emptied trash!

Obvious question I know, but do you have a back up?
There is no way to recover an intact iPhoto Library once it's deleted. The best you can hop for is togged bak the photos. Try a app like File Salvage - you can download a free trial and it will scan the disk for you and tell you with might be recoverable. Actual recovery will require that you purchase the app. There may be many files with the same or similar names. Always recover the largest file size.
There are other such apps. Search on Macupdate or the App Store

  • OMG, I accidentally deleted my iPhoto and emptied the trash, is there any way to get it back?

Please help! I'm having a heart attack right now, I accidentally deleted my iPhoto that has hundreds of pictures and I have already emptied the trash, please tell me if there is any way I can get it back?

If you have not backed it up, then your only option is to stop using the computer immediately, as further use will risk writting over the sectors of your HDD, and make it difficult to recover.
Now the recovery process is long, and expensive, and your files may not be in any particular order. There may be millions of files to sift through.
You would need to use a program like Data Rescue 3, and pull out your HDD, and plug it as an external into another machine.
Or you could spend thousands having it done professionally.
For "hundreds", is it worth it?

  • Accidentally merged all iPhoto events. How do I get my event data back?

I accidentally merged my iPhoto events all into one event. I'm using iPhoto 11 on Yosemite. My problem is, my last backup to my external hard drive was in April 2014 (I know, my fault). Is there a way to restore the events? I notice in the metadata there are event files that date up to April 2014. Can I use these to restore the events? I realize I might not be able to get the events from April 2014 onward restored. But is there a way to at least restore the events created prior to April 2014?
I'm not really sure how all the metadata and backup files work so any help is appreciated.

Well no one has ever found a way.
Try rebuild with iPhoto Library manager.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Log into the app store using the Apple ID you used to set your computer up. Look under purchases. If it is not there you may need to accept it or to unhide it

  • My trash in iPhoto has no thumbnails in it, however, it says it has over 31k photos.  I had over 67K, but "put back" what thumbnails I could see in order to move them over in smaller groups to delete.  How can I delete what isn't there?

My trash in iPhoto has no thumbnails in it, however, it says I have over 31K photos in it.  I have already "put back" over 35K photos to Events.  How can I delete from iPhoto photos that are not in a thumbnail?  Also, I have been deleting these for over a year assuming that they were being deleted when I put them in the trash.  I didn't realize that there was an iPhoto trash along with my computer trash.  I can't put the other Events into the trash until I erase what's in there. Thank you for any help  you can give me.

You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

Recently, there has been a bug on my Mac OS X Lion, while trashing an iphoto the errant pic does not go to trash bin, but simply disappears! Which makes it impossible to change my mind. The trash remains empty, yet the pic is gone, and I never even emptied the trash (because it never made it to the trash)! How to recover the album I just accidently made disappear in this way?

Sorry - there have been no updates to that system for a long time
Try to backup your iPhoto library and lanch iPhoto while holding the option and cannoned keys down - repair permissions and if needed rebuild the database

  • Unable to empty the Trash in iPhoto.

I'm unable to empty the Trash in iPhoto.  I have uploaded all my photos to iPhotos and then deleted any duplicates.  Consequently I have 33,000 photos in the trash but every time I select 'Empty Trash', the iPhoto app crashes.  Any Ideas?

iPhoto has a big problem, if the Trash is too full. Put only small numbers of photos in the trash, to delete at once.
To solve this, put the images back into an event, and trash them again, in smaller installments, no more than 1000 images at a time.
The question is, how to remove them from the trash, without having to track them down again - if you use the "Put Back" command, all photos will be restored to their projects. I'd suggest you create a new project "MyTrash" and add a new image to it, so that this project will appear as the current "Recent Project". Drag your images from the Trash to this recent project; leave only 1000 or less images in the trash; then try to empty trash. If this succeeds, continue to trash images from the "My Trash" project, until all are gone. You might wish to empty the system Trash in between.

  • Can't open trash in iPhoto '08

Hi. I'm new to this and can't find the answer to my problem.
I have 866 photos in the trash and I have to retrieve some of them. But every time I highlight "Trash," the multi-colored spinning icon appears and won't go away. I have to "force quit" every time.
Any suggestions on how to see what's in trash, delete what I don't need and save the rest?
I, too, recently downloaded iPhoto '08.
    Thanks very much.

have you repaired permissions? do that and if it does not help trash the iPhoto preferences file and see if that does it

  • Remove pics from trash in iphoto

Hi i have moved all my pics and albums to an external hard drive to free up some space, but they still remain(over 8000) in the trash in iphoto, not in the trash on applications, how can iremove these as it is still taking time when i click on iphoto to load up, which was the whole point to begin with.

What version of iPhoto and system are you running?
Have you tried to empty the iPhoto Trash bin?
Note:  iPhoto is known for crashing when trying to delete large numbers of photos at one time.  But give it a try.
i have moved all my pics and albums to an external hard drive to free up some space,
    How did you do this?
Have you considered moving your iPhoto library to the EHD and running it from there? That way you could keep all of your photos in the library.

  • Accidentally trashed mailplist for builtin account types

    Hi
I accidentally trashed the plist file from /library/mail/account types/.com.builtin.mail accounts.
I believe this file is required for automatically setting up email accounts in mail can anyone please tell me how to get the plist file without doing a reinstall.

You are correct as to that the file is required for automatically setting up mail accounts. Here is how to get it back.
    1. Download a copy of Pacifist from http://www.charlessoft.com/
    2. Open Pacifist
    3. Insert your Leopard Install Disc, and click open Apple Install Disks and select the DVD you inserted
    4. After it loads, use the search bar to search for the missing file (typing com.apple.builtin will find it).
    5. Click install in upper left corner and type your password.
That's it! The file has been replaced! And if you were running Time Machine, imagine how much easier that would have been! Hope this works for you!

  • Full trash emptying, iPhoto '11

    Hi!
I have the issue with the trash of iPhoto '11. I have removed all photos from its trash and now it is showing me that trash contains 1 photo. I empty the trash one more time, but it is no effect.
How can I force deleting 1 photo? iPhoto can not show me this photo, but it say, that it is.

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
