Ugly black search background

When I use the google search bar in the top right, I get a dropdown with search results appear, with a black background. I hate it, and I don't remember it always being there - how do I get rid of it?
Thanks!

Hi,
From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Security tab. Click: Show Cookies
Delete all Google cookies.
Quit Safari (Command + Q) Relaunch Safari.
If that doesn't help, empty the Safari cache from the menu bar or press Command + Option + E on your keyboard.

  • Ugly black background in Mission Control

How can I change the ugly black background in Mission Control?  On my 27" screen it looks bad and reflects too much.

    Hi,
    My Normal Settings are.
    Left  gives me Dashboard.
Right  is normally iTunes in Full Screen Mode.
I run Messages with 8 or 9 individual Buddy Lists open as well as the Chat/Interface Main window.
If I set  the main Messages window to Full Screen then it will do so but the Buddy lists remain on the "central" screen (Space?).
The Main window has moved to the right.
If  go to look at Messages and then use the Dock > Mission Control icon the Messages app is still on view.
    EDIT
Or it was when I tested this first and made me wonder if this was what you meant by "background"
I repeated this to take a snap shot  and can only get my Desktop as the Background whilst the Dashboard, Desktop space and Messages spaces show across the top.
During the initial process I did change some things in the Messages > Preferences > Accounts.
I had spotted two were not Logged in and I also changed the Descriptions for them.

  • How to print Adobe Forms without the black/gray backgrounds in the side columns

How can we print Adobe Forms without the black/gray backgrounds in the side columns? We are wasting a lot of ink printing out these forms and would like to have simply black ilnes to distinguish columns and black lettering, but no background colors.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am not positive what you are printing from but I am thinking it is from the View Responses tab with a response row selected and then shown in "Detail View" and that the column of field names has a dark grey background...
To change the color of the column headers select the row of headers (do this by clicking on the first dark grey header field and then scroll to the last one and shift+click on the last one), then in the "Text" tools change the text color to Black and the Fill color to white:
    (Selected the header cells)
Changed the text/font color to black and the fill color to white
Now you can see the detail view does not have the dark grey.
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • Officejet 6500: All print jobs (except copies) come out with black smudged background. Fixes?

I have an Officejet 6500.:  All print jobs (except copies) come out with dark black smudged background and the text is also smudged.  Any suggestions?  Thx

FYI, for Black not printing on OJ 6500 ...
If the printer is out of warranty it may be worth following the suggestion in this post re. soaking the Printhead. Note it's important to switch the printer off at the Power button rather than just plugging out at the wall (as otherwise the Printhead won't get capped properly and may dry out)

    Hi Sardini,
The GPU FAQ clearly talks that the GPU features cant work same as on the virtual drivers like the physcial machine which is why you see the redraw.
Feel free to read the link below which talks about the same.

    I use Xcode for that.
The official, open-source answer would be to download the source to Eclipse and fix it yourself. If you ask in the Eclipse forums, you might find a better response than that however. Here on the Apple forums, you aren't likely to find much Eclipse expertise.

  • Ugly black spots with open tabs

I recently purchased a used Powerbook that came with Safari 2.0.3 and OS 10.4.6 installed. I noticed that when I open a tab in Safari, ugly black spots appear in the address bar in the spaces between each button or field in the bar. It looks terible andd is very distracting. Does anyone know the cause of this? Better can, can someone tell me how to fix it?

Thanks for uploading the image. Thanks also to Eme for the link - I didn't know this site existed. I have to come out of my computer cave more often.
Haven't seen this type of screen "blemish" in Safari. Not sure if your problem is related specifically to the drawing of the menu bar icons? You may have to reinstall Safari. Before you go down that path, consider installing a customized icon set via Safaricon. This 3rd party app. offers customized Safari icon sets which are much more pleasing to the eye than Safari's default set. Curious if that would remedy the problem?

  • Yosemite unable to show solid black as background color

    Hi,
After I updated my yosemite to 10.10.2 I am unable to show solid black as my background color. I have external screen where I have solid black as background. But my MacBook color is Gray compare to that.
    Any solutions?

Don't know, but just for the heck of it, you might try changing one of them to something else, first, then setting them that way. It may just simply not allow you to set both to the same color at the same time (just a WAG).

alright. reformat, no longer have and fan-controlling software running, SMC reset, software update, etc. New, precise test using System Load to add a load to the cpu, Hardware Monitor for the temperatures, and TFMonitor for fan speeds. Running both CPUs at 99.5%*, the CPU fan sped up to just over 1500 rpm (HDD and ODD fans stayed relatively the same), from its resting 1198, with the temperatures maxing out at:
    PSU: 176°F (80°C)
    CPU Core 1: 164°F (74°C)
    CPU Core 2: 171°F (77°C)
System Load and Hardware Monitor (or Temperature monitor) are from: http://ciderhouse.ivory.ne.jp/wp/english/
and TF monitor is from: http://ciderhouse.ivory.ne.jp/wp/english/
Now, to someone with more experience than I, are these numbers within reasonable operating range? And if the CPU fan can go as high as 3300 rpm, why would it not go any higher than half that? (smcFanControl reported 3300 as the max before I reformatted, but after reformatting I can't seem to get it to work)
It just doesn't make sense to me. ....and I'm not fond of the heat radiating off the monitor...
*I tested it up at almost 100% because with the work I do, I often do run around there. From time to time I do 3D renders and video work, and Photoshop almost never closes on my computer.

  • Firefox shows an ugly black screen between each transiton of my slideshows

I created two slideshows on two different web pages a few months ago. They displayed well on firefox, chrome and IE browsers at the time I built them.
But now suddenly the firefox browser is displaying an ugly black screen moment between each transition of the slides in the show.
Chrome and IE are still showing the slideshow correctly.
Why is it wrong on Firefox only? How can I fix this?
    View the slideshow here:
    http://www.theboatshed.net.nz/

I removed the slideshow from the boatshed site as it looked too awful to leave it there. I left the one on my own web site where you can still see the problem. You can also see the problem on the demo shows on the site that makes the software. I
    bet they're pretty annoyed.
Here it is on my site:
    http://www.tuiscope.co.nz/pagefiles/familyxmas11.html
But remember the problem only shows in Firefox.

  • How do I show links in the browser when they are hidden when I choose a black/dark background? Screenshot can be provided.

Hi, I'm trying to personalize my computer with the Classic Terminal look (Black Background with Bright Green text). However, everytime I use a Black Background, many web elements (like hyperlinks, or guides, and one time Steam Codes) would be hidden, not even border outlines. I've tried going into firefox's appearance settings and changing it to have my colors instead of the Site's colors, but to no avail. This is an example: http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/b38c86b329a7395d3c1e6394900cefdc The Dark area in between the chatbox and the top of the screen looks non existent of the navigation bar.

If you override background colors and background images and use the !important flag then you can get a lot of problems.<br />
There are also web pages that only set a text color or a background color and assume that you have 'regular' default settings.<br />
so be cautious with forcing your own colors on web page.

  • Black page background flashes grey when zooming on images

When I'm previewing my book on iPad I see that when I zoom in on an image (single image gallery widget) the page background which is black flashes grey momentarily. This happens on ipad but not when I preview on the mac.
Seems like the page wants to revert to the default white background everytime I click an image widget. Any way to set a book wide black background color? I currently create the page background colour by placing a black rectangle object in the background.
    Thanks anyone for any tips!

It seems there's a default setting when zooming on images that fades the background from white to black (I guess Apple is presuming all pages are white)? Anyone who have pages with colour background notice this?

  • IPhoto adds ugly black border around imported screen grabs

When I grab a picture of an application screen (using cmd + shift + 4 and then hitting the space bar over the application), I get a screen grab that opens fine in Preview, but when I drag/import it to iPhoto, it adds an ugly thick black border around the whole picture. Why? Is there any way to stop this from happening?

    Old Toad wrote:
Missed the Command....... I have used that command and don't get the border except when viewing the file as an thumbnail in the Finder.
Do you have a MMe account? If so upload the screenshot file to the Pictures folder and use the following code to add it to a post:
You'll get this: Click to View Photo. It's a screenshot of the screenshot and it's presentation in Safari.
So, I can see immediately from the photo in the link above that you have not used the key combi I am talking about - was that intentional?
Anyway, here's the link, and you can quite clearly see the drop shadow.

  • Removing black gradient background in new Revolution theme

I've got a project I'm working on where I want to have my own background image applied to the Revolution theme. However, the black gradient covers up most of my background image. How do I get rid of that? I've looked everywhere for that graphic or that code. Anyone?

I would like to remove the background too, since it creates a black haze over everything. I was able to brighten up the background a bit by dropping a white 853 x 480 .png file into the background. The rotating drop boxes show up better, but still not bright like the theme thumbnails.
The coal dust look seems to be a transparent screen in the foreground. Makes the whole effect morose.
Where you able to find a cure? Usually themes are very customizable. If you come up with a fix please let me know.

  • SWF movie - initial ugly black frame, plus no loop?

    Mac 10.4.11 Golive CS
I have fotonette.swf (flv.movie) inserted into a Golive home page (see test  http://www.artdesign.org.uk/fotonette/pages/fotonette_swftest.html ) and the initial show is a momentary black (sometimes white as well) area matching the movie size.
I would like the movie to show the first image (frame) rather than the black area. Also it does not loop even though it is set to do so in the Inspector palette, which means I am left with a black area where the fotonette.swf should be looping or if not finishing and staying on the last frame would be good.
In case its relevant - how I made movie/slideshow.
1 - Original made in FotoMagico.
    2 - Saved as an fotonette.mov
3 - Dropped into Adobe Media Encoder and saved as a medium fotonette.flv
3 - Opened in Flash and change stage colour to grey 4D4E58 to match Golive page background colour
    4 - Exported from Flash as a fotonette.swf (wrapper)
5 - fotonette.flv and fotonette.swf sits in folder on the GoLive site

After much faffing about I managed to find a solution in Adobe Media Encoder settings button which has editing sliders. A bit tricky if you have a sound track, but allowing for it in the original build file (FotoMagico in my case) is how I did it. With a clean cache I still get a momentary white image area when the page is first loading, (something I may post again) but no black start and end frames.
