Ugly colors in InDesign but not in Illustrator

When I import a picture in InDesign the colors gets very wimpy (ugly and not so nice) but when I import the same picture in Illustrator the colors  is ok.
What can be the problem? I have not change the settings in InDesign
Thanks in advance!

Hi Bee
You can try this
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/creativesuite/cs/using/WS37C6D4EA-9407-4954-9A03-92735E070188. html#WSA0A53A1F-BF46-4624-82C6-340A70EFB8C4
It's sometimes a good idea to do this.
Others will tell you differently - but I think it meets your needs.
I'm sure some of the colour experts will be right along to give you a better overall way of setting up your colour profiles.

  • Why this script works in indesign but not in illustrator (cs5)?

Hallo, i would like someone to tell me if it is possible to make a script from indesign ( i am talking about the crop marks script )
    to work in illustrator?
It is very important to me, to make it work!
I would appreciate if someone could help me with this?

    ok, thank you!
So i have to ask from someone who knows scripting, to write it!
I have seen in many sites, very good scripts doing other thinks, and also i saw one that did exactly what i wanted
called  " Artboard_coords.app " but saddly was for mac.
Pleaase if someone has the time to write such a script, i would very much appreciate it, and i think
that it would be very usefull to many other designers too,  who works with digital printings,
and have to print cards and other stuff to laser printings.
Untill now i use the script from indesign.
i also made an action that almost do the job, but not very handy!

  • Some fonts work in InDesign but not Illustrator??

I don't know what started this, because things were working just fine a couple of months ago. But now there are 3 fonts in my system that are working as they should in InDesign but not in Illustrator. That is, on Illustrator's font menu, the font names aren't shown in their font as the other font names are, and each font name in error has brackets around it. I've tried deleting all my AdobeFnt files and restarting, resetting Illustrator preferences... I don't know what else to do. I'm on an iMac running OS 10.6.8. Any ideas? Please?

    MPS,
Did those 3 fonts work in Illy at any time?

  • Flattening annotations (comments) changes highlight color in Acrobat, but not Reader

I have a pdf document with multiple comments consisting of sentences highlighted with different colors. The colors are the default, bright colors in the default commenting "Highlighter Tool Properties" palette. When I flatten with either Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 or X (Tools - Print Production - Preflight - flatten annotations and form fields) the colors of the highlights change from the normal 'bright' colors to dull 'pantone'-like colors. Interestingly, if I view the flattened file with Reader, the colors are fine (back to the bright colors), but when viewing with Acrobat Pro they are the dull pantone colors. It is as if there is a 'flag' in the file telling Acrobat (but not Reader) to change the displayed highlight colors.
    I'm using Mac OS X 10.9.5
Does anyone know how I might change this so that the highlight colors do not change when flattening?
    Thanks

Well, I was able to answer my own question. You have to go into "Flattener Preview" and change "Color Space" from the default "none" to something else, in my case, "Device RGB". Also, make sure to set page range.

  • Color Management: Light image shows correct in Photoshop, but not in Illustrator

Have a light cyan (13% dot max gradient piping the text) emboss letters spot channel .psd placed in AI. In Photoshop the image shows up great, but in Illustrator is notvisible (goes to white).
Color profile is good & generated with hardware device i1Profiler
Same color settings in both AI & PS-  North Amercian General Purpose in both
Assign profile tried both  Working CMYK US WEB v2 & don't color manage
    Illustrator (left) Photoshop (right)

Figured it out. Happening because this is spot channel. For my purpose am creating a renders of a package, so converted the spot channel to CMYK.
Illustrator for as long as I can remeber has nto worked perfectly with spot chanels, the colros are off in Illustraor, and when you print a fiery they are off. Only solution I found to keep a spot cahnel intack, is to add a dummy white channel in the layers palette for the sahpe of the spot channel. While this works great with spot chanenls that are built without tints, nto so well in a cse liek the one above.
Kow I am not the only one to have discovered the dummy white trick, as printers such as SGS are using this. Can anyone offer any more insight into why we have to use a dummy white layers, and how to keep a spot channel intack on files like this one with the light tinted gradation???

  • Why is "internet" flagged as miss-spelling in Indesign but not auto-corrected?

when the entire support system for Indesign exists on the internet, why is this word not recognised by the Indesign inbuilt dictionary?
Further, I have auto-correct set to ON!  Yet it's not correcting this to whatever it assumes is the correct spelling.  Given that the listed suggestions when middle tapping are "Internet" or "INTERNET" why is it not auto-correcting to one of these?  It's not like it could be some other word I'm trying to type.

I'm guilty of being a little "new school" in this regards. I type a lot, mostly explaining stuff and demonstrating stuff, and illustrating points and ideas, thoughts and concepts, structures and paradigms of approaches and **** like that.  Really utter nonsense, more than anything... and I utterly rely on spell check auto-correct.  I actually use it much more like an Auto-Complete than autocorrect.  Such is my reliance on it.
There's a certain joy to structuring words to a space, that's part of a design vanity and aesthetic that means little to few.  But those times that I've used that approach in Indesign I'm stuck wondering how my spelling is doing.  Because my spelling, mostly, sucks.
It would be REALLY nice, to have an option, apart from these other options, to use the OS (in this case Mac OS X) spell check throughout Indesign, in addition to the and concurrent with the custom library of personal spell corrections.  In this manner it could be like Microsoft word, in the sense that the auto-correct of Indesign can be used like a "macro" and the OS auto-correct (which I've trained heavily to my words and way of expressing myself) can be running "as normal".
I find it a little strange that a layout program doesn't have this ability to use the host OS's spell check, because I can't be the only designer that's both using the layout features of Indesign and generating the content that goes into that layout.  And it's completely undesirable to be swapping between a word processor, or even the inbuilt editor of Indesign, when I would much rather see my words go where they're going to be, live, and auto-corrected in whatever manner I choose.
But, there you go.  My two cents on something it appears nobody else cares about, thinks about or works like.
As to programming, yes, I fully understand, the words and phrases and keywords from that... you'd need a while to train word processor style environment to deal with that.  I have often wondered why code editors don't learn from the auto-completes of word processors, and vice-versa.
I really like the way Xcode does Objective-C suggestive completion, for example.  That's unbelievably fantastic, particularly for someone like me that knows very little programming and even less of Foundation and CocoaTouch etc.  I don't have to keep going back to the docs, just need to start with the first few letters of the method/class and go from there... it's basically helping me write the line from there.
Imagine a word processor like that...

  • PDF layers can be displayed in Acrobat but not in Illustrator?

I created a PDF file using a genome analysis software, and through Acrobat, I confirmed the layout was fine. However, when I opened it in illustrator to try to edit it, it appears that the layer containing the data dots was stripped away. Do you know why it happens? Thanks!

As I wrote the color fill for these paths were set to none there are many paths that make up the rules you have to find them all and lock them in order to be able to select the objects you want to show as well as the light blue filled rectangle paths.

  • 8.1.5; why are .png colors inverted automatically but not .bmp?

    Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.5
When using PDF creator to convert image files to pdf's; scanned images (from blueprints) with black backgrounds and white text/lines:
if file type = .png colors are automatically inverted. (white background black text/lines)
if file type = .bmp, colors are not inverted.
    Why is this?
Is there a way to invert colors for .bmp?
    Thanks.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions?  I work at a firm where Photoshop is not available so this is not an
    option.
    Thank you!

  • Is there any official way to download CS version of InDesign but not the CC version?

It can only download the CC version now, is there any way to download the CS version software from Adobe?
And, another question is that what the effect to the developed plug-ins is when updating from CS to CC?
    Thanks a lot.

  • Black ink not printing but not empty

My HP ENVY 5530 all in one printer is not printing black. I have checked the in level and it is 2/3rd's full. When I print a page, the color comes out but not the black. I have cleaned the printhead multiple times and when it prints the test page, all the colors come out but no black. The printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet.  I am very frustrated since this is a relatively new printer with both original ink cartridges.

Hello,  Since you have tried performing the Clean Printhead multiple times and the issue still exists, it seems to be an issue with the printing module/ printhead.  You might try with a new Black Cartridge and check if the issue could be resolved.Else, its time to get the printer replaced / serviced. Please call HP Tech Support for further assistance.

InDesign CS6 is not optimized for retina displays. You’ll need to move to Creative Cloud for retina compatibility.

  • File present in InDesign CC not found in Illustrator

Lately, when I've selected an .ai or .eps file to edit in InDesign CC (Links panel>pencil icon), the file doesn't open in Illustrator CC. Illustrator CC opens and then claims that the "File not found", which requires me to go to File>Open... in Illustrator CC to bring that file up for editing. (This is an effective but dumb workaround.)
I have no problems with Photoshop files. InDesign CC opens them in Photoshop CC.
The Links panel in InDesign does not indicate a broken link. (No yellow ! triangle or red ? circle.)
    What's broken?

Solved. This was a network vs. local file system issue. I'll talk to our IT guys.

  • Trying to book ACE exam for Indesign CC - but not available

Why is an ACE exam for Indesign CC not available and when will it be? I have been trying to book it via Pearson Vue for some time but no luck. Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Dreamweaver are all available as ACE exams for CS6 and CC but no Indesign. Are you dropping Indesign from the ACE curriculums?

    Thanks Rajshree
The link you posted directs to the CS6 exam, I was wondering why CC isn't available for Indesign (but is for other softwares). I have already contacted Pearson Vue and they said that Adobe hasn't supplied them with any Indesign CC exam and to contact Adobe regarding why.
I tried to contact Adobe but they said that they could only offer software support and didn't have info about the ACE process.
I'm thinking this is a dead end.
Thanks again for your reply thou
