  • Upgraded to Mountain Lion, lost my Calendars

I've just upgraded to Mountain Lion from Lion, and had several Calendars set up on my system, as well as some that are attached to Google Calendars. They also all synced to my iPhone 3G perfectly, so there was no issues if I ever added entries to one or the other, as they always transfered during my iPhone sync through iTunes.
When going through the initial install of Mountain Lion I added the options for iCloud. Now, when I look at Calendars it only includes those synced with Google Calendars. The Cloud seems to have lost my regular calendars. I tried turning the Cloud settings on and off, which somehow managed to find two of my many different calendars, which I thought was a bit odd as they should all be the same technically.
I then tried to sync my iPhone to the Mac, to see if it would pull all the calendars over so everything would be as before. I have all the options ticked on iTunes for this to happen, but it doesn't. I've tried it with the Cloud on and off, as I know that my 3G isn't compatible with Cloud services, but it makes no difference.
I use these calendars a lot and could really use some help if anyone has a suggestion. They are still safe on my iPhone for now, but it's not a very nice UI to use in comparison.

  • Mountain Lion thinks camera is a "package"

So bought latest MBP 13" when it came out. Worked fine. Got my free upgrade to Mountain Lion and installed it.
Nnder lion, when I connected my panasonic video camera I could go to finder, browse the camera (it appeared as a disk) and I could copy my video files over and preprocess them using ClipWrap (AVCHD->MOV) and import them to iMovie.
Under mountain lion, the file system of the camera is not dirtectly visible. It sees the folders as "packages". I found I can still access the files, but I have to right click and choose "show package contents" to navigate to the files on the camera in finder.
    Any body else? Ideas?

Apple uses packages to keep people from tampering with things in folders that aren't meant to be tampered with.
In the case of a camera, if you start renaming files or moving them around, the camera might not be able to access the images anymore (depends on the camera). You sound like you know what you're doing, but I guarantee you if my mother got a look at her camera disk, she would start renaming files, deleting XML files, etc. And I once had to help someone who had decided to "organize" her iPhoto library folder (Apple has since turned that into a package too).
The basic idea is that a novice user like my mother will have her files protected and access everything using iPhoto or other software, but a "power user" like you will know to right-click to retain the same access that you had before. It's the best of both worlds, if you don't mind the extra click.
You can actually change any old folder into a package - just add ".pkg" to the name of the folder. To change it back into a folder, remove the ".pkg" - though I don't recommend trying that on your camera.

  • Old Lion Finder bug reappears in Mountain Lion -- lost options

There were a number of problems with the Finder View options under Lion which were fixed bit-by-by, upgrade-by-upgrade.
In general, folder placement was scrambled and view options were lost/reset after certain operations.
Now, with Mountain Lion, some of these problems have resurfaced:
-- I use Show View Options to increase the size of icons and to set the background of a folder to a color
-- I use Mail to attach a file from this folder via the Attach window
When I return to the folder after sending my Mail message, icon size and background color have been reset to default.
In Lion, the Always Show in Icon View option was also reset.
So far this hasn't happened in Mountain Lion.
    Anyone else haveing this problem?

I tried and don't see any issues. When you say the "Attach" window, what does that mean? Do you mean the "Share" contextual submenu or button (or does it translate to "attach" from another localization)?
If it is something other than Share submenu, then is that a third-party program that provides that function?
You might consider deleting the .DS_Store file from that folder. Various utilities can remove them, like OnyX, or you can use the Terminal.

  • Mountain Lion Messages and other iPhone and iPads not connecting

Just downloaded Mountain Lion and have been trying to connect with the family on their iPhones and iPads. On the messaging page, it shows that they are offline, but when I check their phones, it looks like everything is ok.
Also tried to connect via iChat and it would start the process and ring and pop up but when you tried to connect, it would totally disconnect.
I dont know why their devices are showing off line and not receiving messages notes that I am sending

  • Mac mini 2011 Radeon 6630 Mountain Lion- Lost Open CL and GPU computations etc

I had everything working in Lion, why did i bother upgrading. hehehe..
Any advice to get this working. Right now its greyed out in the performance settings. I lost Open CL and The option that helps the GPU with computations.
Is there any modifcations I can do to make it recognize the OpenCL. Apple pisses me off they never can just stick with a single OS long enough for all the software developers to support them.

Noel, thank you so much for responding. I have GPU Basic, advanced and normal. I just lost Open CL and Use graphics processor. I had it in Lion as I was part of the beta for Cs6 and complained and complained, they enabled it all. I think its a photoshop CS6 issue inside of mountain lion.
Any way to like use a setting to force photoshop to enable these settings.

  • Have Mountain Lion, Lost Sound

I downloaded and installed Mountain Lion overnight, and while the OS works, I've 'lost' my sound.  My volume bar is greyed out, and no matter what I try, my computer now produces no sound.

Have you tried a PRAM reset?

  • Mountain Lion Lost My Files

I have an iMac (21.5 inch) the newest one...its running Mac OS X 10.7.4...it is the fully loaded package, intel i7 processor, 16GB RAM, 1  256GB Solid State Drive, and 1  2TB ATA Drive...It came with 10.7.4 on the solid state...i downloaded my free copy of Mountain Lion onto my iMac, and put it on the 2 terabyte drive...i use my 2 terabtye for all my files...i am a dj so i use it for mainly music. the solid state has a few added programs and of course the operating system and thats all...when i booted up my imac after installing mountain lion, it booted to mountain lion, but none of my files were there??? so now whenever i turn on my imac i hold down the option key to tell it to boot from the solid state, so i can use and see my files...how to i transfer my files onto mountain lion w/o saving them on an external drive and copying them back onto the computer? am i able to copy mountain lion onto the solid state? i dont wanna erase anything on the computer and dont have any means of external storage...and im not gonna back it up onto the cloud, 2tb of cloud storage is to expensive (if they even offer that much)...any help???

I assume you can see the 2TB drive after booting into Lion? Also: when booted into ML, do you know where your files on the SSD drive are? Can you access them? If you can access your files on the SSD drive while booted into ML, you could just copy them over to the 2TB drive. If you can't access them while booted into ML, you could do the copying while booted into LIon and adjust access. Make sense?

  • Safari 6 in Mountain Lion lost window drop shadow

After I upgraded to Mountain Lion, I have a weird problem with Safari 6: the window does not have the drop shadow, and when the window is activated only the title of the Web page gets darker color in the top bar of the frame. It's a very annoying problem, since there is no visible frame if the Safari window is overlaid on top of another window with white background. This happens only on one user account and on one computer out of the four  that I upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion. I tried to figure out which preference setting controls that, but neither removing all preferences for Safari and starting from scratch, nor copying the Safari preferences from the library of another user account that is fine did help.
Perhaps somebody can tell me how is the coloring of Safari windows handled. Windows of all other  applications are fine -- it's just the Safari's window that gets the problem.

I bit the bullet and created a new account. I wanted to preserve account name, so I deleted the old one, but chose the option to leave the home folder intact (it was renamed to "userid (Deleted)"). Then I moved what I needed to the home folder of the new account. iCloud helped quite a bit, as I did not want to move any of the ~/Library content. VirtualBox VMs moved quite nicely with the use of File->Add. Dropbox took some time to sync, but Google Drive refused to reconnect to the folder; thank goodness I have gigabytes on the former, and just a few files on the latter. Time Machine is busy, of course, but... Mountain Lion looks like Mountain Lion now
It's been much faster than trying to fish around for the solution to the problem. Still, I am actually interested in discovering how exactly the windows are decorated on Mountain Lion. The developers of Mac themes must know, but I do not know any of them

  • HT204032 i just ugraded to mountain lion and option to cehck/uncheck power nap is not showing.

the option to check and uncheck power nap is not showing in my settings energy tab.
i just upgraded to mountain lion.
any special steps i need to so?

It's supported in Retina MacBook Pro and Mid 2011 or later MacBook Air and you have to install an update. If your computer isn't one of them, you can't enable this feature

  • Mountain Lion lost files after reboot!

Hi all. I really need help!
I am currently running Mountain Lion 10.8.3 on my mac book pro. For a long time I had the filtering software known as Safe Eyes installed on this machine. Today I uninstalled it using the correct route via admin login. After it uninstalled it asked to restart so I did a restart. When it booted back up it asked me for my apple ID, like it had never run before which I thought was a bit weird, and I skipped it. To my horrific surprise it factory reset! All of my pictures, music, movies, and important documents - gone!! What I had was the classic desktop with the default dock. The strange thing is that it kept all of my applications that I had downloaded and installed. Also, I have a second internal 500Gb HDD that didn't have anything missing after that.
If it is at all possible, please tell me how to get these files back!!!

    luke.un,
you can restore your missing files from your most recent backup. If you haven’t been making backups, you can hire a data recovery firm to see if they can get those files back — but note that their services tend to be expensive.

  • I lost my saved email file when I upgraded to Mountain Lion. How can I get it back?, I lost my saved email file when I upgraded to Mountain Lion. How can I get it back?

I lost my saved email file when I ugraded to Mountain Lion today.  How can I get it back?? It has email messages dating back several years.

do you have a time machine backup or any other device that contains the emails you are now missing?
if so you can get them back that way. otherwise there isn't a way to retrieve them from the mac if they are nowhere on the HD.
also check on the email website to see if the messages are still there as well.
