Uh oh! lost document

I have accumulated a spreadsheet of the hours I have worked on each project at my job this summer. I put the folder that this doc was located in, in the doc as a stack. (Not sure if I deleted the folder or not, but its no longer on the desktop) I go to open this document today after being on vaca for a couple of weeks while my computer was being used in another office for a presentation (they like the looks of these iMacs) and my document is not here. I spotlighted for it, nothing!
Anyway to recover any lost documents? Thanks!

Tyler,
Have you looked in the Numbers > File > Open Recent list? Chances are the people doing the presentation didn't use Numbers and the list may still be good.

  • How do I find a lost document created in Pages?

How do I find a lost document? Any doc I create on pages on my iPad I am unable to retrieve or edit again? iCloud seems to be installed and working fine? Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thank you.

I tap on the Pages icon and immediately will see the document I created and it literally vanishes off a second later and is nowhere to be found leaving me with only the 'Get Started' doc visible? It has happend to three seperate documents (my only documents). I use iCloud and it is set correctly to 'on' in Settings>Pages.
Thank you in advance for your help.

  • New to Macbook Pro--lost document i was typing on Pages?  Where did it go and how do I get it back?  I'm a wreck?   I've looked everwhere on this computer.  Are there backups on Pages?

I'm devastated because I apparently LOST a document I'd been working on for days on Pages.   Is it possible?   Are there backups in Pages?
Please any suggestions are most welcome.  Thank you.

I'm AKH1,   Pls, I would like to thank all of you who replied to my urgent plea for assistance in locating a lost document.
I DID find it thanks to all of YOU!  Thank you Thank you.    There are no words to tell how much I appreciate your taking the time to reply.
I am new to MAC and expect to experience 'speed bumps' but I'm a bit nervous after reading the experiences of so many with regard to Pages.
Given where I am in my career, I keep asking myself, wouldn't it be easier to put Microsoft Word on this Mac and simpify my life.  I guess I'm asking if you know of any downside to putting Microsoft Word on a MAC?
I will definetly check the forum.   Thank you all again.   When I can, I will always respond to questions as you have for me.  Thank you.

  • Lost Documents folder

While transferring the data from an older MacBook to a new MacBook Air using the backup on a Time Machine, I lost my "Documents" folder from the dock.  I then tried to click and move the "Documents" folder from the "Favorites" on the left side of the "Macintosh HD.  Now the "Documents" folder isn't visable in either place, and I can't find it.  I looked at an earlier discussion about a similar situation and tried some of the suggested things, but nothing seemed to work.  I think the documents might have ended up in the "Downloads" folder, but I'm not sure.  Any help would be appreciated.

Choose Home from the Finder's Go menu and drag it back from there. If it's in the Downloads folder, move it to the home folder first.

  • Can i recover a lost document in Pages in Icloud

Help, I had started working on a document and when i logged on to Icloud I had saw in the preview my notes that I took, once I double click on the document, it opened to a previous states where I had only a basic template. So I lost the majority of my document that I wrote in a meeting.
Can I go back to a previous version?
    Thanks

    Hello,
I am afraid that you can only recover the Site files (HTML, JS, CSS, Assets etc) from Business catalyst but not the .muse file. Also there is no way to convert those file to a .muse file.
Best practice is to always keep the backup of the muse file

  • Lost documents... Can i get them back?

    Hi Guys
I am hoping someone can help me and all is not lost.
I was using Illustrator CS5 on Windows, with a number of documents open when I had to leave  my office to deal with a screaming daughter. I was then a little distracted  before I managed to get back to my laptop. To my horror my laptop had installed  some updates and automatically restarted. And you guessed it my files were gone.  I know I know I should have been periodically saving them as I worked on them  and stupidly enough I had with one but not the others.
I quickly checked  the recycling bin to see if a back copy was there as I had heard that this is  sometimes the case. I did find one document that was modified at the correct  time and date but with some random name. I tried restoring it to find out what  it was and now have no idea where it has been restored to.
Where would  it be? Could this be the document I am looking for? If not can I get them  back?
Is there away via Illustrator to bring up recently unsaved documents? I know you can do this through recent documents in the File drop down menu but this only has documents that I saved in it. I know this is unlikely but I still have hope or should I say I am praying.
Please tell me there is hope.
    Thanks for your time.

No. When nothing was saved, there's nothing to restore - all your documents only ever existed in their modified state RAM, not on your harddrive and AI doesn't do auto-saves nor does it any longer produce crash recovery files as it did in older versions before CS or so. If there are any randomly named AI files, then they were produced by the operating system, but that mustn't mean they are actually usable. They could merely be memory dumps of the last active state, not structured data files. Hopeless case for the most part and before wasting time trying to search something that doesn't exist you better simply start over...

  • Lost document in copy-EDD icon doesn't show

I was working on two WP documents. Someone one document copied the other, and I lost the one I was working on. I can't undo it and get it back. Everything is lost. And I thought of my EDD, (external disk drive). But my EDD icon doesn't lit up for OS X. Did something happen to it? Or do I have to go back to Apple to get that one document back to extract, since I can't get extract from one computer to another?

    Hi Kristen,
If you had two documents and you replaced one document with the other than your chances of recovering the original document are very slim at best. There is no Apple program that could retrieve it. It is possible, but unlikely that a program like Data Rescue from Prosoft Engineering might be able to recover it but I doubt it. There are professional companies like Drive Savers that probably could recover it but they are very very expensive. Your chances of recover are best if you use your computer as little as possible.
What program did you use to create the documents?

  • Pages - lost documents

How can I get all documents in Pages that were lost when I transferred from old iPad to my new iPad Air?  I backed up from old iPad then did a restore to get new iPad Air set up.  Initially the documents remained n the old iPad so I deleted them before I checked to see if they existed on the iPad Air, they weren't there. I tried to get them back by performing a restore from my laptop back to the old iPad but nothing happened. Have I lost the documents for good?

Thanks Jim. The documents were not in iCloud. The Pages icon had the word "beta" written across it. Do you know what this means?  As you can see I am not very good with this but I'm learning

  • Restore a lost document in pages

I lost my document in pages- GONE! trying to save but failed to save then the whole document was gone- ERROR.
how do Irestore the previous document ?

    Rojo,
If the document was never properly saved, and pages has now been closed, there is no guaranteed way to recover the content. You may be able to poke around and find some fragments of text in system files pertaining to your document, but it's not a sure thing, probably unlikely.
My advice is that the next time you begin to write something that you don't want to lose, Save before you type the first word of text. Then Command-S at the end of every important idea, or point, as you go - at least every 5 minutes. It's easier to develop a habit of saving frequently than to try to remember to save every so many minutes.

  • Help! lost document

hi, I just experienced a forced close of Adobe reader and I have lost the document I was working on. Can anyone tell me if I can recover it? It is one of those digital forms you can save data into

Was that a local document, or a document that you opened directly from a website or email attachment?
If it was a local document, then it should still be in the original location.
If it was an online document or email attachment, then it may be found in your browser's or email client's temp folders.

  • Retriving lost document information

This is the second time this happened to me, and I had to go to my EDD. I don't know why this happened. I went to my novel today and couldn't open it. I get a message saying can't find user dictionary. Then I tried again and got a message saying can't find hyphenation dictionary. I closed my previous document and saved it. I restarted my Imac and went back. Only it opened and copied what was on the previous document, deleting all of my story. I was able to go to my EDD to get what I saved onto that two weeks ago, but 13 pages are lost. Should I get Iwork and dump Appleworks? Why am I getting those messages now when I was able to get to that WP document fine before?

    Hello, Kristen,
    1. To check for hard drive or hardware problems:
    • Startup from the Apple Hardware Test disc which shipped with your machine and run the tests to see what results are returned.
    • Launch Disk Utility -- it is in Applications --> Utilities folder. Click on the very top hard drive icon in the column on the left. It may have numbers and letters in its name. Then at the bottom of the window see if S.M.A.R.T. Status is Verified. If so, this tells you that the hard drive mechanism is functioning normally at this time.
    2. To check for operating system problems:
    • After checking the S.M.A.R.T. Status, click on the indented icon under the top one. It will have a name -- maybe Macintosh HD. Click the button to Repair Disk Permissions.
    • Go to this link --> Using Disk Utility and fsck to resolve startup issues or perform disk maintenance -- and scroll down to the section titled Try Disk Utility and follow the steps listed there in order to Repair the disk.
    • DiskWarrior is a commercial repair utility sold by Alsoft. It is not already installed.

  • Lost Document(s)

    Good evening,
We're using Reader for Android, and specific acrobat.com within the reader.  We lost a document yesterday and another one today.  The file works well for a while, but after exiting back and attempting to reopen it, it shows as a "0 bites" file size and won't open either through the Reader app or through the acrobat.com website on a PC.
I saw similar issues from another user (JohannaSB Jul 30, 2014 2:44 PM), but the answers they received were already steps we were using.
This issue is occurring more and more frequently, and we've lost a considerable amount of work.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a little more information on the problem.  It is continuing to occur with multiple files (different file names, sizes, etc) when using Reader for andriod and specifically acrobat.com within Reader.  We're opening and saving the file (different file each day) to Acrobat.com (let's call this "1st file") after each comment is made on the document with the pen tool.  We are also opening a couple additional PDF files from Dropbox (into documents) and emailing the them out with comments.  Opening (and subsequently deleting the additional files) does not appear to recreate the issue.  Just to note, they aren't deleting the 1st file, only the subsequent files being opened after the 1st one.  The only tool being used in Andriod reader is the pen tool.  Some of the additional files contain check boxes, a submit button, a reset button, calculations, etc.  We're continuing to try to narrow down what tool/feature could be causing the issue with the 1st file.
