UIACONFIG & Inventory only agent.

Does anyone have any idea on how to get the proper uiaconfig.xml file into the packaged inventory only agent. The problem is that when the agent runs it has a blank file and doesn't report back. I would think this would kind of be a default that I am missing, but if not the answer may be just to create a custom MSI that runs.
The reason for this, is that in our environment we want the ability to push the inventory agent out via login script to get all workstations during our ongoing deployment of the full ZCM agent.

    Hi: Someone has installed the inventory only 11.2.3a on AIX 7.1?
    Is supported? I saw in the documentation of 11.2 which is only supported on AIX 6.1...

    I note subject includes "11.2.3" - presumably you're aware that was
    pulled and we're awaiting 11.2.3a?
    I'm also guessing that by "10.8" you don't mean 10.8.0 so which version
    of 10.8 are you testing? 10.8.x
    Are you hosting ZENworks on Windows Server or Linux? I don't think it
    matters but I can test against ZENworks on Linux.

  • Remotely installing the Inventory Only Module

    Version 11.3
    I want to install the inventory only module to multiple windows devices. The only documentation I can find states you have to download the agent and install at the windows device. https://www.novell.com/documentation...deployment.pdf. Is there a way to install this module using the ZENworks console? I can't seem to find it. Deployment task is only set to to install the ZENworks Adaptive Agent.
    Thanks,
    Bill

    I also like to point out that the Discovery tool is not designed to be
    the only way or even necessarily the main way of pushing agents.
    Login Scripts, AD Scripts, or any other management tool can push the
    agents (If you don't have any management tools, you should be
    considering the full product.)
    Even a Scripted PSEXEC would work for you, but only in theory.
    The issue is that by default, Non-Domain Joined PCs will not permit
    remote software installation unless you perform quite a bit of manual
    configuration. So if your PCs are not in a domain and you have no
    management tools, you will need to visit the PC to manually configure it
    to allow a remote push at a future time that you hope the PC may be
    powered on and not in use. So if you are going to do all that work, it
    would only make sense to install the agent while you are there at that time.
    In my mind, the Discovery and Deployment tool is best for discovering
    straggler devices missing the agent and less at deploying since there
    are so many limitations due to the very nature of basic default Windows
    security.
    The best bet in my mind is to try and figure out a way to use your
    current management methods, even if they are as simple as logon scripts,
    to push/pull down the agent instead of trying to remotely access the PC
    in the hopes it is on, since that method has a whole series of hurdles
    that are tough to overcome.

  • Inventory Only vs. Managed

    I want to Inventory our Servers (100+). We have ZCM10 with the Asset Mgmt module added. We have 1 Zone, but we have a Satellite office that has it's own servers that they will Inventory. Of course we also have workstations that will be fully managed at each site as well.
    I put the Inventory only client on a Windows server and it shows up under Devices/Servers on the Inventoried tab. Looks good.
    Now I want to configure the Inventory policies - in particular when my servers at my location get scanned and what the Data Collection Form looks like. I can set this at the top Zone level under Configuration, Inventory but that will affect all Servers, Workstations, etc. I can set it at the Devices, Managed, Servers level but these are Inventoried Only not Managed. There is no Settings - Inventory tab for Inventoried Only.
    How can I separate Inventoried Only Servers out and apply Inventory policies only to those.

  • Cisco AQM 8.5 Recording on way only : Agent voice not recorded

    Dear Networkers,
    We do have UCCX 8.5 with AQM 8.5. SR2ES1 installed.
    Calls are being recored. The isue is that when paying back the records, we only hear the client's voice. the Agent's voice is not heard !
    We checked the .raw files durig calls test, we can see the TO and FROM files size growing together. I couln't find the source of the issue, couldn't find an error message also !
    Can you please advise ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards.

    Dear all,
    Thank a lots for your responses.
    In fact, we're using desktop recording with Cisco IP Communicator. We're not using hard IP Phones.
    Please find below informations
    CUCM version : 8.0.2.40000-1
    Cisco JTAPI version 8.0(2.10000)-3 Release
    UCCX version 8.5
    We tried making test calls and taking packet capture on the agent PC. RTP streams are ok.
    We're looking in the c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\QM\recordings\daily folder and we can see the .TO and .From files size growing during the communications.As far as I know, these files are used by QM recording application. Then they are converted to a .wav file, then the record is uploaded to the QM Server.
    It's a new installation, and it never worked for this installation. The configuration is ok from QM Side.
    Any advice please ? I am really confused.

  • Read-only agent synching to a Data Guard physical standby?

    Hi all,
    we are trying to use TimesTen 11.2.2.4.1 as a read-only memory cache for an Oracle 11.2.3.0.7 schema on Linus RedHat 6.3, while using Oracle Data Guard to replicate the Oracle instance over geographically remote sites. On each site we would like to have two TT instances synchronizing with the local Oracle 11g instance. This works fine against the master DB, but are the TT agents going to be able to synchronize against physical standby instances?
    The problem it seems is that the TT agent uses dedicated structures in the Oracle master instance (related to the cache grid), which are going to be replicated into the standby instances. Is  the TT agent able to use the read-only, replicated structures to complete synchronization, or is this approach unworkable? What would be your advise as how to achieve this?
    Thanks for your help,
    Chris

    Hi again,
    so after testing a little bit it appears that this approach works indeed, at least against a limited number of manual DML operations. What I needed to do on the slave instance to have it working is the following:
    1 - Entirely exclude TTADMIN and TIMESTEN schemas from the Data Guard replication:
    ALTER DATABASE STOP LOGICAL STANDBY APPLY;
    execute dbms_logstdby.skip(stmt => 'SCHEMA_DDL', schema_name => 'TTADMIN', object_name => '%');
    execute dbms_logstdby.skip(stmt => 'SCHEMA_DDL', schema_name => 'TIMESTEN', object_name => '%');
    execute dbms_logstdby.skip(stmt => 'DML', schema_name => 'TTADMIN', object_name => '%');
    execute dbms_logstdby.skip(stmt => 'DML', schema_name => 'TIMESTEN', object_name => '%');
    ALTER DATABASE START LOGICAL STANDBY APPLY IMMEDIATE;
    2 - Erase both schemas from the local instance:
    DROP USER TTADMIN CASCADE;
    DROP USER TIMESTEN CASCADE;
    CREATE USER TTADMIN etc
    3 - Temporarily disable the database guard while creating the local ttCache structures, as the scripts seem to need to set a table-level lock on the source table:
    ALTER DATABASE GUARD NONE;
    ttIsql> CREATE READONLY CACHE GROUP etc
    ALTER DATABASE GUARD STANDBY;
    4 - Unset the "Fire_Once_Only" property for the local TTADMIN triggers:
    execute dbms_ddl.set_trigger_firing_property(trig_owner=> 'TTADMIN', trig_name=> 'TT_06_70560_T', fire_once => FALSE);
    At that point the cache seems to replicate properly in the most simple cases. I will try to test with some substantial load and against DG failovers to see how this behaves.
    Regards,
    Chris

  • Agent inventories Macs HW only or none seemingly at random

    The Inventory Only Agent (10.3) has NEVER worked in our heterogenous environment. After investigating the installation, OS, logs, etc., here is what I have found so far:
    1. The installation goes smoothly and indicates that in the /var/log/zenumia-install.log
    2. The inventory files (sp.spx, *-last.pdict) on the client have full inventories
    3. There is nothing that differentiates the HW & SW, HW only, and No inventoried systems.
    4. The OS are 10.5.8 and 10.6.6, but that doesn't seem to have any bearing on the outcome.
    5. The XML inventory file that gets created and uploaded to the server is the first indication of the problem. It reveals HW & SW, HW only, or No inventories, which means what ever creates the XML file on the client isn't reading the inventory files in the /usr/local/novell/zenumia/umia folder, at least not properly.
    Tried deleteing .pdict, .xml, and .cfg files, changing inventory schedule on server, fixing permissions, clearing caches, even completely removing agent and reinstalling new agent. All systems report the same respective degree of inventory.
    It would help if I knew the actual detailed process used to collect and create the XML file. Or if someone knows the problem, I would sure like to hear it. Thank you to any and all for any help you can provide.

  • Mac OSx Inventory Agent (followup)

    Hi guys,
    First I want to wish a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all you guys on the forum :)
    Second:
    I had the chance to work with the Mac OSx Inventory Only Agent and it didnt impress me much. Maybe some of you guys can help me change my mind ;)
    Here's what I have so far. After doing some tests couple months ago I found how to personalize the Agent .PKG so that the Inventory would be installed unatented ( without entering the ZENworks server ip or DNS manually on each machine). So, when the package is run, the Inventory Only run according the Schedule, noting wrong here.
    For a reason I ignore, it seems like none of the changes made on those MAC are taken by the agent and sent to the ZENworks server. For instance, I did the Snow Leopard (10.6) update on my laptop (MacbookPro) which owns the MacOSx Inventory agent since june.
    When I checked back the invetory data with the reports tool on the ZENworks server, the data wasnt updated...and never will.
    Same thing happened when I change the name of a MacMini tha owns the Inventory Agent. His name wasnt updated on the server info.
    Finally, it seems like none of the change made on any MacOSx workstations are taken by the agent and sent to the server. Thats not very usefull when you relly on this inventory agent to get an global idea of your network assets.
    I know the MacInventory is not Novell priority but, why provide us a MacOSx agent, when it doesnt do his job the way it should?
    Anyway, maybe one of you guys had better luck, just let me know here !!!

  • Zenworks Adaptive Agent conflicting with ZENNTSRV.EXE?

    Good morning - We are running Zenworks 2 on Windows 2000 (don't laugh) across several thousand workstations, with the Novell Client 4.90 SP2 upgraded from 4.83 SP3. That part of it works fine.
    I have pushed out the Zenworks Adaptive Agent version 10.1.0.0 to all workstations to install upon login in order to get a handle on exactly what we have out there on machines that are not compatible with our new ZCM 10.1 installation.
    Herein lies the rub - not every time, but with increasing coincidence we are seeing ZENNTSRV.EXE crashing with a The instruction at "0x77fcae88" referenced memory at "0xfffffffd". The memory could not be "read". message at the point at which the Zenworks Adaptive Agent starts commences its installation.
    Once the Zenworks Adaptive Agent is installed, we have noticed the crash. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this, or what suggestions you guys could make to get around this at the user end.

    Thanks for the reply. I did not make it clear that I intend to keep Zenworks 2 on our Windows 2000 machines and use the inventory-only agent on that platform.
    The inventory-only agent from ZCM 10.1 is happy to coexist with Zenworks 2, but on a significant number of machines we find that this crash occurs. It does seem to be the 4.90 SP2 clients only.

  • ZCM Inventory and Non-Standard Ports

    Greetings all:
    I have a client who has ZCM installed on a Windows server. During the install they decided to not use port 80 and 443 (due to another app on the box) and instead use 90 and 1443. After we applied ZCM 10.1, 10.1.1 and 10.1.2 the server showed issues with imaging. Research showed the issue to be trying to use port 1443 instead of 443. When we tried to change any config file to reflect 1443 the file would be changed back to 443. They decided to use 443 for SSL communications but still needed to use port 90 for other communications.
    Recently they realized that devices were not inventorying. They do not have the full agent installed on their workstations, only the inventory-only agent. It appears that any new workstations with a new install of the agent inventory, but updates do not occur. We enabled logging on a test machine. Please see the relevant part of the log below.
    Changing the umia xml file to reflect port 80 on the workstation seems to correct the issue and we can upload new data.
    What happened during our upgrade to change the ports we use to communicate with this server and what files can we edit to get back to the original ports we defined?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
