UJI Progress bar / Loader woes

Hi. I'm new here. Only a beginner with Flash really, been
using for a few months. I only have Flash 8 due to finances, but I
use CS3 at work.
I have built my own preloaders/progress bars in the past but
decided to have a go with the UI progress bar / Loader for quick
setup purposes.
Strange things afoot - works when published with "simulate
download" in Flash, works locally in browsers (quickly, obviously)
- but when I upload it to a server, Firefox is fine, but IE (6
& 7) it WAS working properly earlier, but when revisiting site,
progress bar hangs at 0%, then fails to disappear when main film is
loaded in. I have noticed this recurring problem with this
component over the last couple of days.
Perhaps I ought to just stick to writing manual ones, but
this one seemed like a very quick way of doing it - if the client
is satisfied with a generic, albeit slightly styled one.
Any ideas? Is it the styling causing it in some way? I have
fontFamily, fontSize, themeColor.

Both load instantly for me after the first load, check if it
is also doing this for you, if not than i am completely lost, i
cant see how a change in URL could possibly change the
flash.

  • Progress bar loads very slowley, reaches the end then nothing..

Hi, I have a G5 tower, on start up the progress bar loads very slowley and when it gets to the end it just stays that way, constantly 'progressing' nowhere.
I've left it for about 10 mins to see if it eventually starts up properly but no luck. I tried all the usually key combinations to help and also have started up in Safe Mode but im unable to type anything in as the curser is frozen.
Any else experienced anything like this?
From what i can tell the only other options I have are to try reinstalling the OS X from Disk (I dont have the OSX install disks as I bought it second hand from a local BBC office.)
Or take it to my local Mac store to let them have a go at fixing it.
Any advice or similar experience storys are very welcome.
    Cheers,
    Nick

Well, you posted in the Intel MacPro usage forum. Futher new posts should be made in the G5 Usage forum.
I help in both so we'll give it a shot. Since you don't have the disks try using fsck using these tips. I know you tried Safe Mode but perhaps fsck can repair more. The Repair Disk function in Disk Utility would work better, but it's only on the disks.

  • Mac Mini turns on, progress bar loads slowly on the apple screen, then it just turns off. What's happening?

So the power went out and my mac mini came on when the power came back on and as it was loading the power went off again. It didn't come on for a while but when it did the mac mini would load much slower than usual on the apple screen then the progress bar would get stuck at less than 50% before the mac mini would just switch off. It doesn't restart or anything, it just turns off. Go to turn it back on again, same happens, turns off. Try to boot it up in safe-mode, loads slowly then just turns off.
    Please help!

You can boot the problem Mac to Recovery like you did before. Attached the external HD and then install Yosemite to the external HD. That will erase the external HD and the external HD will have to be formatted in Mac format.
The Recovery link in my previous reply covered that.
If necessary, once installed on the external HD, boot while holding the Option  key. Choose to boot from the external HD. Once booted up use Finder to copy importent files the external HD.
I would also backup those importent file to another device/media too.
    Then replace the failed HD.
Then you can clone the external HD to the new HD
    http://nyacomputing.com/how-to-create-a-bootable-clone-of-your-mac-hard-drive/
Note that the Free SuperDuper does not clone the recovery partition to the new drive but the paid Carbon Copy Cloner does.

  • HT1455 iMac shuts down itself in the middle of Safe Boot progress bar loading

Hi, Im using a late 2009 iMac 21.5'' on Mountain Lion. (Originally Snow Leopard I THINK)
I got the dreaded grey screen one day and after I did more reseach i tried using the Safe Boot way.
Now Ive encountered a new problem, everytime I turn on my mac, it shows the Apple logo and the Safe Boot progress bar.
Not even reaching halfway through the bar, it just shuts down itself, every single time.. please help?
Btw, I',m using a wireless keyboard, I had to go around borrowing a windows keyboard from my friends, I dont know if anyone can shade some light if i can use wireless to do the keyboard pressing thing when it starts up?
I've also tried inserting my original OS installation disc and press C..it just shows a grey screen, then the disc got ejected, then the Apple logo with the progress bar and then shuts down itself.
Please help, I just need to go into my system one more time and backup my important datas before i go for the 1TB Seagate Replacement Program.
Thank you so much, appreciate it!

Is that similar with this article http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1553 on 'Instruction for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk utility' ?
No, that copies the entire drive IF it's entirely readable which you don't need, you only REALLY need is your files as everything else (OSX and programs) can be replaced)
Ds store: I read your article on creating a data recovery.
This is designed to install OS X onto a external drive, boot from it and then:
1: Attempt data recovery via normal drag and drop methods on your Users folders.
2: If the above fails, to see if the internal drive is working via Disk Utility, and/or use Data Rescue software ($100) to attempt recovery of the files themselves, bypassing the file structure and whatever is causing the problem.
3: Build your extenral boot drive of everything the way you need it, then Carbon Copy Cloner the external onto the internal drive (new or erased whatever the case may be)
May I ask you why not port powered?
Mac's have been shutting off ports that are drawing too much current, like what port powered hard drives do.
Am planning to get myself a 3TB external HDD 3,5" for all my backups in time for my AASP journey
Too large for a boot drive, you basically want a external boot drive equal too or slightly larger than the boot drive your recovering from, because later you can use it as a bootable clone backup of the entire boot drive and store it for emergencies.
These large drives like 1TB and 3TB are sometimes problematic (especially with 10.6) when formatting. Also I advise all boot drives be Zero erased before OS X is installed or cloned onto it to reduce bad sectors,  a zero erase on a 3TB drive could take 6-10 hours.
If you want to use the 3TB, use it for file backup, not for your bootable clone your creating with the instructions I gave.
You see later on, once you got all your data off the internal boot drive, you build the external boot drive just like you would do a brand new erased internal drive. You add programs and whatnot, tweak it how you like. Because later on your use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the external onto the erased or new internal drive. Get it?
So 3TB is excessive if your internal boot drive is only 500GB, you will have 2.5TB left over.
Sure you can partition, but I don't advise having so many backups on one piece of physical media, you drop it, lose it or fry it, you lost everything.
So more and seperate pieces of backup are safer in that regard, hardware and software redundancy.

  • Continuous Grey Screen w/ Progress Bar

I restarted my Macbook Pro and when the Apple logo appeared, a progress bar loaded to about 45 percent then the Mac shutdown.  This happens every time I turn on my computer.  I've tried Safe-Boot, Single User Mode and COMMAND R and none of that has worked.  Any Ideas?

I finally after about 20 minutes held down the restart button and now it just goes right to the grey screen with nothing else. no system folder question mark nothing. Great. It was working for about 5 minutes. I updated and now I am back to a non working laptop.

  • Persistent "Converting colors to CMYK" progress bar

There is a file I've been working on for a couple of weeks that I am all of a sudden having issues opening. I applied some effects to a photo within the document, and ever since then the program has been freezing up or having issues opening the file. It keeps on cycling through dozens of progress windows that say "Converting colors to CMYK". The progress bar loads in about 10 seconds before another one, exactly the same as the last, shows up. I've sat there and watched it cycle through like this for over 30 minutes on multiple occasions in the last 24 hours, just trying to be patient and see if it will ever load.
I have tried rebooting the computer, restarting the program, and downloading the latest updates. Nothing has made a difference. The file size is 26.6 MB with around 20 photos in it, and my computer isn't the fastest in the world, but this shouldn't take forever. Does anyone have any advice on this?
    Thanks,

I don't know if this will work but try setting the scratch disk for Illustrator to the Seagate instead of the internal HD and see if you have better luck. With less than 20% of the HD available it is starting to become a problem. Have you ever resaved the file with a Save As and overwritten the original? If you have been changing the images without doing this there is likely a lot of old previews and such held in the hidden part of the file which will be cleared by doing this.

  • Broken progress bar in gensplash?

So i am installing my dream polished distro right now and so far everything is great. all the hardware works, gnome is great, wireless, the works. so now that the dirty work was out of hte way i figured i'd do some polishing to make it look nice. so first i did the graphical grub patch and it came out just fine and dandy. then i tried the gensplash, followed the wiki, installed the kernel26beyond and it works, but the progress bar doesn't.
searching this forum i found some patches from 2004 that i dont want to apply because who knows how many things changed since then.
so the question is...how do i make the stupid progress bar load?

make sure you have "initscripts-gensplash" installed:
    pacman -S initscripts-gensplash
Then you have to edit back your rc.conf, rc.local scripts (originals saved under rc.conf.pacsave, rc.local.pacsave)

  • After updating to the latest version of Firefox on my Mac there is no progress bar for the page load. I really miss this feature and can't seem to find a way to obtain it.

The page load progress bar that was on the lower right of the window is no longer there. After updating to the latest version of Firefox on my Mac there is no progress bar for the page load. I really miss this feature and can't seem to find a way to obtain it. The tab has a circular progress wheel but this is useless for determining a stuck or slow loading page.
PLEASE NOTE: I am typing this in from a Windows based work computer but am asking about my Apple MacBook Pro that i use at home.

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.<br />
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time.<br />
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default <b>about:home</b> Home page.<br />
    Another possibility is to use:

  • Splash screen with progress bar and multiple jar files to load

    Hello,
I have been looking to the new features in java 6 for splash screens. I haven't implemented this never before and i was wondering how i could do the following with java 1.5 or 6:
I would like to see a splash screen with a progress bar that "grows" when every jar file has been read.
At this time i call my application like this from a shell script:
    exec "$JAVA_BIN" -Djava.library.path=$LIBRARIES_J3D -classpath xxxx.jar yyyy.jar zzzz.jar ...
where xxx.jar, yyy.jar and zzz.jar are very heavy jars.
So i would like to see in the progress bar 33% 66% and 100% when they are loaded.
I do not know if this is the right forum to ask for this. If no, please point me which would be the ideal one.
Any help will be very useful. Thanks to all!

    hi ,
My application size is large and take some time to load . Now i want that to show progress bar . how can i do this .Please Help me
    sorry for my english.
    Thanks

Do everything in a seperate thread. Create a progress bar in the main thread, then create a new thread for initializing your app. Once the init is done, hide the progress bar and make your app visible.
