UK account in Australia SLOW!!

I have recently moved to Australia and I have a UK account. When watching TV shows it's taking hours to download a show. My wife has set up an Australian account and it streams so much quicker. Do you throttle the download from overseas?

The terms and conditions you agreed to when created your account don't allow you to download your content in another location. You need to migrate your account to an Australian account.

  • Switching accounts is extremely slow in Leopard

I've just updated my iMac to Snow Leopard and all seemed work fine until i decide to switch to another account I have on my Mac: logging out and logging into an account is extremely slow and seems to freeze leopard (it requires about 2 minutes to switch and there are no possibility to control the machine). Someone experienced the same problem or can help me?
I've looked around my configurations and all look fine...I think!
    Thanks in advance!

Craig that's the only thing that looks strange in my console (from kernel.log):

The second disk is the one where I've Time Machine configured to start backups. It looks like Snow isn't able to correctly access the disk. I've never experienced something like that with Leopard. I will try to initialize the disk again with Snow and let you know soon.
Anyway, I'll check inside my console again if there are more errors on third part software.
    Ciao

The only way to get rid of those little leftover balances is to make a request to iTunes Customer Service:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
Once they get it zeroed out, you will be able to enter your new Swiss billing credentials.

  • Macbook Pro 2010 with 2 accounts, one really slow.

    HI everyone,
I seem to have an issue with my 2010 MacBook Pro 13". It's currently on the latest release of Mavericks. I have two user accounts, both admins. The original account is EXTREMELY SLOW or unresponsive. It shows a pixelated version of my previous desktop background which is odd. The other admin account was created at a later date and runs normally. User switching is less than enjoyable, too.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks!

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

  • Using my UK account in australia

    Please help somebody !!
Iv just moved to australia and got my IPOD running on a seperate pc over here ok. But it wont let me purchase songs. I want to use the same payment details from my UK bank account and purchase off the uk site like i was doing back home . Any way round this ??

If you live in country A and you want to purchase music in country B, you have to have:
    * A credit card from country B
    * A billing address in country B
If you cannot fulfill these requirements, you cannot purchase from another countries store. Simple as that.

  • One of five usaer accounts safari runs slow

Running iMac 2008 dual core 2.8 with Lion and Safari 5.1.  In my account it runs dog slow.  My wifes & kids run fine.   I repaired permissions.  How can I reload?  If there a file I should trash?

In your account, could be a third party Safari add on..
Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
And if you have any Extensions installed in Safari / Preferences - Extensions, turn that off, quit then reluanch Safari to test.
Try resetting Safari. From the menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari.
Select the top 5 boxes and the very last box. Click Reset
And try troubleshooting the Safari .plist
Go to ~/Library/Preferences. Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop.
Quit then relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, move the .plist file to the Trash.
~ (Tilde) character represents your Home folder.
For LIon:   To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library

  • Itune Account Purchases: insanely slow to retrieve

I have over 17 pages of purchase history.  I have a very fast internet connection. It takes up to a minute to retrieve each page as I am going through my account history. This is unacceptably slow.  Please fix.

If when you deleted the Mac OS X account, you had it delete all the user files immediately, then they're gone with virtually no hope of recovery. If you didn't use the "Delete Immediately" function, then take a look here:
Mac OS X: How to recover a home folder (directory)
That should help you get her files back.
If you did indeed use the Delete Immediately, then the tracks are gone. There's going to be no record of the tracks that she imported from CDs, so she'll just have to try and remember what she imported. There will be a record of the tracks she purchased from the iTunes Store; log into her iTunes Store account (which will not have been affected by the deletion of her Mac OS X account) using her existing iTunes Store user ID and password and click on the Purchase History.
Note, though, that officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased items. It's your responsibility to make backup copies in case something goes wrong with your system, as unfortunately it apparently did in your case, and you lose your iTunes library. If your daughter hasn't made a backup of her purchased tracks (in the future, make sure she does), and she doesn't have her tracks on an iPod, you're probably out of luck and will need to repurchase her tracks.
You can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis, but don't count on it.
    Good luck.

  • I have 2 iTune accounts, Israel & Australia. How can I combine them?

I have 2 iTunes accounts, 1 Australian and the 2nd, Israeli. The Australian account has a lot of music downloaded from my CD collection and the Israeli account has mainly Kindle ebooks that I have bought.
When I want to buy certain books I am told I must go to the other account and I don't know how to change from one to the other.
Can the 2 accounts be combined into a sinble iTunes account and if so, how>
Most appreciative of any solution offered.

  • One user account on Macbook Pro is painfully slow

We have 2 user accounts on our 2011 Macbook Pro.  My user account is extremely slow when doing everything from opening apps to using the net and the colourful spinning wheel is driving me nuts!  iPhoto is one of the worst and is something I use quite a bit.  There were a lot of photos on there most of which have since been moved to an external hard drive to free up space on the hard drive however it is still incredibly slow even when flicking between photos and editing photos is worse.  When using Safari even trying to type something in the subject line brings up the spinning wheel, let alone trying to scroll down a page once it finally loads!   The other account works fine and doesn't seem to be affected.  Please help!

    I hope I didn't copy too much.

  • Ssh access very slow to some accounts

I have OS X Server 10.6.2 up and running. If I ssh from a client machine to the server as the admin user, I get a password prompt, and on entering the password I immediately get to a shell prompt. If I do the same but specify another user, I get a password prompt and then there is a long wait of about a minute after entering the password before I get a shell prompt.
I believe I have DNS set up correctly. Both forward and reverse DNS is working for both addresses on my local network and for external addresses. Running the "sudo changeip -checkhostname" command shows no problems.
On examining the logs I see a few worrying looking entries such as:
Dec 14 11:10:39 mms edu.mit.Kerberos.CCacheServer[1478]: launchctl start error: No such process
But I still see that the user that saw the long delay before logging in successfully has valid Kerberos tickets, as per the output of the "klist" command:
    mms:~ sh$ klist
Kerberos 5 ticket cache: 'API:Initial default ccache'
    Default principal: [email protected]
    Valid Starting Expires Service Principal
    12/14/09 11:31:04 12/14/09 21:31:04 krbtgt/[email protected]
    renew until 12/15/09 11:30:33
    12/14/09 11:31:34 12/14/09 21:31:04 host/[email protected]
    renew until 12/15/09 11:30:33
Which would imply that Kerberos is doing its job correctly?
Any suggestions about what might be causing the delays I'm seeing and what I might do to correct the problem?

I'm still struggling with this and drawing a blank searching for similar reports. Does anyone else see this problem? I'm beginning to suspect it might be something unique to my setup.
To add a further piece of information, the home directory of the account which is slow to connect to is an afp mount and the first thing I see in the system log after the long delay is a line like the following:
Feb 9 11:21:36 mms sshd[50749]: afp home directory mount succeeded
A pwd run from this account shows:
    /Network/Servers/mms.marske.local/Users/sh
and the mount command shows the following info:
map -fstab on /Network/Servers (autofs, automounted, nobrowse)
I was thinking that maybe it was the afp automount that was taking so long except for two things.
    1) The disk is local to the server, and
    2) If I logout of this account an issue the command "ls /Network/Servers/mms.marske.local/Users/sh" from another account, the directory listing returns immediately.
    Any thoughts?

  • TS3276 20GB gmail IMAP account in Apple Mail 4.5 is very slow

I have several users with large Gmail IMAP accounts (10GB - 20GB). these accounts work fine from web browser, but one user (87% of 25GB gmail account) experiences frequent slow downs and delays both sending, receiving and worse filing mail in Apple Mail 4.5
I assume this was to do with volume of mail, but other users are fine. I have repared permissions and rebuilt the index, which has made no difference, any ideas what could be causing this?
All users are running recent Imacs with snow leopard sufficient disk space and memory.

Hi, I am striking out in getting to the bottom of this issue and need advice.
I have a macbook (08) running mail 3.6 and have no problem w/ my gmail/aol/att accounts.. but with my wifes new macbook 10.6.4 (4.3 mail) Gmail constantly reloads all mail I delete and I can not receive any new emails. Mail is setting up automatically as IMAP settings even though I have my other email as POP and have no issues. I can not find any help via Apple and searching the internet seems just as bad. I have also tried ports 465 / 993 / 995 none seem to work. I have tried the unlock method as well. I will have to try this auto setup to POP as I can't get IMAP to work.. but it seems like I have tried almost everything! I have seen your responses in a number of areas to this issue but thought I could ask directly. Please help.

  • Safari 5 seems to have slowed the OS for my Admin user account

After installing Safari 5 (now 5.0.2), and after a few Safari hangs and force quits, my OS for my Admin user account has become slow. Opening folders and seeing the contents is slow; moving small documents from folder to folder is very slow; cutting and pasting text in a MS Word document sometimes takes two or three tries, as the text highlighting cursor function has slowed. (Interestingly, Safari's basic click and pageload functions seem to work fairly normally, but with the same highlighting and copy/paste slowness that affects all other programs. Also, my mouse pointer moves quickly as per normal.)
However, I created a new user account as a test comparison and found that the new user account is NOT slow. It works perfectly fine.
Any thoughts on what I should do? Is my original Admin account corrupted? Is it possible to simply move my personal files (Word docs, iTunes songs, bookmarks) to the new user account and then delete my original Administrator account?
What should I do? Thanks everyone.

Well, it was worth a shot.
How full is your hard drive? Always a good starting point for diagnosing slowdowns.
Sometimes running periodic maintenance scripts helps, because it cleans some caches that a Safari reset won't. The scripts are supposed to run automatically in the wee hours of the morning when most people are computing, but the problem is that they only run if the computer is on and not sleeping. Not too realistic.
This article in an excellent series of "keep the Apple sweet" articles talks about the scripts and how to run them manually:
    http://thexlab.com/faqs/maintscripts.html
They are less important in later incarnations of Mac OSX as some o the tasks they do were shifted to start-up, but doing them is worth trying.
Also use Activity Monitor to check for a runaway background process. It's possible that this could affect only one user account. If you've not used Activity Monitor before, make sure you change its "Show" option from the default of "My Processes" to "All Processes" or you might miss some nasty troublemakers. Also click in the "%CPU" column header to sort by processor usage. With no user apps running, (basically an idling computer) no single process should demand more than ~5 percent of the processor. Let AM display for a few minutes while you watch it, as some processes toggle back and forth as they activate.
Running any anti-virus software? Most does more Mac-harm than Mac-good.
    Keep us posted!

  • Can I merge my Australian iTunes Account with my UK iTunes Account?

I'm an Australian living in London and have an iTunes account in both countries.
Is it possible to merge these accounts?
What if both accounts could link to my @me.com account - or is .me not going to be around forever?
Please Apple.. solve this problem with one universal email or account. For such a brilliantly simple company, this is a problem that needs a solution!

    Thanks for the feedback Ed.
It was 18 months ago now that I moved over so inevitably I've setup a UK iTunes.
With iCloud I now have 3 accounts - UK, Australia and @me.com!
Surely there is a way to combine all three and have one universal password?
