UK data retrieval recommendations? REALLY value data is currently MIA!

Accidently posted this in 12" PB (not sure how!):
LOOOOONG story short: Can you recommend anyone in the UK area who does a good job retrieving data from what has been deemed a high probability recovery chance internal G4 Powerbook Hitachi hard disk?
Anything I need to know about the subject? Like is an expensive company necessarily that much better? Quote I have so far is for upto £1,300 for this and I will pay it if it need be but thought I'd ask for word of mouth recommendations first.
All I can tell you is that this WILL involve removing the platters from the mechanism and placing them to another, functioning one, due to the fact that my old hard drive died suddenly from mechanism failure according to the Apple folk who replaced it with another and who could not "spin it up".
Probability is I need to back up in the region of 20GB.
Your help in this is so very gratefully received as the data missing includes 400 photos of my 91 year old granddad who was taken ill the same day as the failure and hasn't got long.

OK- this is an update for those who come after.
I sent this hard disk as is to Fields Data Recovery who quoted me a free appraisal and £465 for the job if it proved possible. This compares rather favourably to Ontrack Data Recovery who charge £85 plus VAT for the appraisal and anything between £450 to £1,200 for the job depending on the complexity.
I warn anyone- you only EVER get what you pay for. So- work out how precious your data is to you and deal accordingly.
I took a gamble and won- I got PART, and the right part, of my data back.
Lesson? Back-up, back-up and BACK-UP! I now own a smart 250GB Lacie (such a smart machine!) and it does well- backing up data on a weekly basis for the eventuality. Another tip- if you can possibly afford it, have TWO back up external drives! One to be stored in a completely different location. Nice tip from my lovely technicians who repaired my beloved laptop.

explain the exact problem..? as you mentioned you want to create query to show values for current month and last 12 months.. so I think you want to show values for 12 months from current data.. you can achive this by multiple way..
you can have selection screen and field with date .. and restrict based on system current date and 12 months before or you can handle this at your target.. .. I mean there are multiple ways to restrict data by date range..

At last i got it. :)
Followed the below steps.
Step1:
Created a String variable "currentDateTimeValue" in BPEL.
Step2:
I have used the below code in JavaEmbedding in BPEL.
java.text.SimpleDateFormat sdf = new java.text.SimpleDateFormat();
//Date Pattern looks lil weird. But some Web service accepts only this format.
sdf.applyPattern("yyyy-MM-dd'T'HH:mm:ss.SSS'-00:00'");//2012-04-14T16:24:00.578-00:00
String formattedDate = sdf.format(new java.util.Date());
addAuditTrailEntry("Formatted datetime string is: " + formattedDate);
setVariableData("currentDateTimeValue", formattedDate);
Step3:
Created a Simple XSD with an element "DateElement" of String type.
Step4:
Assigned "currentDateTimeValue" value to "DateElement" element, in Assign activity.
Step5:
Now added this DateElement in Transformation activity, as a second source variable. Mapped this data to the required target element in my XSL.
uh-huh I got the output...

Retrieval of Temporal Values

Hi,
I'm trying to retrieve a temporal value using the determinations engine in .Net.
I get an exception trying to cast the returning object to "TemporalValue".
Can anyone give me a clue as to how I return the data?

Hi there,
There are a couple of things to watch out for when casting values of an OPA Attribute.
* If the value is not temporal then it will correspond to its type String, Double Date etc.
* If the value is temporal then the type will be TemporalValue (*Oracle.Determinations.Engine.Local.Temporal.TemporalValue* in DotNET)
* If the value is Unknown, then it will be null (which should still cast to TemporalValue)
* If he value is Uncertain then it will be an Instance of the Oracle.Determinations.Engine.Uncertain object.
If you are getting an error casting the most likely candidate would be an Uncertain attribute value, but that's just a guess. If this doesn't help, you should paste the stack trace and error message and perhaps we can diagnose the problem

How to get data for current week and previous week using customer exit in Bex.

I have a scenario in which I need to display data for current week and previous week (based on "sy_datum" the program has to calculate current week and previous week) in Bex using Customer exit. I have created one variable in Bex Query Designer and I have written code for the variable in CMOD. But it is not working fine, (I know that we can do the same by using offset value in Bex). Can some one guide me how to achieve my requirement using customer exit.

How to compare a Date data with Current Year and Period Member on FIX

Hi experts,
I have a Project dim that each member is a Project (P01, P02...)
and Account dim that stores information of the each Project (Name, Start date, Finished Date...)
Finished Date member is in Date data type
So how can write a IF condition below in order to compare Project Finished Date with Current Year and Period members on FIX
FIX (@Descendants(Projects), Descendants(All Year), Descendants("Year Total")...)
IF (@CURRMBR(Period)->@CURRMBR(Year) < Project->FinishedDate)
Do something...

I have installed BC variable Year To Date for Current Fiscal Year 0I_CFYTD..
foloowing error occurs
Variable 0I_CFYTD could not be replaced..
Do i need to write any code or Please help.....

Hi,
Please check if fiscal year variant is used in the filter. Else the BC variable throws an error. Drag fiscal year variant to the filter area and set a value or variable input for the same.

Retrieving old column values from a after delete trigger dynamically

I have a single audit table for deletions
and the table structure has the following columns
1: table_name
2: column_name
3: column_value
I am writing a trigger on tables for which i want to have delete audits and i am dynamicaly
retrieving the column names but i am unable to retrieve the column value dynamically;
I tried to use the following statement but doesn't return the column value
sql_stmt:= 'select :1 from dual';
execute immediate sql_stmt into col_value using
':old.'| |v_col_name;
where v_col_name is the name of the column which i retrieve dynamically using the
dbms_sql.describe_columns procedure.
Is their any way if i can retrieve the old column values in the trigger dynamically if i already
have the column names in variables..

I don't know if Kevin's tip Help Mr. Sameer, but it did help me gain access to pre-deleted row column values.
I did discover, however, that if the columns from the about-to-be-deleted row are used as inserts into another table, Oracle serves up a nasty-gram informing the user that values from the about-to-be-deleted table are unreliable.
I was able to circumvent this constraint by assigning the about-to-be-deleted column values to local PL/SQL varables, then perform the insert using the variable values.

Numbers does not have predefined key command for Insert Date & Time as you can see from this screenshot:
All menus show the key commands on the very right (if there is a ke command). You can add you own, custom, key commands by opening system preferences and selecting the Keyboard panel, then the "Keyboard Shortcuts" segment:
Click the "+" then a modal dialog will appear. Select the application from the pop, then enter the exact name if the menu item, and, finally, your desired key combination:
You can do this for any application

Variable last date of previous month/last date of current month

Hello Experts,
I am facing an issue while designing a query.
Requirement is like this.
Report will be run on monthly basis.so on execution of report, it should prompt for month/year.
now on report there are two columns for which I have to get data on date basis(last date of previous month and Last date of current month).
Can anyone tell me is there any standard variable for this? what is it?
or how to achieve this?

Retrieve xml attribute value of nth xml node using xpath query

I have an xml with following stucture...

I have to loop through this xml and retrieve the orderId values inside Biztalk orchestration.
In the expression shape, I get the count of 'DocumentReference' nodes using an xpath query and then
Added a loopshape to make sure it loops thru all nodes
Loop condition:   n<=nodeCount     (where n is an integer variable, n=0 to begin with, incremented by 1 thru each loop, nodeCount is # of DocumentReference nodes)
I try retrieve to the orderId in the following expression shape using the below xpath query
xpathQuery = System.String.Format("//*[local-name()='OrderReference'][{0}]/@orderID)",n);
sOrderId = xpath(MsgSingleInvoice,xpathQuery);
And I get the following exception:
Inner exception: '//*[local-name()='OrderReference'][1]/@orderID)' has an invalid token.
Exception type: XPathException

And I see a different error:

Source: Microsoft.XLANGs.Engine

Since variable 'n' is of integer type, I suspected it and changed it to n.ToString() and tested again and still see the same error.

Hello Sam,
are you using Universe for your report..if Yes..pls try below option.
Create two objects in the universe
Object1 syntax: current date() (Note:this object you can create at webi level)
Object 2 syntax:addmonths(sysdate;-2)
Now create a alert in webi report by using below conditions
Day is less than Object1
and
Day is greater than Object2
Please try this and let me know if any issues.
