Precision Acoustics require a dedicated IT Software Architect to join their team on a specialised project.
Precision Acoustics manufactures ultrasonic measurement products for medical and NDT industries. Based in the south of England in Dorchester, Precision Acoustics is owned by its Managing Director and two of the Research Scientists. The company was established in its present form in 1997 and is well established as a major supplier of equipment for the MHz ultrasound markets on a world-wide basis.
Your role will be to drive forward the deployment of the new software architecture, to enable the company to transition to a new and improved way of working. In order to do that, you will need to influence effectively, communicate through a variety of media, and persuade and motivate staff to adopt the new software and associated processes. It is essential that you are experienced in working with LabVIEW.
You will bring or develop capability for best-practice requirements engineering, software engineering, software architecture/design (using National Instruments LabVIEW), and software performance. You will also work with the Software Systems Research Centre at Bournemouth University to disseminate research challenges to the academic staff community. This may include authorship of conference and/or journal papers.
Your role comes with a large development budget and includes the opportunity to undertake a project-focused fully-funded Masters in Research (MRes) degree at Bournemouth University.
This is an 18 month fixed term appointment and could lead to the offer of permanent employment.

My understanding is that it is open to UK, EU and international graduates. However, I'd recommend you double check with Bournemouth University via the job advert links. For the duration of the KTP, the successful candidate is actually an empoyee of the university, so they will know the answer. For information, I'm the company/industrial supervisor on the project.

Mail app marked an email as junk, missed job opportunity. How can I fix this?

I pipe my school email to my gmail account, which I use the mail app to view. It usually works nicely, but I was going through my junk folder and noticed I missed a job opportunity because mail app sent it to junk. This has never happened before. Maybe you just need to go to Mail > Preferences > Junk and do some more serious configuring, perhaps using the Advanced options, or at minimum, leaving Junk in your Inbox. Anyway, without seeing the email, it's hard to know why it may have been sent to Junk in the first place--too many links, maybe. (Sorry this happened to you though!)

Since you are reading text you might want to create an InputStreamReader from which you can do your reading much like you used the FileReader before when you were working with a File.
Class also has a [getResourceAsStream()|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/lang/Class.html#getResourceAsStream(java.lang.String)] which combines the first two steps into one. Ie use getResource() as you mentioned when you want to get a URL that some other class will use to read (eg an image) or use getResourceAsStream() when you are going to do the reading yourself.

You're right: Weblogic supports Apache web server 2.0 and 2.2 to be a proxy server but you are using Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1.0 which is based on Apache *1.3* as you can read in "Oracle® HTTP Server Administrator's Guide"

As far as I know, the only OHS based on Apache *2.0* is available as a standalone release: "Oracle HTTP Server (Apache 2.0) (10.1.3.3.0) for Linux x86" - 32bit. You can download it from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle11g/111060_linuxsoft.html (as_101330_apache2_lnx.zip).
I've tested it successfully.

Virtually no businesses have Pages to be able to read .pages files.
Definitely not those with PCs, because there is no version of Pages for PCs.

Installing Dali plugin in IBM Rational Software Architect

Hi,
We use IBM Rational Software Architect as development environment, and we want to use the Dali Eclipse plugin to generate Entities using TopLink. We cannot get Dali installed in IBM RSA though. Since IBM RSA is based on Eclipse, it shouln't be a problem to install Eclipse plugins. We tried installing Help > Software Updates > Find & Install and via copying the files into the Eclipse tree, but neither of the to methods succeeded. The plugin simply doesn't show up.
Does anyone have a suggestion on what to do to get it installed? We use a separate installation of Eclipse Europa now as a workaround. But I think you understand we prefer to use a single development environment.
Here's some detailed information about the version of IBM RSA we're using:

Flex Builder 3 plugin is not intended to be installed on Eclipse Galileo (3.5).
Zend Studio 7 is based on Eclipse 3.5, and when I tried to install the FB3 plugin, the installation wizard gave me this error:
"Please choose an existing Eclipse 3.2, 3.3, or 3.4 folder to be extended with the Flex Builder Plugin-ins."
However Flash Builder 4 it seems that it's working with Eclipse 3.5. I've just installed Flash Builder 4 plug-in into Zend Studio 7.

But now it's your turn. If you're working as a software architect -- or if you have your career sights set on that role, what makes that role important to you?

Architect ... I see him it differently, and I will tell how much differently .. I purchased a apartment/home and living there, decorating it with paintings , murals , mosaic and many other good things, I am now simply living in a house and following its geometry as it is set for my house , this is the limitation of my house , this is something I am bound to follow or I will hurt myself or I will crash , So the feeling that something designed by some is governing my movement is both a matter of contention and admiration.
This is architect, he/she defines the rule of the game and in fact start the game also. This is a analogy I have drawn.
Also if someone has seen the move Matrix from The Wachowski Brothers , you will find one very interesting thing , all are playing the game which the architect has build.
I personally have a high regards for them, I think it takes a great amount experience and hard work to reach a point where you can design .
Personally I am not sure what all skills are needed to be a Software architect .
I would love to get guidance from them.

HT1351 Music imported from CDs will not synch to my iphone or ipad - even though it's ticked and set up correctly. Looking at other posts this seems ot have been an issue for ages. The latest itunes software update hasn't fixed it

This has now been ongoing for over a month - the lastest software release hasn't fixed it.
I can import music from CDs - the tracks are ticked for synching and all the associated rigmarole is correct.
Problem is when I synch, apps go across but imported music doesn't. It just gets to step 5 - waiting for changes to be applied - and then does nothing until it eventually finishes synching but no music has come across.
Same issue on my iphone.
I have looked at some solutions on forums but they seem complicated and I don't understand why apple haven't yet fixed this (or why you can't contact them). Seems a basic fundamental service that they are not supplying.
Having spoken to people in the family, its seems I'm not laone with this problem (unless you have a mac......)

I had this same problem with my new MBP 15", but only with the USB port on the left side. The USB port on the right side worked fine. Perhaps the ports on the left don't have enough signal energy for the iPhone.
Anyway, try using a different USB port, and if that doesn't work, perhaps you could try a powered USB hub.
