Uk iPad not charging from computer

Hi all,
I tried to charge my iPad from my brand new Mac mini (latest one) and whilst the battery icon on the iPad says its charging it in fact does not. If iPad is as 80% charge then it will just stay at 80% never going any higher.
The supplied charger works well and quite quickly, so I am guessing that the Max mini does not supply enough current to the device - can anyone offer any advice ?

The iPad has to be off in order for it to charge through USB. When I connect my iPad to my laptop the charge level stays the same unless I turn it off. I don't remember if the same thing happens when using the wall charger.

New iPad owner here. I was wondering if it's normal for the iPad to only charge from the wall charger and not via USB. It syncs up fine but I get the "Not Charging" message as long as its connected to my computer via USB.

I think it is weird that it doesn't charge to any USB-port except the ones on my MacBook Pro. I have USB hubs in my Apple monitor that normally have enough power to supply anything that needs power. I have a standalone powered USB-hub that gives a lot of power. But none of them will charge my iPad.
Other equipment will give you a message that it need more power than the connection has, why doesn't that happen when you connect the iPad to a USB-port that it will not charge from.
My two ports on the MacBook Pro are occupied and it is not an option to connect the iPad there and it is annoying to connect the USB charger and then later connect it to the computers USB-feed.
    Not good!

  • IPad2 not charging from computer

When I plug my iPad2 into my computer to sync and download.  It doesn't charge.  It's not a problem as it charges from the wall plug, but I was just curious why it doesn't.  My iPhone charges from the computer

    Charging Tips
The quickest way to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter. When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge, but only when it's in sleep mode. Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.

  • My ipod will not charge from a wall socket but will charge using the same cable if the usb end is plugged into a computer or an airport power source. My iphone and ipad charge fine on the same cable usin ghte same wall plug in the same wall socket?

My ipod will not charge from a wall socket but will charge using the same cable if the usb end is plugged into a computer or directly into an airport power source. My iphone and ipad charge fine on the same cable using the same wall plug in the same wall socket. This makes no sense but I see that it has been posted as a problem elsewhere. This must be due to some kind of degredation of the Ipod. . It is not fixed by IOS resets as others have noted.
Has anyone asked Apple directly about this?

  • New iPad 3 will not charge from a mac. need help on that

my new ipad 3 will not charge from a mac. need help why if any one knows? thk

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • My iPad is not charging from my laptop

Hi after I update my iPad to 6.1 it's not charging from my laptop

iPads want 10W of power, most USB ports put out 5W. Technically, your iPad will charge off USB, but since hte power is below its minimum requirement, it says 'not charging', and it will take a long time. SUch as leaving your iPad connected to your computer over night and getting up in the morning and it's still not charged.
Using the power brick plugged into the wall is the most reliable and efficient way of charging it.

  • IPhone will not charge from wall socket only from Laptop or Computer!

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem?
My IPhone will charge sometimes and sometime it wont:
I mean like sometimes it will charge from the wall socket and sometimes it wont!
It will go so far as to turn off because of no battery life! Then I plug it in to the Laptop and it starts charging!

I have had this problem for some time. It applies to both a wall charger (the one that came with iPhone and a third-party model) and a car charger (third party). Both wall and car chargers are rated at 1000 ma which should be enough power. Yet when the battery charge goes below a certain level the phone will not charge from wall or car charger, but it will charge from a computer.
I did some research on USB power. Per specification, a USB client (the iPhone) cannot draw more than 100 ma from the USB host (charger or computer or hub) unless it asks for and gets permission to draw more current. (This is so it does not interfere with other USB devices connected to the host.)
Inexpensive wall chargers do not contain any computing elements. They short the D+ and D- lines together. This makes it impossible for a client to negotiate a higher current draw, so the iPhone, working per the USB standard, limits itself to 100 ma. When connected to a computing device such as a computer or USB hub, the iPhone can negotiate a higher current, up to the 500 ma currently allowed by the USB standard.
This begs the question, why can't the iPhone charge on 100 ma when the battery is almost completely discharged? After all, when the battery has more charge, the iPhone will charge nicely from a wall charger. Perhaps someone has some insight into this aspect.
There is evidently a new USB standard for wall chargers that will fix this issue. Both the host and client must implement in order for it to work. (I haven't read the standard, but suspect it involves the client detecting that the D+ and D- lines are shorted together.) Obviously, either the charger or my iPhone 3G don't comply with this new standard. Maybe the iPhone 3GS does? Or maybe we have to wait for another iPhone model that has the hardware that complies with the new USB wall charger standard.
Meanwhile I have to be careful not to fully discharge my iPhone battery when I am away from a computer. I recently went on a 30-day trip and had no problem because I charged the phone every night. Of course, I did not use it much because it was an international trip and AT&T roaming rates are horribly expensive.

My iPad will not charge from the wall outlet or the USB.  I also used three different chargers, as well as rebooting my iPad several times.

Then it's time to make an appointment at your Apple Genius Bar at your Apple Store.  Apple will check it out and if it's defective and still in waranty (you don't say which model you have), it will be replaced.
