UK iPhone 3G (o2), moving to the US. I would like to use ATT and my iPhone

Hi there.
I own an iPhone 3G. I bought this on Pay as you Go from an Apple store in the UK.
In April 2009 I'm moving (permanently) to the US. I was hoping to take my iPhone 3G with me, and use it without having unofficial firmware, or unlocking it on the network ATT.
Anyone know if it's possible to 're-flash' it with a US/Att Baseband firmware? I was hoping to find out this before I leave so I can sell it in the UK before I leave if need be.
Thanks!
Ryan.

O2 PAYG phones are usually unlocked... I brought my contract iPhone to New York in January and had good AT&T signal although it cost me £1 a minute on my contract. I'd take a guess that you can pick up a normal AT&T PAYG sim card over there and it'll work in your PAYG iPhone.

  • MSI K7T266 Pro2-RU - problem with the lite-raid - would like to use it as a normal ide

    Hi!
I tried to install a single drive on the raid-controller and create a single array for it.
For some reason the disk management in Windows XP does not see it, even though
I have updated the related drivers. However, the Disk management showed it the first time after I had installed the HD onto the raid, but as I could not do anything intelligent with Disk management in regard of the HD, I removed the drive from Disk management with that effect that the disk management does not recognize the drive at all, even though I have now re-created the array on the risk, disabled and enabled raid on the Bios.
I read that there exists modified bios for MSI KT3 Ultra ARU BIOS, which will turn the Raid into regular IDE. That would be something that would most probably be the best way to proceed for me. However, do such bioses exist for MSI K7T266 Pro2-RU? Any other suggestions on how to get the disk management to succeed in recornizing the IDE on the raid-controller would be good to hear as well.
    Yours sincerely,
    Tero

Ok, I tried updating with the hacked 3.7 Full Raid Bios. Now I seem to have another problem: even though the hacked bios recognizes my HD, it thinks it's about 130 GB, when it in reality would be 250 GB. The hacked bios seems to work ok with Disk Management in Windows XP too, so it's a shame that the hacked bios doesn't seem to have a support for large disks. On the other hand the link at Lumberjacker was dead for the hacked bios v3.6, I would have tried it, if it would have provided me with a good solution to my problem.
I then went back and installed the official v3.7 bios and the lite raid does now recognize the HD being 250 GB, but the Disk Management just states "Missing" in regard of the HD and does not let me do anything fruitful with it. I looked the HD's properties and the Device Manager just states "Hardware device not connected code 45".
How in earth could I manage to make this work now (I do not want to move my other HD:s as they are full of stuff and don't want to risk losing any content)?
General specs of the computer: IDE 1: 60 GB and 120 GB Matrox, IDE 2: Nec2500 and Sony DVD-Rom, Athlon 1800+ XP, 512 MB memory, Ati 9700 np, Network adapter card. The new HD to be added is a 250 GB WD (have removed the jumper)
    Thank you for any tips,
    Tero

  • TS4036 My initial backup to iCloud  for my iPhone 3G is taking so long. I would like to use my phone, but am afraid to stop the backup process. Going on 16 hours.

My backup to iCloud seems to be taking so long, I don't even have any confidence that it is working. Going on 16 hours. I want to use my phone, but it says if I stop it will return my phone to initial state. Do I lose all my apps?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The first back up to iCloud may take some considerable time. Just how long isn't really possible to say without knowing how much is in your back up and your connection speed.
What many people don't realise is that upload speeds are often significantly less than download speeds, so for example a user may have a download speed of 40 Mbps, but only 1 Mbps for uploading. As a rough guide it will take around 2 ¼ hours to upload 1 GB of data at 1 Mbps.

  • 18$ in credit on one Apple ID and would like to use it on my iPhone which is a separate Apple ID

What's the easiest way to go about this?

A device is not connected to one apple ID.  You can use many ID's on one phone.  It does get a bit annoying switching through each one when there is a update available, but to connect 2 or more, just go to the bottom of the app store and click sign out and then sign into the apple ID with the credit.

  • I have a bluetooth scanner and i would like to use it on my iPhone 4s. do they have an app for this?

does anyone know how to make a hand held bluetooth barcode scanner to work with iPhone4s?

    Open iTunes.
Go to iTunes Store home page (the one with the house icon).
Find Quicklinks on the right of the page:

  • I would like to use removable hard disk drive (portable hard disk) for iphone because of many data, report and so on. I want to receive data for e-mail, so the iphone holds large amounts of data for a long time, and i want to use its at any time

nowadays, people use removable hard disk drive (portable hard disk) & usb flash drive at computer because of usability, easy to carry around.
so, i would like to use these functions for iphone. i want to develop mini portable hard disk for the use of iphone like computer

    Not a feature of iphone.

  • I would like to switch Iphone5 and Iphone 4

I have both an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 5 in use.
    Current situation:
I have the iPhone 5 with the simcard and settings from country X.
I have the iPhone 4 with the simcard and settings from country Y.
What I want to do, is to swap everything (including whatsapp data, photos, apps, music, bluetooth profiles, just everything) from my iPhone 4 and iPhone 5, and to swap the simcard. This enable me to use the iPhone 5 as my main phone in country Y, while at the same time, I keep reachable for persons calling me on my cell number from country X.
    Target situation:
I have the iPhone 5 with the simcard and settings from country Y.
I have the iPhone 4 with the simcard and settings from country X.
So just to summarize: In the future, I would like to use the iPhone 4 as I am using the iPhone 5 now; the iPhone 5 I would like to use as i am using the iPhone 4 now.
How can I do this? Let's assume that I can get the simcards in the correct sizes. Both phones are 16gb models.
I appreciate your comments and input.

You cannot restore the ip4 from the ip5 backup. You will have to do it the other way around. The ip4 will have a lower iOS than the iOS 6.1.4 in the ip5.
    Read http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
    which says:
iTunes and iOS do not support installing backups of newer versions of iOS onto devices using earlier versions of iOS.
You have identified that the two phones have different SIM cards so you have that sorted.
I would make sure you have good backup of contacts.  Use an app like MCBackup to create vcard of your contacts and email them to yourself.
This is what is contained in the backups:
WHAT IS CONTAINED IN A BACKUP
One active backup is contained in an iTunes backup and each time an new backup is created the previous backup is overwritten.  An iTunes backup contains the following information:
Contacts* and Contact Favorites (regularly sync contacts to a computer or cloud service such as iCloud to back them up).
App Store Application data including in-app purchases (except the Application itself, its tmp and Caches folder).
Application settings, preferences, and data, including documents.
    Autofill for webpages.
    CalDAV and subscribed calendar accounts.
    Calendar accounts.
    Calendar events.
    Call history.
Camera Roll (Photos, screenshots, images saved, and videos taken. Videos greater than 2 GB are backed up with iOS 4.0 and later.)
Note: For devices without a camera, Camera Roll is called Saved Photos.
    Game Center account.
    Home screen arrangement.
    In-app purchases.
Keychain (this includes email account passwords, Wi-Fi passwords, and passwords you enter into websites and some other applications. If you encrypt the backup with iOS 4 and later, you can transfer the keychain information to the new device. With an unencrypted backup, you can restore the keychain only to the same iOS device. If you are restoring to a new device with an unencrypted backup, you will need to enter these passwords again.)
List of External Sync Sources (MobileMe, Exchange ActiveSync).
Location service preferences for apps and websites you have allowed to use your location.
Mail accounts (mail messages are not backed up).
Installed Profiles. When restoring a backup to a different device, installed configuration profiles are not restored (such as accounts, restrictions, or anything which can be specified through an installed profile.) Any accounts or settings that are not associated with an installed profile will still be restored.
Map bookmarks, recent searches, and the current location displayed in Maps.
    Microsoft Exchange account configurations.
Network settings (saved Wi-Fi hotspots, VPN settings, network preferences).
Nike + iPod saved workouts and settings.
    Notes.
    Offline web application cache/database.
Paired Bluetooth devices (which can only be used if restored to the same phone that did the backup).
Safari bookmarks, cookies, history, offline data, and currently open pages.
Saved suggestion corrections (these are saved automatically as you reject suggested corrections).
Messages (iMessage and carrier SMS or MMS pictures and videos).
Trusted hosts that have certificates that cannot be verified.
    Voice memos.
Voicemail token. (This is not the voicemail password, but is used for validation when connecting. This is only restored to a phone with the same phone number on the SIM card).
    Wallpapers.
    Web clips.
    YouTube bookmarks and history.
    * Your contacts are part of the backup to preserve recent calls and favorites lists. Back up your contacts to a supported personal information manager (PIM), iCloud, or another cloud-based service to avoid any potential contact data loss.
There are three backups saved in iCloud and the following information is contained in an iCloud backup:
Purchased music, movies, TV shows, apps, and books
Photos and videos in your Camera Roll
    Device settings
    App data
    Home screen and app organization
    Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS)
    Ringtones
    Visual Voicemail
Make sure you transfer purchases from your phone to the computer  and do good backups of both phones first

  • When i scyn photo from pc to iphone, by using cable and selecting iphone on ituens, the photo which stored in my ipone, i am unable to delete some photoand even can not arrange them according to my wish

when I scyn photo from pc to iphone , by using cable and selecting iphone on itunes, the photo which stored in my iphone , i am unable to delete some photo from them and even can not arrange them accoring to my wish, please let me know what to do ?

you can only delete the photos you take on the phone itself as in from camera roll
sync mean syncronize as in make the 2 side the same if you could delete the photos syncronized to your iphone then the nature of what syncronize mean result in the logic step being deleting the photo on your computer too
you get rid of the photo by sync with another dir/ sourse or by moving the photo out of the dir of the computer and then resync

my iphone 4 is stuck on the reboot logo, ive ried holding both home and power to shut it off snd then keep holding home to let you plug it into itunes but it doesnt work. what do i do?

Did you try rebooting the iPad? You will need to have some battery power for this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • HT201328 after unlocking from ATT and resetting iphone 3gs I keep getting the same error message "could not activate phone" neither Apple Store Tech or ATT were able to fix this . Any ideas?? TKS Sandro

after unlocking over the phone from ATT and resetting iphone 3gs I keep getting the same error message "could not activate phone" neither Apple Store Tech or ATT were able to fix this .
Itunes displays a message saying "there is no SIM installed in the phone you're trying to activate" even if there is the same SIM that was working minutes before.
The SIM works on a different phone I tested it.
    Any ideas?? TKS Sandro

“Could Not Activate EDGE” error message Update ...
Well it’s going on day 6 and still sporadic to no EDGE on my iPhone. At one time, it was thought to be a defective iPhone – since my partner’s iPhone works just fine.
After over three hours on the land line with AT&T and Apple, I was sent to the local Apple store for a replacement. Of course, as soon as I walked into the Apple store my iPhone worked just fine. ;-( The local store replaced my iPhone and suggested I go home and activate the phone as a NEW iPhone, that way if there was a bug in my data it would not carry over to the new phone. Did that and well… still sporadic to no EDGE. By the way, I have the Big White “E” to the right of the 5 bars and AT&T .
AT&T said last week they has “Software” issues in my area, but the CSR I talked to did not know what the issues were or if they were the cause of my problems. He did say they would call me back today to see how my iPhone was doing, but alas, no call back.
When I’m next to my partner, trying to access the same feature, his iPhone is just so fast. Mine hangs up, draws out and finally I get the error message, “Could Not Activate EDGE”. I am updated to version “1.1.4(4A102)”. New (refurbished) iPhone direct from Apple.
I remember reading a while back about some problems others had when they upgraded to from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4. I never had those problems, but it sure looks like they may have started. Does anyone remember what the problems with 1.1.4 were, what was done if anything to correct them, and best of all any suggestions?
By the way, this is Seattle, not some small – out of the way place where connection and signal strength is expected to be second rate. Also, I had full function of my iPhone from the day I bought it in June 2007, all the way up to Thursday March 20, at 2120.
    Thanks
    Joe
