Good to see APEX moving up the ranks in terms of popularity.
A very interesting site for those of you based in the UK...

    MK,
If you are currently unemployed, this might be a great time to contribute to the APEX community as a way to further your reputation within this community. I don't mean to say that you have a bad reputation, you have no reputation (from my perspective) within this community. As of now, you've only posted to this forum 6 times. This would be a great time to follow this forum (I use RSS) and answer questions in areas which you have experience. You'll help other APEX developers while at the same time establish yourself as a contributing member of a huge community. It might also be a good time to start a blog if you have a number of interesting solutions to post.
It's pretty easy to "pad" your skills on a resume and many managers have been burned by this. If you can list a link to your blog, or to your profile on OTN where a potential employer can pre-screen your skills, IMHO that definitely sets you apart from every other person out there looking for a job. I know this isn't an immediate answer to your question and I really do hope you find a job soon, but perhaps this idea is part of a long term "employment security" strategy.
    Good luck,
    Tyler

  • Off topic - job market

    Hello
Sorry for the off topic, after all this is a technical forum...
I have been working with Apex for quite a while now and I find it a great tool. I enjoy working with it and I consider myself quite good at it.
However I have concerns about my employability... Its job market seems to be almost non-existent where I live (UK). Even so, Apex seems to be now a mature product, with a growing user base, the Apex forum is one of the Oracle's most popular forums and the IT job market seems to be good here at the moment. Usually all those factors mean a buoyant job market, but it does not seem to be the case with Apex.
I have other skills, and there are quite a few vacancies asking for them. I will not starve but it seems to me that if I want to change job I will have to stop working with Apex, which would be unfortunate for me (and for the community also ;-)
Why is it so? Has anyone got the same impression? Is the Apex job market better in mainland Europe? Any insights welcome...
    Thanks
    Edith

I think there is not a strong demand because it has replaced small development projects , these are usually in house or done by existing IT outsourcing companies
Even though more large developments are being done , it remains a product geared at Access style development , which also has very little job market

  • Job Market in SAP

    Hi Gurus,
Can somebody tell me how is the job market in SAP right now...Has it been affected by recession or is it likely to be affected negatively by global recession like other software jobs.
    Waiting for your replies eagerly.
    Thank you,
    Nazim.

I would tend to agree with you. I originally predicted in another thread from last year that things will start stabalizing and picking up in May 09 again. I think this happened after the statutory reports of large companies which is what I was waiting for, but don't want to put my name to it. It was just a 2 cents...
I don't doubt that SAP implementations create value if implemented properly, but the implementation process is often quite long... so there is a knock-on effect to the job market once the existing projects end.
Additionally, for existing customers, the roll-ins and consolidations over the past years are in advanced stages and central component systems is a big hit as evidence.
I am pretty sure that activating user-exits is dead... Maintaining them is probably still very alive...
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • Getting error while importing the application in Oracle Apex

    Hi,
I am facing an issue while importing an application into my new Oracle Apex installation. Installation was successful with out any issue. I exported an application from my old Apex (version 3.0.0.00.20) and importing the same into new apex (version 3.0.1.00.08). I am getting the following error.
    ============================================================
The requested URL /pls/apex/wwv_flow.accept was not found on this server.
    ============================================================
When I click on import in Application Builder page and then browse the required file it gives the progress saying "Importing File" and after some time it displays the above error.
I tried bouncing the application also and there is not error in alert log.
Could any one please suggest, if there is some problem here. Or my approach is not correct.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Advait Deo

Osacar, I recommend that you try to import the application into your workspace on apex.oracle.com and see what happens. Also, refine the problem statement as much as you can, e.g., you get this error importing "the application" or when importing "any" application. How big is the file you're trying to import? Where did it come from? Can you upload images?

@ AndyH: yeah, what you have suggested also fits well for my requirement... Could you please let me know how can i achieve it...

    Hi All,
Can anyone please let me know how we can get the class name of a page or region in oracle apex? I would also like to know how we get the DOM object ID for particular item.
I appreciate any help on this.

I would also like to know how we get the DOM object ID for particular item.Use firebug or inspect the source code of the rendered page to see the object IDs. Other then then, the typical ID of page items is the name of the item. For regions you can set your own ID.

    suresh.m2015,
It's going to be impossible for anyone in this forum to help with your issue if you don't provide any more detail about your environment and Apex installation. However, from your post it looks like the Apex database objects are missing or invalid.
Did you follow the Apex installation guide step by step? For example, did you run apexins.sql?
It's important to follow the documentation. The script you are running to change the admin user password should not be run until after the Apex installation is complete.

Our organization uses an Oracle database hosted on a Unix platform and one of our data processing outputs is a “stuffer” document that has a barcode, and Unix jobs automatically send the document to a printer.
Is there a way, or does Adobe have a product or solution, to create a PDF version of the document including the barcode, before it’s sent to a printer?

What format is the document that is printed? Or what technology is used to format the printer? There isn't a standard way of doing things in Unix.
