Uk resident calling from Canada to UK whilst visit...

Hi
I live in the UK but will be spending a lot of time between here and Canada. I currently have a suscriprion that allows me to all any Canadian number for unlimited minutes per month, but how does it work if I want to call the UK whilst I'm in Canada?
Would I need to set up another subscription to call the UK from Canada and is that possible?
Also, I know that it's probaby a stupid question, but does Skpe know which country I'm in when I make a call?
Many thanks

Hi,
In order to call UK you need a subscription that covers calls to UK. In your case you would need an additional subscription from: http://www.skype.com/go/subscriptions
Tip: In UK mobile numbers have higher rate, therefore in UK there are 2 types of subscriptions. If you wish to call also mobile numbers then make sure you choose a subscription from: "Landlines and mobiles" tab.
Regarding second question, it doesn't matter where you are calling from. All you need to do is to make sure your subscription covers calling destination.

  • Constant busy or kicked on some US calls from Canada

I've been using Skype for a few months.  I have a year subscription to US mobile and landline calls from Canada.  Two weeks ago I called an US number that had been working perfectly and now all I get is a busy signal.  Other US nubers don't even ring, they kick me back to my account page. Anyone have a fix for this??

Thanks for the information db103 and SpottedCatfish.
Yes,  you are correct receiving calls from Canada while in the United States will be charged from your monthly allowance minutes. If you choose to call Canada (or any other country), you will charged international dialing rates. The cost to call Canada while in the United States is $0.49 cent per minute and if you subscribe to the $4.99 international value plan per month, this will reduce your rates for calling Canada to $0.09 cent per minute. I have listed a link for all international dialing and roaming rates below.

  • Calling from Canada

I am a newbie and confused with the information I have been looking at.  I have been waiting for an Iphone from Verizon, but see that it is using aCDMA as opposed to GSM.  If I am traveling in Canada (primarily) but occasionally to other countries - what are my options.

Customers can use their iPhone 4s for voice, text, and data services (when available) when roaming internationally in more than 40 destinations that have CDMA Networks. For service availability and rate information, use the Global and International Wizard.

  • Blocking calls to Canada from USA

Is there a way to block calls to Canada on certain phone lines?

The only way I can think of is to take off International Calling ability to the specific lines. There is no way to do it in usage controls and certainly no way I can think of VZW doing it for you when asking about a specific country on specific lines.
    Hope all works out,

  • Call to Canada from US

I just received my bill, and a call I made turned out to be to Canada. If you don't look up where an area code is, you very easily could be calling Canada and not know it. Well, that call which was 85 minutes, ended up costing me $41, and an increased Fed universal service charge of over $9. More than doubling my total bill for the month. Nowhere did it show it was a international call until I got the paper bill. Checking my minutes online only showed a grand total of minutes used. There is no breakdown of it anywhere to be found. I am really angry that this happened, and I guess only having myself to blame for not realizing the call was to Canada.

        Hi BPPY,
As a consumer, I realize unexpected charges can be frustrating! Do you make frequent calls to Canada? If so, have you considered our International Value Plan:http://bit.ly/SNKrHo? Or our Plus Canada plans:http://bit.ly/11VJJfo? I am confident this information if helpful. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

  • Stolen iPhone 4 and follow-up Call from Apple

    Hey guys,
My girlfriends iPhone 4 (32GB locked to Rogers) was stolen about a week and a half ago. She had Find My iPhone on it and we used it to lock and clear the phone right away, but since the phone was already turned off we were not able locate it. We get an e-mail the next day from the app saying that the lock and message were sent, which means the person who stole it probably turned it on. We still weren't able to locate the phone using the app so we just assumed they re-formatted the phone, cleared it, and logged out of iCloud. We thought end of story, we lost an iPhone, but there's nothing we could do. We go to an Apple store, tell them the phone was stolen and they proceed to use Find My iPhone to clear and lock the phone again (they say they weren't allowed to brick it and we weren't given the option to report it stolen).
Anyways, fast forward to a week later (night of Monday, Nov 5, 2012). We get a call from apple (call center 512-674-2000). The caller is Betty who works for Apple and she asks us if we have sold an iPhone on kijiji/eBay recently. We tell them that we've actually recently had the phone stolen and ask if someone's returning it. They say not quite, just that someone was tryign to contact apple with the iPhone's serial code. Unfortunately at this point the phone is very low on batter (<10%) so we ask if they can call back at another number. Betty says okay. We don't get a call back.
We call back the apple number that called us, but the call center is closed (it was around 8:15 EST). So we call the Apple Canada Hotline (we're from Toronto). The issue gets escalated to a manager and they're pretty much saying there's no notes on why the call was made. There definately has to be a reason for apple to call us asking if the phone was sold right? They tell us to call the number that called us earlier the following day to see if we can contact Betty who called us earlier. However, they do tell us that they ahve on their record that Betty called us, and prior to that, someone called with an issue about the stolen iPhone's serial code (we had not called in).
So we wait until the next day can call the 512 number. Pretty much we keep getting passed around with people telling us they can't do anything since there's no notes on the file and they can't redirect us to Betty.
My question is: There HAD to be a reason why they called us right? The phone was stolen at a friends house, where we thought we knew everybody. If we can get any information on who the original call was from maybe we can find out who stole the phone? Has anyone had a similar experience or does anyone have any advice on what to do? I'm sure apple knows something, but they are just not telling us. Sorry for the lengthy post, just wanted to get all the details out there! Thanks for any help!

But if an issue is reported using the serial code of the stolen product, could they not tell me what number it was called from?
I understand that they can't do much, but I just wanted to know the original reason why Apple called us in the first place to ask whether we sold the iphone on kijiji or eBay recently.

  • Global temporary table in PL/SQL called from APEX page

I have a global temporary table in a PL/SQL procedure that is called from an APEX page.
The global temp table is populated with data as the procedure runs and then at the end of the procedure I do a create_collection_from_query_b to populate a collection with the data from the temp table. (I do this b/c it is much faster than creating the collection and doing an add_member for each row.)
The problem is that there are no commits in my procedure but I cannot get the bulk insert to work unless I define the temp table as on commit preserve rows.
Can anyone shed any light on this issue.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

My PL/SQL procedure is called from an after submit page process. Does that imply that there is a commit happening after that process is successful?Ultimately, yes.
If the process calls the PL/SQL procedure and the temp table is in the procedure, wouldn't the commit fire after all the PL/SQL code is complete which would be after the bulk insert from the temp table to my collection?Yes, but at any point in the procedure containing code like
    :APEX_ITEM := ...or
select ... into :APEX_ITEM from ...or
    my_procedure(p_in => ..., p_out => :APEX_ITEM, ...);or
apex_util.set_session_state(...);then APEX will commit whilst maintaining session state.
If you don't have any of these events in the procedure, then test to see if the commit is occurring in <tt>apex_collection.create_collection_from_query_b</tt> prior to creation of the collection.

  • RFC Call from ABAP (R3) to Webdynpro EP

    Hi experts,
I have a requirement to initiate a call from an ABAP program on R3 to a standard Portal (Webdynpro) API. Does anyone have any experience with this?
I understand that normally Portal (Webdynpro) applications will make the RFC call to ABAP via the established JCO connection. However there's very limited literature elaborating how the call can be made in the other direction i.e. from ABAP R3 to Portal
Anyone, please kindly advise how, if this can be done. Many thanks!
    Best regards,
    Lionel

    Hi,
I'm trying to make a RFC call from the ABAP program to a built in Java method residing on EP. It is part of a suite of methods provided by the UME engine.
Typically a call is made from a webdynpro program to a SAP ABAP function module. In this case, I'd like to make a call from the SAP ABAP report to the EP method.
    Best regards,
    Lionel

  • External Web Service call from Sandbox Solution in SharePoint 2010

Can anyone from this forum can tell me how to call an external web service from Sandbox solution?
It would of great help as got stuck on it for a long time.
Note:- Cannot use Silverlight and JQuery to call web service from client side.Cannot use full trust proxy.

    Hi Dibyendu,
Sorry for delay but fact that we can not call webservice in sand box solution(It's does not support).
The reason behind of this sand box solution support only full trust code.
One or more assemblies referenced by the XmlSerializer cannot be called
      from partially trusted code.
When you create a reference to a Web service, Microsoft Visual Studio®.NET creates and places one or more objects in your assembly to store the argument data passed to the method(s) in the Web service. These objects are serialized using the XmlSerializer class
when you invoke one or more of the methods in the Web service. By default, if your assembly is strongly named and resides in the BIN directory, callers with partial trust cannot access objects within that assembly. When you make the call to the Web service
method, the XmlSerializerdetects that there are partially trusted callers on the callstack (i.e. your assembly) and prevents the serialization from taking place even though the object resides in the same assembly.
