UK: SIM-only deals

I have ordered from Apple (shipped) so will need a micro SIM.
Where are people getting their SIMs from? Everyone I phone up says they haven't got them yet.
Andy

O2. I set up a new account and had the micro sim in my hand two days before the original launch day here. Sim-only plans from £15 a month.

  • Sim-only deal with an unlocked iphone 4s

If I insert a sim-only deal into an unlocked iphone 4s, does this lock to the phone? This is what I was told by someone in the Apple store.

No.  As long as the phone is sold as officially unlocked then it should not lock and you should be able to keep changing sim cards.  It is only if you buy a phone that is contract or sim free that it will lock.  Phones sold as unlocked should not then lock.

  • Wrong price for sim only plan

Hi can someone please help me,ive just joined EE from tmobile and got a sim only deal which i signed up-  500 mb data, 500 min, unlimited texts should cost £ 12.99 but im having it for £7.50 ,but when i looked on the EE app its showing up as £5.00 loyalty which says i have to pay £7.99 i have a copy of the online chat as proof it said £7.50

    Hi,
If this is a billing error then you will need to contact EE to discuss this further. This is just a customer forum.

how come? Documents also have on hand to buy as photo and check the box
So what?  The second-hand shop you bought it from didn't follow the right procedures.  You also didn't follow the right procedures to make sure that iPhone was not in Activation Lock.  It's like buying a car for cash but not getting the title signed over to you.  It's not your car if you don' have the title.  And that's not legally your iPhone if the previous owner's Apple ID is still registered to the device for Find My iPhone/Activation Lock.
Only a proof of purchase from the ORIGINAL retail store would do any good at all.  Return the device to where you bought it and demand your money back.  If they refuse, either get a lawyer and/or turn in the device to local police.  If you're in possession of stolen property, then the cops won't care about where you got it from.

  • Changing my sim only plan

Hi,  My contract is ending/renewing on 14th July and I am on SIM only plan, I was wondering if I can change/upgrade to another SIM only plan at my renewal date?  And keep my number.

Yes, you can upgrade anytime after 45 days before end of term. Text UP to 150 to confirm.

  • Gave my iPhone 4 to my husband. He got himself a sim only contract and put SIM card in phone. Phone is not reading SIM card and has no service. What should I do?

Gave my old iPhone 4 to my husband. He has now got himself a sim only contract, but SIM card is not registering with phone and showing no service. What can I do?

Take it to the Cell provider's store and let them do it.
Just make sure the phone is completely wiped.

  • Sim only contract instead of upgrade

Hi all,  I have finished my 24 month contract and was wondering, instead of upgrading, if I was to simply buy a new SIM ONLY PLAN online, would this automatically cancel my current contract and port my existing number across? Regards

I think you can actually upgrade to a SIM-Only plan & it will do all those things. Otherwise you will have to do them explicitly.

  • Difficulty in changing to a SIM only tariff...

Hi EveryoneApologies for the length of this post....and I hope it makes sense...I've been an o2 customer for many years (in fact when it was btcellnet!)...anyway. I got an iphone 5 on a 24 month contract which finished around September/October 2014. I didnt upgrade to a new phone or change my contract, i let it slip and carried on paying the same monthy amount (as if I was still paying for my 'phone). I decided to investigate, only a few days ago, what options I had to change my tarrif and decided that I wanted to stay with o2, keep my same number and go for SIM only on a rolling monthly tarriff (not a 24 month SIM only)...sounded like something I could manage to do (Im not that techy). I signed in to my account, found the right SIM only tarrif for me, then wanted to double check that I could make the change without changing my number so i had a live chat with am o2 Guru. I thought my requirements had been understood, but it would seem not....a couple of days later i received a new SIM in the post, which was a pay monthly SIM and with a new number...NOT what I'd asked for...so I had a live chat with another Guru last night, this time it definately seemed that my request was understood , saying that i could keep my number and SIM that I already have in my phone and they would complete the change from pay monthly to rolling 30 day SIM only within 24 hours....it has now been more than 24 hours and I have had no service on my mobile since last night....it's too late to have another live chat (it's offline)... Ive checked my account on line and it shows my number and that I am still on my same pay monthly tarrif...am i being impatient ? I don't know what to do? Thanks

Here's the link to swap your sim....http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk/Additionally if you need to contact customer services we would suggest you phone and speak to someone from this next link.Probably live chat haven't dealt with your request fully http://www.o2.co.uk/contactus

  • Cany you buy an iPhone sim only in Italy?

I'm in GB and am regular traveller to Italy, but of course roaming and data charges cost a fortune.
I thought wouldn't it be good if I could just replace my UK O2 contract SIM card when I'm in Italy with a PAYG linked to TIM or Vodaphone. Can't see anything obvious on their websites, but I'm still struggling with Italian.

No, you cannot. The UK iPhone is locked to O2 and won't work with a non-O2 SIM.

  • IPhone unlock on Sim only contract?

Hi all, couldnt find a topic similar from searching so trying a post.
I bought my iPhone 4 last year directly from an Apple store. At this time I was on an orange contract for an HTC. However the phone was terrible so I switched to an iPhone.
I however that the phone wouldnt be locked to Orange because it was actually not a subsidised price phone from an orange dealer? I want to switch my contract now to a much cheaper on as Orange are raising prices.
Should a phone that was bought from Apple at full £500 have been locked to the carrier in the first place?
    Thanks,

They should be able to. Also, if you call AppleCare they should be able to tell you the unlocked status of your iPhone. A friend of mine did exactly that just last week for his iPhone 3GS. Didn't cost him anything for the support call. Unfortunately I don't know which number he called, although it was a UK based number.
