Ultra 10 440 MHz cpu pin issue

Hello
I have an Ultra 10 machine with an Einstein motherboard (bought this one so I could fit the 440 MHz cpu).
I noticed a bad pin on the daughter board (system board) and tried to sort it but it broke.
I was wondering if any one could point me to the pin out of the board? I have tried the service manual as another post suggested but could not find it.
The pin is on the larger connector block, top left hand pin I believe. It is the one next to the round notch at the end.
I have tried doing a bodge on the pin, via connecting a bit of wire to the motherboard side and hoping it would make contact with the cpu board, so far nothing.
My 333Mhz cpu works like a charm.
Paul

Cheers Michael
That is exactly what I was lookin for.
I think it is pin 180 (VDD) that is broken so in theory I should be able to hook it up to pin 179 which is a VDD as well.
My only worry is if I am reading the table correctly, in the pdf pin 1 and 2 are at the top, so I am presuming when you look down on the motherboard (ram at the top and cpu at the bottom) that pin 1 and 2 are on the right and pin 179 and 180 are on the left. Is this correct?

  • 440 MHz CPU in ultra 5

    Hi all,
I got a problem with my Ultra 5 computer I was hoping someone would know something about.
Originally I had a 270 MHz CPU which I changed with a 440 MHz CPU I purchased on Ebay. I installed the 440 MHz CPU and turned the computer on. However the banner during startup says I have a 333 MHz CPU installed and not 440 MHz as it should be.
I checked the markings on the CPU and it is definitely 440 MHz.
I have a feeling the motherboard I have is not compatible with the 440 MHz CPU since other posts suggest this might be the case (motherboard manufacturing code is 375-000902). Does anyone know if this is definitely true? If it is true, does anyone know how I can get the CPU working at 440 MHz with this motherboard?

    Uncino22,
There is no guarantee that any individual 375-0009 systemboard
will ever work with the Ultra5/Ultra10 440MHz cpu module.
    Sun never tested that combination.
By the time the 440MHz cpu began to ship, the board had already been replaced
with newer models for those systems. (375-0066, 375-0079, etc)
If it works, you win. If it doesn't work, there's nothing you can do
    to force it to function.
For an example of a similar issue ...
I own two of the same model PC motherboard from the same manufacturer.
They are Slot-1 cpu form factor for Pentium-II and Pentium-III cpus.
They have Intel's old 440BX chipset on it
My boards have the same BIOS firmware from the board manufacturer.
    Intel's design specification for the 440BX chipset's bus speed was for 66MHz and/or 100MHz.
I can overclock one of those boards to 133MHz for certain P-III modules, and it is stable.
It will run 24x7 and give no issues. (Solaris 10x86 just 'flies' on it.)
If I try the same cpu on the other board, it is so unstable it refuses to POST.
The second board will just not run, except at the supported 66MHz or 100MHz bus speeds.
There's nothing I can do to those PC boards to change how they might run.
There's nothing you can do to your 375-0009 board, either.
The only things you can consider is replace it with a newer model systemboard,
such as an Ebay special, or just don't use a 440MHz cpu module.

  • OVM3.2.2 Unexpected CPU Pinning for Win2008EntR2

    Hi all,
I installed OVM 3.2.2 on HP Gen 8 server with 16 cores for testing. Then :
    1. Windows 2008 r2 Enterprise edition is installed.
    2. No CPU pinning was set
    3. When I tried to check the CPU allocation with the "xm vcpu-list" command, the information show that the Windows guest was pinned to core 16-31 while dom0 pinned to core 0-19
    4. The vm.cfg file was checked. No pinning setting found
    5. The information about the OVS and the guest is attached.
The setup was originally for testing/learning CPU pinning of the Windows guest to 4 cpu cores (8 vCPU) and come across the above scenario.
Is it normal that the Windows guest pinned to core 16-31 unexpectedly? and why?
Can I rectify it by adding the clause "cpus=0-31" to the vm.cfg ?
Any official recommandation for the dom0 CPU allocation? more appropriate the delicate certain number of core for the exclusive use of dom0?
    Thanks!

What setting should I use for Abbey Road drums (i.e. multi-output, stereo, etc)?  Getting a cpu overload issue.  I have a macbook pro, 4 gb ram, running Logic Pro 9.  Just 3 tracks of drums and a few real instrument tracks.  Can't find a guide in the manual for either Kontakt or Logic.  Thanks in advance!

    Hi
AR drums are complete resource (CPU) hogs. They work better if you turn off as many of the AR internal plugins as you can.
See section 4 (?) of the AR manual, which you can find within Kontakt (In the library area of Kontakt click hold the small "i" on the right of the "AR drummer" Library).
Alternatively, your only solution is to increase the I/O buffer in Preferences:Audio, with the associated increase in latency

The performance issue occurs when there is volume of data in the queues/topics. As we continue to deploy additional HL7 projects (usually about 6 interfaces), the CPU increases until it reached 100%.

    Hi,
I noticed this behavior with the Alert + SNMP Agents installed but not configured. In this situation, the SNMP agent generates traps for all events, leading to high CPU using, even when nothing was processed. Are you in a similar case?

  • BT Cloud PIN Issues

Having a frustrating time here, and trying, but mostly failing to be positive about a change I did not ask for.
So I've played ball and asked for a Cloud PIN (err why? It's BT offering it me in the first place, and BT has all my account info already!)
Nevertheless the letter arrived yesterday, no hints about PIN expiry. I try to set it up today and it fails.
Firstly telling me the PIN has expired and/or is incorrect (no, I can get 4 digits right) then eventually telling me I need to wait 24 hours before I can try again due to incorrect attempts. Brilliant.
So, simple questions, hoping this will not turn into an epic (that's after spending 10 pointless minutes on the phone when I was called over this one)
-Does the PIN have a validity period, if so how long, and does it take into account the tragically pathetic service offered by the Royal Mail?
-If I try again in 24 hours or so, and it still fails, what do I do next?
    thanks in advance

    Updates...
Even though I have not been able to reach a webpage where I could request a new PIN, a PIN letter arrived in the post 20 minutes ago. I duly tried to log on to www.bt.com/mypin, logon accepted,  but instead of taking me to a page where I could enter a PIN, it immediately went to the error "you have exceeded your incorrect attempts limit. please try again in 24hrs". Puzzled.
Called the suggested number (not the one I called yesterday as per the details in the PIN letter(s)) After a lengthy hold I spoke to someone and explained what has happened. Eventually I was able to get the point over that I was still getting an error, even though I had not had the chance to actually input the PIN.
On providing my PIN and account info, the person then confirmed my PIN was actually active, and the suggestion is that the premature error is based on my old PIN issues, and to try once more, with new PIN in 24 hours.
I'm expecting a reasonable hangover in 24 hours time, as I'm on a stag night tonight, so I really hope I don't have to get on the phone again tomorrow

  • PXI 8156 166 Mhz CPU upgrade?

I am looking at installing Win 2000 onto a PXI 8156 controller with a 166 Mhz CPU, so is there a CPU grade path from NI for this controller? Or will it just take a 233 Mhz Pentium or even a 333 AMD, or will the mother board need to be changed? Has any one swapped the CPU successfully?

    Hello,
We have newer controllers that ship with Windows 2000. The new family of controllers is NI 8171, and it comprises three (3) different controllers: PXI-8176, PXI-8175 and PXI-8174.
Each controller has different specifications. The processor speed ranges between 566MHz and 1.26GHz, and you have a minimum of 20Gb hard-drive. We fully support these controllers under Windows 2000, among other Operating Systems. If you are interested in using Windows 2000 for your PXI system, one of these controllers would be the best upgrade option.
You could try to upgrade the p
rocessor of your PXI-8156 controller from 166MHz to a higher frequency. However, because we do not support upgrading the processors or motherboards of our boards, we have not made any tests on this so there is not any information about it.
In the Applications Engineering department, we have installed Windows 2000 in a PXI-8156B controller, which has a 233MHz Processor. See KnowledgeBase 261E93YQ : How Do I Upgrade My PXI Controller to Windows 2000? for more information.
    Hope this helps,

  • Analyzing the "idle CPU whine" issue

    Hi All,
I have been waiting for a solution for the "idle CPU whine" issue since I returned my MacBook Pro because of the whine.
First of all, we need to filter out all the posts where a person says that he does not have the whine but has not heard a whining unit. So, we need to focus only on experiences of people who hear the whine or do not hear whine but have heard the whine in another unit.
Secondly, I think that the build week number has no significance on the whine issue. More interesting would be to have people sending here the last part of their serial number, which supposedly is some kind of configuration code, and stating if they have the idle CPU whine or not. Maybe we could get some new information out of that.
Do also state, if you have actually compared a whining and a non-whining unit. If you have not compared the no-whine opinions are useless as they are merely opinions without a reference to a faulty unit.

This was posted on MacFitIt today (www.macfixit.com)
" Mike, I thought you might find this reply from Apple regarding my contacting them with a noise issue with the MacBook Pro. I noticed that if I were to disable a processor core the noise immediately stopped and this is Apple's reply.
    Eric"
    Begin forwarded message:
"Hi Eric, I heard back from engineering and was informed that this normal behavior for the MacBook Pro. When the processors are idle a capacitor on the logic board will take on additional power loads causing the capacitor to vibrate, thus creating the noise. Turning off the second processor and/or using better energy saver settings reduces the load on the capacitor causing the noise not to occur.

  • High CPU & Memory issues - Excessive and unnecessary CPU usage in Firefox for Windows (see also questions1003966 & 998289)

I am using the latest version of Firefox, 32.0.1, on an HP Pavilion dv7-4141sa laptop computer, running Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit. There should be more than enough power here to run a browser without any problem, yet the computer is regularly being overloaded by the browser's resource usage.
I am currently measuring typical average CPU usage of 45% - with the browser minimised. That is to say, Firefox is not doing any browser jobs - it is not drawing on the screen - but it is using the most CPU of any process currently running. Why?
I am an ex-software engineer, and my understanding of current application development technology is limited, but I think I can say with some confidence that many techniques and software architectures exist that enable the suspension of program activity, or at least its reduction to a very low bare minimum, when the program is not actually carrying out its design function, which is in this case to draw pictures of website data on a screen.
There is a very serious problem here, one which means that I cannot run Firefox all the time, but have to kill it when I am not actively browsing, otherwise other applications cannot run to their full capacity. This is a great pity, because I have committed a lot of effort to making Firefox my primary web tool. It manages all my many bookmarks, contains my secure password manager (LastPass), manages my web security (via NoScript, AdBlock, and FlashBlock), just for a start.
Before any well-meaning moderators or other commenters start down the usual trail of "have you done this, tried that, disabled the other", I should point out that I have followed all the advice I can find, with no positive outcome. This computer is running a fresh installation of Windows, and a fresh installation of Firefox. At the moment I am running a new test Firefox profile.
The latest version of Adobe Flash, 14.0.0.179, is installed but disabled. When it is enabled and in use, Firefox's CPU usage seems high over longer periods, but overall there is little difference. It doesn't look as though the problem can be laid at Flash's door. A few other add-ins are installed, mainly those mentioned above, and Firefox is skinned with LavaFox v2-Green, but I have previously started from a clean installation, which has made little difference after an initial period during which things seemed to be better. Turning off or disabling various add-ons has made no discernible difference.
Just now I turned Flash on, and after a long period with Firefox minimised, Resource Monitor reported Firefox at 8% average CPU and FlashPlayerPlugin at 0.32%. While running a small video, RM reports FlashPlayerPlugin at about 45% and Firefox at 8%. After the video, Flash went back down to around 0.4%, and after a bit more browsing Firefox went to around 17% minimised. There seems little rhyme or reason here, except that Flash does not seem to be the culprit, although Firefox does seem to consume less when fewer tabs are actually active, as you might expect. I just refreshed more than a dozen tabs, and now Firefox is at 30%, but still not back up to the higher figures. Weird.
The CPU usage does vary a lot around the average, but 30% is still a lot for a program that shouldn't be doing anything above the minimum status maintenance, and still puts it at the top of my Top Process Monitor list. (Right now it's gone back up to 45%, without my using it in any way).
I have Telemetry turned on, so presumably Mozilla is recording some of the relevant data.
This is a very serious fault, which is more or less reproducible and which a lot of people seem to be experiencing. Probably more people have it than realise, because most users will not know anything other than that their computer slows down for some non-obvious reason; they may just think it's something to do with the computer itself, not knowing how to use the Resource Monitor and interpret the results.
Oddly, the problem does not seem to occur when running Firefox under Linux Mint 17, where the response is snappy and the CPU usage ostensibly low; I am going to look at this in more detail shortly.
I am not posting here for advice, but for information and as a form of bug report which hopefully other users will see. It will hopefully spare them a lot of effort and time in trying a lot of recommended "solutions" which will not work. The problem is inherent in the software, and can be solved only by Mozilla.
I am willing to supply any diagnostic data requested; as I said above, I have also turned on "Telemetry". However, I will not be trying out any more reinstallation/new-profile/add-on disable-enable-delete cycles unless I am asked to for very specific reasons. Please do not suggest courses of action which have already been mentioned elsewhere on this forum. I have tried them all.
The situation is very disappointing, but I have confidence that the Firefox developers will pin down the fault eventually and engineer a satisfactory solution that makes it viable to leave Firefox open all the time. Even with that restriction, it's still far better than the alternatives.

I share jmward's frustration. This is not a bug report so much as a request for a badly needed feature, ie the ability to have Firefox be able to tell us which tabs on which windows are eating time so we can target them. There are some very poorly written web pages out there which just plain loop while making no updates or inconsequential updates on the page.
This is not a OS problem; jmward runs Windows and I run Linux but we have the same issue. It is not a question of Firefox plugins or extensions, or even viruses; I have a new, clean Linux install but have the same problem on both my regular Firefox AND on a FRESH install of the latest Firefox (35.0.1) which has *NO* non-default plugins or extensions.
Here is an example of a web page which will eat 100% of one CPU's time:
    http://patch.com/massachusetts/arlington/arlington-woman-allegedly-attacks-neighbor-snow-blower-0
I will attach 3 images to back up my claim. All of the images show my dark blue system monitor (gkrellm) superimposed on the web page. The top graph shows CPU time. I have 4 CPUs in my machine, so 25% means the web page is eating 100% of one CPU equivalent.
The first image shows the load of the offending page with elevated CPU usage along with the download net activity on eth0, but the CPU activity does not stop when the download activity is over.
The second images show the steady state 100% CPU equivalent of this page just sitting there apparently doing nothing. It IS, however, doing at least two different things. I know from my regular Firefox where I have "Remove It Permanently" installed that if I remove the the little weather indicator in the upper right of the offending page that CPU utilization drops to about 40% of one CPU equivalent. If I use RIP to remove everything else right down to a bare screen that 40% utilization stays until I delete the tab.
The third image shows the CPU utilization drop to zero when I delete the tab holding the offending page.
Now I will add a note here: If the offending page is NOT the top tab in a window then it stops eating time. The offender will also stop eating time if I minimize the window. However if I have another window up but leave the offender up on top in its window it continues to eat time even tho I am looking at another window. The offender will continue to eat time even if its window is completely covered by another window, and it will also eat time if I switch to another desktop.
I will often have half a dozen windows open, and there are many pages out there which will suck endless CPU time. Unless I want to open up a new tab on each window before I leave it there is likely to be some tab on top eating time uselessly. Get a couple of those going and Firefox becomes sluggish and can even stop responding for many seconds.
I guess I not only want to have Firefox tell us which tabs are eating time, but I would also like it if Firefox would stop giving CPU time to any tab which is not visible because it is covered by some other window and/or it is on a desktop which is currently not showing. If you can stop a tab's CPU usage by reason of tab-not-showing then you should also be able to stop its CPU usage when the window is covered or on the not-top desktop. Indeed is there any reason to not schedule absolute CPU utilization priority to the visible tab on the window with focus and give time to the other tabs only when the visible tab isn't using time?
My final thought on this is that I have had Firefox SO tied up sometimes that I swear their are web pages which are eating time even tho they are not the top tab. I regret that I do not have an example to show you. But Firefox grinds to a complete halt on a regular basis, and that is not acceptable. I am a programmer with long experience in multi-threaded programs so I *know* there is no reason you cannot do better. If there were another browser around which had the commitment to privacy which Firefox has I would probably switch out of shear annoyance. :-(

  • Sun ultra 80 Elite 3d hardware issue.Won't boot

    Good day,
I'm trying to boot a ultra 80 elite 3D.The memory's are the same.It used to work until I added an extra CPU(same Rev.).The machine powers on then after 30 second I get a low beep sound and thats it,nothing appens :(
    Is there something im missing?
    thanks in advance,
    Mart.

    Hello Mart,
please review the keyboard plug, these pins bent very easily.
There are occasions when a direct-connect keyboard can help,
e.g. when the system was powered down by power management and there is no key-switch to power-on ...
STOP-A is basically a BREAK (use ALT+B in TeraTerm Pro to generate this signal).
During POST the LEDs of the direct-attached keyboard show the current status of POST.
and there are times when it is best to remove it and go with
the console connection, off the TTYa port.
The early phase of POST is only visible on the console (serial, RSC, LOM, ALOM), because the display adapter (integrated or add-in board) isn't initialized yet.
If a monitor doesn't support the current display mode, the monitor doesn't sync and the ability to change the mode via serial console is very valuable.
Sometimes reverting to the default OBP settings is required. Either use STOP-N with a direct attached keyboard or BREAK via console and then
    set-defaults
    setenv auto-boot? false
    reset-all
As mentioned before, not properly seated memory modules can cause this hang.

  • Help with Mainstage 3.1 CPU overload issue

I was using Kontakt 5, UVI Workstation and Pianoteq 5 in MainStage 3 without any issues.
Since I updated to MS 3.1, The CPU is always above 100% !!! I am facing audio dropouts and it is absolutely impossible to play a show
Is anyone else facing the same issue? Any tips to help reduce CPU overload will be helpful.
I have Contact and UVI workstation running from an external hard disk. I thought that might be the issue but i tried with a keyboard template set in MS 3.1 and still while playing CPU usage shoots to 100% plus!
    I am on a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013), 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.

Try to get the Mainstage 3.0.4 from a timemachine backup.
Try to update all your programs like pianotec.
For me, 3.1 feels better concerning timing/ latency. This might cause more stress for the processors.
My system i7 2,2 GHz is always getting hot, fans go crazy. There's a limit: Better than 64 Samples buffer is not possible.
To be serious: A real Piano needs  0,25ms to produce a sound. We have to deal with 4ms. That's bad. So you could increase buffersize to 128 and try playing? It makes no big difference if you play the poor 4ms ore poor 6ms for example. In every case we are far away from the real thing.
Check, if you activated the "savety buffer" checkbox in audiodriver window.
If you can't find 3.0.4., you could try to reduce the installed channelstrips in your patches. Effects in concert level should be reduced. Evt. you have Efx in busses that are not needed in most patches. So cancel them in concertlevel and install them in selected patches.
I replaced a spacedesigner reverb with an reverb outside the system, it's processed from the interface. Same with a chorus.
I tested a newer MacbookPro retina, that was not better than mine. The difference was, it produced little dropouts every 10 seconds.
Hopefuly there will be a update for 3.1 soon.
And be serious: Before 3.1 you could play a show without dropouts, but was it fun? Mainstage urgently needs better latency capabilities, generally.

  • KT4 Ultra (MS-6590) USB controller issues?

Okay, here's another for you guys to ponder....
I bought a 256MB flash drive from Walmart a year or so ago, and it works great with every system I've ever pluggged it into, except my KT4 Ultra. No matter which USB port I plug it into, it's extremely slow to respond and never gets beyond Unknown device, with most times not even getting that far. In many cases it just hangs out there from the socket and looks pretty with no effect whatsoever. I eventually gave up fighting with it, figuring it to be a WallyWorld hardware incompatibility issue.
Tonight I got a 2GB flash drive from OfficeMax and was somewhat dismayed to see it had the exact same reaction to the KT4 MB. I have unistalled all the USB devices and controllers and re-installed with the most up to date drivers, and I've made sure that the USB settings in BIOS are all enabled, all to no effect.
I have several other USB devices (Mouse, keyboard, Canon Printer, Dazzle Video Creator, Wingman Formula Racing Wheel, and various external USB harddrives that all work with this system. I have also had friends bring their flashDrives over and theirs plug in and work fine. ANyone know what the heck is the problem with the ones that I buy?
    here they are:
    Walmart SDUFDW-256
OfficeMax SanDisk cruzer micro 2.0GB SDCZ6-2048RB

    Sounds like pin 10 issue

  • MSI K9A2 PLAT/AMD 9850 BE/ CPU Ratio issue

    Stats
    AMD-9850 BE
MSI-K9A2 plat v1.0/Bios 1.3(have given 1.4 and 1.6 a try and it does not fix the issue)
    PSU-Apevia Warlock 900w
    ATI 4870
    4gigs(2 sticks) OCZ-DDR2 1066
    Windows Vista 64-SP1
My issue is that my CPU ratio will not change the speed of my current CPU clock in BIOS(or real time CPUZ).  The stock CPU ratio for an AMD 9850 BE is 12.5.  I can change it to 13 (ect) and save and reboot but it will not change the CPU clock, however the cell menu shows it at x13 2600 MHz.  Its almost as if the ratio is locked and it should not be.  I can lower the Ratio to 12 changing the CPU clock to 2.4 so it is working, in a way.  When I gave bios 1.6 a try the options for CPU ration only went up to 12.5(stock).  I am starting to think that I got a locked 9850 when it came in a 9850BE box!!!   Is there a MB setting I am missing or anything?  This is starting to drive me nuts.
Any help would be great!! thank you
    PS
AOD also shows all options to change CPU Ratio grayed out.... Could having D.O.T.3 Step settings disabled mess this up?
Is There something that has to be physically set to allow this on the MB?... Which would be a 1st for me?
