Ultra 10 - invalid system frequency

Hi all,
I am encountering some hardware problems with an Ultra 10 workstation and just wanted to see if anyone has had the same problem or can confirm my suspicions.
The system boots fine, but shortly after will crash to the ok prompt. When the boot command is issued, the system goes down and doesn't come back up. Power off/on does nothing at this point - black screen... however if I turn the power off and let it sit for a while, it will boot back up once powered on. Today the system froze on boot, but had a warning message appear this time:
WARNING: Invalid System Frequency
I'm thinking its a bad processor, but I haven't found much on this. Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi,
I think it can be the BIOS ie the nvram
Press the STOP key while powering up the system.
Try will reset / restart the bios process.
Careful to take down all your setting as this might reset all your bios settig to default
Best of luck.

  • System frequency on a Satellite A100-01L notebook should always be high

    Hello,
Because I am a battlefield gamer there is a speed problems with my notebook.
It is a Satellite A100-01L notebook with 1.73 GHz normal system tact. (2 GByte RAM, 120 GByte HD).
The system frequency changes between 800 MHz (without hard job...) and 1.73 GHz (if it seems to be necessary). In the system BIOS its possible to select a 800 MHz (named slow ') or a dynamic clock speed (called: 'dynamic' modus).
My question is: was it possible to set the system clock always to 1.73 GHz?
    Thank you.

Hm, usually there should be also an option "High" or something like "Always High". So, I suggest you to perform a bios update and then to check if such an option is available.
Otherwise you should look into the toshiba powersaver and make sure that everthing is on maximum.

  • Import rules, error message "Invalid system"

    Hi,
When importing rules under Rule Architect - Import rules, error message "VBS is invalid system" . In the configuration tab we have system  and System Name defined as VBS, test connection successful.
Why is it giving an error message VBS is invalid system? Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Sri

    Hi,
Is it rule import after taking an export from other system? In that case, make sure destination system name doesn't contain any space in it.
Also, make sure text and auth Objects are uploaded for VBS system before doing rules import.

  • Portege 660CDT "Invalid System Disk Error"!!!

I just purchased a Used 660CDT and placed a new hard drive in it. Now I can not load an OS Due to This Error "Invalid System Disk". I have tried to Boot from my XP Cd but just the same. I have attempted to boot from a Norton Disk and nothing as well.. I have no clue what is wrong..
I have made sure that the Bios is set to start with the Drive first and not the HDD.
I would like to use this system someday, but right now I dont see it happening.
If anyone can help I would thank you greatly.
    Thank you
    Robert

    Hi Robert
As far as I know this oldie can handle just with 1,3 GB HDD. How much capacity has a new HDD?
Unfortunately it is not easy to say what the problem is because who knows what you do exactly and which OS you want to use. Just for info. This old Portege is delivered with W95 and you should try to use the same OS.
"Invalid System Disk error means that the Windows Setup was unable to copy the system files to the hard disk.
By the way, check Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU and under archive you will find lot useful stuff for this old notebook.
    Good luck!

It is very important that you post the product name or product number of your notebook and the version of the installed BIOS here in your thread.
    How to identify your notebook.
Remove the battery and look in the compartment where the battery was installed. You should see a printed part number and a product name. Please post one or both of them (with all alphanumeric characters here).
It also helps if you post the country of purchase
I will pass that information to an internal HP contact as soon as you post it to see if we can get that resolved for you.

  • Risk analysis failed: Exception from the service : Invalid System

I'm trying to get the risk analysis performed for CUP requests.  When I'm in the process of creating a request, and I add roles to the request and then click on the risk analysis button, I get the above error.
I checked the URI that I've included in the Risk Analysis section of the configuration and I believe it is correct:
    http://<server>:<port>/VirsaCCRiskAnalysisService/Config1?wsdl&style=document
I've selected 5.3 web service, and I have provided a user ID that has admin rights.
What do you think is the reason this error is being thrown?
The error in the log is:
    2009-11-19 15:04:31,821 [SAPEngine_Application_Thread[impl:3]_39] ERROR com.virsa.ae.core.BOException: Exception from the service : Invalid System

    Thanks,
    Santosh

    Frank,
Thanks for your response.  I was thinking along these lines already and so I have tried to do as you suggest.  However it didn't work and the log indicated that it didn't like my connector name (even though the connector name is now the same as in RAR).
Caused by: com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Failed to resolve JCO destination name 'SANDBOX' in the SLD. No such JCO destination is defined in the SLD.
However, I looked at one of the online post installation checklists for CUP and I gathered that it might be necessary to have the JCo itself renamed at the backend to reflect the name used in RAR, and that should populate into my connector list within CUP (when you click on the magnifying glass).
I'm waiting to try that out, but I'm not sure about any secondary impact of making a change to the JCo name.
Let me know what you think about that move.
    Thanks,
    Santosh

  • Invalid system disk

    I
bought a used toshiba satillite a10-s127,  with no hard drive  or operating system.  I bought
a hard drive, and I want to install Ubuntu on it.  but when it boots all I get is a message that says Invalid system disk.  I can get to bios but that is all.  Any suggestion?

Assuming that you bought a compatible hard drive and that it is jumpered as Master (cable select drives do not work), then it sounds like the system is trying to boot from the hard drive rather than the CD.  It is also possible the the system doesn't have the capability of booting from CD, in which case you would have to boot from a floppy with CD drivers and install from there.

I've been trying my best to like the SV Assistant, but so far, I'm not finding it very friendly.

  • Thinkpad T440s BIOS update via PXE fails with "invalid system disk"

    Hi,
I'm trying to boot via PXE to the BIOS 2.24 update ISO image because the T440s comes without a DVD drive. The Thinkpads are running RHEL 6.5 workstation installed. I'm using syslinux 6.02 and the following menu entry:
    label lenovo_t440s
menu label Lenovo Thinkpad T440s BIOS 2.24 Update
        kernel memdisk
        append initrd=lenovo/t440s/gjuj11us.iso iso
The ISO gets loaded via TFTP and seems to boot, but then an error message appears:
    Loading boot sector... booting...
    Lenovo Group Limited
    Invalid system disk
Replace the disk, and then press any key.
The Thinkpads come with the following SSD drive: SAMSUNG MZ7TD256HAFV-000L9.
Anyone had luck with updating BIOS via PXE boot?
We also have Thinkpads T430s. There the BIOS update ISO image loads, displays the menu, but when one presses "update firmware" then it freezes.
    Regards,

Same behaviour when I try without PXE and load memdisk and ISO file directly via GRUB using this entry in /boot/grub/grub.conf:

    root (hd0,1)
    kernel /memdisk iso
    initrd /gjuj11us.iso

  • Win XP will not install on K9N4 Ultra based system, please help!

Hello, i was hoping some1 could help me with a problem ive been trying to sort out for the past week or so.  After buying and building a new system i havent been able to get Windows XP to install, the setup formats and copies the initial files correctly then restarts the computer for the first time, the Windows logo then displays on the screen but after that the screen goes blank and nothing happens, the HD led flashes regularly but nothing else happens.  Ive tried installing with both XP home and pro, neither worked, installing Vista works without any problems. I have tried using the Sata drivers from the motherboard CD and from MSI website but that doesnt make any difference, ive also checked the CPU temp which at idle is 25C.  Ive tried pretty much everything i can think of without buying extra components to try which i am reluctant to do. On one occasion XP did install but at the time i was trying to install to the second hard drive with a failed install still on the first hard drive, thinking that whatever was causing the problem had been solved i then formatted both drives to do reinstall so that i wouldnt have to screw around with the boot record manually, ive since tried recreating this situation but it hasnt worked when i tried it a second time.  Ive tried installing with only one hard drive installed with a freshly made partition and full format and it still did not work.
    My specs are:
    MSI K9N4 Ultra-F
    AMD AM2 X2 3800+
    Corsair DDR2 667Mhz 2 DIMMS 1Gb each
    MSI Geforce 7300GT 256Mb
    Seagate Barracude 7200.9 Sata2 hard disks (2) 250Gb each
    450W Win Power PSU
There is also a Creative Sound blaster audigy sound card and a samsung DVD RW, nothing else is connected.
The only thing that i could think might be a problem is the PSU which is a pretty cheap one, also only has 20 pin and 4 pin connecters (both are connected) but i was under the impression that this would be ok.
If anyone has any ideas or knows something i dont about why this isnt working with XP please let me know.
    Thanks

Have you checked the memory timings in BIOS Setup?  At one time MSI used to just get them wrong and I recall having to set DDR CL to 3 (correct for the DIMMs I had), instead of the 2.5 it chose - no idea on DDR2 though but check that your Corsair specs cross-check with what's used.  Is the Sound Blaster Audigy installed?  If so try taking it out and go into BIOS Setup and Load Optimized Defaults, then disable all the "fluff" which is not absolutely necessary for a basic install, like on-board audio, ethernet, unused IDE/SATA channels, FireWire(?) etc.  You want to get down to a minimum required Windows driver set and if that helps, start adding things back one by one.  Also check your mbrd seating for shorts and the CPU heatsink seating... does the CPU temp look right in BIOS Setup.

  • Invalid system disk when recovering from USB system image

I have a Toshiba L650 running win7. The internal disk failed recently so I replaced it with one I bought  locally. I successfully  recovered the DVD based system image I took  soon after purchasing the laptop. I am now trying to
recover later system images I made to an attached USB drive. I am using a system recovery disk to boot into the recovery process and am successfully finding the USB based system images. However soon after the recovery process begins I get an eror like "Cannot recover to system disk". There are 3 reasons provided
    a. system disk is in the exclusion list - no I checked
    b. system disk is a USB disk - no the system image is on the USB drive but the system disk is the internal HDD
    c. system disk is invalid - no I just installed a system image from DVD onto it - no problems
How do I proceed? There is obviously a valid system image but I just can't get iti nto the machine.
       cheers,

Usually such message appears if you try to boot from CD which is no bootable.
Possibly the BIOS cannot boot up from the PCMCIA drive and tries to boot from the HDD.
But on the HDD the OS is missing and therefore the message appears.
Did you try to force the booting manually?
You could try to press the C button immediately after the notebook starting for booting from PCMCIA drive.
