Ultra 20M2 Keyboard error

Hi,
I have been having problems with getting Bloomberg keyboards to work on our Ultra20M2 workstations. At boot, Post screen we are getting the Keyboard error "Press F1 to continue" etc and the keyboard is not responding. Standard Sun keyboard works fine. I have upgraded the bios to 1.45 and still the problem occurs
Seems to be some sort of BIOS related error as is not OS dependant.

Yes, U20M2 machines are VERY picky about keyboards. I've been able to get other keyboards to work by unplugging/re-plugging them in at the error, then pressing F1. Very annoying to have to do that everytime the computer boots up, but that's all I've found that works...

Ultra 60 keyboard not detected

Hello, I have an Ultra 60, 2X450MHz, 2GB RAM, 2X 50GB HDD, Creator 3D. I recently used the Solaris 10 CD-ROM to format>analyze>purge the hard disks, which went without errors. Now I connect a Sun Type 5c KB/Type 5 mouse, and one of the following occurs at boot seemingly at random:
1. OBP message above banner "cannot detect keyboard layout fe (or c2 or co" and "using USA keyboard layout" followed by banner with "Keyboard present" therein; however when keys are pressed, only repeating 3's or "Keyboard error" appears after OK prompt. Or...
2. No message above banner, but banner displays no keyboard present; same 3's repeating or error upon keypresses. Or...
3. No banner at all, but message "keyboard not detected, sending input/output to ttya".
I am using this keyboard right now on an Ultra 5. I have tried another Type 5c and a Type 6 on the Ultra 60 with the same results. My questions:
1. Is this an OBP fault? How to serial console to this machine without it having a hostname in order to update the PROM?
2. Is this a mainboard fault, like in the keyboard jack or something? Do I need a new mainboard?
This happened overnight. The only thing I can think of that I did was that I used a Belkin adapter (with PS/2 ports and VGA port) to purge the hard disks, then plugged in a Sun KB/mouse along with a display adapter as soon as I acquired them. I am lost! Any thoughts or solutions would be appreciated. Thanks!

In short there is no known solution, it is an manufacturing fault, usually swapping to USB and enabling USB keyboard and mouse in the BIOS will help.

Hetis 945 No Keyboard Error

I am using a Hetis 945 (MS-6410) Barebone System as an Embedded Print Controller with a Touch Screen Monitor. I get a No Keyboard Error at boot up when no keyboarsd is connected. I can't find any keyborad settings within the Bios (Award Ver 6.00PG). How can I disable the keyboard?

Have a look in BIOS settings, under 'Standard CMOS settings', there is usually a 'Halt On...' option, which you should be able to change to 'No Errors'.

Apple ultra thin keyboard: how can I hit F9 ??

Darned if I can figure this out: how can I use F keys on the ultra thin keyboard while using Windows via Boot Camp--I need the standard F keys for Windows uses, but cannot figure out how to make them work.

2011 Lion ultra thin keyboard PC shortcuts

I just got the most recent 2011-2012 Lion version of the Apple Ultra Thin wired keyboard for Christmas but it seems some of the keyboard shortcuts that used to work with Windows don't work anymore. I can't seem to find a page that shows the correspondances like there exists for the older Apple keyboards.
Can anyone point me to a new reference? Thanks!

OK, after a couple of weeks I can confirm the following:
1. The two ultra-thin keyboards I own both have the same model number: A1243, EMC #2171. However, the unique identifier (serial?) on the underside is different.
2. The older one was purchased less than two years ago and the new one is 2 weeks old.
3. I plug the old one in and all the PC shortcuts work.
4. I plug the new one in and none of the PC shortcuts work.
Can anyone in this universe explain why this is so? Thanks!

Have a problem with ultra 1 keyboard (Type 5c). Can I use other type of key boards with ultra 1, for example Type 6?

Keyboard Error on 5192

Hi,
We have a problem with the serverboard E7320 Master Series (5192).
We can not boot without keyboard.
"Keyboard Error - Press F1 for continue - F2 for Setup"
Its not possible, turn off this error.
The new bios 1.26 (is a 1.23) don't fix that problem.

Ultra DMA CRC Error Count

I have a SATA 6 drive which is being downgraded from Ultra DMA by Windows 7. It used to handle about 130MB/s, now it's being limited to 25MB/s. This is apparently due to the Ultra DMA CRC Error Count going to 9 from a bad connection. I've
replaced the connection, but cannot find any way to make Windows 7 retry the drive at the higher data rate.
With Windows XP there was a registry key (ResetErrorCountersOnSuccess) that you could add to make it re-detect, but this doesn't appear to work with Windows 7. In fact all the solutions I can find online only seem to work with XP. Is there some
way to fix this without re-initializing the drive? I really don't relish the idea of transferring 4TB of data at 25MB/s (40+ hours!) just to reset the drive.

Have you tried to manually turn DMA on through device manager?
Please take a try with the follwoing steps:
Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button , clicking
Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then, under
System, clicking Device Manager.‌ If you're prompted for
an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Double-click IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
Under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, for each item that has the word
Channel as part of its label, right-click the item, and then click
Properties.
Click the Advanced Settings tab. Under Device Properties, select or clear the
Enable DMA check box, and then click OK.

Black Screen Freeze on Startup, Unplug all USB's, Restart, then "Keyboard Error"?

Hey all
Whenever I restart my computer, or turn it off and on I have an issue. I always get a completely black screen and it will not move past that.
Once I unplug all the USB's and restart my computer again using the power button, I am able to get past it but am given a "Keyboard Error" message.
It says:

Any ideas?

KT3 Ultra 2 Keyboard lock-ups

I have a problem I haven't seen the answer to. Just built a PC with MSI KT3 Ultra 2, 2000XP processor, GeForce4 Ti 4200 64 MB vid card, 256MB, Windows ME. System has been stable for about 2 weeks now, but yesterday and today it has locked up the keyboard while web browsing (no other programs running). Not sure what is occurring. I have an intake and 2 exhaust fans and temps appear to be well with in acceptable ranges. After this occurs, windows will lock-up on reboot at the ME splash screen. Then sometimes, the pc wil reboot on the following restart fine. Other times, it locks up again with an illegal division error after the splash. No programs or hardware added lately that would have caused this.

The second system has a 330 watt enermax power supply. With the new system I put together, I put virtually the same board (MSI KT3 Ultra 2 with bluetooth and RAID), everything is the same as my first system (except the KT3 Ultra-ARU) and the stability is fine. So, I'm reasonably confident its not the power supply.

Open/close keyboard error

Hi, I was wondering if anybody had any experience with an error like this. I have a Labview made Application that is experiencing some conflicts after installation on a Windows 2000 machine. Bare in mind that it has been successfully installed on 2000 machines in the past. The problem is that when the application is run, the user receives a message that reads,"Select sub.vi to open keyboard". I don't believe this refers to a sub vi called "sub.vi" but a sub vi in general. Could there be a conflict with the keyboard drivers? I unfortunately am not a first hand witness, so this is all the info I have. Could a USB keyboard cause errors like this or something?

Thank you for all your suggestions. The exact error messages our customer is receiving are 'Select sub.vi to open keyboard' and 'Select sub.vi to close keyboard'. These errors occur when the exe is tried to run. By no coincidence, two of the vi's in this exe are called "open keyboard.vi" and "close keyboard.vi". This sounds strange to me because I would think the error message would read something more like, " Vi not found. Select 'Open Keyboard.vi'" The actual message implies that LabView knows what the missing vi's do, unless it is some other kind of error.
It also does not make sense to me that these two vi's would go missing on 1 out of who knows how many installations. Is there any possible explaination for that?
Lastly, an
d somewhat unrelated, at the heart of these vi's is a CIN. How do I review the code of the CIN?

Apple AL wireless keyboard error when pairing

All was well with this keyboard until just recently. I've tried to pair this keyboard with 4 different Macs of mine (all 10.5.4/5) and get the same error over and over:
The pairing attempt was unsuccessful. Make sure your keyboard is in range of this computer, turned on and "discoverable". When ready, click Continue to try again.
Unable to pair with your keyboard. Click Continue to try again.
Took it to the local Mac shop (over 100 miles away) and they got it to work with two of theirs after trying a little bit. Asked me to try again.
As expected, no dice. Same error.
Any suggestions (other than fresh batteries)?

If the KB will not pair with any of your Macs, I strongly suspect the KB is failing (failed). A 100 mile drive is not a happy thought. Perhaps you can call Applecare (hopefully the KB is in warranty) and have them send you a replacement.

Ultra 10 Keyboard repeating keys after 2.5.1 install

I have an Ultra 10 that I'm installing a special 2.5.1 jumpstart assisted install on. I get through the initial install sequence and the Ultra 10 reboots, when it comes up to the console login prompt, hitting any key yields multiple keypresses (1 quick press will yield 10-20 keypresses!). During the boot sequence, one of the status messages says " loadkeys: ioctl(KIOCLAYOUT): timer expired". I know this has something to do with the issue. I have a type 6 keyboard, as well as a type 5c keyboard, however I believe this version wants the plain old type 5 sun keyboard in order to function normally under this ancient OS. I can hit the stop-a command, and the keyboard functionality will work as I expect at the OK prompt, but attempting to use it under the kernel is impossible.
I have attempted to log in via terminal, but this has not worked (I even have a manual describing how to do this, but no connection is ever made). I know new sun os's installed on this machine have normal keyboard functionality, and I also believe that there have been patches to address this issue.
Questions:
1. Does anyone know how to work around this w/o a type 5 keyboard.
2. Is there a way to boot in separately and apply a patch to fix this / or make an adjustment so this does not occur?

It's your choice of that ancient Operating Environment, combined with a cpu faster than 419MHz.
I hope you still have the extra OECD disk that was packed with that system when it was first shipped from Sun.
Otherwise you may just be out of luck with using Solaris 2.5.1
