Ultra 40 M2 and 3Ware Controller

I have an Ultra 40 M2 and I'm trying to use a 3Ware 9650SE 8 Port Controller. I'm trying to get the right cable to connect to the disk back plane. You used to be able to get a SAS Cable Kit for the Ultra 40 M2 but Sun does it sell it anymore. The Ultra 40 M2 perspectives page here http://www.sun.com/desktop/workstation/ultra40/perspectives.xml talks about it. Look at the 3Ware's 9650SE and the Sun Ultra 40 M2 article under "In The News" section. If you can't this cable kit easily from Sun then they should take this article link off the perspectives page. The only way to get this cable kit from Sun would be to do Time and Materials for $350/hr minimum 2 hours. Sun support couldn't give me an alternative cable. I have tried the Adaptec cable below but the controller can't see the drives.
The ACK-I-mSASx4-SASx4-1M R is an internal mini Serial Attached SCSI x4 (SFF-8087) to x4 (SFF-8484) Serial Attached SCSI cable. It measures 1.0 meter and is used for connecting a SATA/SAS controller (SFF-8087) to a SATA/SAS backplane (SFF-8484).
I have also talked to CS Electronics but they said that cable should work and they have a similar cable I could try. I don't want to shell out for more cables at $48 a piece and have them not work.
Any ideas? Thanks!

I am having exactly the same problem. Did you ever manage to solve this problem?
Thanks for your help!

  • Swapping drives between Ultra 5 and 10 is it possible?

I currently am faced with a problem. I have 2 machines running Solaris 7. One is an ultra 10 and the other is an ultra 5. The Ultra 10 is currently running off of an external scsi drive. The Ultra 5 is currently running off of an internal IDE drive. The utra 10 is used as a basic workstation. The ultra 5 is used as a software simulator. I am tasked with having to switch these two machines. I have tried just swapping the hard drives. However this does not work. Is there a reason why? Is there a fix? I thought they were the same architechure so I was assuming you could just swap the drives. If you have any info please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Jason

Ultra 5 and Ultra 10 is exactly the same machine but in different boxes. So they uses exactly the same motherboard.
Of course there are a couple of different motherboards with different revisions and there are also multiple CPUs available for the Ultra 5 / Ultra 10 (the speed on a Ultra 5/10 CPU can range from 200-something to 440, if i'm not mistaken).
Hence, to clarify; all Ultra 5 and Ultra 10 have an IDE controller.
If your Ultra 10 is booting of a SCSI device, it must be connected to a SCSI card, if you can move this SCSI card to your Ultra 5 and put it in the same PCI slot, chances are that you will be able to boot from it. Similarly the Ultra 10 should be able to boot from the Ultra 5s harddrive. Unless they have very different version of the motherboard.
You will probably have to change the default boot device on both boxes though.
If your systems for some odd reason, which i can't think of at the moment, would refuse to boot of their new hosts, you could always boot the system from a jumpstart image or cdrom, mount the / partition under /mnt and run
    devfsadm -r /mnt
this should rebuild all devicepaths and friends to match your new host.
Then again, remember to change the boot-device parameter in your OBP, if you are lucky you should be able to just swap the parameters between the U5 and the U10.

  • 5700 ultra BSOD and nv4_disp.dll

Just got a MSI 5700 Ultra yesterday and am now suffering random BSOD's (they all seem to mention NV4_disp.dll). I've reformatted the drive and done a clean install of XP Pro (with all the latest service pack stuff) and installed 53.04 detonators, to no avail.
    I'm running:
    2800XP Barton
    ASUS A7N8X Delux Mobo
    1GB 3200 Ram (TWINMOS)
I've changed most of the stuff recently(but it seemed fairly stable until I installed the 5700),
    Does anyone have ideas?
Oh, I've also got a 500W PSU, so I don't think it could be a power problem.
Hope someone can help before I kick it down the stairs!!!!!

  • MSI 890FXA-GD70 and 3Ware 9750-4i BIOS issues

This is my second build with this motherboard.  This post is just to help anyone who might be trying to get similar hardware combinations to work.
The BIOS revision is 1.7, which was the revision the board came with.
When running with a 3Ware 9750-4i board you will find that the 3Ware BIOS will complain about not being able to install.  At first it was complaining about the motherboard BIS not providing enough RAM to live in, but after I set the on-board SATA controller to AHCI is stopped complaining and just didn't show up at all.
Now, don't be discouraged if you aren't booting from the 3Ware controller, because this won't stop it from working.  When the OS loads the driver, everything is fine.
I suspect it would also work if you completely disabled the on-board controller, but that wasn't an option for me.  I wanted to run three additional HDs and two optical drives on that controller, as well as the four drives on the 3Ware.
I kept experimenting with slot positions for the cards, but nothing produced a change at all.
Finally I spent time in the OS trying to make the AHCI drivers for the on-board controller work with connect/disconnect.  There appeared no way in Win7 x64 to get any AHCI drivers to load but the default Microsoft ones, which don't support hot-swap or even connect/disconnect.
It appeared to me that the only AHCI drivers supplied by AMD or MSI specifically work only when the controller is in RAID mode.  So I tried setting the controller to RAID mode in the BIOS, and discovered that it now played nice with the 3Ware BIOS.  Now I am going to reinstall Windows 7 with the 3Ware drivers and select a 3Ware drive to boot from, to see if I can get the AMD or MSI-supplied drivers to work with the on-board controller.  I suspect I will get all the features promised then.  If I don't, I will return here and report the results.

I completed the new install of Win7 - this time with the 3ware controller as the primary, and the on-board SATA set to RAID.
First, I had to load drivers for the on-board RAID during the install, just to let the install continue.  Then I had to load drivers to tell Win7 about the drive where I wanted to install.  I thought it would ask for both up front, but it wouldn't take both - it only wanted the drivers for the controller to which the DVD was connected.  THEN, after it was ready to ask for a location for the install, it let me put the 3ware drivers up.
Once the system was loaded, I was disappointed to find that none of the on-board RAID drives showed up in the add/remove dialog, but I was able to use a utility to make them work with hot-swapping.  It is called Hotswap!
    http://mt-naka.com/hotswap/index_enu.htm
and it allowed me to connect/disconnect drives plugged into the on-board controller housed in the Thermaltake MAX-2533.
With the settings like that, the BIOS issues disappear, with both the on-board RAID and the 3ware co-existing nicely.  This indicates to me that there is likely something wrong with the standard AHCI BIOS-related screen that makes the 3ware controller unhappy.  I doubt the 3ware is the only BIOS-installing card to feel that way, so if you have your drives set to AHCI, but have issues with any other cards, you might look into setting the drives to RAID or to IDE (though you lose some features like NCQ)
I also forgot to mention that I also have a four-port PCI-Express NIC from Intel in the system, so I have updated the system summary below:
    MSI 890FXA-GD70 | AMD Phenom II X6 1090T | ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B | CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9B |  HIS Silence H557HR1G Radeon HD 5570 | Antec Solo Black case | Corsair CMPSU-750TXV2 | 3ware LSI00216 (9750-4i) | Intel PRO/1000 PT Quad Port NIC | Seagate Barracuda XT ST32000641AS (x7) | Thermaltake MAX-2533 | Plextor PX-L890SA | Plextor PX-B940SA-11

Does any body out there know if a MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU and a MSI FX5900XT 128MB DDR Video Card will work well together?

like the grayone say, is true. for more ensure, try and search the graphic cards support list for your board at MSI (Sorry cause i don,t no is  where the site located)
in my opinion, most is compability for your card, when is a AGP slot.
Except the new one like the AGP slot, call AGR( Accelaration Graphic Riser slot) that really need to find a compatibility graphic cards.....

  • MSI KT3 Ultra ARU and S2K Bus Disconnect

    Hello
I have a MSI KT3 Ultra ARU and a AMD Athlon XP 2600+ (266 FSB version). I wonder if I have support for termal diode in both CPU and mainboard.
Is S2K Bus Disconnect and CPU HALT Command detection the same thing?

    Quote
KT3 ultra's I believe were the first boards capable of reading thermal diode inside of AMD XP (Palamino/T-bred/barton, etc) and higher cores.
Not the first, but they were up there as being among the first.  A few KT266 boards implemented the circuitry to read thermal diode.  Second or third revision boards, or new models, based on KT266A and even KM266 began implementing the thermal diode circuitry.
KT3 Ultra has thermal diode read circuit:

Hello. I have a strange problem with my controllercard. I wrote this text to InnoVision suport and they send me files and bios updates for a whole week and it was still the same problem. And then i tried the card in an older computer and everything worked fine.
    I wrote

My computer is overclocked at the time but i have tried to use the harddrive when it's not clocked also. Also when im goin in to teh controlpanel and starts the setings for Sillicon Images sata controll and have music on my computer, the music laggs for a very very short moment. Something must be wrong and i can not find it."
It's still the same problem in my computer. The older computer had a MSI moderboard with a VIA chip and i have a nForce 3. InnoVison said i should talk to you about this problem. I have 3 harddrives but i use this controllercard because i want to have my computer overclocked and then i can't use 2 of the sata ports as i think you know.
I would be very thankful if you could help me with this problem.

I've used a noname SATA pci card (non raid) with SIL3112 on my neo2 without problems with 1C bios.
Think you may try with a disk lower than 48bitLBA need (137GB barrier), eg a 120GB disk

I could not used the EIO card with 160G HDD. The whole setup is working only after I connected oine of my 120G Segate SATA HDD to the EIO Sata card.
I think this card do not properly support HDD above 120G.

    Edit:
Here's another with complete different setup and same problems
    http://forum.tweakxp.com/forum/Topic212148-4-1.aspx
I doubt it has anything to do with your motherboard and/or bios.
Btw: I looked at innovision and their drivers in download area are very old.
Get the latest SIL3112 drivers for XP here:
    http://www.siliconimage.com/support/supportsearchresults.aspx?pid=63&cid=3&ctid=2&osid=4&
And remember 3112 is sata150 only , so it's not sure it will work with your drive at all .
Anyway it should be set to fixed sata1.5G with jumper - not certain the controller can autonegotiate
without trouble. You cannot have command queing enabled either , disk support only NCQ and controller TCQ
so having command queing set ON will cause major conflicts in data transfers.

    Hello Experts,
Can someone please help me with a standard  Inventory report in which we can give input thr requistioner and MRP controller
    regards,

    Hi,
You will get the requisition no. from EKKO (provided PO has been created otherwise you won't get any record). Find out PO & item no. for the requisition item. Then you can check EKBE table whether GR has been posted or not. If GR has not been posted then there won't be entry in EKBE for that PO & item.

  • Communication between : AP and WLAN controller

    Hi,
The communication between AP and WLAN Controller is ( Data and Control ) UDP.
Source port 1024 and destination port 12222 and 12223. Actually which device listen to which port or both should listen as control and data can be generated from both the devices.
How does the user ( wireless client) traffic is switched - if user traffic is a TCP traffic. It will be sent to WLANC and then WLANC forwards it to respective VLAN or default gateway ( depending upon the destination in the packet ).
Please explain / share the experience.

    Thanka in advance

"the LWAPP Control and Data messages are encapsulated in UDP packets that are carried over the IP network. The only requirement is established IP connectivity between the access points and the WLC. The LWAPP tunnel uses the access point's IP address and the WLC's AP Manager interface IP address as endpoints. The AP Manager interface is explained in further detail in the
implementation section. On the access point side, both LWAPP Control and Data messages use an ephemeral port that is derived from a hash of the access point MAC address as the UDP port. On the WLC side, LWAPP Data messages always use UDP port 12222. On the WLC side, LWAPP Control messages always use UDP port 12223.
The mechanics and sequencing of Layer 3 LWAPP are similar to Layer 2 LWAPP except that the packets are carried in UDP packets instead of being encapsulated in Ethernet frames."

  • Diff between Component controller,Custome controller and  View controller

    hi,
Can any body tell me the following details,
1.difference between the Component controller,Custome controller and  View controller in WD-ABAP.?
    2.what is Lead Selection?
    Regards,
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi.
The component controller is visbile to all views in a component. So all context nodes and methods you create here can be accessed from all views in the component. This way you can share data between the views by mapping context nodes or thru method calls. You can also mark methods and nodes as interface so that they are acessable from other components that define component usages to this cmponent.
Custom controller is quiet similar to the component controller. You can define it if you want to group some views with a custom controller for a certain functionality.
If you want to access a custom controller in a view you have to define the usage first on the properties tab of the view.
A view controller is only visible in the view itself. So all methods or context nodes you define here are only accesable by the current view.
The lead selection is in most cases the current selected element in a context node. The lead selection is used by many UI elements to determine which element has to be shown (e.g drop down).
If you have a table with single selection the current selected table row is the lead selection element of the bound context node.
SO you can get the lead selection element easily in any mthod by calling context_node->get_element( ).
    Hope this clears your questions.
    Cheers,
    Sascha

  • Difference between AP Operational Status and Registered Controller

When reviewing the AP Details page in Prime there are two fields I'm not sure what they mean specifically:
    1) Operational Status - Registered
    2) Registered Controller - Not Associated
Any clarity or document references would be greatly appreciated.

This is in CPI viewing the AP Details tab.
The only valid values for Operational Status are Registered/Not Registered.
The only valid values for Registered Controller are Associated/Not Associated
The IP address is not a valid input.
It is still unclear to me what the specific and fuctional differences and impacts are between Operational Status and
Registered Controller? How do the values of each impact the client device?
    Thank You.

I couldn't find an Instrument Driver for the 3932 crate controler. There is a driver for the 3988: http://zone.ni.com/idnet97.nsf/9b2b33e1993d877786256436006ec498/045f8392cc4d1b01862568ab005fbb49?OpenDocument
If you look at the driver it isn't too complex. Well ... actaully there are certain differences when using the 3988 GPIB controller that the driver takes care of that relate to correctly passing commands (FAN).
If the 3922 controller is similar then maybe you can use the 3988 driver and modify it to meet your needs. I'm not familar with the 2915 Kinetic system so I'm not sure what would be easier.
If you have a GPIB board, then you could try using the 3988 driver with your 3922 controller and see if you can modify the driver to get things to work.
    I
've only used the 3988 and that was quite three years ago but it might be worth a try.

    Hi:
You need to install the Realtek Card Reader driver from your notebook's support and driver page for the PCI device.
Please  do the following so I can find out what model wireless card your model uses...
Go to the device manager, find the Other Devices category, and click on the Network Controller needing drivers.
Then click on the Details tab at the top of the network controller window.
Now you see a Property drop down list and it is defaulted to Device Description.
Drop down on that and select the second item on the list (Hardware ID's).
Post the top string of characters that begin with PCI\VEN.
