  • Registering Portal in Oracle Ultra Search

    Hi,
I am in the process of setting up Oracle Ultra Search. I have followed the documentation down as far as Configuring Ultra Search to Index Portal Pages and I get to the point where I am adding the OracleAS Portal registration details.
I am not sure what my URL base should be, I have tried several combinations of
    http://<hostname>:<port>/pls/portal/PORTAL
    http://<hostname>:<port>/pls/portal/portal
but I get the same error every time when I go to register the portal.
    Oracle Ultra Search Error
Could not retrieve data from Oracle Portal. Make sure that the URL base is correct and that the portal is operational.
My Portal is up and running at (http://<hostname>/portal/page/portal/ultrasearch)
What should my URL base be ?
    Thanks,

    Reference: http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/portal.1014/b19305/cg_monit.htm#CHDFEIED
In SES10.1.8, it says URL base format is <protocol>://<host>:<port>/pls/<portal DAD>/<portal schema>, however it is confusing.
The following is applicable to Portal 10.1.4:
You may get some clue by going Administer tab -> Portal -> Portal Service Monitoring -> Portal DAD Setting -> Database Connection
    In my setting, I see,
    DAD Name of Location = <font color=green>/pls/portal</font>
    Database username = <font color=pink>portal</font>
The correct combination that works is:
    http://portal.machine.com:7778/portal<font color=green>/pls/portal</font>/<font color=pink>portal</font>

  • Ultra Search and VPP?

Has anyone successfully used Ultra Search with Virtual Private Portal? When registering my portal data source only the four standard page groups are available (corporate pages, portlet repository, shared components and documentation). The root pages of all the new page groups in each of the portals are "displayed to public users". However, these page groups are not visible unless a user has authenticated for each virtual private portal. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
    [dave]

    hi dave,
one basic question before diving to deep into this. did you check the 'Display Page To Public Users' checkbox in the access settings of the root page of your page group ?
this is the basic requirement to see page groups in the ultra search registration. ultra search only crawls public content in portal.
    thanks,
    christian

  • Moving the Ultra Search search.jsp page

I am trying to move the search.jsp Ultra Search page into a new directory that has non-SSO security on it, does anyone know how to do this? I do not use Ultra Search on a Portal page and I don't want to use SSO for security because we already have all of the pages that are being searched in a secure area and I want the search page in that same secure area.

It might be better if you address this question on the UltraSearch forum at Ultra Search

  • Ultra 10 with KVM and usb Sun keyboard

    Hi,
I have 4 servers, two ultra 10, a Sun Fire V880 and a Sun Fire V250, I want all of them to be controlled form a KVM which has support of Ultra 10 platforms, that is, i have two cables with sun 6 tyoe keyboard and mouse. To the KVM i have attached USB keyboard and mouse.
The problem is that the two Ultra 10 servers won't react to the keyboard presses or mouse movements. Is there a way to configure the Ultra 10 servers to work fine with the keyboard and mouse attached to the kvm? is it a kvm problem or a USB mouse/keyboard problem?
    thanks!!

    Thanks Michael,
I had previously am Advovent KVM and everything worked nicely, with a type 6 sun keyboard and mouse. Now i changed to a blackbox kvm which supports this type of SUN keyboard/mouse. But i'm using now Sun USB keyboard and mouse. I can admin the Ultra 10 workstations remotely or though console, but i would love to have keyb/mouse access as I allways had.
I wonder if there is some incompatibility between the Ultra 10 workstations and the Sun USB keyboard and mouse or if it is just something related to the KVM... i could try and buy Sun keyb. type of connector from the keyb/mouse to the KVM and if it works that would mean that the Ultra 10 didn't like the USB devices indeed, but before wasting the money i would like to know if there is some kind of patch i could try on the Ultra 10 systmes to see if they support the USB devices... would a OS upgrade make the work also (let's say, to Solaris 10)?

  • Sun Ultra 10 with SunStorEDGE A1000/D1000 unable to setup

I realise this covers old ground but I have not been able to trace a uitable resolvement and would be grateful for assistance.
I have a Sun Ultra 10 with 256MB RAM and 440GHz cpu.. It has a pci Adaptec 2944UW HVD SCSI interface card. The storage system is a tray of eight scsi 72GB disks housed in a D1000 case. NetBSD reported it as an A1000 SunStorEDGE at sd0 having 16 targets and 8 luns. However NetBSD did not have a readily available controller to setup the raid system so I installed an alternative. I presume the case is a reused old case housing an A1000 unit.
I tried to format the drives directly but they are not lists as devices such as ct1sd1 etc. and so this is not possible.
I have installed Sun Solaris 10 but could not communicate and reported inability to use rdriver and rdnexus and after reading a number of reports that driver hooks had been removed from the kernel in Solaris 10 I have installed Solaris 9.
On both occasions I installed a number of RAID Manager 6.1.1 control packs, namely SUNWosafw, osar, osau, osamn and vtsse direct from my CD here.
I commanded dr_hotadd.sh to take up the challenge but it failed to communicate.
I added a number of Rdac amendments to rparams in /etc/osa but this did not resolve the issue.
I have tried to call probe-scsi-all after doing a reset-all from the OBP but this fails to report anything. I presume this is because the unit is connected by the interface card rather than a direct scsi disk.
    dmesg pipe grep scsi reports:
    unknown scsi sd0 at uata0 target 2 lun 0
I would be very grateful fr guidance to resolve this connection so that I can create a suitable filestore.
    Thanks

I presume the case is a reused old case housing an A1000 unit.If it's really an A1000, you won't have access to the drives. You'll only see exposed LUNS from the raid controller. Do you have a dial in the rear with a scsi address? That will be the address that the A1000 will respond on. In addition, the A1000 has only one pair of SCSI ports. The D1000 has two pair and doesn't have the scsi adress dial (because each of the disks in the chassis respond on their own addresses). Instead you have some DIP switches to change the addressing behavior.
I tried to format the drives directly but they are not lists as devices such as ct1sd1 etc. and so this is not possible.

You can ignore them. Neither the A1000 nor D1000 require those drivers. You should still be able to use 'rm6' or the CLI tools to interact with an A1000.
On both occasions I installed a number of RAID Manager 6.1.1 control packs, namely SUNWosafw, osar, osau, osamn and vtsse direct from my CD here.

I presume this is because the unit is connected by the interface card rather than a direct scsi disk.If the controller doesn't support the OBP environment, then yes, you won't see anything then.
    dmesg pipe grep scsi reports:
unknown scsi sd0 at uata0 target 2 lun 0So that might be a single LUN from an A1000 controller. If the selector switch in the back is set to '2', then it's even more likely.

  • Using BEA Weblogic Portal with Sun Access Manager

    Hello all,
I am wondering if anyone has had experience with using Weblogic Portal (versions 8.1 or 9.2) with Sun's Access Manager tool (part of the Identity Management suite).
In particular, I would like to know what access control tasks were performed through access manager, and which were performed portal-side.
    Any information would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi
Has any one explored the below question.
Is WLP 9.2 compatible with Sun Access Manager?
If yes, please let know the details.
    Thanks

  • Can ultra search portlet search html pages stored outside of portal

I have some html pages stored on my hard drive. I would like to search these from my portal page using the ultrasearch portlet.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks.

In answer to your question Ultra Search can search content from a number of sources, including websites files on the file system and of course, Portal.
The built in Portal Searching functionality can search files on a filesystem but only by creating URL items where the URL is a file:// URL that points to the file on a filesystem that is local to the Portal repository database.

  • Issue with oracle ultra search and the document.getURL() call...

I am writing a search tool using the ultra search engine in the background to make a search across an Oracle 9i database hitting various tables and columns.
The search is working great and the product is working wonderful. However, I have a slight problem. I developed the Java application that interfaces to the UltraSearch Engine using classes12.jar and nls_charset.jar - I have been recently informed that I need to use ojdbc14.jar and equivalent classes as we are developing in a jdk1.4 environment.
Now I have everything working correctly and have no issues with using the classes12.jar within a jdk1.4 environment, but when I switched to use the new drivers the document.getURL() and document.getLanguage() both return "???" as a value and before they were returning values I could parse (in the case of the getURL() call).
I have done some experimentation and found that if I remove nls_charset.jar from my classes12.jar - I don't get "???" but I do get garbled text that is unparseable so I am convinced the issue is around the charset implementation and globalization process.
I need help and I really have no idea at this point where to look and what to do? I have searched and queried every place I can and tried numerous variations but I still end up with "???" from those calls when I use the jdk 1.4 drivers?
Can someone please help or push me down another path?
    Guy

    user472953,
It's the driver. Try using "nls_charset12.jar" in your common/lib directory. I'd upload mine if I could, but you should be able to find it somewhere on oracle.com (hopefully).
    Good luck,

  • OAS v10.1.2 Ultra Search - Page Group Missing When Setting Up Portal Data

    Hi,
We're on version 10.1.2 but in the process of upgrading to 10.1.4.
In Ultra Search, when I try to set up a Portal Data Source, I can't see all the Page Groups in the portal. Is this somehow related to the ACL for the Page Group ... or individual pages? I can see most but not all, and specifically not the one I want.
    Any suggestions would be great!

I blundered onto the answer to my issue by trial and error.
When setting up the root page for a page group, if you wish it to be accessible to Ultra Search to be part of a Portal Data Source, you must ensure that the "Display Page To Public Users" check box is checked. The "Enable Item Level Security" checkbox can also be checked, e.g, they are not mutually exclusive.
