Ultra slow DSL and constantly buffering video

For the past two weeks, whenever I try to watch even a short 2-minute clip, it stops every few seconds to buffer. It doesn't matter where the video originates from [youtube, nbc.com, comedy central, etc.]. I've been on the phone with Verizon at least 6 times in the past two weeks with many hours spent following their instructions. When they check my download speed it's always perfect, right around 3mbps. When I check it myself via VERIZON.NET/speedtest, I get readings like .08 or .05 mbps. Verizon has electronically checked my lines and assured me that all is well. I've installed a new modem they sent. Still no improvement. I have nothing draining the system. The modem is hard wired directly to the computer with no other devices accessing it. I'm totally frustrated. Is there a solution? Is anyone else having the same problem?

I don't see anything wrong with the DSL line other than the fact that the upstream is not synced correctly. Do you have access to your NID? If so, can you plug your modem into the test jack found inside of the customer access portion of it (which is the case for newer NIDs) and pull up the new statistics?
Other than that, it is more than likely congestion on Verizon's end during certain times of the day, or due to faulty equipment (not working up to max capable capacity) causing the slow downs. We can generally get those issues fixed up.

  • Is anyone with an iPhone 6plus experiencing slow downloads and problems streaming videos online?

is anyone with an iPhone 6+ experiencing slow download and slow video streaming online? I have had the iPhone 6 Plus and I've been experiencing my app is downloading a lot slower and being unable to stream videos online

I hope someone from Apple is monitoring this site. Three days apps will not update, iOS8.0. Support told me to update to iOS8.02. Can't do that over WIFI or Cell network. Supports tells me have to link to iTUNES and do this. That takes three trys. Did that. Apps still not updating. Read online that resetting network settings will help. Did that App's hanging and not updating.
Apple how does this happen. Night before iOS8.0 release you pull things because of some security issue. Then you have iOS8.01 fiasco and now this. Can someone get this right. We use these things for more than just phones now. FIX IT

  • Imovie - slowing down and speeding up videos?

Hi, i have the latest imovie and i'm having difficulty knowing how to speed my videos up and slow them down. I can't find the option to do that. On the older version of imovie, i clicked ' media '
but the one i got from ilife..i'm just not sure.
    Anybody know?

.. hmm, well.. nor sure about that 'better'.. I'm receiving a lot of 'help' mails esp, for that advice.. that JESDI app is a beast, and some people fail to mangle it
but, IF you manage to use it, the results are superb due to the pro-feature of 'frame blending', I excessively use it now for all my soccer-videos.. the iMovie slowmo often fails to avoid stutter on final DVDs.. with JESDI, I feel like a broadcast director

  • Slow DSL and inconsistent connections

Hi, I've got what appears (from what I've read in these forums) to be a common situation: have had Verizon DSL for years, no problems. Suddenly, within the past two months, my speed has dropped (I am paying for 1.5-3 mbps) and the internet connection drops sometimes for no reason. This became a big problem at the end of May when my final papers for grad school were due via email, and is still a problem now when I'm trying to work on my thesis with a number of online sources. Any help you can give would be appreciated.
I have an Actiontec GT704WG running on a "simulated dry loop" as it has been doing for at least two years, and have made several service calls to Verizon regarding this issue. The first call, I was told to replace the phone line between the router and the phone jack. I did so, and speeds improved for about a day. On subsequent calls, I have just been told to turn the router on and off. I do, and it works for a little while, but I don't feel like I should have to be doing this multiple times a day. Here's what Verizon's speed test just told me:

Please help, this is driving me nuts and I am tempted to look elsewhere for a more reliable internet provider. Thanks!

Despite missing some upstream from the length of your line (causing lower margins), your line seems to be fairing pretty well. Only a few uncorrectable errors with whatever else was occurring from perhaps noise, being corrected through Interleaving. The drops may be from the low margin on the upstream and downstream. If you happen to have access to a NID, see if you can connect your DSL modem to it and obtain the new statistics it shows. This will let us rule out at least your home's wiring as being the cause of the disconnects.
As for the speed issues, due to the lack of errors on the line, it looks like you might be suffering from issues related to the Junipers. Once we get some results from a NID test if it is possible, I'll send you some information on how to contact someone who can get you off of the Juniper, if possible, and onto a Redback router.

  • Bought 4th Gen 3TB TC - streaming TV over the internet is now so slow and now is constantly buffering.  It seems the Airport Utility is always 'searching for new networks' - don't know if this is the problem.  It's not the internet speed as checked that.

Bought 4th Gen 3TB TC - streaming TV over the internet is now so slow and now is constantly buffering.  It seems the Airport Utility is always 'searching for new networks' - don't know if this is the problem.  It's not the internet speed as checked that.  I took my old router upstairs and was streaming TV via my ipad seamlessly - the same program via the TC was constantly buffering.
I just expected to be able to plug in the TC, so a simple set-up and experience wireless both upstairs and downstairs in my house.  For some reason the range is low and speed veru disappointing.
I am far from being an IT expert but I would welcome advice about setting up this TC so we can enjoy the product as it was designed.  Please HELP!

No silver bullet........but my suggestions may drive you in the right direction.
    1.  Unplug the power cable from the TC and wait 10-15 minutes before powering back up.   Seriously wait!
Proceed to #2 if this dosen't help.
    2.  Unplug the power cable from the TC, ubplug the power cable from your Broadband Modem (assuming it's a cable modem), disconnect ethernet, and cable from modem.
2a.  Wait 10-15 minutes then re-connect cable, ethernet, and power back to modem (your modem should power up unless you have a power switch)  wait for all the modem lights to come on EXCEPT activity.
2b.  Connect ethernet from modem to TC, and plug in the power cable to TC.
Proceed to #3 if this dosen't help.
    3.  Reconfigure the TC.........Read here........http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3728
All really simple to do....if you need additional help let me (us) know.

  • Imac suddenly downloading more slowly and buffering video

Mac desktop is suddenly downloading more slowly and buffering video like u tube and hulu?? I have checked ISP and modem and all seems in order. Modem is 2 years old and ISP wants to come out and check dsl wiring, but not sure if that is needed and don't want to waste $ having them come out. Did speed test and downloading is running much slower than uploading?

    Hi,
    Have you tried a reset?
This solves a lot of these problems, and I'm not sure if this will work in your case, but give it a try. You hold down the sleep and home buttons at the same time. A slider will appear. Ignore it and keep holding both buttons down. After about 15 seconds the Apple logo will appear. See if that helps.
You will not lose anything on your ipad when you do a reset. (A restore is a whole other issue!)
The following link addresses your issue and offers some other possible solutions.

  • NX Ultra Webcam, audio and video not in sync...

I have a problem with my NX Ultra webcam. When I record video the audio is never in sync with the video. There is always like a 2 or 3 second delay. It's really annoying. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? I have the latest drivers and everything.
Check out this link to see what I mean...

    BrainDamage,
Yes, the files are indeed large with no compression. But that confirms that the camera and soundcard are working fine. At this point, you will want to try different compression methods and / or reinstall your video codecs with the latest revisions and see if that improves your sync issue.

  • Youtube Constantly Buffering: Wired and Wireless, Please Help

    Hi All,
Hoping someone can shed some light on my issue.  I have a FIOS triple play bundle with 35/35 speeds.  When I run a speed test I typically see 42/38.  The problem starts when I go to watch Youtube videos on any of my 3 consoles.  I have an Xbox, PS3 and a Wii U.  The xbox and the ps3 are both hardwired into the router and the Wii U is wireless.  The problem I run into is that Youtube will constantly buffer almost all the time and render the video unwatchable unless you like a white circle constantly running on your screen.  This happens on all 3 consoles 9 times out of 10.  The strange part is that I log onto my PC, which is hooked wirelessly and I can watch Youtube videos without any sort of trouble.  Both Netflix and HBO GO and other video applications seem to be unaffected on all 3 consoles.  I run into the same problem on my cellphone as well while I have that connected wirelessly where I cannot watch the Youtube videos without constant streaming.  I understand that Verizon doesn't stand behind wireless speeds but the Wii U is not 12 inches below the router and I have trouble on my cell phone within 10 feet and have clear line of sight.  I have called Verizon and they ran me through a speed test and since I was getting higher speeds then what I pay for there is really nothing that they can do.  Any help or suggestions would be wonderful.  Thanks in advance.
I have the MI424WR-GEN3I router and it is running firmware 40.20.1.
Quick Edit: just tried to watch a Youtube video on my PC which usually works the best, and I am not even able to start a video at 360P quality.  I just ran 2 speed tests and receieved 43/29.
Edit: This can be closed, I just noticed there were 2 posts on the front page about this very same issue.  I give up on watching youtube then I guess.

Some folks have blocked a couple offending youtube cache servers and because it routes them to better ones, or directly to youtube instead and there have been mixed results but I think a majority of people have enjoyed better speeds on youtube because of it.
You are welcome to try it as well and let us know if it helps.
    Log into your FIOS Router
    Click Firewall Setting (at top)
    Click Yes to proceed

  • Adobe Captivate Outputting/Rendering Slow, Sluggish, and Choppy Video when ScreenCasting

When I screencast my desktop and then output/render the video that Adobe Captivate recorded, the video is always so choppy, sluggish, and slow.
I set the frames per second to 80 and interval to 1, 5, and 10, and still choppy video.
My system specfications are as follows:
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1
    CPU: Intel Core i7 @ 3.40 GHz | Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology
    RAM: 16.0 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 6600 Series
Is there something that I am doing wrong during/after I record?
    Any help would be awesome!
    Thank you!

    Hey Anjaneai,
I mean slow as in my Cursor movements are not as smooth as I expected with this software.
I have chosen the Video Demo recording mode.
I did check the option to show "Actions in Real Time" from Recording and it only applies to Audio. I am speaking of video. I have tried comparing. I tried comparing with Software Demo, but it's impossible to compare, seeing as Adobe Captivate generates the mouse for you.
I thought that the higher the Frame Rates the smoother the experience.
    Thank you!

  • All streaming video with my Firefox browser is choppy and constantly stutters and stops and starts. This does not happen with Internet Explorer. Help!!

Any streaming video that I view on Firefox stutters, is choppy and very irritating to try and watch. I opened up Internet Explorer and found that I don't have those issues. This occurs on YouTube, Facebook, and all other videos that I attempt to watch.

I've tried both things, but video still stutters.. Have also tried removing profile, and complete reinstall of firefox.
I'm on 24 Mbit cable and the only user atm. IE and Chrome seems to work without stuttering.
I've having this stuttering every ~5th second, like a small "1/4 sec buffering".

  • Youtybe and other browser videos load super slow on my iphone

Have anyone come across the problem when your youtube and other browser videos loads super slow. It is really frustrating and even the samsung galaxy s 2 loads faster than my iphone 5
I don't if this is only on iphone 5 or other apple products so if you have a solution for please tell me
and iphone 5-ios6 seems to have so many problems such as battery degeneration, purple flare and pixelated camera, maps , alarm clock and many other more
    Thankyou for you solutions...

I am experiencing this issue also, and it seems to be specific to wifi only.  Both the app and website produce the same slow loading video.  Also, oddly enough, cellular will load faster despite it's slower speed.  It was rumored that Safari's cache had something to do with it (being that wifi causes the videos to load in high definition/high quality).  If you clear your cache (settings, safari, and clear history and clear cookies and data), it temporarily fixes the issue.  However, this will only get you through 1 or 2 videos before it returns.  Others have tried using different DNS settings (the DNS of your ISP or opendns), but it never seemed to work for me.  Still, many others have suggested running your router in WEP mode, which may have had some affect.
Try all the suggestions and see if it improves.
I also forgot to mention that wifi speed on every other use outside youtube is fine.
