Ultra VNC / no access from external IP

Hi Router: Linksys WRT 54 GL (latest firmware) Config: There is port forwarding on Router: any external IP ; port 5900-5901 ; to 192.168.1.101 (my comp in LAN) External IP of Router: let's say A.B.C.D Application: Ultra VNC ver. 1.1.0.2 (server and repeater run on LAN comp 192.168.1.101) Internal comp has no firewall, only antyvirus application - Avast What happens: If I try to connect to LAN comp from external IP - using Ultra VNC Viewer - I get info "Fail to connect to server". I do it by giving the external IP of my Router: A.B.C.D. If I try to connect to LAN comp from internal IP (so from comp which is in the same LAN - connected to the same router) - everything works perfectly. I do it by giving the external IP of my Router A.B.C.D. If I try to use telnet on port 5900 or 5901 on IP: A.B.C.D - from external IP - I get info: "Could not open connection to the host on port 5900 - conection failed". If I use port scan of A.B.C.D - it shows that only regular ports are open so only: 25, 110 and 80. Any thought what I do wrong? In addition, I tried to do it on Tomato firmware and it did not worked - same story. Maybe internal comp is configred wrongly in some way, maybe ports are blocked - but as I mentioned - there is no firewall on this internal comp.

I am having the same problem with my WRT54GL; the "live support" people have told me that the newest firmware will fix that, along with a 'random disconnect' problem. However, the link they sent me only brings up an older firmware. I can only assume the new one isn't posted / completed yet.

  • Advice needed on fast streaming/access from external HD (Video/Music apps)

    Hello,
    I'm a computer musician and have reached the max on my internal SATA drive, and thus I'm looking for an effective, extra-fast external HD capable of intense sample streaming (i.e. quickly accessing many small files from different parts of the drive at once). I'm not looking for write speed, as that does not concern me. The main concern is "read speed."
    In my search I came across this eSATA drive from segate which seems to have been designed with my needs in mind: http://www.creativemac.com/articles/...e.jsp?id=53423
    However, it takes PCI 2.2, while us dual G5 users only have PCI-X, correct? Does this mean this particular eSATA drive will not work in my system? Are there any eSATA drives/enclosures that were designed specifically for PCI-X? Is eSATA worth it when compared with FW800 in my line of work? (I already own a Lacie FW88 drive as a backup drive, but can switch its application if needed). What is the best technology for fast streaming/access from an external HD?
    I'm sorry if this topic has already been covered, but in my search I was unable to find any topics specifically regarding this type of use of an external HD.
    I thank you in advance for any help you can provide!

    You probably want to look at an "e-SATA" Raid. The November ish of Macworld has a review of several "Mac friendly" units"

  • Extremely Slow Disk Access from External Drives (USB & Firewire)

    Following the upgrade to 10.6.2 (from 10.6.1), my computer is communicating extremely slowly with all external drives (both Firewire 400 and USB). File transfers which used to take less than a minute now take 5-10 minutes (less than 1 GB). Peering into the Console, I see messages for each aspect of a file reading: Nov 13 12:30:12 Nautilus /System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/MacOS/Finder[152]: Possible unresolved transaction race -105/filename
    (Nautilus is the name of the computer)
    By "each aspect", I mean that for Pages files, it provides a message for Quicklook,(null) , Contents,(null) , and filename,(null).
    All disks are in good health, formatted as FAT32 for ease of use with all OS types, and are SATA.
    Again, this occurred immediately following the installation of 10.6.2 (both Software Update and Combo). I've seen similar errors online with iTunes libraries on network drives, but this is on directly connected drives.
    I normally wouldn't ask this, but, is there a way to reinstall 10.6.1 over .2? At this point, Time Machine would likely cause me to lose other data as well in a full revert, since it has been more than a few days.

    I have various personal files backed up on these drives (not system data): music, pictures, documents, etc.
    FAT32 should not be an issue, as I have used these drives for over 2 years with Tiger, Leopard, and then Snow Leopard with nay an issue, until now. Additionally, while the Time Machine backup may be an archive, it is the sole occupier of an HFS-formatted partition which is not exhibiting the issue. I only included that information since it is physically on the same drive as a partition (FAT32) which is being troublesome to rule out driver/hardware problems.
    Bottom line: All of my drives worked perfectly on 10.6.1 (and continue to do so on my other Macs (10.5.8), but do not on 10.6.2. I was only looking for a potential solution to my computer's specific issue, not a statement that my "compromise" is the cause of my problems.
    Actually, since Apple fully supports read/write access on FAT32 partitions, I should, indeed, be able to "have all things all ways...", no offense intended.

  • JSF backing bean accessibility from external class

    I am using JSF in my application. Consider i am assigning a value of the inputtext field to a string in my managed bean. This bean has the getters and setters for the string.
    Now my requirement is to get the value of the string i.e. the string value entered in the input text field in another class file. If "A" is a backing bean, I want a class B to access the values(in this case the inputtext value) from A.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Below is the code where i am using the inputtext tag in the JSP page
    <h:inputText value="#{person.name}" />
    "person" is the backing bean which is declared in the faces-config.xml
    PersonBean code:*
    package jsfExample;
    public class PersonBean {
         private String name;
    public void setName(String name) {
              this.name = name;
    public String getName() {
              return this.name;
    Now i have another class in the same package as shown below.
    package jsfExample;
    public class worker extends PersonBean{
    //this function should use the variable name present in the backing bean//
         public void access(){
         PersonBean person= new PersonBean();
         String str=person.getName();
         System.out.println(str);
    //I am getting null value in the str variable inside here//
    but if i print the variable inside the backing bean(*PersonBean*) it is working fine.

  • Can't access apache webserver from external IPs with 10.5.5

    I've just setup a new install of 10.5.5. I have one website configured on port 443 with SSL enabled. It all works fine internally.
    My router forwards external requests on 443 on to the local machine (192.168.5.1) which I can see working as the server's firewall is logging the access as accepted:
    Nov 24 19:37:10 server ipfw[4657]: 12308 Accept TCP 82.132.136.215:58095 192.168.5.1:443 in via en0
    So neither the router nor the OS X server firewall is blocking the request, but the webserver is not responding. There is no mention of the access request in the apache access or error log.
    As mentioned, the server is working perfectly from local IPs on the same subnet. netstat shows this setup for port 443:
    tcp46 0 0 *.443 . LISTEN
    Any one any ideas on what I can do to diagnose this? I had this working perfectly with OS X client's apache but since installing the server version I have no access from external IPs.
    Cheers
    Russell

    Hi Harry, as expected, telnet server 22 works and responds with
    Escape character is '^]'.
    SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.1
    But telnetting to 443 fails to connect after a minute or so and responds with
    telnet: connect to address XX.XX.XX.XX: Operation timed out
    telnet: Unable to connect to remote host
    It may well be something to do with my IP setup. Internally, my network is on 192.168.5.X/255.255.255.0. My server is 192.168.5.1 and also provides internal DNS. Telnet works from internal IPs.
    Externally I have a static IP and external DNS requests resolve to this static IP (as I can ssh to myserver.mydomain.com from external addresses and 'host myserver.mydomain.com' returns the correct info).
    Perhaps Apache isn't responding because its seeing a request to the external IP address coming in, but I thought setting the site to respond to address 'any' should over come this. It worked fine with the client.
    Cheers
    Russell

  • Can't use my custom claims provider when access to my site from external url

    Hi,
    I just created a clean SP 2013 (15.0.4641.1000) environment and I have a site collection up and running with access from internal url (http://my_server_name/) and external url (http://cloudshare_external_url/).
    When I access from internal url (with the local administrator account) I can add users to site groups:
    But if I access from external url (with the local administrator account, too) the people picker does not work:
    And if I put the email directly, I get the following error: "Sorry, you are not allowed to share this with external users"
    What am I doing wrong? Am I missing something?

    Hi Sebasl,
    Based on your description, my understanding is that the users cannot be resolved when accessing the site using external URL.
    I recommend to check the authentication provider for the external zone of the web application to see if the custom claims provider is selected.
    Please go to Central Administration > Application Management > Manage web applications > highlight the corresponding web application and then click Authentication Providers in the ribbon > click the external zone.
    Best regards.
    Thanks

    this is SCM system.
    SSL CA's are set.
    what should be value of the parameters?
    icm/HTTPS/trust_ client_with_ issuer or
    icm/HTTPS/trust_ client_with_ subject
    http and https ssl conections are correctly set.
    I think the SAPSSLA. pse" not found, is not the problem as the parameter icm/HTTPS/verify_ client = 0 is set, it means that no ssl certifiacts are required.
    problem is coming when the system is being accessed from externally using other secure domain name.
    the system is being accessed ok from web urs which is internal, but not external.
    for example in strust tcode  the domain name is *abc.com, which is running fine when accessing the system internally.
    but when the user is accessing this sytem from other secure login from *xyz.com, which is also the same companys domain, then the user not able to login, its showing errir.

  • Can't access server externally. Can internally.

    So I've searched almost every discussion on this site and on google and still can't get this to work.
    I'm trying to set up profile manager. The problem is that I cannot acces the default website, the mydevice, or the profile manager site externally. It all works fine if I use a local name internal to network, but not when using the FQDN from external.
    Before, everyone immediately chimes in an says it's a routing and port forwarding issue, I've tried all that.
    OS - Mavericks
    server hostname = FQDN that I use on internet (server.hostname.com)
    certificate = self-signed and matches teh FQDN
    DNS is hosted by server and works b/c other clients can resolve address to the internet
    All ports are opened on the router, 80, 443, 1640, 2195-2196, 5223 and forwarded to the server
    Server has a static IP address
    When I use can u see me, it shows as port 80 and 443 as Connection timeout. However, I know port 80 forwards, b/c when i put an IP camera on the network adn configure access from port on the external network to the cameras port, it works fine when accessing the camera remotely. So not sure why it shows as connection timeout. And yes, I've disabled the port 80 route to my camera before forwarding to server. there is no duplicate entry.
    Router = Motorola WRT54G
    I can access the profile manager when i type in the local address on the LAN, but as soon as i login, the server redirects to the external FQDN and doesn't resolve.
    ANyone help as to why I can't get access from external network to server.
    thanks

    I turns out that another post mentioning VMware was the clue that helped me find the answer. I force quit all the processes that begin with vmnet, and I was able to connect without any problems. So the VMware virtual network interfaces are indeed the problem. Now, if you need to use these, then you're out of luck; I only use VMware occasionally, but I now wonder if those interfaces aren't causing some other odd problems I've been having.

    what to do ?

    Dear
    You will have to create one System for R/3 Server Access, Once you have created that you will have to maintain User mapping for System Access for each individual users, who want to access the DMS Documents from Portal.

  • Airport Extreme is allowing access to screen sharing, file sharing from external IP addresses (some from China, Canada etc)

    How to get control over the ports/port forwarding etc in Airport Extreme?
    How to make AE drop packets to certain ports from external ports.  Or create whitelist/blacklists?
    I figured out where the MAC filtering is!  (It is inside the Timed Access Control).  I wish it had a list of connected device and allowed me to select, name and add them.
    I am getting requests from Chinese IP to the screen sharing ports forwarded to my iMac.  Had requests to other ports as well.  There was one IP address from CANADA too.
    I want to open file sharing for local use only.

    Why is Airport Extreme forwarding requests for screen sharing from external ip addresses to my imac?  I don't have a public address, nor use dynamic dns service, and I have removed the server app (at least I think I have, but Apple Store doesn't think so).

  • I have my iTunes library on external drive and can access from any PC. However I cannot access from new MacBokk Air.

    My iTunes library is on an external drive and been using it on two PCs with no problem.
    Now that I got a new MacBook Air I want to access the same iTunes library from the external drive and keep all the library and media on that external drive.
    When I try to change to another iTunes library by hitting "option" with iTunes and select the library on the external hard drive I get the following message:
    "The iTunes library file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do noy have write permission for this file."
    I have read many posts in which many suggest to go to the library or media file on the PC and right click to make sure the read only tab is not checked.
    I uncheked the read only tab and gave full permission to all the iTunes files and folders.
    The unusual part is that I can use this external drive on many PCs that I have tried with no problem at all.
    I just select a different library, which is on my external hard drive and everything works, play lists and everything.
    However, when I try it on a MAC i get the message stated above:
    What can I do to be able to access my External iTunes library from new MacBook Air while keeping everything on the external drive like I can on PCs?
    I am running latest version of iTunes and Mavericks.
    Please advise.

    I am familiar with the instructions for sharing files and have followed them (several times I might add).
    My problem is that the information that I place in the WINS tab ( in the Network Preference Pane) disappears when the iMac is re-started. This information (especially the Workgroup name) must appear when the computer re-boots. It doesn't and I have to re-enter the information in the iMac before I can access its files from a Windows PC.
    I have searched the internet for days trying to find an answer to this question. Although the problem seems to be fairly common, no solutions have been found.
